This is a really cute spot but I had a disappointing experience. I went in yesterday and ordered an iced matcha (without lavender) and a breakfast burrito (without peppers). The cashier asked if I wanted avocado added, and I said no. The iced matcha was pretty good, but my breakfast burrito came out with both peppers and avocado in it. I don't have an allergy so I didn't mention it, but now I'm not sure if I might have been charged for the avocado (to be honest, I didn't look at the screen when he was ringing me up and I didn't request a receipt, so that's on me). I would maybe come back for a drink and pastry, but I wouldn't get the burrito again (even if it came without the peppers and avocado)- it didn't seem worth the price to me. The new Little Store is totally magical. It's beautiful inside with light blue accent walls, big windows, and vintage-y furniture. The flowers they sell are also gorgeous (they also sell these as Marigold in SF, another incredible spot!). My favorite drinks are iced lattes and iced matchas with the delicious rose vanilla syrup. And the gluten-free muffin from Manresa bread (where they get the pastries they don't make in house) and artful avocado toast are my food faves. It's always such a treat to come in here and I can't wait to come back! read more

We stopped by as a party of 4 on Saturday and were pleasantly surprised! It's so cute and tiny inside and the service is a little slow, with only one dish coming out at a time (my dad was basically finished with his breakfast burrito by the time my sister got her sandwich many many minutes later) but we thought everything was good. I got the little breakfast and I thought it was tasty, just a little too much butter on the sourdough. We will most likely be back to try other things! read more

We came today for a coffee and some food. Everyone else got ceramic mugs however they informed us they were out of ceramic mugs so I revived a paper mug which was slightly disappointing. Furthermore they were out of the toast I wanted to order and it's only 1pm. Finally the avocado toast also tasted like it was drowned in lime with had no avocado flavor at all. We really wanted to like the newly imagined Little Store and looked forward to trying their breakfast offerings. Starting with a regular cup of coffee which tasted like water, we were offered a fresh brewed replacement cup which tasted the same as the first cup. Moving on to the breakfast - my scrambled eggs were very rubbery and the accompanying avocado was so bland and unseasoned. On to my friend's breakfast sandwich. The biscuit was burnt, the egg rubbery, all topped off with a dried out sausage patty. On a positive note, the Manresa pastry was delicious but it isn't made in house. IMO - given the price point - the food quality and preparation was sub par and lacked imagination. Little Store needs to do better in the breakfast arena before I'll give it another go. read more

I tried the Campfire Brownie and my god was that the best dessert I've ever tasted. Took one bite and was more than satisfied. This recipe is immaculate and I need it. I'd read about this place in an article online from a local paper. It was a lovely experience. The menu was full of yummy looking items, and it was hard to choose! We ordered the Grain Bowl and a chicken sandwich. Both were special. You'd have to read the menu to understand why. Fresh and tasty ingredients and flavors that meshed nicely. People came and went and there was enough seating because they also have outside tables and chairs at the "bar." Parking was limited to maybe 16-20 cars and I didn't see where else to park if those were full. Someone pulled out right as I arrived and same for my friend. Found this gem while driving back from a hike in Huddart park. Amazing food that was much better than expected after just reading the menu description. We had the chicken club, rancher (came with delicious mushrooms) and a white bean soup. Espresso shot was excellent as well. Very reasonably priced considering the zip code and parking was easy on a Thursday at lunch. read more

