I'm so happy the Local Press has opened back up again! This was my first time visiting but it definitely won't be my last. The fried chicken sandwich was so perfectly cooked; crispy but moist. My father got a burger and it was also cooked just as we had ordered (medium, still pink in the middle) and was to die for. Great little place that opened up in this neighborhood that is very different from the surrounding eateries. The place is small and cozy, about 6 to 7 tables but it's very modern. We stopped by for lunch, but the service was a bit slow- but no points off. They only have one server that was also answering the phone. I'm assuming it's not a busy during lunch hours. We had a Cuban sandwich- feedback, it was delicious but ham is sliced too thick- no a big deal, a caprice salad, also delicious on the feedback- I didn't have it, but it looked like there was a pesto on the bread which was then toasted panini style (same for the Cuban sandwich bread) for the toast not the pesto. I had the tomato, veggie bisque with chicken. It was as exactly as described- you can taste the veggie tomatoes flavor that blended together but was different. Really good! Also, forgot to take a pic- sorry. I also had the Cobb salad and it was also really great. Crispy lettuce, good bacon and blue cheese and afresh hard boiled egg. They have an awesome coffee machine that grinds the beans fresh for every cup of coffee- not only is it consistent, but delicious. I would just go there just for the coffee. They also offered us dessert- we had creme brûlée and chocolate lava cake. The feedback on the creme brûlée, it was delicious, my lava cake wasn't warmed up to the right temp- so no lava effect. Found this little gem on Yelp so I thought it was worth writing a review. First order was a deliver and it was good. Tonight I ate there with a group of friends. Food was great I had the fish and chips; friends had the burgers; they taste like they were BBQ on a grill ,so good. One suggestion time Mgmt. some food was a little Lukewarm ... they took beautiful burgers off the grill and they sat too long while waiting for the other food. We wanted to grab them and just bring them to the table. The nacho were good too but meat needed to be warmer. I'm a person that likes my meal hot (temp wise) Chicken wings and garlic bread were great. I would def go back again they are new local restaurant and might need to adjust a bit. They've finally reopened post covid and I'm so glad! I was worried they wouldn't since they were closed for quite a bit but they're back and everything is delicious. The menu has a wide selection to satisfy most palates (lunch-dinner menu.. no breakfast) The decor of the place is simple in modern rustic ways; I personally like it a lot. Pros: My fiance and I must've dine here over a dozen times. The food is always constant with the portion size, quality, presentation and taste. Food is overall 5 stars... main reason why we always return. Cons: Ok, like I mentioned my fiance and I dined here over a dozen times, you would think by now staff would be a bit more warm and welcoming to returning customers for obvious reasons. My chicken was cooked perfectly, along with Avoacado, tomatoes, roasted garlic aioli and triple decker brioche. #nomnom. Thanks to the chief, Andrew. They serve the meal with real silverware and quality napkins. The interior decor is very moden/Hipster feeling, Kimberly did an awesome job, I felt like I was in a Cafe in Brooklyn or Astoria, Queens. We decided to give this place a try, and very happy we did. Amazing people and food. Place was very clean and looked newly rennovated. You can tell that the owners care about the quality of everything: food presentation, ingredients, tevana products, etc. - even the napkins were high quality lol. Small place so I wouldn't bring over 6 people on a busy day. You can see the chef prepare the food. My fiancee and I had the pulled pork nachos to start. I saw them slice tortillas and fried them. Sooo good! They used actual cheddar cheese that melted in the oven and not that artificial cheese. Pulled pork was flavorful and tasty. Not too salty, thank God. I had the steak sandwich and I replaced the swiss cheese for mozzarella. I thought it'll be sliced mozzarella but it was fresh, which was awesome but made the sandwich so heavy. I was full but I kept eating lol. Def a delicious sandwich but the cut of meat wasn't great. It was chewy and had too much fat trimming. Had the fries with it but it needed more time in the fryer. It was very soft. Overall, great service with friendly people and food was beautifully plated. They even gave us complimentary cookies for dessert. I've been here approx 10 times already. Their chicken quesadilla is the BEST QUESADILLA IN NY. No joke. Their burgers are great! I consider the ceasar salad dressing is a lil strong... and to add chicken to the salad costs $5 bucks. Too expensive for an add on. Sundays 12 to 4pm???? You guys should open earlier on Sundays... The place is nice if you wanted a place to catch up with friends. It was open and felt clean. There's parking outside. In terms of food, I would give it a 3/5 (hence the rating). By looking at the food, it looks delicious. But my complaints lies in either over-salting the caramelized onions in the burger or under-seasoning the batter in the fish tacos and onion rings. Cajun fries were pretty good though. Also, it was on the pricier side. There are no "free sides", which there usually are with burgers. Comes with an extra charge for all sides. And not to mention the