Signage caught our eye. After dropping off the kiddos to a birthday indoor soccer game we decided to look for a quick lunch. Upon walking in we notice there were some people sitting at the booths and a couple people standing by the ba area. Two gentlemen were handling the front for which we placed our order with one of them. We chose the fried shrimp meal with Mac and cheese, collard greens, rice and peas and a corn bread muffin as well as an order of lobster bites with fries. Shortly after placing the order and waited for about 10 minutes we realized that they were obviously understaffed. I overheard one of the gentlemen on the phone talking about needing more help and that there were not enough people in the kitchen. This was a bummer because what would've normally took up to 15 minutes to order for takeout ended up taking 45-50 due to the short staff. Aside from that the food was ok. Not blow your mind fantastic but just ok. Lobster bites were hot and seasoned well but the fries that came with it were not that great. The shrimp was pretty good as well as the collard greens and corn bread. Not enough to make you want to come back especially if they didn't have enough to cater patrons on a Saturday afternoon.

I work in the area and decided to try a new place. There's a lot of soul food spots in the area but I've had my eye on Mattie's for a while. Parking is a bit tricky here but doable. The atmosphere inside is nice, plenty of booths. I ordered the fried chicken dinner. I must admit I was a bit disappointed because I was expecting whole pieces of fried chicken like thighs and drumsticks as opposed to wings. They were still pretty tasty and good for the price, I just wish if I would've known it would be wings I would've gotten it with a sauce or flavor. I was in a rush so all I could do was add hot sauce at that point. The collard greens were delicious! I ate all of it. The Mac and cheese was also pretty awesome I only wish they served more of it! Overall I had a good experience and I'd come back to try something different.

This review is hard for me because there are some things about this place that I really love! So I had the fried chicken dinner. Let me start by saying they almost never have sweet potatoes so I got Mac and cheese and collard greens. My collard greens were fresh..unseasoned..unsalted the Mac and cheese was ok. Now u have a choice of rice and peas or yellow risk every and since I got fried chicken I thought yellow rice made more sense. Wrong decision...the yellow rice is really bad..it tastes like a really cheap straight out of the box brand..like a burnt rubber taste. The fried chicken was PHENOMENAL ! The chicken was literally soooooo good that it almost made up for the other things. Also they keep the salt shakers, hot sauce, utensils, etc. at the counter so I will find yourself getting up and asking for things quite often. Overall decent meal with the exception of the rice. Also they recently renovated the inside and it looks very great!

Everything was Great. I'm a truck driver and sometimes it's hard to find good on the road. I found this on "Yelp" and it was 3 blocks from where I'm delivering. The young lady that took my order greeted me as I entered the establishment (awesome, I like that). The inside appeared to be clean, no crazy odors and gospel music playing(it's Sunday). The wait time wasn't bad, I'd say 10 - 15 min. All my food had good flavor and was still hot when I got back to my truck. I WILL BE BACK, EVERY time I'm in this area.

I had been looking for Soulfood oxtail for a couple of months now. My coworker had suggested Mattie's to me but she said I would need to order on the phone because it might be a lengthy wait.I finally decided to go with another coworker. The cashier was very nice and she enjoyed my conversation. I,obviously enough ordered the oxtail and my coworker ordered the fried chicken. My oxtail came within 5 minutes, but my coworkers food took over 20 mins. We ordered to-go and felt like we waited a long time. When we got back to eat, my coworker raved about how the fried chicken is in her top 10 and I liked the oxtails I just wish it was more gravy based and had a little more flavoring. The cabbage and macaroni and cheese were great. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone in Miami.

If you are looking for soul food, look no more. Do not let the hole in the wall intimidate you from going in and getting your fill of some awesome oxtail. I got the oxtail, collared greens, green beans and the seafood fried rice and it was aaaaamazing and the portions were huge. Great dinner to get and highly recommend you try this place out

As of late, this is my spot when I want soul food that only a grandma can cook! Food is very good. My family and I had a great spread: grilled pork chops, grilled shrimp, fried shrimp, meatloaf, short ribs, oxtails and turkey wings. Seafood rice, yellow rice, pigeon peas and rice, collards w/turkey, Mac n cheese, yams and dressing. Washed it down with special punch. It is too sweet, but it is Good! Mr. Aubrey, the owner and Shy gave great customer service! My first-time experience lead me to return the following week. The food is consistent and that is what's important for restaurants to stay afloat. I wish I had tried this place sooner. It's the drive from Ft Lauderdale that kept me away. I look for the closest opportunity to drop-in now.

