Surprisingly good food for a Sports Bar, I mean really good. Its a comfortable place to go watch a game or just have a drink

About a 2-2.5: Funny story: We came here, thinking this was the Italian Carmine's... IYKYK - Since we already took a rideshare to this place, we decided to just give them a try. Their menu offers various apps, tacos/nachos, wings, flatbreads, salads, sandwiches, pastas, entrees, and sides. We ordered: +Cajun Chicken Penne - penne pasta in a cajun garlic cream sauce with onions and sundried tomatoes, with an addition of shrimp; shrimp was slightly overcooked, but the cajun sauce was creamy and tasty +Grilled Salmon - set on top of risotto and a side of vegetables; the salmon itself was bland, and the risotto and the vegetables were forgettable Complimentary bread was served, which was warm, and tasty with the side of butter. I drive by Carmine's almost everyday and wondered how the food is. Finally stopped in to check it out for dinner. Looks like they have happy hour daily as well as daily specials like wings $3 off on Thursday's, Tuesday is bingo night - chicken tenders and fries for ~$13. The menu had a decent offering of options ranging from bar food to pasta. Something for everyone. I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich, which was sauced to the max. The buffalo sauce is made in house according to the menu. It had a good flavor, a tad bit sweet and not really spicy but good flavor overall. The amount of sauce did make it a bit messy to eat. I love that the fries were crispy. My friend ordered a burger and requested the cheese be swapped for Swiss and it came out with cheddar, they did quickly fix it. We sat at a booth near the bar and it had its own tv, playing sports which is cool. It was a bit cold, not always a bad problem. The staff were nice and attentive. good place and reasonably priced food. wife and I met up my in-laws for a bite on Saturday around 5pm. it wasn't crowded at all, and we were seated right away. (it did get busier while we were there) the menu isn't huge, but it has a big variety of items - burger, tacos, pastas, etc father in-law and I both opted for a burger, wife and monthe in-law split a burger and a fried chicken sandwich. verdicts on the burgers: they're half pound patties with a simple prep (just salt and pepper that I could tell). honestly, if you can't get a simple prep right, you have no business selling them. we all thoroughly enjoyed them. verdicts on the fried chicken sandwich: I didn't try it, so I'm relying on my wife here. she said it was just "ok". the chicken was a bit dry and lacked seasoning. it came with a Cajun remoulade sauce on the side that I did try. none of us really liked it. I felt it had way too much Cajun seasoning and just kind of overpowered everything. all sandwiches came with an absolute mountain of fries which were crispy, seasoned perfection. nothing is worse than soggy fries, and I would have walked out right then if they were floppy. well, not really, but I still hate soggy fries. ambiance: we were seated at a booth by the bar, so it was a little loud, but we were still able to hold a conversation without having to yell. price: mains range from $15-24, so not too bad. we didn't get any appetizers. Always great service and deals on brews and appetizers till 6 today. Delicious Italian wings and a great atmosphere no matter when we go. Awesome food and service, every time we've been here. We have tried various things on the menu now and none have disappointed. Spaghetti or Sausage and Peppers, highly recommend. Steak or grilled Salmon, even better. The risotto is also great, but you can get great garlic mashed if you prefer. read more

My best friend and I stopped in for a late dinner last night. First time to this location. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted and asked which type of table we'd like to sit at. Decided on a booth. It was nice the booth had a small little tv with the Wolves game on for our viewing pleasure. It took about 10 minutes for our waitress to come over and take our drink order. We started with the cheese bread for our appetizer which was good. For our entrees, we ordered the Buffalo chicken sandwich with fries and the crispy chicken sandwich with onion rings. My bestie said his sandwich was good and the fries were delicious. The crispy chicken sandwich was dry and just meh. Lacked flavor. Onion rings were okay, nothing special and for $2.50 more I'd pass on them. I was surprised by the crispy chicken sandwich because it is one of their signature items on the menu. Service was not great. I know it was towards the end of the evening, but our waitress was not attentive. Didn't check to see if refills were needed on our waters or how we enjoyed the food. I did notice this location is much smaller than the Woodbury location. I'd maybe stop in again if I'm in the area, but otherwise, I'd continue to go to the Woodbury location. read more