We are local and stopped in to see the new set up. Saturday was really busy which is a good sign and indeed. I had the Ham (Le Jambon) sandwich and it was really authentic from the rustic baguette (Yum), real French ham (IYKYK), cornichons, butter, coarse grind mustard, big slices of cheese. Excellent, like a French boulangerie, the sandwich was simple, satisfying in flavor and not over complicated. I love good sandwiches and this one has been added to my list. I've driven by and loved this venue for years. Now, for the first time, the inside is as beautiful as the outside. Today my whole family met here for breakfast for the first time as The Little Store 2.0, completely reimagined with a beautiful new menu to celebrate our wedding announcement. Everything was perfect!!! We tried every item on the menu, had 5 star service and left looking forward to coming back. My husband and I spontaneously decided to eat here on a Friday night. Wow, what a nice experience! We sat outside. Our table was surrounded by lush plants, a fountain and lite candles. The was a couple of acoustic musicians starting to play inside. We were greeted promptly and politely by the co-owner lady. Then a young fellow came and took our order. It is tough to give 3 stars after tonight's experience, but we have had meals there prior and view it as a "little store" quaint type place vs a factory. Tonight we specifically brought visiting family as TLS is such an iconic Woodside spot, but the service was so slow. I expressed that we had been sitting for 20+ min w no order for even a drink, and told sorry be there immediately (I said thank you, relieved), but no one came! So after another slab of time, we walked out and went to Bucks. I won't say never again, but they need to have better service to better match their special food and ambience. Updated 10/25/19...went in for a quick drink and they were pretty empty, and the owner gal was super nice attentive and gave us special cheeses to try--very good experience. All in all, it was a lovely experience, despite the fact that they don't have tap water to drink. Which is odd, and a little annoying since bottled water is not healthy. We only wanted a little lunch and they were happy to help us share the amazing beet salad (with Cypress Grove cheese, fresh bright greens, beets, tomatoes, pomegranate seeds and huckleberries, fabulous garlic and ginger seasoning, and two delicious polenta cakes with lovely presentation. Bad experience! Overpriced and slow, but waitress or owner was way out of line. Cussed loudly 3 times, using the F-word (I have never heard the F-word yelled loudly in a restaurant! Have you?) She treated us like trash, glared at us while we wondered if we could sit down. We wandered in, then out, then in. She kept staring at me angrily, while talking loudly to a couple outside. A kind man seated us. He did everything right. The food came slowly, but correctly, looked good, tasted great. The carrots were under-cooked (too hard for my wife to chew, since they were whole carrots.) But all was well with the food. Get the dangerous lady out, she is destroying your business! I told her to stop yelling the F-word in front of us, so we could enjoy our dinner. She glared angrily, and then angrily muttered things under her breath every time she walked by. A truly horrible person, a toxic work environment, and decent but over-priced food. I also had to ask for a menu... Never returing, and saying the dark-haired lady on Wednesday evening shift should immediately leave. It will make the workers more successful. I'm convinced her deranged attitude drags it all down. Get another young, smiling face in there with service experience. Also, put less tables if you cannot service that many people. Someone should buy this place and fix it up, and get that lady out of there. I have never heard staff yelling the F-word! New, terrible experience. Poor workers. Coming out of the mountains after a hike and finding this rustic little restaurant, in what seems to be the middle of nowhere, is exciting. Going inside and being greeted by a beautiful French woman, makes it down right intriguing. We decided to stay for dinner. At first blush, it's a little difficult to reconcile the plastic checkered tablecloth and cabin like decor with the prices. $10-$12 glasses of wine, $12 appetizer salad and $22 dinners, seems at home with a hip, trendy restaurant in San Francisco. The menu is a bit hodgepodge as well. Beef bourguignon is interesting, given the French owners, but it's mostly surrounded with ordinary American fare. Overall not particularly inventive. We went with the special of the evening, lamb chops, and the warm cabbage salad, splitting both. We started with a nice glass of red, a French blend, and it was good. We were there early, as we just finished a hike, so we were the first customers. I saw the chef chopping the cabbage and preparing our salad so I know it was fresh. I didn't expect it to be actually sautéed but it was really delicious! I love the nuts on it. Tasty. They split it for us which was nice. Next came the Lamb chops, three juicy and delicious lamb chops with a few fried potatoes and some steamed veggies. Everything was good, not groundbreaking, but the dishes and presentation were lacking. More like eating at someone's house. And for the price, I expect more than plastic tablecloths and so-so presentation. Overall, it was different and a special experience. Definitely worth stopping if you're in the area though I wouldn't make a special trip out here. I think lunch here would probably be more fun, especially with kids. read more

We literally had to go track them down to get the bill only to get a blank stare from the women working. Horrible all around, skip it. Saw an ad for this restaurant and it looked cute so I decided to go there. Had no problem finding it nor any problems parking. They are on a main road and have a large parking lot. The interior is cute and tables have red checked table cloths on them. Ambience is slightly rustic. We got there and found our own table. There were about four other tables occupied at this time. It took a while to get the menu and we finally decided on what we wanted and ordered. Then the wait began. For a small restaurant with just a few tables occupied I feel I waited a while before our meals came. Finally we got the BBQ pulled pork which was shredded pork with tangy special recipe BBQ sauce on a toasted bun and I got the Chicken Pepper Brie Fantasy which was a lean chicken breast with citrus marinated roasted peppers and double cream brie served on sour dough bread. My friend thought the pulled pork sandwich was just okay and the bread a tad old. I enjoyed the chicken sandwich. The place was clean, server was friendly, service slightly slow and food nothing really special. Bathroom was clean, tidy and spacious with posters on the walls telling about the entertainment on Tuesday nights. Overall it is a cute place to go if you live near by. I come from further away so I probably will not frequent this restaurant. read more

