We had never been to Chincoteague before and wanted just a little grab of beach when we thought the pandemic was ending. Hahaha. Oh remember those days? Anyway we were looking for a place to stay where we could have our older dog with us. He's a nervous guy and unexpected noise (thunder, loud noises, the mailman, dropping my phone from the couch) make him anxious so I was a little worried but it was so quiet! The owners also kindly put us on the first floor (which was also great for me because I've been having some knee/ankle issues) so I really appreciated that. Were there some issues? Sure. The bathroom could use a few more towel hooks, and it's a little musty, but it's also august at the shore after like a week of rain so I'm not holding that against them. The rooms were basic but fine. The location was great. The pool was actually nice and you will get waved at from the people walking by on the sidewalk but they're just jealous you're in a pool and they're not. We didn't use the screened in patio but it looked really nice and gave the entire place a friendly vibe. Plus if you wanted to grill while it was raining you could! Anyway, I thought it was nice. The people that run the motel seem cool and they're doing a fine job. read more

One thing I realized on Chincoteague is there are a lot of Inns. The Lighthouse Inn is a quaint Inn with a screened in outdoors area that is nice too. It's a great place to sleep after touring each day. The beds are comfy. I've got torn discs in my lower back and I slept great on the bed! They are double beds however. Though some rooms may have queens. Erica, the manager or owner is great. She's second to none when it comes to guest service. She's available all around the clock, even though the hours are until 9pm. I highly recommend this place especially if you're looking for just a 2-3 night stay somewhere. Yelp: FYI, not every spot to lay your hat is designated a hotel. How about adding "motel" to your drop down menu listings? Those who visit the Lighthouse Inn in Chincoteague, or many other independent, "retro" and family-run spots on the island will be perplexed by the designation "hotel" in the category field. Now, with that out of the way, anyone who's been to Chincoteague Island appreciates the non-corporate, grassroots feel of the place. No Starbucks. Imagine that! The grocery store on the island is an IGA store. A few nationally known motels (Hampton Inn, Comfort Inn), but primarily the spots for overnighting are places like the Lighthouse Inn - a throwback to a simpler era. High maintenance divas who visit Yelp will not be caught dead at a motel like Lighthouse Inn - tiny bathrooms, small towels, OMG--is that a fly buzzing around??? No interior corridors. Very spotty WiFi. Tube TVs. Furniture from the 60s. But those are the charms of this place (and other non-chain options on the island). I had the room closest to the main drag in town and had a very restful night's sleep. They have amenities on the property like a pool and a screened-in grilling area with two gas grills that all guests can use. Several picnic tables. This ain't no party, this ain't no B&B....these are basic accomodations perfect after a day of biking and hiking through the National Seashore area and exploring Wallops Island. There is a cat who hangs out here as if he owns the place. Turns out he comes down from a house up the street and enjoys the company of this motel's guests. A very dog-like feline that only the most dogmatic cat hater would disapprove of. The rates are good (even in-season rates). For those who don't think they're better than basic motels, you'll love it here. read more

The Lighthouse Inn comes without any frills and is a charming 80s throwback (which I loved), but I thought it was a great place to stay. It's located walking distance to several restaurants and shops which is nice because the town of Chincoteague is more bike-able than walk-able. The rooms could be viewed as outdated but honestly I loved the place because it has a retro charm to it and was spotlessly clean, not to mention the rates were great. There was a bit of a musty smell (very typical during summer in the south) but it was very much overcome by the incredibly comfortable bed where I slept like a baby. They also have a large screened in patio where you can enjoy the evening breeze, have a few beers, and meet some of the friendly lodgers. We met some really interesting people there and it was a very relaxing way to spend the evening as Chincoteague doesn't have much in the way of nightlife. The beach is about a 7 minute drive away and the pool is open daily from 10am to 10pm. read more

The room was nice and clean and the inn was within walking distance of a lot of great restaurants and shops. We stopped here to spend the night on a spur of the moment trip to Chincoteague Island. We checked in with a perfectly lovely young lady who gave us a quick rundown of the island. When we got to our room it was very small, but clean and neat. The hotel is under new ownership, and had been fairly recently renovated. It was a very pleasant stay, even if a nearby rooster was very insistent that I get up earlier than I had originally planned. read more

