This place is like every other storage place, lures you in with a cheap rate, then raises the rate every few months, and on top of that, there's a whole bunch of surcharges. Who's heard of an energy surcharge? And why do I have to pay it? Who knows. Insurance - they charge an extra $12 insurance for "my protection" and will only take it off when I send my renters / house insurance. Why does it matter? If I don't have insurance I lost my stuff. If I have insurance and something happens, my insurance company will still handle the insurance, whether or not I showed you a copy of my insurance. My insurance on my personal items should not matter. It's just another way for them to charge extra fees and make it difficult for you to remove fees. If there's a way for them to rip you off, they will. read more

If you're looking for storage in Milford CT area - PLEASE read this first!!! This place is a ripoff - textbook definition. I began renting a locker in spring of 2023 at a rate of about $85 a month. Guess how many times they jacked my rates up in 18 months -- FOUR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Finally, at the last increase - a $20 increase that pushed my monthly bill to $145 I came to me senses and closed it out. But here's the final insult. They claim to have let customers know by email that if you close out - YOU HAVE TO BE OUT BY FIRST OF THE MONTH ... WHAT!!!???? I closed my account on March 3, figuring I'd be issued a pro-rated refund. Wrong! They kept it!!! Well, I hope they choke on it. A call to their office informed me "You must have missed the email." They couldn't even give me the courtesy on March 3 to just say, "Hey, you know you're going to lose the whole month!" I guess they figure most people just won't care. I needed a place to store some of my stuff while I was wait for my house to be built. I decided to go with the lock up because they had a decent online special and they were close to the highway so I could stop there a d grab things if needed. The security is great, lots of cameras, 2 huge indoor loading bays, climate control, and decent hours. They have gone up on their prices within a few months of getting the unit, I wasn't happy about that. Over all a clean, secure, and reasonably priced storage facility. This is one of those Secret diamond places. The place is immaculate and the service is top notch! They are always friendly, kind, and receiving when you enter the building. You don't feel like you are a chore to this establishment. They go out their way to ensure you have the right size, the right fit, the right service and they even have a free truck! Listen you can't find a better value, coupled with such a nice facility and you feel safe and storing your belongings. You can tell that they check to ensure that there is no one that is not supposed to be there in the facility. I totally recommend The Lock Up in Milford. They have been very helpful and more than accommodating to our local nonprofit organization. I met this group of people at one of the chamber events and they extended a hand and they did not fail they came through with their offer! What astounded me more was as we grew they grew with us! I have been a customer at The Lockup going on three years. During the pandemic, my fees became delinquent for one month. I spoke to the office manager, CHRISTINA MEOLI, who assured me that if I made sure I paid my fees the following month, I would be assessed another $20 late fee, but I would be fine. When I received my statement in February, not only was I assessed fees of more the $100, I was told my unit had been placed in auction. When I called to speak with Meoli, she denied that she had given me the wrong information, she yelled and talked over me and refused to listen to what I was trying to say. I stated that with us being in a pandemic it would seem they'd be a bit more compassionate. Her response, in February, 2021, was that Covid was more than a year ago! What an idiot!! many people are still losing their lives and millions still out of work! What planet does she live on because it's not earth!!! Her customer service skills need refreshing! The Lockup used to be a nice place for storage needs. Those days are over! read more

Fantastic facility! Very clean, well-maintained. And one of the managers at the store couldn't of been more patient, helpful. Or kind. I accidentally booked a reservation at another location. This woman was able to take care of that issue and get me into a unit in her facility no problem. She walked me through every step of the way.
