This review is only for the bbq in the parking lot at the licking. We went on Friday and got the ribs and the chicken. The ribs were tender and flavorful we enjoyed them, but next time I will request the sauce on the side or probably not at all. I am not a fan of the sauce. The chicken was too white for me, that's one and the other thing is it was terrible, no seasoning, bland, the only taste was the bbq sauce that we don't care for. We will return for the ribs minus the sauce. We will not be back for the chicken Like I said earlier this is only for the bbq. Came in to order with my kids and bring home take out also, inside was told that I had to eat in the back for dine in.. fine, so we move to that area, to then be told I couldn't sit in a table we had already settled in, we GET UP ONCE AGAIN, to go to another table, to now be told "oh no, this table has to be cleaned" ( mind you not one table there was clean) I grabbed my children and walked out. Whether they are short staffed or whatever the case maybe, you try and make a comfortable environment for a customer that is stepping into your establishment with their family to enjoy a meal. Let me start by saying that the service was incredible! The girls were so sweet and very attentive. The food was AMAZING. We ordered the mac and cheese with chicken (the chicken had buffalo sauce), an order of shrimp with mac and cheese, a side of yams and chicken tenders with fries. Everyone loved what they ordered including me. This place is perfect for a quick on the go meal or to sit down. Satisfied! I was craving soul food and this was the closest option. At 9p on a Friday, it was empty so pick up was a breeze. The cashier was polite and the space was very clean and sparkling. I've had the food at other locations so I knew what to expect but this was my first time getting actual soul food - fried turkey wings, green beans & Mac n cheese. Obsessed! I love food that I don't have to season or add anything to. The wings were delicious, juicy and well seasoned and it also came with a wet lemon pepper sauce which tastes homemade so that's a plus, the Mac was creamy and flavorful and the green beans were amazing (made w/ turkey) with a hint of spice. It was so small I'm so glad it wasn't busy when we went. However, the trip got better. We were seated as soon as we walked in. Our server got our drink orders the informed our party of 6 that there is a limit of 1 check. Not ideal but we figured it out. We all got the flavored lemonade. The Watermelon was my favorite. The host/waitress asked how many people were in the party and proceeded to seat us while on a personal call where she fussed with someone. About 10 mins later after seating us, she just stood next to our table with her arms crossed and stared. She couldn't answer many questions about the menu. We asked for ranch multiple times, and she didn't let us know that partially filled cups of ranch were 1.50 each. The only time she came to the table with a smile was when it was time to pay the check with the auto 18% gratuity, and offered to go cups for drinks after paying. The wings were good, the fried calamari and fried conch were rubbery, our jaws tired from chewing. They also have healthier options (grilled snapper) and classy modern updates on old favorites (lobster alfredo as a proxy for lobster mac & cheese, etc). Fingalickin' sauce on just about anything is good. It's a small chain these days, with locations even in Chicago and Orlando as well as Dade and Broward. Outside, this particular location is a little forlorn in the parking lot. Inside it's a softly mood-lighted space with very cool art. Service was decent, although a little slow. Prior to departing for a quick trip down to Miami from Philly, this restaurant was recommended. Since I reserved a rental car I figured why not take the 20 or something minute drive from South Beach to check it out. I liked the lit up pictures of musical artists hanging in the way but it's a bit dark overall. They have one unisex bathroom that is black with purple lighting. The restaurant it self is small but there were a few booths and a couple of tables that can accommodate parties of 8 comfortably with additional tables outside near the handicap parking spaces. Our table for 8 took about 35 minutes to become available. Once we placed our order, it took close to that for our food to arrive but everyone was pleased with their food. I ordered the grilled snapper with Mac and cheese and veggie rice. The snapper and Mac and cheese were delicious. The rice was a bit on the dry side but I remedied that by mixing it in with the snapper. I had a bottle of water so I can not speak to the quality of the drinks but the rest of my dining companions enjoyed the mystery drink we were told had different clear spirits in it. read more
