I really really wanted to like this place. A modest family ran business which I love supporting. But that's the only positive. My fiancé and I drove and went to the business. They are still operating as take out only with a small outdoor area to eat. We walked in and a female cashier took our order. She was indifferent and pretty rude in the manner in which she took our order. I asked a few questions about the food being our first time at the establishment, got rushed rude answers in return. We ordered the local press burger and opted for truffle Parmesan fries. The burger and fries came out to about $19.50 The fried chicken sandwich and opted for sweet potato fries which came out to about $16 Then 6 wings for $8. The prices were really really expensive for what we got. I don't mind paying for quality but all the food was run of the mill regular. And a side of sauce was $1??? Ok, we hit this fairly new joint this Friday 3/8/19; after driving around Manhattan all morning running errands... we just wanted out of the city and normally just would have went to the Cross Bay Diner ... So we took a shot and yelped best burger so here we are; We were three so we ordered the Local Press Burger x 3 swapped out the cheddar for American cheese & asked for our bacon to be cooked soft; all three burgers ordered to medium ..... we also went with there Caesar salads and added sweet potato fries & an order of onion rings ... The burgers were cooked to perfection with that Lil crust ....really good burgers ... their house special sauce works well with the burger.... Tip; don't be shy ask for salt & paper and mayo, ketchup and any other table needs .... Onion rings & sweet potato fries were also on point .... Our server Carlos who apparently loves to sing provided us with great service all the way through & checked in to make sure we were good ... and we were good !!!! So much potential. This restaurant really has the decor and ambiance of a restaurant you would find in the city- not in Ozone Park. I really like that they have made themselves stand out. The menu does not even include all they offer- as they don't elaborate what the brunch specials are and that they have a full coffee 'bar.' I'd come back to try their chai latte or matcha latte. So far for my first time here I tried the bbq bacon burger with a fried egg and Cajun fries. I felt the burger could have been juicier, but really enjoyed the fries. I also had a bite of the turkey burger and it was full of flavor- yet didn't actually taste like turkey. If I could I'd do 3 and a half stars. My daughters and I had the best time visiting The Local Press. Two weekends ago we took a trip to New York to see BTS in concert. After flying and traveling from the airport to our Airbnb we were so hungry, I needed to find a place to eat fast. I found The Local Press on Yelp which had great reviews and was about a 10-minute drive from where we were staying. As soon as we walked in I had a great feeling we were going to enjoy ourselves. We were seated at the largest booth that was shaped in a semi-circle which made sharing super easy. We had a great view of the entire restaurant. Just being back in New York alone was exactly what I needed and having all of my daughters with me was a sweet treat. I ordered a Carona with Lime and some lemonade for my girls. Our waitress was on point the entire time and did a great job with our large order. I ordered the Salmon Burger which was one of the best I've had. It was thick, juicy, and tasted so good. You can't go wrong with it. It's grilled to perfection. We also had the Shrimp Taco's which didn't come with some little pieces of shrimp. They were large, full of flavor and satisfying with every bite. We also ordered the Fried Chicken Burger (which comes with fries), a 6 piece Bourbon BBQ Wings (which they got wrong and brought us a 6 piece Classic Buffalo Wings. Our waitress apologized and made sure they cooked us what we ordered and allowed us to take the other wings without being charged). We also ordered the Mac & Cheese...OMG!, they were delicious! It's a creamy macaroni, finished in the oven topped with buttery breadcrumbs. Sound mouthwatering? Well, it was. And lastly, we shared a Chicken Quesadilla. We were a little hungry, could you tell? Our goal was to try a little bit of a lot in order to give the food a good try and to have some yummy leftovers. The Local Press has got a good thing going for themselves. I'm glad we found it. We spent a few hours eating, chatting, laughing and just having a grand ole' time. The place is comfortable, laid back, and relaxed. We felt at home. If you're ever in the Ozone Park area in New York you've got to check them out. You won't be disappointed. The only thing that seems to be a down-side and consensus is that the wait is long. I would agree. We did have to wait longer than I was expecting but, our order was large so that might have had something to do with it. However, was it worth the wait? Absolutely. Tried it for the first time today and I was very pleased . I ordered over the phone and they were very patient and accommodating. The food was ready in the time they said and pick up was polite and easy . My daughter enjoyed her salad with the cilantro lime dressing and crispy chicken . I was meeting with my sister aka bestie for dinner with our kids and we wanted a place that was kid friendly and food they will love. Well the kids did enjoy the food and seating, but I didn't like that I had to keep repeating my order and I had to get up and ask the waitress for water. We usually drink a full glass of water before eating and we could not find the waitress to get water and our silverware/napkins. She was very nice and polite, but they may have been understaffed when we went. There was a few other families there but it was not noisy except for a child begging his mom to go home. The food was amazing. I asked for a cheese burger (3) times and the waitress still brought a bacon cheese burger. It was very good and extremely juicy. Small place, it was quite and slow on a Wednesday afternoon. I came in craving a sandwich, so I ordered a Cuban Sandwich with regular fries. My food arrived with really nice presentation (I didn't expect that, I just wanted to eat!) and the gentlemen that took my order and served my food was on point with keeping me up to date with my order and taking care of any concerns. Service was A+ and I really appreciated it. The Cuban with regular fries in