I came here for Christmas dinner with my family. Classy, calm, and festive atmosphere. We ordered the Brussels sprouts (egg on top was very unique!), bruschetta, and calamari to share. I ordered the pollo milanese for my entree - the chicken was juicy and the pasta was light & complimented the chicken well. Everything was very delicious! My mom ordered the polenta & ragu which is one of the restaurant's specialties - it had a great flavor and was a solid dish all around. We came here after work for a light happy hour dinner. We like to sit at the bar and enjoy a chat with the bartender. Unfortunately, our bartender wasn't feeling love and barely said two words. When we asked him a question, he acted the it was a chore to answer even though there were only two other people at the bar and almost no one in the restaurant. We started with lemon cello spritzes which were refreshing. We also had the Ligurian flatbread which was delightfully delicious. We also had the meatballs which had a good flavor and texture but they were somewhat cold. We didn't dare mention it to the grouchy bartender do we figured we would take them home and warm them up. We also had the special roasted grape salad that we also enjoyed. I gave it four stars for the food. And the food did come out quickly. But we probably not come back based on the attitude of the bartender. read more

As you can see from my first and last review here for lunch in May 2022 I really enjoyed my lunch here last May. I returned here for a second time again for lunch on the Monday prior to Christmas with my family of six including one elementary school child. We had a 12 noon lunch reservation. A large parking lot is adjacent to the restaurant so both times it was easy to park here for our lunch. We were seated again at a nice table overlooking the pizza oven. Last time we had a similar table. The place was not crowded. I started with my Sum Basil with Diplomatico aged rum, strawberry, basil and lemon juice for $15 followed by a glass of Villa Graziella Chianti Riserva for $18. We shared and enjoyed the calamari fritti with jalapeno peppers for $20. I love jalapeno peppers. I also enjoyed my Dana's bolognese with spaghetti, bolognese, basil and pecorino for $25. Dante B. served our table professionally. My total bill was $234 excluding gratuity. We agreed we will continue to return here for lunch or dinner. read more

Nice atmosphere, but inconsistent food!!!!!! I dined at Davanti Enoteca and had an overall average experience. The restaurant has a great atmosphere, and the wine selection is a highlight. Some dishes were well prepared and flavorful, but others didn't quite meet expectations, especially for the price. Service was friendly, though a bit slow at times, and pacing during the meal felt uneven. The setting is enjoyable for a relaxed evening, but the food quality wasn't consistently impressive. Overall, it's a decent spot, but there's room for improvement. I might return for drinks, but I'm unsure about a full meal next time. read more

We have always been a fan. Prior to the moving to the suburbs, we were frequent visitors of the River North and University Village locations until they closed. Now the Western Springs location is our main go-to and there are several items that we repeatedly order: 1) Davanti Burger with the bacon jam and cheese curd 2) Focaccia di recco with the soft cow's cheese and honeycomb 3) Della terra pizza with braised leeks, truffle oil, and a variety of mushrooms 4) Truffle egg toast with the cremini mushrooms and truffle oil Without going into detail, we have also tried most the pasta dishes. Hosted a large group of us last minute and did it an amazing job with service, food quality, and speed. It is a warm and homey atmosphere inside. We ordered a couple appetizers of calamari and the ricotta, which were both delicious. Wish more bread came with the ricotta. For the main, the orecchiette I got was delicious and obviously homemade. I got to try some other mains and the chicken was very tender, the pizza was thin chewy and well balanced, and the other pastas were also well seasoned. Great for a casual to date night! read more