After a full day of work, the last thing I wanted to do was drive across Miami in search of dinner…read more Fortunately, Miami Lakes has its own surprises. One of them is 1910 Restaurant & Bar, a Spanish-inspired restaurant that blends premium steaks, seafood, and a little theatrical flair without losing sight of flavor. The meal opened with an order of Cheese Balls, crisp golden spheres that reminded me of pão de queijo, except they skipped most of the bread and focused almost entirely on the cheese. The exterior shattered pleasantly, giving way to a molten, creamy center. Paired with a pineapple sauce, each bite balanced sweet and salty in exactly the right proportions. My wife ordered the Australian Wagyu Flap Sirloin, a 12-ounce cut grilled over charcoal and served with house-made chimichurri. It was everything you hope Wagyu will be, deeply beefy, wonderfully tender, and rich without becoming overwhelming. The chimichurri added brightness without stealing the spotlight. Then came the dish that first caught my attention. The La Reina de la Casa, or "Queen of the House." At first glance, it almost feels designed for social media, a cheese pizza crowned with an enormous grilled octopus. I would be lying if I said that presentation didn't influence my order. Fortunately, this wasn't style over substance. The pizza itself stood on its own with a crisp crust and generous layer of bubbling cheese. The octopus, however, was the reason to order it. It was expertly grilled, tender without a hint of chewiness, and seasoned with a spice blend the server politely described as the chef's secret. Whatever was in that seasoning deserved to remain a secret, because it transformed an already well-cooked octopus into something memorable. Dessert brought things back to the classics with a crème brûlée. The sugar crust cracked cleanly beneath the spoon, revealing a silky vanilla custard underneath. Simple, elegant, and exactly the ending the meal needed. 1910 could have leaned heavily on flashy presentations and premium ingredients. Instead, it paired both with thoughtful execution. That's a far more difficult trick to pull off. Some restaurants earn attention because they're photogenic. The best ones earn repeat visits because the food is every bit as impressive as the photos.

She simply approached the table and immediately asked what type of water we wanted, which set an impersonal tone for the evening. The food arrived only room temperature. The grouper dish was overwhelmed by tomatoes and Parmesan cheese, making up what felt like half the plate. It was soggy, underseasoned, and lacked any standout flavors. The steak and risotto dish was similarly disappointing. The rice was slightly undercooked, and while the steak itself was cooked properly, it was bland and lackluster. Nothing we ordered felt exceptional or justified the cost. The biggest issue came when we discovered a long piece of hair in our side of fried plantains. To the restaurant's credit, they apologized and provided a complimentary dessert, which was appreciated and is the reason this review receives one star instead of none. Overall, the service was uninspired, the food was underwhelming, and the quality did not match the prices. We won't be returning.

Now there is a huge downside that you immediately encounter when you arrive. The parking lot is exceptionally small and people are parked every which way, except in the spaces. Getting to the actual building will take some time. The neighboring lots have pretty clear signs that they will tell you if you park there. So you're stuck dealing with what it is. The fish variety is good, although not great. If you're looking for strictly local fish, you'll probably find what you want. Several varieties of snapper and the fish looked wonderful and fresh. Some of my favorites like hogfish and grouper. You can buy the whole fish and they'll fillet it for you or you can buy fillets if they have them of the fish that you want. But the part I missed is having them cook it for me. Now that is something I would like to try next time The downside is they strictly local fish. You won't find any flatfish and I was surprised that they did not have any U4 or U6 shrimp which I like to use to make paella. In addition, I did not see fresh scallops. They did have some nice lobster tails although I did not see other shellfish. Some people have said the prices are reasonable; I found them about 20 to 30% higher than other fish markets I visit. The people here are really nice in the market is attractive. I will be back as I said to get a meal cooked for me in part because it is closer than the fish markets I usually visit and also my curiosity after reading other reviews. I recommend this market if you have the patience to wait for a parking space. If you're looking for the larger shrimp for paella look elsewhere
