food /drinks are just ok, overrated in my opinion. but prices are reasonable, ambiance is nice and the harbor view is lovely.

Yes we are regulars and always prefer to sit at the bar when dining...this time we can in on a Saturday night during the very busy time with hopes to find a couple seats and sure enough it was meant to be! Two seats had just opened and it had our name on it! Service was great and so was our meal! I had the sesame salmon salad and it was perfect!! My husband had the grilled salmon and thought his was a little over cooked... this dish was $10 more and I'm guessing it's because of the sides... (cup of clam chowder and he chose fries) he didn't even eat half the fries so if you want to keep it light and less expensive I recommend the salad! Great spot to enjoy some drinks and full menu available at the bar and we watched the dodger game and enjoyed the harbor views! read more

This place is great. Prices were incredibly reasonable, and the views from the patio just cannot be beat. We sat on the patio and had a gorgeous view of the mountains and the harbor. We came here as a party of 8 on a Thursday night (thankfully had a reservation, because the party of 2 checking in before us was quoted an hour wait at 6pm). Everyone loved their entrees. I really enjoyed lunch at Brophy Bros. We were able to find parking easily. I placed my party of 5 on their waitlist. By the time we got there, we were able to get seated in 10 minutes. The view was so beautiful from our table. The staff are so organized and friendly. The fresh bread they served was so delicious and warm. The food was served fairly quickly from the time the orders were placed to when my table got the orders. I ordered the seafood pasta with a cup of their clam chowder.The shrimp and scallops was very fresh and flavorful. The pasta was very delicious as well. Service- wait was stayed as 50 minutes, however it was only 45. Lisa a bit forgetful with refill & gluten free bread with meal Ambiance- out door patio was too chilly and cool. Waiting area was in the way of servers path, need a new setup Food- Arnold Palmer was ok, but not perfect . What was perfect was the Perfect Margarita!! My snapper and fries was good, but not great. We were on a 12 day visit and have been here twice, the calamari may be the best most tender I have ever had. Had 4 different entrees and the claim chowder. Everything was delicious. Can't beat the views read more

Even on one of their busiest days of the year, the staff handled our large party incredibly well. We had a big group with different ages, requests, and timing needs, and they were patient, accommodating, and genuinely kind throughout the whole meal. The menu was simple in the best way, not overly complicated, just fresh seafood classics done right. Everything we ordered came out flavorful and well-portioned. The clam chowder lived up to the hype, the seafood was fresh, and even the non-seafood options were solid. You can tell why locals and visitors both keep this place packed. What stood out most was how relaxed the atmosphere still felt despite the rush. Friendly service. A little slow at first, but then very quick. Everyone that addressed our table did it with warmth and a smile. Cup of clam chowder is AMAZING. Bread and butter, also fantastic. We also ordered fish and chips and the seabass. The fish was melting in our mouths. So good. Highly recommend check this place out. Parking lot is free Monday through Thursday. During certain hours on Friday through Sunday, you have to pay at a machine using your license plate. Otherwise, plenty of parking. On our way to Santa Barbara, we decided to stop at Brophy Brothers in Ventura Harbor for a quick lunch. The restaurant is located on the second floor which provided a very nice harbor view. Inside, with its casual beach eatery vibe, is quite spacious with seating for 70+ guests, and 50 more on the covered patio. After making our reservation on Yelp, we were seated with only a short wait. The hostess guided us to our patio table, and the friendly waitress brought the menu, warm bread, and water right away. After browsing the one-sheet menu, we ordered their seafood pasta and hot seafood combo, and both orders arrived in about 15 minutes. Seafood Pasta with Clam Chowder Side: Since we ordered it without cheese, the subtly creamy sauce was light but still flavorful. The thin noodles were on the soft side. The scallops and shrimps were fresh and juicy. The cup of clam chowder was smoothly creamy and quite savory. Hot seafood combo: Juicy clams, mussels, and shrimps were simmered in flavorful garlic and white wine broth. The baked clams and oysters were well seasoned. After my first experience here not being so great, I reached out to customer service. I knew from the great reviews that I must have gone on a bad day. Nicole the manager got back to me immediately. She is not just a manager that wants to satisfy a customer. She is a manager who truly cares about her customers. She invited me back for a redo. I accepted and brought my dad with me. Melissa was our server and she was one of the best servers I've ever had! She was genuine and offered things before we even had to ask for them! My dad and I split the clam chowder and fish and chips. The clam chowder was out of this world. Night and day for my first experience . I am very picky with clam chowder, considering I grew up in Marin County, 20 minutes north of San Francisco. The chowder was thick, rich, and velvety. The Fish and Chips were light and crispy. Nicole checked in on us a few times which we appreciated. My dad was very impressed with the food and customer service as well! Always loved the fish n chips at the downstairs seating at Brophy Bros in SB, but never got to eat an entree from the full menu before. February was the chance to try entrees and decided on the Ventura location, since never been. What a large and beautiful Ventura harbor! And Brophy Bros proudly sitting at the corner of the building, with main dining upstairs. Searching for parking situation seemed confusing with some saying free some saying metered, but I think I got it figured out. Looks like it's FREE Monday~Thursday But metered for Friday~Sunday + holiday, forgot the rate but it's cheap. I tried to feed the kiosk on a Saturday at 5:30 for 3 hours, but seemed to expire at 8pm. I guess after 8pm is maybe free on metered days? Ordered up the tried and true fish n chips and the swordfish and sea bass entrees to try. Entrees come with choice of chowder or salad, so got one of each to try. - Fish & Chips = seriously, Brophy Bros has the best fish and chips, and their tartar sauce is pure crack! - Salad = wow, it was delicious with the house parmesan or whatever dressing. - Clam chowder = great, not too creamy, perfect balance and delish. - Swordfish = this was cooked to perfection! Came on a bed of veggies and the rice pilaf was perfect too. The sauce over it was not the best, since I prefer maybe a cream sauce of sort over tartness. But nothing a tartar sauce on the side can't fix. Absolutely loved dunking the swordfish into tartar sauce, best of both worlds! - Sea Bass = I usually don't like blackened fish, but this thing was amazing! Such good flavor and the drawn butter to dunk into. It was like eating a grilled steak, but in a fish form! Service and atmosphere was amazing as well. This has become my new favorite restaurant for SB trips:) Dropped in again in March to get me yet another swordfish to raise my mercury levels even more after having swordfish in SB the night before. Sea Bass was sold out, so wife debated between the soba noodle salad and the seafood pasta. Went for seafood pasta after checking some photos since it can't possibly be anything but tasty. And it was HH so tried the oyster rockefeller. - Oyster rockefeller = this was ok. Good oysters but I just didn't care much for the spinach forward flavor which covered up the oyster flavor too much. - Swordfish = delicious again, but maybe 3 swords in a month was getting to be much. Will have to pace myself. Fish again grilled to perfection. Not sure how they do it, whether swordfish or sea bass, they just know how to cook fish perfectly. - Sea Food pasta = looked incredible with all the cheese over it. But was surprised it was quite bland in flavor... Still learning the menu, but I don't think you can go wrong if stick to fish n chips and the fish entrees. read more