Delicious and authentic! Every time we are here we have fantastic service. The food is hot, fresh, and out fast. I've had home made pastas, great apps (whipped ricotta YUM) and fantastic drinks. Davanti hosted a funeral luncheon on June 5th. From the moment I first emailed Suzie Reeves to the end of the luncheon, everything was beyond wonderful. The food was excellent, service and staff were amazing and so accommodating. We had a guest who was lactose intolerant and they made a special appetizer and dessert for her. The funeral was for my father, and davanti was one of my favorite parent's restaurants. Davanti Western Springs is a restaurant that offers particularly delicious food. All of it is REAL- no processed food. All of it is fresh and TASTY!! . Wonderful people who work there. Attentive & efficient, kind, helpful, friendly. Today I ate there with a dear friend. We had a wonderful Prosecco. Bruschette alla Romana-(burrata + marinated tomatoes + garlic toast) Squash Farro, a delicious/flavorful dish ! We also had the hamburger, Sirloin-rare, Davanti Burger-(bacon jam + roasted tomatoes + cheese curd + arugula + roasted garlic aioli + parmesan fries) SOOOOO GOOOOD!. Even the fries are particularly delicious. Adam brought us our food. He is a super expert in Star Wars. But really!! He knows everything you could ever want to know about SW. We had a fun chat with him on that subject. He sings too! the ambiance is pleasant, nice background music, handsome bar... We have been coming to Davanti for lunch since 2018, and have never been disappointed. We always leave pleased, satisfied, "stomach-happy", and dying come back for more. Yesterday's early 'al fresco' food intake was perfect! My sweet wife and I first shared a charcuterie-like start with two yummy salumi (try the Coppa) and two cheeses that were new to us, one was like a blue cheese, the other soft and creamy. Look on the back of the menu, where you can make choices from about four meats and four cheeses. The crackers had slight XVOO drizzle and looked like toasted ravioli, but a more delicate texture...delicious! We could have stopped there and been utterly satisfied! But, no... Next, FOCACCI DI RECCO ligurian flatbread + soft cow's cheese + honeycomb was warm and utterly delicious, though more honey would have been nice. And I am certain that Sophia, our wonderfully attentive server would have provided, but I didn't think to ask. We had this with Calamari Fritti and tiny cherry peppers, which gave it a teensy zip. Took some calmari and ligurian flatbread with cow cheese home. I suspected a midnight raid, but I was too lazy to get out of bed! The mixture of sun/shade, tasty food, my wife's smile, her perfect Negroni and my cold beer, Peroni, and Sophia's timely service, all made for a true Saturday treat...Dang, I should have shot some photos, but I was too 'in the moment' to focus on Yelp reviews. Right on a busy intersection. The servers are always great. The food is really good. They have a lot of outdoor seating in the warm weather. Place is clean. It's a little on the dark side (some may call that romantic), but not a negative for me. It seems a little small but they have easily sat my group of ten more than once. Review based on Thanksgiving buffet. Waited to have some perspective, but yes, this is the worst dining experience of this year. Made the reservation in person and was discouraged because I was bringing my 95 year-old mother. Cancelled the next day and reserved for Francesca's Palos. My mother could not go due to illness so, for our convenience, we switched back to Davanti WS. BIG MISTAKE. The restaurant was freezing cold because the door was constantly open for carry outs. When we asked about it we were told "that will be happening all day". NO concern for comfort of people dining in the restaurant. Not only were we cold, but our food was cold before we could eat it. I ate half the meal with my coat on. The tables were so close together we had to turn sideways and do a corkscrew maneuver to get between them and get to the buffet. The person carving the meats kept telling me what was in each dish-even though there were signs, and recommending what to eat-try that cheese it's expensive. The music was blasting loud. Way too loud for a smaller restaurant. And it was "in da club" music even though most diners were seniors and families. I asked manager? for a different play list. The response was "I gotchu" . Sounded like a wired sneeze. A professional response would have been "sorry you don't like it; I'll change it". Changed playlist but not much better and still too loud. Server brought check and stood on top of me while I put my coat on waiting for CC. The reason we went here is because two years ago we went to Francesca's Arlington Heights and really enjoyed the meal and the service. Cannot say enough good things about Davanti! It is one of our all-time favorite restaurants. It helped to sell us on our town when we were house hunting, and it was so good that we made sure it was our first meal inside our new house. The food is tremendous and the service is impeccable. I just hosted a baby shower here, and Angel, Stefan, and Sean, along with their team, took care of every detail. They were so kind and courteous, they even helped with the set up and clean up of decor. They really made me feel like I had a team as a hostess! All guests raved- every drink was refreshed promptly, the food came out beautifully, and the ambiance was perfect. They really took care of every detail, and made us feel very cared for. An assuming little place somewhat off the beaten path, Davanti is a great little spot for high quality Italian food. On this trip I tried the Cacio e Pepe, a simple spaghetti dish with a great texture, perfectly cooked, and lightly seasoned to fully enjoy the basics of the dish. It was an A+ concoction and well worth a try! Next up was the veal meatballs, which were solid enough, but not a standout by any means. The flavors seemed a bit on the underwhelming side, like they should have hit you in the mouth a little more but couldn't quite find the strength in their combination. Very subpar experience. Used to love coming here. Came here for a late dinner. We first noticed a lot of the items we used to order were gone. The ricotta and honey toast were comprised of toast that fell apart and ricotta that did not have a good consistency. Our pizza was very bland. It read like a frozen pizza. We split the carbonara and could not finish it. It tasted medicinal. I called the restaurant when we got home to tell them what happened and was lectured for 5 minutes about how I needed to tell them when I was at the restaurant. If they had apologized it would have been one thing, but a subpar experience and a lecture earns you the review you deserved this evening. Won't be back. read more

