Tried Brunello's on a Friday night, here's the review. 4 people , 3 very mediocre dishes and one that was less than mediocre. But before I go into the food, let me address something I've never seen before on a bill. I ordered a Bourbon mixed with Diet Coke and the $15 charge was broken into three separate charges: $12 for whiskey; $2.50 for "whiskey prep rocks" (adding ice?); and $1.50 for "whiskey prep mixed" (mixing it?). What???? The first proseco served to another diner was outright flat, it was replaced. Meal. I ordered veal scalloppine picata and the meat tasted nothing like veal as it was a tough chew. My wife had the shrimp with risotto and she said the shrimp was ok but risotto was flavorless. Indeed, it's the first time I ever saw almost all the risotto left on the plate. The chicken milanesa someone else ordered came out cold in the first round and properly replaced with a new serving however everyone else's meal had to wait so we could eat together. Our waitress was nice but not very experienced and perhaps a little flustered. Brought out the dinners but hadn't bussed the appetizer plates in advance, It's actually not her job so I think they just lack help. The clams and sausage appetizer was very good. Perhaps the place had a bad night, but frankly for $300 with tip for 4 people was simply not worth it. Glad we tried it but it will likely be a one and done for us. read more

This was my first time here, some of the people in my group have been here many times before and highly recommended it. This restaurant does catering and can do parties like mine. I can see why this restaurant was chosen. We were a group of 10 people celebrating a Christmas Party. We had a reservation and were seated immediately. The dining room itself was lovely. It was decorated beautifully with Christmas decorations, a large Christmas Tree in the corner. They have a mantle over the fireplace that was lit up and decorated with Christmas lights. What made this room extra special was the gigantic fireplace that had a roaring fire going as we sat and enjoyed our food and each other's company. The setting was traditional and on each wall were framed pictures. I kind of felt like I was in a Southern home. In a separate room was a nice size bar with flatscreen TV's. We started off with cocktails and appetizers. The dishes that were chosen: MUSSELS ALA VINO- I got them in a marinara sauce with garlic crostini for dipping. The mussels were delicious. CALAMARI FRUTTI- fried calamari with capers, black olives, sun dried tomatoes, and caramelized onions. Along with TRADITIONAL FRIED CALAMARI-with MARINARA. Both Calamari' dishes were delicious. MOZZARELLA EN CAROZZA- Served with marinara sauce. These were crunchy and the middle oozed with fresh melted mozzarella. LITTLE NECK CLAMS AND SAUSAGE- Lemon, garlic, herbs, crostini. These clams were sweet and smokey from the sausage. WINGS- (Medium Heat) the wings were crispy and flavorful. For my entree I chose their Special. STUFFED FLOUNDER WITH CRABMEAT-It was light and tasty. It also came with a vegetable risotto, which was really delicious. Other dishes that were chosen were PORK OSSO BUCCO-Vegetable risotto, and pan gravy POLLO PARMIGIANA-Boneless breast of chicken breaded with marinara and melted mozzarella POLLO MILANESE-Boneless breast of chicken pan-fried topped with arugula, onions, tomato, balsamic vinaigrette SALMON-Pan-roasted salmon with pesto sauce, seasonal vegetable saute, roasted potatoes GAMBERI SCAMPI-Jumbo shrimp, lemon, garlic, herbs, over spaghetti PENNE VODKA-Peas, prosciutto, a touch of cream, tomato, and a splash of vodka. We then went on to desserts. TIRAMISU, LEMON SORBET, TARTUFO, ICE CREAM SUNDAE, RED VELVET CAKE. Everyone in our group thoroughly enjoyed their dinner and their desserts. It was a very relaxing and peaceful evening. Our server was wonderful and very attentive. Even the owner came over and checked on us. I would definitely return and try some other dishes. read more

Excellent food, service & comfortable atmosphere! We've been dying to try this place but everytime we went by it was packed! We lucked out the other night & went at almost closing time. The bar tender Don, was awesome! Great drinks too. The owner was so friendly & more than happy to let us take our time and enjoy our meal! We will definitely be back! read more

