I really really want to like this place, it has a great bar, but the food side is troubled on so many fronts, they really need to reconsider their kitchen competency. We didn't come in for a while, because the byline "An Inspired Grille" was just too fussy, we want "A Neighborhood Joint," which actually is what The Lobby is. We joined friends and found out this is the place we've been wanting. "Inspired Grille" smacks of fancy snacks and $20 sandwiches, this place features Tater Tots and Chicken Wings. First food complaint. WTF is up with the iceberg lettuce? Seems as if that crap lands on almost every plate. Does "Inspired Grille" mean deep fried with cheapo Iceburg lettuce. (Seriously, ditch the Iceberg, it sinks your menu.) The appetizers are fine, but my "stuffed burger" was tough and dry. Potato soup was SALTY, did anyone in the kitchen taste this before sending it out. The Catfish Po Boy is an excellent portion, but the blackened preparation is over spiced and over salty (I swear the chef must have no tastebuds or he/she smokes a pack a day). Don't order the red beans and rice, they're so disappointing. So here's how to dine at The Lobby, because it really is a great spot to drink if you HATE the LoDo crap like me: 1. Order a "House Burger" and add toppings for 50-cents each. It won't be cooked to death like the stuffed burgers (tried them twice, FAIL both times, but they were nice enough to offer a replacement). 2. Order the Catfish Poboy fried, not blackened. 3. Skip the Pork Loin: What's wrong with roasted pork loin? Maybe the restaurant should say "A Busy Deep Fryer" instead of "Inspired Grille." 4. The red beans and rice are so disappointing, I'm not brave enough for the Etoufee. 5. Lobby Pasta was good 2 out of 3 times. Seriously, if you don't like it, they are nice about taking it back to the kitchen. 6. Skip dessert. Whomever came up with the Red Velvet Cake with Coconut, should be FIRED IMMEDIATELY. This dish never had any merit: a cake roll sprinkled with coconut? It's DOG people, DOG. The Chocolate Apple Bread Pudding isn't fresh. I'm not going to wreck any more outings with a crummy dessert. "Dear Lobby, Dessert is the opportunity for you to make a fantastic final impression. Don't fck it up!" Final summary: As a Ballpark resident, thanks for bringing a great bar into the neighborhood. The Lobby truly has terrific servers and bartenders. Get your food together, it's a mess. Each disappointment outweighs what is done well, and makes me more hesitant to try something I haven't tried before. Stop disappointing, it's not acceptable. In this job market, can't you find better kitchen talent to put out truly INSPIRED affordable food. Gotta tell you, now we'll hit The Lobby for a couple of drinks, but if it's before dinner we go somewhere else and eat, then drink there. We're looking forward to drinking on the patio, but if the food doesn't come together, we may head somewhere else altogether. Don't screw yourself, it's a cute place. read more

I had dinner here this weekend. I had the stuffed burger with cream cheese and jalapenos. Awesome. So juicy and tender like a taste explosion. Chose the hush puppies for a side, like little corn bread nuggets, not your Long Johns hush puppies. My wife had the Apple Salad? I think that was what it was called anyway, bed of mixed greens with apples, cheese and a vinaigrette. She really liked it. On ambiance, place is really nice I love exposed bricks, comfortable lighting. It has an upscale feel that you would expect to find at a much more expensive restaurant. Great patio, feels like a garden. Can't wait to spend some time there on nice days. Service-you can tell they just opened and are working out the kinks. I think this restaurant is totally miscategorized as being not good for kids. I have a toddler whom I've taken to The Lobby several times and he adores their kids menu. No Kraft Mac N Cheese here, which I appreciate. Fresh chicken, fresh veggies, and drinks that come in a coconut-shaped cup. The staff even go out of their way to be friendly to our child and were great about getting his food out early and etc. And the atmosphere is casually elegant and refreshingly non-Red Robiney. The older of us LOVE love the food here - it really does feel gourmet without the price tag. They just added this grilled brie and fruit compote salad item to their menu that I keep having dreams about. So don't hesistate to take your whole family there, they won't be dissapointed. read more

Came in here sunday for brunch, as my friend had told me about 9 dollar bottomless mimosas?! Score! That was just a tiny bonus compared to the rest of the experience. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and snagged one of the last open tables on the patio, which is gorgeous. I ordered the breakfast burrito that was lightly smothered with a pork green chile that was yumyumyummy! My husband ordered a jalapeno cream cheese burger that he loooved. It looked super juicy and fresh. My mimosa glass was never even close to empty, and our waitress was a cute tattoed girl that I doubt stopped smiling the whole time we were there. Overall, the best Denver brunch I've had in months. Why wait forever in line at snooze when this place is right down the street. read more