my opinion was perfect (it just hits different lol). I ordered from Uber Eats and wasn't disappointed. We sampled the Shrimp Tempura, mozzarella sticks and the crispy chicken sandwich. The Shrimp Tempura has a light crust and a mayo and dark sweet sauce on top with micro greens. The mozzarella sticks were crispy. They didn't have any marinara sauce on the side. A little disappointing but the flavor made up for it. And the crispy chicken sandwich was a good size. Plenty to share. It had cole slaw on it with a spicy mayo. Really good! Cozy burger shop with a hometown atmosphere. My fiancee and I came here for a late dinner. They have two beers on tap including Stella and Sam Adams Cold Snap at the time we were there. They had some bottles and wines too. No liquor. I had the local burger while my fiancée had a fried chicken sandwich with pickles instead of coleslaw. Both were delicious. They had an interesting item called the press platter which had mozzarella sticks, chicken tenders, onion rings, and fried shrimp. It sounded like the perfect feast after having a few drinks. The Local Press was a pleasant surprise. I stopped in to grab a menu one afternoon after an appointment near by. The decor is cool , nice mix of urban trend with a splash of rustic, but not over done. There's a reasonable amount of seating and the bathroom is clean. +++ I only interacted with one of the staff members. She provided quality customer service. Initially she seemed a little reserved, then after a few questions about the menu, she became more engaged. I ordered the Local Press Burger, my colleague ordered the steak wrap. My burger was made perfectly and the fries on the side were really good. Really good portion sizes. The lemonade was recommended, so I gave it a try. Not bad, but not the best that I've had. Went to the local press on 2/8/2020. We ordered a white sangria, sweet chili wings, the local press burger, and fish tacos. The food was good, and the sangria was great, but the wait was ridiculous. We waited forever for menus, our food, and the check. The waiter was very nice but i don't think i would recommend this place due to the slow service. Also, the food is overpriced. It has a decent setup inside.food fairly priced. For appetizers i had buttermilk chicken tenders. Oddly for an appetizer it came with French Fries.(Advice: take the fries out. Cooked to perfection and well seasoned. Overall good Experience. It has potential. Compared to similar eateries you guys might wanna make some tweeks. For example, with the grill and food stations sharing the space with the dining area, maybe consider letting customers order at the counter then sitting down to eat. (Especially since it's not a uniformed or formal server staff). The spot has a modern look + Modern plates/cups... the plating of the food should also be modern and more appealing. The Local Press has great lunch specials. My favorite meal to order from them is the grilled chicken sandwich lunch special. The sandwich comes with avocado, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and cheese on 3 pieces of bread. There are a few different options to choose from for a side, and I've always gotten the soup. Their clam chowder is really good. It's a giant meal. I normally split it with my husband, and it's really enjoyable. The staff there are great, too. We had an errand to run in Queens and were desperately hungry with a 7 year old who was getting downright hangry. We spotted The Local Press on Yelp! And decided to give it a try. The location is a bit weird, kind of a mini strip mall with a laundromat, vape shop and The Local Press, whose signage isn't easy to spot. On a cold, wet Saturday afternoon around 1:15pm, we walked in to a nicely designed space that was dead empty, typically not a good sign but we were greeted by a super welcoming guy and decided to give it a try. The food didn't come quick but the mushroom tacos and cheeseburger, Caesar salad and fries were spot on! Essentially, they serve modern bistro / Castro pub food some right. As a life long Queens resident I am always seeking new foodie finds and this café brings life into the Ozone Park community. Customer service is turtle slow, amid I was the only customer in the whole business on a Saturday afternoon, with stolid and apathetic personalities without any visibility of enthusiasm ready, able and willing to serve and to work. Ergo four stars. I was not immediately greeted upon entrance and no pleasantries exchanged with smiles nor was I given a menu when seated which I had to use the paper takeout menu. Open kitchen which is visible to guests. The atmosphere is clean and modern ambiance. This café's settings is different because it is modern with table service which is unusual for Queens. Despite the modern ambiance the bill is handwritten on a old fashioned "guest check" as it is not a computerized printout. Employees appear chit chatty amongst themselves or mostly sitting to click away on smartphone gadgets than working or operating a restaurant's vital business functions. I did give it the o' college try. Turkey burger $12 This burger was somewhat dry but the pepper jack cheese was the only glue to sustain flavor. There were minimal blend of herbs and spices. Thankfully, the actual turkey meat was not oily. Nevertheless, it hold the fort with solidarity throughout the day until dinner time. All sandwiches and burgers are accompanied with choice of fries or house salad. The house salad was filled with excessive large chunks of avocado that it dominated the salad, oh hold the avocado, as I was never enamored with this vegetable. Blah! It did contain other vegetables as spinach, cherry tomatoes, chopped cucumber, and chopped red onions with vinegar dressing. I should have decided on fries but desired a healthier option of vegetables. Food is placed on flat slate black plates with a single sheet of newspaper as a placemat could be swayed either way as a unique or modern trend setter or a health code violation since newspaper is known to be dirty and the print bleeds. Cabernet Sauvignon $7 Average. I was not informed with the wine's appellation, vintage year, country of origin, or the fermentation in oak barrels vs. steel tanks which I like to know as a avid wine enthusiast. The female server does not appear knowledgeable in wine. It was served in a curved double old-fashioned than a traditional wine glass perhaps to be consist with their sleek modern atmosphere look.