Our waitress and bartender were outstanding! I wish I could say that about the owner and the food. My wife, daughter and I had reservations and the owner acted like we were an Inconvience telling us we were early when were on time this was right after telling us we didn't have reservations! I ordered med rare lamb chops that were well done. The calamari was absolutly flavorless. So we decided to order dessert getting it to go hoping that this would at least bring some flavor/joy to the evening. I ordered the cheesecake with fresh fruit. Not impressed by service or quality of food. Nice atmosphere tho. The pork osso bucco looked great but was dry & stringy. The side pasta with oil & garlic always good but was very under seasoned. This restaurant was a pure joy. Our server's name was Taylor and she had such a strong understanding of what a customer experience should look like. Such great service. The food ... Hats off to the chef! The food was outstanding. I had the steamers which had the best broth I have ever tasted. I followed that with the eggplant parmigiana that melted in your mouth. It was fantastic . Other patrons raved about the shrimp and scallop entree and the shrimp bruschetta appetizer. The drinks .. best cosmopolitan I have ever had out. There's a reason they were the only local restaurant with open reservations on Valentine's Day. And we didn't expect much since we'd been before and had a mediocre experience...but we decided last minute we wanted to go out and give it a shot. We didn't even get to sit...so poorly managed there were 5 parties waiting in the vestibule with no acknowledgement...the rude bartender gets a pass because each of us went and asked him where the hostess was and he was clearly frustrated. We--along with at least 3 other couples with reservations before ours--left after 20 minutes and I'm sure not one of us will be back. So many places to go for decent Italian food and even just OK service...this isn't one of them. Beware. read more

I went to their on-line menu and knew exactly what i wanted..I had looked forward to this all week ,,since the "new management" took over. I call and everything on line didn't exist. So Whomever it was that was taking my order let me order and didn't tell me that she was changing my original request to what they had available,,ie I wanted sole francaise,,she made it chicken...she did it with all the dishes .I think there might have been 1 thing that they had from their on-line menu. So I say to her "what the point of an on-line menu,if you don't have anything listed on-line?"..her response .."I don't make up the menu"..this place will not last long,,it will fall by the wayside like all the others... save you money.. read more

I suggest you try Brunello Trattoria. Their appetizers and entrees are excellent. Their bar is well stocked and their wine list, while not extensive is good. I can without hesitation say the dessert menu while not very extensive is tasty. I particularly enjoy the home made Tartufo. Had a nice meal here. One of the few places with a full bar in this area! My martini was spot on; the olives must have been vermouth-infused and perfect. The beet salad was very good. Our server was attentive, friendly and a great personality. I had the pollo dish with rosemary and butter sauce- the chicken was so tender. It could have used a tad more seasoning, but otherwise good. Dessert was a chocolate mousse cake- heaven. The lady owner also checked in regularly, was very nice. A little off the beaten path but worth the trip. It's basic Italian American food but it's done Right. I don't know why that's so hard to find, but this place nailed it. Food took a little long to come out, however we weren't in a rush so that was ok. Prices were reasonable and we enjoyed everything we ordered. They have a small bar menu that looked good as well. We tried Brunellos as we were in the area and heard decent things about it. Ordered the Caesar salad and mozzarella de Casa. Caesar salad very fresh and tasty. Mozzarella was a big club sandwich type item deep fried. Actually very tasty and filling Dinner meh! Pepperoni pizza was good. A little too thin but decent The special of veal osso bucco with charred zucchini and vegetable risotto was also decent. Not quite tender enough. The risotto had PEAS! Sacrilege in my opinion. Not friendly welcome by the owner. Sent a meal back and no one cared to get us another meal. They dropped the menu and left and didn't see anyone return, while my wife finished all her food. The food is very good but the service is very poor. Took 20 minuets to get our drinks and a while to get menus. We ordered right away because they were busy. When the food came, one of the appetizers was wrong but similar to what was ordered, so my wife kept it. Next the entries came. My wife's was correct but mine was wrong, a chicken dish instead of Wasabi tuna. Not easy to get mixed up. When I complained to the waitress she stated very indignantly, "that is what you ordered." I then talked to the owner and she was willing to take back the chicken and get me the tuna. By that time we had been there close to 2 hours and I just asked for the bill. The bill was $98 plus for items that were not what we ordered. The owner offered nothing in return considering all the problems we had. Poor business ethics. We for sure will not return. read more

When we asked if he was there the owner lied to us- he was not thereThe food was awful and we had to send back 3 plates back to the kitchen- ( there were only 4 of us). Came here last night for an Anniversary dinner. My husband booked it on open table and had good reviews then when I saw the reviews here on yelp I was taking back a bit. We decided to give it a go anyways. It was a quiet Monday night and the service was nice. I had a special Buffalo mozzarella appetizer which was tasty & my husband indulged into some complimentary bread! I had the chicken francese with double Vegetables & my husband had a chicken & sausage dinner. He loved his so much!! We recently attended a party at the restaurant on a Sunday evening. When we entered, the tables were full and we thought that the service might be slow. Not so! As it turned out we were with a group of about 50 people in the upstairs dining room. The food and service were excellent.. The antipasto platters were well filled and excellent. The calamari was well done and not rubbery. The penne pasta and salad were served quickly and quite tasty. My wife and I had veal parmigiana, which we loved. Our friend ordered salmon and she found the dish very enjoyable. Desert and coffee finished the meal. The entire group 50 people were served a high quality meal. Table service and delivery of the courses was prompt and respectful. And, all of this was in addition to a restaurant full of customers downstairs. read more

