Service- wait was stayed as 50 minutes, however it was only 45. Lisa a bit forgetful with refill & gluten free bread with meal Ambiance- out door patio was too chilly and cool. Waiting area was in the way of servers path, need a new setup Food- Arnold Palmer was ok, but not perfect . What was perfect was the Perfect Margarita!! My snapper and fries was good, but not great. The coleslaw was good with a nice flavor. I wish the feries could be the chuncky dinner fries.

Love coming here and sitting at the bar... just an awesome vibe, great views of the harbor and always excellent service. We love that we could watch the Dodger game too! The drinks are great and their clam chowder is so good! We tried the coconut shrimp appetizer and we were not a fan! The fried coating was a bit over cooked and there wasn't really any recognizable coconut. A few strings (well done) sticking out but all in all just not that great! As always we will be back as it is one of our favorite places to come and have drinks and just chill!

I've been to my fair share of seafood spots along the coast, but Mother's Day at Brophy Bros. reminded me why this place continues to be a Ventura staple. First off the view is hard to beat. Sitting by the harbor with the boats, ocean breeze, and sunset starting to hit made the entire experience feel effortlessly coastal California. Even on one of their busiest days of the year, the staff handled our large party incredibly well. We had a big group with different ages, requests, and timing needs, and they were patient, accommodating, and genuinely kind throughout the whole meal. The menu was simple in the best way, not overly complicated, just fresh seafood classics done right. Everything we ordered came out flavorful and well-portioned. The clam chowder lived up to the hype, the seafood was fresh, and even the non-seafood options were solid. You can tell why locals and visitors both keep this place packed. What stood out most was how relaxed the atmosphere still felt despite the rush. Great service, delicious food, beautiful harbor views, and a restaurant that can actually handle large groups without making it chaotic? That's a win. Definitely one of those Ventura spots that feels both casual and special at the same time. We'll absolutely be back.

Food was delicious, the fish n chips was so light and fresh, the seafood pasta was also delicious. Really enjoyed this spot, if we are in the area, would return.

Friendly service. A little slow at first, but then very quick. Everyone that addressed our table did it with warmth and a smile. Cup of clam chowder is AMAZING. Bread and butter, also fantastic. We also ordered fish and chips and the seabass. The fish was melting in our mouths. So good. Highly recommend check this place out. Parking lot is free Monday through Thursday. During certain hours on Friday through Sunday, you have to pay at a machine using your license plate. Otherwise, plenty of parking. The restaurant is upstairs, but there is an elevator just to the side of the restaurant.

On our way to Santa Barbara, we decided to stop at Brophy Brothers in Ventura Harbor for a quick lunch. The restaurant is located on the second floor which provided a very nice harbor view. Inside, with its casual beach eatery vibe, is quite spacious with seating for 70+ guests, and 50 more on the covered patio. After making our reservation on Yelp, we were seated with only a short wait. The hostess guided us to our patio table, and the friendly waitress brought the menu, warm bread, and water right away. After browsing the one-sheet menu, we ordered their seafood pasta and hot seafood combo, and both orders arrived in about 15 minutes. Seafood Pasta with Clam Chowder Side: Since we ordered it without cheese, the subtly creamy sauce was light but still flavorful. The thin noodles were on the soft side. The scallops and shrimps were fresh and juicy. The cup of clam chowder was smoothly creamy and quite savory. Hot seafood combo: Juicy clams, mussels, and shrimps were simmered in flavorful garlic and white wine broth. The baked clams and oysters were well seasoned. It was quite a pleasant lunch, and we might stop by again on our way back home. Highly recommended.

This is the view from the patio, hard to beat

This place is consistently good! The views are great and people are nice. My beer battered fish and chips were great and our coconut shrimp appetizers were even better. Give it a try.

The bread was delicious! Plus they use classy butter.

After my first experience here not being so great, I reached out to customer service. I knew from the great reviews that I must have gone on a bad day. Nicole the manager got back to me immediately. She is not just a manager that wants to satisfy a customer. She is a manager who truly cares about her customers. She invited me back for a redo. I accepted and brought my dad with me. Melissa was our server and she was one of the best servers I've ever had! She was genuine and offered things before we even had to ask for them! My dad and I split the clam chowder and fish and chips. The clam chowder was out of this world. Night and day for my first experience . I am very picky with clam chowder, considering I grew up in Marin County, 20 minutes north of San Francisco. The chowder was thick, rich, and velvety. The Fish and Chips were light and crispy. Nicole checked in on us a few times which we appreciated. My dad was very impressed with the food and customer service as well! I'm so happy I gave this restaurant another shot after my first time experience. Thank you Nicole!