burger and tacos were already pricy as is. The meal (taste, quantity, etc) was not worth the price. Sauce was $1, and I felt like the waiter was kind of persistent on the sauce. I don't like giving less than 4 stars, but I didn't think it was that good. All I can say is WOW! I seriously cannot believe a place like this exist in Queens. My gf and I were very impressed with the menu selections that it was so hard to choose. We started off with shrimp appetizer and it was fried beautifully paired with an amazing sauce. Our entree is what stole the show. My girlfriend had the fried chicken sandwich which was not only fried very well but seasoned great and paired with a fresh slaw and truffle fries. I had the burger which was juicy and flavorful. Decided to give it a shot and I have to say that I would come back again! I ordered a spicy chicken sandwich with fries and it was delicious. Came here with my kids and wife for dinner on Saturday, it was a packed house but the staff was very attentive and pleasant. The customers service at this place is wonderful. The server was polite and helped us answer some menu questions. They were playing the best jams (90s hip hop) and the place was spotless! I was rather disappointed with the food. From reading the reviews I was expecting more. Unfortunately, the food was bland and had no real "omg yum" moments. The "garlic monkey bread" was a hot dog bun pressed flat with the fixings. The bread tasted like it was on the verge of going bad and the pull apart was this stale bun cut up in 6 pieces. I ordered the cubano and it looked nothing like the pictures on this yelp site. Again, the cubano was in a stale hotdog bun pressed and cut in half. With a sandwich like that, it's crucial to have the right bread to make sure the juices from the meat don't soak up in the bread making it too soggy. Why have I waited to so long to come here!? The local press is definitely a go to chill restaurant, the service is great they are on top of your every need. Although the sangria could be better I really loved the chicken and waffles. We also ordered the shrimp tacos which were delicious and the shrimp were a decent size. Definitely a must try. 5 stars are based on service, food, location and atmosphere combined. If you live in the area you know we have very limited food options. With that being said, this is a true gem for it being so close to home. We tried this place out for the first time about 3 weeks ago. We had the fish tacos and salmon burger with sweet potato fries. We got my mother an order of the fish tacos to go and she enjoyed them which speaks volumes. She's tried them from many different so she sets the bar high for fish tacos. Salmon burger was delicious, highly recommend! We came back tonight to try the shrimp tacos. I give them 3/5 stars. Not their best dish but it was decent. They must've recognized us from the first time. Staff was super friendly, cashier offered us free sangria while we waited. Tasty, but only if you prefer sweet sangria. Overall great place! I believe this is the only place in the Woodhaven / Ozone Park area that has Parmesan truffle fries and for that, I'm truly grateful bcus I usually have to travel to Brooklyn or the city to get me some. This place has really good food. Burgers are great. Cooked to order as requested. Here is my gripe. I live in Howard Beach, exactly 2.6 miles from this place. I called to order for delivery and because I was over the 2 mile mark they wanted to charge me a $10 delivery charge. WTF! So if I lived by PS 207 which is the 2 mile mark, I can get delivery for $2, but because I'm at 164th Avenue its $10. If it wasn't for my wife insisting on wanting the burger and then going to pick it up I would have cancelled the order. It's a shame. I could understand adding a charge if it was going to broad channel, you have to go over the bridge and it is significantly further away as far as delivers go, but not $10. Great gem in the neighborhood. This restaurant has been staying pretty consistant since opening. They excel at a lot of things. I appreciate the way the chef takes a fresh look at things even down to the French fries. The cajun fries were amazing. The burgers are great. Large and flavorful. The chicken panini with mozzarella and roasted peppers is delicious as well. We enjoyed everything that we ordered. If I can make one critique, it would be the buffalo wings were a little slacking. Great food and great service. I can't wait for them to start serving beer & alcohol in Mid February. Last night I had there Fried Chicken and mac and cheese. It was really good. I couldn't finish it all because it was a big portion. The food is even better the next day as leftovers. The biscuit that came with my fried chicken order changed my life. I also went there a couple of weeks before and had the Fried Chicken sandwich/burger which comes with a coleslaw topping. This is a great local place (no pun intended). It has a rustic/industrial feel inside with just enough seating. It is located in a small shopping mall with limited parking, but you might get lucky. For appetizers we ordered Sweet Chili Wings EXTRA CRISPY!! They were great, wish I would have ordered more. Then I had the Local burger with sautéd onions and fully loaded fries. I could have done without the loaded fries because when the cheese hardened it was hard to separate and eat the fries. My boyfriend got the parmigiana truffle fries and I loved those. We also had a little bit of a wait to get our food but it wasn't too bad since we had an appetizer to munch on.