We had a delicious dinner at Brophy Bros last night. They sat our party of six after a short wait. Parking was easy in the free lot right out front. I enjoyed the cioppino. It was a huge portion of all kinds of fresh and tasty seafood swimming in a flavorful sauce. If you are a bread dipper like me, then this is the dish for you. They put a basket of sourdough right in front of me and i went to town on it. Yum! Also at our table was the new england clam chowder, scampi, and fish and chips. Went to here mainly because Andrias was closed. I've always known that Brophy Bros was right across the parking but have never eaten there. So my wife and I shared a shrimp and crab Louie which was good as any. However, the fish was much better than the chips. Service was great and I would say the atmosphere was close to a sports bar and maybe that's what it is. Anyway, it's worth a try. The views are really nice as well. Seafood is our favorite and Brophy Bros is very good, and they were very good to us. We wanted a light meal yesterday and our usual place was closed so we came here. The wait was long but there were a few "high top" spots available right away. Our food was snapper fish and chips and a large ish bowl of clam chowder. The fried fish was excellent as was the clam chowder. The coleslaw had some sort of tiny black seeds on/in it, not sure what they were but I don't like seeds. Hot tea, iced tea refills taken care of. Our waiter was Christopher, he was excellent, attentive, professional. The place is on second floor, nice view of the harbor. Some very small birds outside begging for crumbs but they did not bother us as they stayed on the floor. We will be back, thank you Brophy Bros. read more

This is a very popular spot, right on the harbor, with lovely views of the water. Unlike the Santa Barbara location, you can make a reservation here through Yelp. If you don't, you'll be waiting. It takes two seconds to make the reservation, so just do it. The food is good. It's not fantastic. As others have noted, stick with the classics. Go fried or go home. The fish and chips was a little greasy but mostly really, really good (and the fries here are excellent). The grilled fish sandwich (ordered "Cajun-style") was nice. The beer-battered shrimp was delicious. That was the star of the table. The clam chowder was ok but I would skip it next time. It's definitely on the gooey, or perhaps the glue-y, side. The big loaf of freshly-baked complimentary sourdough bread you get at the start is great. On Yelp, some people love the mai tais here, and others hate them. Same for the Bloody Marys. Why roll the dice on something exotic when you can get wine or beer or a normal cocktail? Their beer and wine selection is not bad at all, by the way. I love both mai tais and Bloody Marys but the widely differing criticisms made me steer clear. The bar scene is pretty happening here and the inside dining room is much louder than the outside patio. If you want a more conversational experience, try and dine on the deck. Our service was just fine. They are family friendly and kids are welcome. Sure, it's a touristy and the food isn't amazing but for your basic seafood dishes and a beer or martini, and the excellent view, you could do a lot worse. read more

I've no words to express how saddened I am that I've slept on Brophy's for so long! Always at the Harbor. Always walking by. Often at Andria's, etc., etc. But, it's so good! Let's break it down: Arrived with my guest around lunchtime. Was told it was a 10-15 minute wait, but thankfully, a table opened up (near the bar)? - It was unclear, but that's of no matter. The server came out pretty quickly to greet us, and since we were pretty hangry, we ordered right away. She ordered a beautiful Salmon salad, and I ordered the Fish and Chips. The sourdough bread was as good as I've seen other Yelpers detail. Super duper good. Of course, it's busy at lunchtime, I get that. But our server never came back to check in on us. We were puzzled, to say the least. But another employee brought us our check (after we flagged him down). I am remiss to even write about service because, cough, 2025, and we could have outstanding service the next visit. So, I won't deduct any stars for this visit and review. Beach. Water. Boats, too.