Always loved the fish n chips at the downstairs seating at Brophy Bros in SB, but never got to eat an entree from the full menu before. February was the chance to try entrees and decided on the Ventura location, since never been. What a large and beautiful Ventura harbor! And Brophy Bros proudly sitting at the corner of the building, with main dining upstairs. Searching for parking situation seemed confusing with some saying free some saying metered, but I think I got it figured out. Looks like it's FREE Monday~Thursday But metered for Friday~Sunday + holiday, forgot the rate but it's cheap. I tried to feed the kiosk on a Saturday at 5:30 for 3 hours, but seemed to expire at 8pm. I guess after 8pm is maybe free on metered days? Ordered up the tried and true fish n chips and the swordfish and sea bass entrees to try. Entrees come with choice of chowder or salad, so got one of each to try. - Fish & Chips = seriously, Brophy Bros has the best fish and chips, and their tartar sauce is pure crack! - Salad = wow, it was delicious with the house parmesan or whatever dressing. - Clam chowder = great, not too creamy, perfect balance and delish. - Swordfish = this was cooked to perfection! Came on a bed of veggies and the rice pilaf was perfect too. The sauce over it was not the best, since I prefer maybe a cream sauce of sort over tartness. But nothing a tartar sauce on the side can't fix. Absolutely loved dunking the swordfish into tartar sauce, best of both worlds! - Sea Bass = I usually don't like blackened fish, but this thing was amazing! Such good flavor and the drawn butter to dunk into. It was like eating a grilled steak, but in a fish form! Service and atmosphere was amazing as well. This has become my new favorite restaurant for SB trips:) Dropped in again in March to get me yet another swordfish to raise my mercury levels even more after having swordfish in SB the night before. Sea Bass was sold out, so wife debated between the soba noodle salad and the seafood pasta. Went for seafood pasta after checking some photos since it can't possibly be anything but tasty. And it was HH so tried the oyster rockefeller. - Oyster rockefeller = this was ok. Good oysters but I just didn't care much for the spinach forward flavor which covered up the oyster flavor too much. - Swordfish = delicious again, but maybe 3 swords in a month was getting to be much. Will have to pace myself. Fish again grilled to perfection. Not sure how they do it, whether swordfish or sea bass, they just know how to cook fish perfectly. - Sea Food pasta = looked incredible with all the cheese over it. But was surprised it was quite bland in flavor... Still learning the menu, but I don't think you can go wrong if stick to fish n chips and the fish entrees.

This is how I get my Vitamin D!

Update to my post. I meant to give them 5 Star Rating. Also, their Bloody Mary's are "Lip Smacking Good!". Are you searching for a delicious "Shrimp Scampi and Scallops on pasta with side of Coleslaw, Breaded Clams or Clam Chowder? Go to Brophy Bros in Ventura! If you are in the area of the Ventura Harbor, Ventura, CA - you will love their meals and atmosphere. My daughter and me are huge fan's of Brophie Brother's at Ventura Harbor! On our way home from Santa Ynez (Chumash Casino), my daughter and I stopped in here to take in the sea air and breeze while enjoying the sea air and cool breeze. The Spicy Bloody Mary's are very tasty too! Our server was very nice as was another member of the team who brought out our hot meals. Place was packed when got there around 1:00 pm. Can you imagine what it like there on a weekend? Got our Vitamin D while dining on their patio and watching boats in the harbor. P.S. - Meals are affordable and my 'Shrimp Scampi and Scallops" meal was more than enough for two people and their bread is served fresh and piping hot! If I wasn't so full I would've ordered one of their delicious deserts. Conveniently located off a few miles off the 101 Freeway and right on the Ventura Harbor. Parking at Ventura Harbor Less than 1 hour is FREE - register your plate when you arrive. Street parking and the Dolphin Lot at Safe Harbor Ventura Isle remain FREE. On weekends and holidays, it's just $1 per hour (up to 4 hours) or $10 for a full-day pass. Parking Tip! There was a registration post by Brophy Brothers. It had a long line. Our waitress gave us a scan code to scan to register driver's license and pay for parking. Ezeeee...peezee! Dine at Brophy Brother's, enjoy the views and quaint little beach shops. Relax and enjoy life!

When we visit family in Oxnard, we love coming to Brophy to have sone fresh seafood & have a beautiful view of the harbor. Staff are so friendly and accommodating. All the food we ordered are delicious. Our group live their fish & chips. Fresh white fish and cooked to perfection, right crisp & light batter on the outside. Can't wait for our next visit.

