I must say this place is a wonderful place with great food. The service was impeccable and the wait times were not bad at all especially with eating with 9 people. This place has my strongest recommendation for all to try. In addition I went there between 12 and 1p.m and it was quite during that time. But the place does have a bar as well. And I must say the view of the boat yard is also a complimentary view that is also enjoyable during the day. The only thing about this place are the prices are just a bit high. An old school classic salad that was delicious. One of the best wedge salads I've had in the whole 805. -Fish & chips that came out golden and crisp, flaky on the inside, with just the right amount of salt. Pair that with harbor views and a cold beer? Say less. Another standout dish. Basically their whole menu here are the classics- burgers, sandwiches, fries, and appetizers. I was so sure I had reviewed The Lookout last year. Dang-o! 'K, well, better late than never! This is SO a great neighborhood bar! If you're on a time schedule, maybe stick to fast service somewhere else. But if you want friendly locals, serving other friendly locals lots of YUM food, and you want to relax and breathe in some fresh sea air while people watching, boat watching, bird watching, or sports watching, lingering over a pint or two, or three or four(iykyk), then The Lookout is a wonderful spot. This particular harbor is pretty darn quiet and we enjoy a nice walk around the ~2 mile perimeter before stopping in for a bite and seeing how Karen and the crew are doing. We (a party of 4) walked in and a young waitress told me "you can sit down anywhere". So we sat down. There were about 6 tables filled, some people seated at the bar and all the patio tables were full. I saw 2 waitresses and one woman that was cleaning up tables. Not a single person came up to our table to say "hi" "someone will be with you shortly" or took our drink order. We waited for 15 minutes and we left. Arriving early--likely before 9 PM--we enjoyed our time before the karaoke kicked off. Since the ladies had an early tee time the next morning, we opted for an early night. Initially, I wasn't sure what I wanted to order, but one of our friends mentioned the tuna melt, which reminded me it had been a while since I'd had one. I went with that, accompanied by a bowl of clam chowder and shared some onion rings. The portions were generous, and everything was excellent--the tuna melt paired perfectly with the crispy onion rings, and the clam chowder hit the spot, offering comforting warmth and flavor. This is a solid dive bar with great food. I've had a lot of things on their menu, and there's only one thing that I didn't love. Everything else is cooked well, seasoned well, and fresh and tasty. I have been here more than once. Last few times we went there for lunch or dinner, unfortunately, there was more than one thing to be concerned about. The servers were very nice and efficient, but they were hard to find when we were ready to leave. It appeared that they were handling more than one position at a time. A little chaotic. We thought the food was very good. Even though they're located on the water, it was unbearably hot inside the restaurant. They had ceiling fans and only one was hardly working. The food comes out cold and greasy. The clam chowder was lukewarm and gloppy. The service, although friendly, was slow and incompetent. We ordered an appetizer to share and didn't get plates or forks. We waited and waited and waited for a server to come to ask for little plates or forks, but the food was getting cold and she was nowhere to be found so I laid out napkins like I was a kindergartener at snacktime and ate with our fingers. She never returned to refill our drinks or take our entrée order. After about 30 minutes of waiting after our appetizer was finished we went up to the bar and tried to place some food order there, but they said we had to do it with our server but they would send our server over. She never came. Finally my husband saw her across the room, and walked over to her and asked for her to take our order. After that, she seemed insulted, and the service was no longer friendly. When the bill comes, she's carrying an electronic pad and hovers why you are trying to figure out the tip, which I think is kind of inappropriate and a lot of pressure because she's standing literally right behind your shoulder above you and is watching everything you're doing on the pad and I just find that inappropriate. Oh, and one more thing, every time you go, be prepared to be harassed at the entrance by either a Tweaker, drug dealer or homeless person. When you ask the staff if they can make them leave, they say no. This guy borderline tried to get physical with me when I refused to give him money.