We went for Valentine's weekend. We made reservations for Saturday night at 7:30. The tables were nicely spaced apart---didn't feel crowded. They give you 1.5 hours to dine. There's also a heated tent. Staff was very prompt with their service. Ricotta Vasi - whipped ricotta, toast, honeycomb. Perfect combination and generous serving Cacio E Pepe - salty, peppery, cheesy goodness. I would've liked the noodles a little more al dente, personally Paccheri E Salsiccia - giant perfectly al dente rigatoni with huge chunks of sausage and roasted tomato and onions Davanti Burger - highly recommend; perfectly crispy parmesan fries, thick burger cooked to your liking, melted cheese curd, bacon jam, roasted garlic aioli, arugula--I see why it's their namesake menu item Brown Butter Blondie - topped with salted caramel gelato and Marcona almonds - nuff said Would definitely come here again. Davanti has always been one of my favorite places to go for Italian food around this West Suburbs area. I have tried different dishes in every visit and I've never had one that I did not enjoy. I strongly suggest to make reservations through Open Table or calling the restaurant directly. The last time I was here (a few weeks ago), we were seated in the outdoor heated tent. It was still a little chilly though because of the open spaces/gaps on the tent, but it was a pleasant dining experience. I have tried a variety of dishes but I will not go into any more details. Based from the handful of times I've been here, I've enjoyed their dishes and would love to try a lot more. The one star off was because of the inconsistent service. The staff members were all pleasant and efficient but I've always felt like each server wouldn't give enough time to actually talk, listen, or make their guests feel welcomed. I understand that they're busy, but I hAve been to other busy restaurants which provided much better service. Overall, I would still love to try other dishes at Davanti because I've had great experience here, when it comes to the food. The service is a different story though, that hopefully will get better. Couldn't have been more disappointed. My salmon dish was the smallest and thinnest piece I ever had. We were not offered any bread and it wasn't shown in menu as an extra. I now know why I was able to get a last minute reservation at 7:00 PM. #WWAmbassador Door Dashed from Davanti last night. We hadn't eaten their food since we went in February with our friends for their Godfather wine dinner. That night was fabulous with many delicious courses and wine pairings. Last night I ordered the cauliflower steak and then shared a veal meatball, ricotta vasi and cacio e pepe. I was very satisfied except the meatball fell short. It wasn't as soft and flavorful as my dad's. So disappointed. My husband had the rigatoni with sausage. It was a very small portion for an entree. Good thing we ordered a couple dishes to share. One of the first places I will go to dine at is this restaurant once the pandemic has come to an end. Ordering carryout it's a great way to get food from restaurants I love and to support them, but it's definitely not the same as dining in! I miss that so much! read more

Living down the street from the original DaVanti Enoteca on Taylor Street, I was happy to walk in their doors when they first opened. The great staff, fun atmosphere and delicious food because a staple for me, my friends, and my family. At a point in time when it became so popular that the wait would be nearly 3 hours (reservations were not available at this time), the manager and staff were always welcoming and accommodating to me and my guests. Moving to LA in 2012, I spoke to their management to discuss franchising it there. I was pleasantly surprised to find out they had opened one in San Diego recently. I would venture the 2.5 hours drive down there on occasion and always introduced DaVanti to many others. When I would return to Chicago, I'd stop in to enjoy the dining experience it offered. After the Taylor Street location closed, I found the last remaining location in Chicago area in Western Springs, IL. I've dined at this location numerous times and every time it has declined in all aspects. Today was the last visit I'll ever make and the last day I'll even recommend this restaurant. It's 78° out with the sun shining and I had relatives in town who frequented DaVanti every time they visited. We went for dinner and wanted to sit outside under the sun and beautiful weather. We were told they were not seating outside at all. All surrounding restaurants (Hillgrove Tap, Guac N Taco, and Ella's ALL had patronage sitting outside. We were then sat in the bar area by windows which we requested to open for fresh air. The menu was very recently changed and many staples were removed and lackluster items were added. After watching patron after patron come in and request outdoor seating only to be denied, the manager approached our table and asked how things were. We explained our disappointment in everything that had gone down. He had no sympathy or acknowledgment of our experience. Instead, he walked over and closed the windows in front of us, cutting off the fresh air. Between the change of menu and addition of lackluster food items, terrible service and overall decline of this restaurant, I do not recommend dining here or supporting DaVanti Enoteca at all. read more