We live in Pittstown and we were going to go to Little York for Italian but decided to try this place that we've passed a thousand times. Big mistake. The service, essentially a very lazy blond woman with glasses, an annoying sense of humor and a drink "hidden" behind the bar that she was regularly hitting, was horrible. Slow, forgetful and more interested in making small talk with a couple of regulars at the bar than attending to her customers at the tables. The food I would probably give 2 1/2 stars. My son's wedding and reception were held here recently and I was very happy with the entire experience. Although the reception was originally only supposed to take place here, due to weather, plans were changed and the ceremony took place inside as well. Sophia and Jen were extremely accommodating and did everything they could to make sure everyone was comfortable and that everything went off without a hitch. Another wonderful dinner at Brunello Trattoria. We enjoyed our cocktails and salads on the patio and then had dinner inside the restaurant. From the list of specials, we both chose to start with the extremely delicious salad of mixed greens, grilled fresh peaches, walnuts, and Gorgonzola blue cheese. I can't say enough about the grilled peaches. Wow! Our dinners were very good too. My husband especially enjoyed his saltimbocca dinner. Amazing Christmas Eve dinner! The quality and portions of food were amazing. I took my 4 kids (ages 23-30) out for our traditional Christmas Eve dinner and was very happy with our food AND service! The seafood was as fresh as expected and delicious!! The prices were very reasonable based on the quality and portion. My wife and I eat dinner out often and Brunello is at the top of my list. We had a very nice dinner on a recent Sunday evening. It was quiet but there were a few other tables both in an outside. There were only 2 servers but they both made sure we were taken care of very expertly. Food was good, I really loved both my special salad and the sole francese. First of all they took their sweet time to take our order. Then when we went to order something off the specials menu they didn't have it. That was okay. But then when I ordered pasta bolognese and they bring me penne vodka. The owners daughter said that's what their bolognese was but then the waiter brought me a bowl of their actual bolognese sauce to mix in with my vodka sauce. Absolutely ridiculous. They didn't even say sorry or offer me a new dish and did not even take it off of the bill or offer me anything. The fact that the owners daughter tried to cover it up was unacceptable. Food was good.... Management was AWFUL!! After waiting more than 30 minutes for our table since they "couldn't find our open table reservation," we were finally seated. Our waitress was fine and the food was great. We ordered drinks, food, and dessert. After just finishing our dessert, the manager came over to our table and interrupted us and asked if we would mind getting up since she had another party waiting for a table. I have never been asked to leave a table before, especially after just finishing dessert 5 minutes prior. The star earning of this restaurant deserves a zero. This was truly a mess of an experience. 8 of us had reservations on a Friday night. When we arrived there were 2 other tables seated. not busy at all. Horrible from the start. it was the waitresses first night without a mentor. when she took our order she never wrote anything down. it was no surprise when the food arrived 3 of the 8 entrees were totally wrong. Shrimp Fra Diavlo instead of scampi. Another dish of shrimp that nobody ordered as well as a Pollo giambotta that never made it to the table. By this time the waitress was sent home and the bus boy took over her responsibilities. Sophia the owner of this place needs to go to polishing school. She has no owners etiquette She had no patience for listening to our service problems. Dessert was a joke. we ordered Zabaione that was served with all egg whites which is supposed to have a custard consistency. this had nothing but the egg whites and warm champagne and they had charged 9 dollars for it. The bill came and there were desserts that we never ordered added to the bill. Finally, the owner Sophia, comes to our table ..and asks if it is our first time as patrons. when we said yes she said "Do me a favor don't come back". Where do I begin. My husband and I were the only table in the place. That was our first red flag. The service was so slow. Second red flag. I ordered linguini with white clam sauce. Did I get that, nooo. They brought out linguini with whole clams. Ugh. I complained to the waitress/bartender that this is not what I ordered. She was a little confused. Linguini and clam sauce does not have whole clams. I expected chopped clams. I proceeded to explain this to the waitresses but she was unfazed. Third red flag. I was even charged for my dinner. The food here is very good, fresh vegetables and high quality well-cooked ingredients. Their brick-oven pizza is great! This is one of the few places in Flemington that serves alcohol and it's nice to have wine or a cocktail with a nice dinner out. Staff is good. The pseudo-Sinatra that is constantly playing is a bit obnoxious but that's the worst thing I can say about the place. Casual atmosphere.