"Why don't I own a horse?" I asked myself as I sat down at a table in front of the Little Store. "Why don't I have a cabin in the woods?" I pondered as I sipped my lemonade. "Why don't I go for hikes?" I thought, as I munched on my sandwich and looked at the tall evergreens. 'Cause I'm a city girl, that's why. Every now and then, I find myself in the "country", that is, Woodside. It's beautiful out there, like what you might see in a picture book of California, with its huge wooded hills and winding roads. Everyone and their brother seems to be on a bike, and little old ladies in flowered skirts shop for their daily groceries taking tiny fairy steps. There are less signs for pedestrian crossings than horse crossings. So while I really like Buck's, I could not bring myself to have lunch in a strip mall - not with all of that natural beauty out there. Driving just a bit further up Woodside Road, I spotted The Little Store, sitting there like something out of an old Gold Rush photograph. It had outdoor tables, plenty of parking, and all of the character that I was looking for. The menu was decent - a combination of American favorites, breakfast items, and sort of Tex-Mex things. I had the Prosciutto and cheese sandwich on foccacia and it was pretty good. My potato salad was especially tasty - skin on, yum. At around $10 per sandwich plate, it's not exactly a bargain, but the view of the trees was worth it - and I was in and out of there in less than 20 minutes, which was great because I was short on time. My waitress was very nice and efficient, and everyone seemed to know each other in the place, which was comforting. It felt a little like being in a scene from Northern Exposure. It's definitely a place that you could linger if you felt like it. Charming, full of local flavor, and not in a strip mall. That's what this city girl likes when she's out in the wild blue yonder. read more

First time at the Little Store Restaurant after a 5 mile hike at Wunderlich. Really cute place - loved the small outside seating with the little garden and small water fountain. The lady (owner I assume?) was pleasant but not overly friendly. Food was good I had a croque monsieur. I always thought there was supposed to be mayo spread on top though with the cheese, but it was still good. I did like the chilled glasses for wine. It was perfect on a nice summer day. I will definitely come back here again. Would love to try some other items on the menu. read more

This place is delightful! I ordered the daily special - BBQ Ribs, which was "unusually delicious" (husband's words). Luxuriously rich, meaty ribs, cooked until falling-off-the-bone tender, the sauce at once tangy, smokey, and just slightly sweet. We split an appetizer-sized napa cabbage salad: warm-yet-still-crunchy cabbage with bacon, blue cheese, and almonds; well balanced flavor and texture. Similar offerings to Alices up the hill, slightly more expensive but also slightly higher quality in execution. We're looking forward to checking out the opera and banjo nights! read more

Went with friends for a easy night out. Best Onions Rings! Their fries are good too, but THE ONION RINGS! We split fried chicken, salads and crab cakes. The chicken has a little sweet taste, very good. Spinach salad looked good, Napa cabbage salad was just ok. After the guys paid the bill, they figured out we wanted dessert and coffee. Went here for dinner as I have driven past here many times and always wanted to stop. It's a cute restaurant, nicely decorated my boyfriend and I has a nice table for two outside on a warm evening. I ordered the $35 filet mignon, and he had the $30 New York Steak, both came with potatoes and asparagus and I included a Cesar salad. My first few bites into the fillet, I immediately noticed something was off about the texture of the meat. It was tender, but something tasted funny about it. I had ordered it medium rare, but it was delivered rare. I ended up eating only a quarter of it I finished the Cesar salad and the potatoes. In the 20 minutes it took me to get home I was on the toilet. Something in that meal was either not clean not fresh or just plain off. My boyfriend felt a bit queasy as well but perhaps his stomach was a little bit stronger than mine. We will not be back read more

I love the fact that my family can walk into The Little Store and get a table on the weekend, but I also want this place to stay open so I'm writing this review. We moved from SF over 10 years ago and I can't say I've loved a complete peninsula meal until The Little Store. There are many restaurants that are group owned and honestly, they are good but they taste a lot alike. I love the unique flavors, special cheeses, savory crepes, beef bourguignon and the French onion soup. It's such a special place and I highly recommend. read more