Met up with a friend for happy hour on a Tuesday afternoon The restaurant and bar area were pretty busy for a Tuesday. Bingo is played at 6:00 on Tuesdays and by about 5:45 the entire place was jam packed with an older crowd ready to play! I did notice that the restaurant brought in extra wait staff and an extra bartender to handle the bingo rush. Well done. Casey was the girl behind the bar and she was lovely. Very kind and fast. She greeted me immediately as I sat down and brought me a menu. Checked on me regularly and had a number of selections from the food menu to recommend. The second bartender that came in, Chris, was just as awesome. These two employees alone made the visit worth while. I ordered the Carnitas Tacos as a recommendation. They were just fine. Served in flour tortillas, not ideal. The pork was tender and juicy but under seasoned. Pineapple salsa was decent. Salsa Verde could have been a little spicier. This is an Italian restaurant so I can't be too mad about tacos. Overall I had a nice experience and the food was good enough to intrigue me into coming back. First time and only came for the Monday - Carmine's Steak Dinner Special $13.95. Based on the photos I expected this place to be between a sports bar and restaurant. We shared Italian Chicken Wings as an appetizer. Loved the dry rub. Steaks came out fairly quickly after we finished the appetizers. It came with a side salad and mashed potatoes. Decent portions and quality for the price. We even got complimentary bread and butter. Normally I don't order dessert, don't have the room for it. But the server said staff favorite is the caramel sea salt cookie sundae. We ended up sharing it and that was delicious! Overall we had a great meal and service. read more

Wow, they think their place is some top notch joint. Just another outfit that has over priced & under poured drinks. Y'all our server was IT! she was so great, so friendly, so awesome! They have a good happy hour that ends at six. Good deals on drinks and $3 off apps! We got cheese curds and they come with a lot! Shared between two and we couldn't finish it. I also ordered the southwest burger and it was so yummy. They top it with guac pico and coleslaw and they do not skimp on it!! A Bloomington Bar/Grill that is average. They offer breakfast on Sundays which isn't something I'd make a special trip for but could address a hangover. They have bingo on Tuesday night at @6p to support local youth sports teams. $10 for 10 games and 3 opportunities to buy extra boards for the bigger pot rounds. Maui tacos... just warm.. lacked any flavor.. description promised lime and cilantro.. couldn't detect.. could have been mayonnaise.. chips were barely warm.. and hard... fresh? Don't think so. I literally ( ask Shelby our server) licked the plate with my index finger scooping up every last bit of sauce ‍ My dinner partner had gluten free chicken Alfredo .., YUMMY! I came in to Carmine's on a Friday night recently with my boyfriend on a double date. Truth be told, Carmine's was not our first choice; we quickly found it on Google maps after the first place we wanted to go was too packed. My best friend found Carmine's and all night long, we kept telling her how she stumbled upon a winner. On their website, Carmine's considers themselves an Italian restaurant. Personally, I think it gives more "dive bar" feels when you enter, but their menu has plenty of pasta options as well as American food options. I got their Carmine Burger Half Pound with bacon ($13.95 and the bacon was an uncharge of $2) and beer battered fries. My boyfriend got their popular Grilled BBQ Chicken Sandwich ($13.95). Their fries are some of the best fries in the Twin Cities area in my opinion - soooo crispy and love the shoe string cut. We could not stop eating them! My burger was cooked to perfection and my boyfriend said his chicken sandwich was the best he's had out. Our waitress was amazing, she checked back on us often and took great care of us! So glad we gave Carmine's a chance because we most certainly will be back! PS - They have a big parking lot so no need to worry about parking. They also have pull tabs AND we had a personal mini TV at our table which I haven't see at any other restaurant! Such a nice touch! read more

Cannot believe it took me so long to eat here. I met a friend here to catch up and share what we thought would be an appetizer but ended up being my dinner for the night! I highly recommend the nachos. They're amazing. So full of flavor. And when you order nachos other places, you always run into empty chips. Not these nachos. Every chip was a good chip with meat and cheese and other toppings and goodness. I'm salivating just thinking about them. Have been here a few times now. Usually I belly up to the bar to relax and have dinner and a drink. The bartenders are a mix of funny and good conversationalists. Must be a decent amount of regulars based on the conversations. That's a great sign. Will continue to return and enjoy the light atmosphere, good food and great service. read more

