I love the energy of this hidden gem in downtown Venice. I heard two different pianists, one legit jazz with a fantastic bassist and the other a "famous" face from the 80's who plays an eclectic mix of tunes while everyone sings along. Not much is open late in this part of town, so it's a welcome edition to the island. read more

4 stars???? Easily the most over rated place in America, I gave it a star because I had to. I guess I don't get it, some old lady playing piano justifies $7 Coors Light bottles?!?! My wife tried to order off the cocktail menu and get a grapefruit juice and Kettle One. Waitress told us no it's not actually Kettle One because they don't have any liquor. Horrible, I guess I get it this town appeared to be lacking any other venues for entertainment but this isn't the place to go..... Please... don't go! read more

We were subjected to extremely rude and insulting treatment by the waitstaff. While it's impossible to evaluate someone's true intentions, it bears mention that we were the youngest people in the venue by several decades. We came early on a relatively busy night. Fortunately, there were several tables open, including one with three surrounding chairs. Before we sat down, a waitress approached us and aggressively told us we needed to order and pay immediately. We ordered two glasses of wine ($13 each) and paid before even sitting down. After we had paid and sat down, the waitress immediately walked up to the people behind us and asked if we were in their way, or were blocking their view. It was a comical exchange, where she literally talked past us as if we were schoolchildren, rather than two 30 year olds. She then ordered us to move our chairs to a different location. After we complied, she then told us to move our chairs again. She then asked if we had brought the chairs in from outside (a strange suggestion, since they were obviously high top chairs that matched all the others in the venue). Eventually she told us we should just go sit outside, there wasn't any space left. At this point, there were about twelve people in the venue. We were so embarrassed by the exchange and scolding that we complied. So we went outside and watched the show through the slightly-ajar door. From my perspective, taking our money and then not allowing us to sit down is unethical and likely deliberate. About ten minutes after we sat down outside, a large party of inebriated patrons (who perhaps represented the venue's preferred clientele) walked in. They were immediately seated at the open table. They were not asked to pre-order or pre-pay. In fact, over the next thirty minutes we watched the venue completely fill. At $13 per glass, I would say that this place is a hard pass unless you are a member of the owners' preferred group. read more

Vast wine selection and I appreciated the variety of 'by the glass' options. My parents live in Venice, and the zebra lounge is a must-go-to spot while I am visiting. It is a very small piano lounge offering a great wine selection. The space fills up very quickly, so if you want a good seat around the piano, I'd get there soon after it opens. Ari is the owner and runs the whole show. He's super friendly and gets wine orders taken and delivered quickly, even as a one man show. The piano players have been hit or miss for me. Tom and Marty are the ones you want to see. Check the schedule by the door and make sure you go when they are playing. Great voices, amazing piano playing, and they really capture the room and make for a great evening. read more

The place is so small it's like someone's living room. The wine was 12 bucks a glass for Woodbridge poured from a liter bottle which costs about 8.00 dollars a bottle. The place was also very sketchy . read more

Last Friday night visited this bar restaurant. The atmosphere is definitely what you would call different, but eclectic. You have to come for the entertainment and to have a few drinks. The Broadway music sang at the piano is amazing. They engage the people that come there and you feel like you are part of the act. Everyone should try this place just to have a relaxed enjoyable and fun evening. We would have given it five stars but the food selection is very minimal. We did have the meatballs and they were excellent. Would definitely come back again. read more

Definitely NOT closed. What a great little piano bar with the best hospitality, wine, and creative small but favorable Italian appetizers-and personal pizzas. We had 3 different glasses of wine, a margarita pizza, white pizza, and a panini. They also had beer, some mixed cocktails, and desserts. Went to the Venice Christmas walk to meet up with friends at 7 pm for dinner. Afterwards, we were walking through basically deserted Miami Avenue to get to our parked car, when we heard lovely piano music, and laughter, singing. Curiosity had us looking into the Zebra wine bar, and what a delightful, friendly place to stop in for a glass of wine and a little Christmas Carol sing-a-long. Wine was delicious but the draw was the music and happy feeling among the patrons. Every song, Christmas or not, had people joining in. Music from the 60-70's. I hate to recommend this place, because it's not huge, and I hope we can always get in! Our wonderful, helpful waitress, Brenda, made us feel so welcome. Will definitely go back read more

Wine and beer only. Don't go hungry they only offer 3 desserts and a Brie. It is a quaint little piano bar with an adorable decor. It is still lacking a piano player that engages the guests. I have been twice so far but I never stayed for more than 1 drink. I will continue to stop by in hopes of finding an engaging piano player some day. read more

If you ever find yourself in Venice, FL and are looking for a delightful evening - my wife and I were looking for a place to relax and enjoy a great evening. Boy are we glad we gave La Dolce Vita a try - pleasant ambiance, a nice selection of wines and beer (for the budget minded they have teh WOW - Wine of the Week and various specials each night). We enjoyed a plate of cheese and antipasta a very nice bottle of Montepulciano with excellent service all at a fair price. Top put the icing on the cake there was very good entertainment place a wide mix of high quality music without a cover charge and we met a very nice couple who we've remained friends with We'll be back for another great evening many times over - highly recommended!! read more

What a perfect little treasure.. Being a resident of Venice, we recently needed a venue to have a wining out experience with about 40 friends.. we chose La Dolce Vita.. A wonderful smaller venue for enjoying a nice glass of wine and listening to some decent music. Wines while somewhat limited are well chosen. Light fare complements the wine nicely. Friendly local crowd. I really don't understand the criticism re the wine pour. It's a standard pour and you re not being charged a cover for the music. It's hard to find decent music that isn't the "walking dead" dancing to Lawrence Welk", especially off season, just sayin. read more