Brophy Bros Restaurant is located on the second level! Shoutout to YE Sandy with the great recommendation. Ordered the following: 1. Hot Plate Combo - tasted a little bit of everything. The seafood was fresh. 2. Cup of Chowder - not too thick and very filling! Table side Bread and Butter. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch by the Ventura Harbor. The patio is still under construction.

We needed lunch before heading home. In Ventura, you gotta have fish & chips. On The Alley came up. Service was wonderful. The fish & chips came quickly. Hot and delicious! Lots of fries and Cole slaw. We enjoyed the view of the harbor as we ate. Off you're in Ventura near the harbor, check this place out.

In summary, if you have a group celebration call the Yard Bar & Grill. You will be so pleased. They even let us decorate! #grateful

Atmosphere is good, had a live band out back, and bartender was excellent. Though my whiskey sour was just under $20. Not good for single SIS white men it seems. Whatever, glad I tried here. I'm easy and laid back...but but won't be back. Wish everyone well! T

The Penne with…read morePink Sauce was flavorful, though my personal preference is the pasta be slightly more al-dente. The Clam Chowder had great thickness to the sauce, the clams were delicate and bright, and the seasoning was well-selected, if slightly too light for my preference. The staff was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. The ambiance was quiet, sophisticated, and well thought out. I am glad I found this place!

But once you walk in, it's a completely different story. The inside is beautiful, with dim lighting that makes it perfect for a date night. The staff was incredibly kind and welcoming, answering all our questions and making the experience even better. We started off with drinks and ordered the raspberry lemon drops--and they were SO good. Super flavorful and honestly hard to stop drinking The bartender even came by to greet us and introduced a new drink he had just created. Of course we had to try it, and it did not disappoint--we ended up ordering a round for the table! For food, we weren't too hungry, so we went with a three-course option. We started with the mussels (not my personal favorite, but my sister loved them) and the clam chowder, which was a solid 10/10--so creamy and delicious. For the main course, we had the filet mignon, and it did not disappoint at all. Perfectly cooked and full of flavor. Overall, such a great experience--good drinks, great food, and amazing service. I would definitely come back!

I understand they are under a new chef recently, which brought a more approachable menu for Ventura. Definitely have to return for the pasta dishes but tonight called for a steak. Great portions, good flavor, but the issue for almost every time I come: the food is cold. I know I could cause a scene and complain, but I understand the problem. There's no heat lamps at the pass. Don't know if that's an architectural issue or a speed issue, but the food is too good to be served cold! I hope they can improve on this and be a good addition to the very hungry Downtown Ventura neighborhood!

Looked really upscale but was actually down to earth once we entered and were seated at a high table with highchairs. There is plenty of seating. a few high tables in the front by the windows along the street, a U of booths surrounding some tables and chairs and even a bar to the side. My wife and I looked over the menu and were surprised by how many food items were on it that we didn't recognize and possibly could not pronounce. Our server was quick to assist any of us with quizzical looks on our faces. Right when we were feeling intimidated a bit by our choices, my wife pointed out some traditional faves on the Happy Hour menu - a smashburger with a side of fries. Bingo. I added a delicious lemonade to mine. Everyone had fun and enjoyed their food and conversation. A successful dining adventure in downtown Ventura. Really a terrific experience and we would definitely return on a future visit. Take a chance. Walk on in and grab a menu.

Terrific! Visiting Ventura for a few days so stopped by here for lunch on a lowkey Monday…read moreafternoon. Not a single complaint to be had. The blueberry margarita and limoncello beverages were my two drinks of choice, recommended by our lovely waitress Bethany. I liked my drinks a little sweet and girly and both fit that vibe. Shared some oysters with the wife and some crab cakes, they all hit the spot and were solid appetizers to start with. I also got a cup of clam chowder before my main meal. One of the better clam chowders I've had to date. Nice and creamy, fresh and satisfying, it almost had me wishing I ordered a bowl instead. My wife tried mine too and had to order her own right after. The lobster roll with some fries was my main course. So good! The bun was lightly toasted and crisp and the lobster was just sweet and buttery without being too heavy. Very satisfying. And then finally I had to wrap things up with a dessert. Their strawberry basque cheesecake was the easy choice for me. This is the kind of dessert where everyone says they're just going to have a bite and suddenly half of it is gone. I'm glad I split it because I could have easily indulged and eaten the whole thing on my own if the temptation was there. And again, service was excellent. It wasn't particularly busy when we were there. The drinks came in a little slow because there was only one bartender and the bar was busy but otherwise, our waitress checked in on us a healthy amount of times to see if we needed anything or to refill our waters. We sat outside so nice ambiance too. We went to three restaurants while visiting this area and this was the only one I really felt compelled to write a review for. Certainly recommend it.