Lovely decor, clean rooms, great location! The comforters are so cozy. I like the fact it is a smaller independent, family run hotel. In the middle of downtown so everything is within walking distance. Pet friendly too. The innkeepers Erica and Eddie were so welcoming to me when I stayed for a weekend to celebrate my brother's wedding. Would highly recommend staying here. read more

This Inn made our weekend amazing! The young couple managing the property were so welcoming, and definitely went above and beyond to make our anniversary special. You just can't get this service at a chain hotel. This was our first Chincoteague Island visit, and we'll be staying here every time we come back! If you're looking for a clean and cozy hotel, you'll want to consider the Lighthouse. I've stayed here a couple of times and each time it was due to this being one of the few hotels on the island that is pet friendly. We came in after the office closed and they made arrangements for us to check in. Super accommodating and priced within reason. read more

I was very happy with this place. We stayed for 6 nights with 2 adults and 2 kids. Every time we requested something from staff everyone was super nice and very accommodating. I am a bit of a picky person and usually the one to sty at Hampton or Marriot but went out of the norm this trip and it was worth the stay. Thanks for the great hotel experience!!! read more

The food and service was great but make sure you do reservations or you'll wait . They had tables know one was at but reservation cards but didn't seat walk inns We walked in had plenty of empty tables open at 5:00 pm some reservations didn't show up till 6:00 They leave table empty. My fiancé and I visited the island for the first time for a short weekend trip. We inadvertently came across this hotel when our prior arrangements fell through. We were in a panic because all of the other "chain" hotels were booked. We were not expecting much, considering the price. We inquired at the front desk with the loveliest couple (the owners) about availability. Luckily they had a room for us! We were quite pleased with the location. Really couldn't get a better location. It is right in the middle of the town and close to the beach. The beds were actually pretty comfortable. The room was spacious and had tile flooring, which is perfect because it can be sanitized and sand can easily be swept off the floor. The pool was clean and landscaping was nice. Very relaxed and laid back! The owner's are so friendly and would go out of their way to accommodate their guests. read more

My family and I stayed here for three nights this summer. After my wife and I spent an hour scrubbing the tub and sink it was ok. If we had not been looking for a place that allowed our dogs we would have probably moved on. The carpet was somewhat dirty, but the linens were clean and there were fresh towels and plenty of hot water. WiFi would have been nice but was not available. In the future we will probably look elsewhere - probably at one of the many vacation rentals available on the island. read more

We usually stay at this Inn when we come to the island for our weekends getaways because we like the location and it has always been afforable. When we park our car upon check in we don't move it until check out :) evertything we need is within very short walking distance, all the shops and great restaurants. When we came to Lighthouse Inn this time we were so nicely surprised. The whole place seems to be just renovated. It was sooo clean, fresh and comfy that we didn't want to leave. They definately put a lot of effort and money into this hotel recently. The beds...they were so comfortable that I had to peek and see what kind it was :) and I couldn't believe it...I have never seen expensive pillowtop beds in any hotel, but here they were...Nicely done Lighthouse Inn! read more

We selected the Lighthouse Inn for a quick trip to Chincoteague because it was one of a few that would allow pets. Lets just say that it was your basic old motel room. Tiny bath with no place to hang a towel, tiny windows so the room was always dark, and beds with scratchy blankets. That said, it was clean, the staff was pleasant, and it did have a tiny pool and yard area that would have been nice to use if the weather was sunny. read more

This is a small motel. There is a couple owners and we constantly saw them and they were always working. They knew us and our car when, and always said something to us when they saw us. It is a walk up to your room from outside, so you do get flies and bugs in the room, and they have smaller air conditioners. The bathroom is smaller, but the rooms were cleaned. The beds were a bit soft. The room was clean, and they did a great job of making sure that it was taken care of on a daily basis. There is an outdoor pool and covered picnic area with tables. There is a grill that you can use as well. We did have some issues with the wi-fi. The furniture was not in great condition, however while we were there they were putting in new furniture in most of the rooms. read more