I was expecting something else more ambiance based on the name Greeted and seated right away It it is a large room and a huge huge bar and not many tables The menu is limited noodle styles and only penne pasta or spaghetti noodles. Sort of disappointing for Italian cuisine I had Chicken Marsala very good. Prices middle of road Waiter was in training with another. He is not goina make it sad to say. I was in hospitality. It is a cross between sports bar and restaurant. A lot of what seemed regulars at bar who were loud and because bar is so big no getting away from noise It was not very clean at booths and windows. Perhaps it's because Carmine's was still relatively new when I went, but I wasn't very impressed by the restaurant overall. It was pretty average in terms of food and service wasn't exceptional. Although it does seem to be a potentially good addition to the area considering that there aren't many restaurant options in this neighborhood. The interior has been completely redesigned to the point where you would have never known that it used to be a Perkins if you hadn't been there before. There's a plentiful amount of seating and it seems to be a hot spot for the suburban families to flock to. I selected the Grilled BBQ Chicken Sandwich which was a messy thing to eat. Disappointed. As a vegetarian, I'm accustomed to limited choices. As in many other restaurants, we asked to have meat on the side (nacho appetizer). Our waitress came back from the kitchen to let us know she spoke to the OWNER, who said they were unable to accommodate. That would've been fine except, she told us "you can get meat on, or no meat, but can't get meat on the side". We'll now that makes no sense at all. Again, having asked this in countless restaurants and all sending out the meat in a little side cup for my meat-eating family. Ridiculous. Came last Thursday with my best friend and baby. Was pleasantly surprised to find out that on Thursdays from 5-9 they have live music! The inside is pretty much a sports bar with a large bar , small stage area, some arcade games, pull tabs, high tops and booths in bar area then a small dinning area. Crowd was a mixture of ages and also mixture of families and friends. The service was top notch. The manager was so great! Great menu- excited to try more. We had cheese bread for $11 ( expensive for 4 pieces), friend had thee Bolognese which looked so good but she said was a little sweet for her taste. I had thee meatball penne pasta and it was a huge portion and pretty good! They gave my toddler a free scoop of ice cream which was really sweet. The portions are huge which is nice for leftovers! Came here Friday night around 7pm with some friends. We've been here a number of times in the past to play Bingo and typically enjoy their food. We haven't been here in awhile though. We ordered their wings, as I have before, but this time some of them were very undercooked. They use jumbo whole wings so they are a big size (not complaining about that), but some of the larger ones were very pink/bloody inside. We didn't eat 3 full wings because they oozed pink juice when I split it open and were clearly not fully cooked. I don't mess around with undercooked chicken. We make and order wings often so know cooked versus undercooked chicken. I wish I would have taken a picture to include but didn't think to do so at the time. We showed our waitress the wings and how pink they were and explained it was the bigger of the wings that just didn't get cooked all the way through. She looked and said "oh, yeah that looks gross" and took our plate away. I was thinking she would either bring some fresh ones of take it off our bill, but neither happened. I don't like to make a fuss so I didn't say anything while we were there, but thought I should write a review incase in continues to happen so they can be sure to be cooking their wings properly. We also had some fries, bruschetta and chicken tenders. Fries and bruschetta were great. The chicken tenders have changed since we had them the last time. They used to be really good real pieces of chicken and last night they were those fake chicken material tenders. Almost like nugget consistency but in a tender shape. I was definitely disappointed in our experience. They need to get their old tenders back. Service was great though, minus the waitress ignoring the nasty wings. :) read more

First off the service was top notch. We were there for happy hour on a Friday so it was busy but not over the top and the service was still great. Since it was happy hour we only tried appetizers and none of them overly impressed us. The calamari/ banana pepper dish had at least half peppers and we are not huge fans. The bruschetta could have benefited from a little more black olives and less onion. The cheese curds were the best appetizer we tried but was probably a prepackaged product. (In all fairness we had cheese curds at another twin cities restaurant that were so good that other restaurants just can't compete.). I did see a great looking steak go by and the flatbread pizzas looked good. I would try this restaurant again. I do like that the dining room and bar are separate. I think that's more family friendly. read more

Super disappointed to watch the bar be crammed shoulder to shoulder. The bartender kept taking her mask down while she was making drinks. Their off duty employee walked behind the bar with his mask off and walked out without it on. And just watched a random bar top guest walk to the service station and pick fruit out of the fruit tray!?! Decided to not order food and get the tab. First visit to Carmines on a Friday night. We drive by this place several times a day but hadn't ever thought to go in until we were looking for a place to check out for some family coming to visit over the summer. Food was great (although the only thing I might change is to use a bit less salt on your fries - I love salty food but it was a bit too much even for me :-) and service was friendly and efficient. I came for lunch and ordered a lunch special. It was spaghetti and a meatball along with a side salad for $10. I also order a side of the Italian Sausage for $6. I should have ordered 2 sides of Italian sausage and skipped the rest. The Italian sausage was amazing and had a little heat to it. The spaghetti and meatball was about average. Service was good medium crowd for lunch. Looking through the prices, everything could be dropped a dollar or maybe 2 off the price. But overall pretty decent. 3.5 stars. Good for a stop if you are in the area, but not worth driving out of your way. read more