What happened? It all boils down to laziness and lack of imagination in the kitchen. I can't say much more for the management who decided to pile up all the patio furniture against one wall for the winter: the place looks closed. The servers and bar staff are nice folks, but the food is uneven and unreliable. The house specialty: tater tots. Brunch: don't order toast, it comes out barely toasted. Sauces that should be creamy are either gloppy or broken. The "stuffed burger" idea seems interesting, but requires that the burger be overcooked in order to cook the stuffing. This place showed a lot of promise in concept, but in execution it sucks. Fire the chef and manager and find people with enthusiasm, creativity and energy. read more

I had an absolutely amazing time at The Lobby! I'm visiting from Florida, and Jackie along with her trainee Krista made me feel so welcomed from the moment I sat down. Their service was warm, attentive, and genuine. It honestly felt like being taken care of by friends. Jackie's professionalism and energy are outstanding, and you can already see that Krista is going to be just as incredible with her guidance. And the food? Absolutely phenomenal. Every bite was packed with flavor and made the whole experience even better. Between the incredible food and the top-notch service, The Lobby has definitely become a must-visit spot for me whenever I'm in town. Last Friday, our company recently had its annual party at The Lobby and it was a huge success. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel so welcome and catered to our every need. Christian and our waitress were exceptional - they were always friendly, helpful, and made the experience even more enjoyable. The presentation of the food was impressive, and the taste surpassed our expectations. We were pleasantly surprised that the hot items were still hot until the very end, and the fruit parfaits were a hit with everyone. The staff was incredibly accommodating throughout the entire event and communication was excellent. We had a fantastic time, and we can't wait to come back to The Lobby again. read more

After two visits, it's clear this is a great place to drink, but only order food after you're good and drunk. I swear that whomever is in charge of the kitchen has to be the laziest and most uncreative cook in town. Ugly preparations -- sliders with a hunk of iceberg lettuce, artichoke dip with stale pitas, salty soups that taste like they've been in the tureen for days, stupid "stuffed" burgers that have to be cooked to rubber because the filling is inside next to raw meat. The best thing I've eaten here? Deep fried tater tots. At least I now know. My roommate kept bugging me to go to brunch and finally went without me. We just FELL IN LOVE with this spot today. First impression was amazing, our server Ben was super attentive and accommodating to us when we wanted to share our drink. He suggested the bacon bloody which had the most fantastic rim on it. Sweet, spicy, dried onions?! Fantastic taste. The bloody itself was not too heavy and all the flavor was there. We got the Colorado omelette and the We ride at dawn burger both had such delicious profiles and we were truly impressed. The tomatoes were so fresh, as was my little side salad. He sees people, understands them, and balances firmness with politeness in the most professional way, even when handling pushy customers. His calm confidence set the tone for the entire evening and immediately made us feel welcome. I have learned to expect disappointment from downtown Denver restaurants and The Lobby is no exception. The $12 burger had bits of bone and gristle that are only found in the cheapest of ground meats. They would do better to buy the far superior $6 burger from Tony's Market and resell it. The wait staff consisted of tattooed biker chicks who are politely annoyed with the customers. The total bill was over $80 for two people but the quality was worth $20 tops. All in jest of course. I heard about the tower of mimosas from other members but seeing is rather awesome. Five or more people get this tower that is over four feet tall. The food rocks as well with the only place in Denver I've seen with seared ahi tuna nachos. New Sunday Funday place to be! Side note... Recently, a not for profit I volunteer for was looking for a venue for a member mixer. We had a few considerations that made booking a venue more difficult (I.e. Space requirements, minimum, etc.). The lobby and our event planner, Meg, were incredibly helpful and accommodating to us. They were communicative and gave us many options. Our event went by smoothly and our members not only loved the spaces but truly enjoyed the food and drinks as well. I went with a group of friends for an extended Sunday brunch. We were a large group so we had to wait around for about 20 minutes. The entire place was packed. $10 bottomless mimosas were the main attraction and they didn't disappoint, our server always kept our glasses full. Breakfast was pretty good, I had the burrito and really enjoyed it. The food prices seem a little steep but average for Denver. Great atmosphere, very friendly staff.
