An excellent spin-off location from The Chapel Hill mainstay. I recently went here with my wife after an art exhibition up the street for a casual dinner. This location has lots of seating indoors and outdoors. A lot that you can park in along with ample street parking too. I ordered the BBQ bacon cheddar burger (aged cheddar, grilled onions, applewood smoked bacon & chipotle bbq sauce) with onion rings on the side. The burger was cooked perfectly and a good size for the price. My wife ordered the sunflower kale salad with salmon and we split the warm blue cheese chips. Everything was great. I've been here twice in one week because I love it so much! It's a very clean and open ambiance with plenty of seating. It wasn't too busy on a Saturday night, a little more crowded the following Friday but not too bad. There's a decent amount of parking in private lots and nearby streets. The food is great! The first time I got the sunflower kale salad and a side of chips with blue cheese. The portions are huge and delicious. Lots of healthy options! Red the reviews of this place and decided to give it a try. The food was pretty good but we were really disappointed with the service. It was a Sunday evening but it was really busy. I'm not sure if they were short staffed or if that is how it normally operates but the tables were loaded with dishes and no one was bussing tables. About halfway through the visit a woman who I think was the dishwasher came out to clean off the tables finally but that was the only time I saw anyone. By the time we left nearly all the tables were dirty again and no one was bussing them. New customers were just claiming dirty tables. The decor is cute and the place has a lot of potential. We will probably try it again soon to see if our experience was just a one off issue. Based on this experience though, the food was okay but it was no where near worth the price. read more

Had a really good experience here. The restaurant is clean and aesthetically pleasing. You order at the counter and then pick up at the counter when your buzzer goes off. The food was great! I had the spicy chicken pizza, they were out of jalapeños so I subd for artichoke. Also got a salad and added salmon, the size was big and very filling. The food was good - nothing particularly special but freshly made to order. We ordered at the counter and received a buzzer to come back when our food was ready, which took 5-10 minutes. There was ample seating indoors and several tables outdoors in a covered area in the front of the restaurant which was pleasant to sit in even though it was raining pretty hard when we were there. There were two single stall bathrooms that were clean, had hot water and all necessary items. A children's menu, plastic high chairs and a changing table were also available. An ADA accessible entrance was located on the side of the building as the front entrance has several steps upon entering. We popped in for lunch today. Had a beautiful Gorgonzola salad with sundried tomatoes and candied walnuts. We woofed that down, so no pictures. Then we got the portabella and bacon pizza and let me tell you, it was worth every penny of the 17.99. ...from the crust to the abundance of bacon, mushrooms and carmalized onions...absolutely delicious. Average place with a decent menu. It's a self help place. Order your food and come back to pick it up. Self service for drinks, silverware and condiments. The menu has a small variety of choices. They do serve alcoholic drinks but no menu so you have to look at the display at a distance. I ordered the French onion soup which was more creamy than a broth. Not much flavor and pricey for the serving. The onion rings were big. The type you bite and the whole onion comes out. The bleu cheese chips were good and had the right amount of cheese on them. This is the first time I had been to this location. I usually patronize the other in Chapel Hill. My family and I went on a Saturday evening, early. Crowded and, of course, loud. This location seems to be smaller than the other one which may account for the crowded feeling. In any case, I ordered a cheeseburger and onion rings. The cheeseburger was maybe the best I ever had. The meat was delicious! The onion rings were dry, however. Their milkshakes are thick and delicious. If I ever go back, I hope that it is at a different time of day. read more

I ordered a chicken sandwich with bbq sauce. I also ordered the fries and the pumpkin shake. Here's the thing, I ordered my sandwich on GF bread but they put gluten rich pie crust in my shake. I was not expecting pie crust in my shake or I wouldn't have ordered it or asked for just the pie no crust. While I'm ranting about that, I also did not receive the extra bbq sauce I ordered. That saddest part; my hotel was 3 minutes away by car, the delivery was late and my food was cold, especially my fries. What's hopeful? BLUF: adding The Loop to my rotation of lunch spots. Food: 8.2/10 and as always the company: 10/10 Stopped by The Loop after a night out in Raleigh, as I was starting to feel the full effects of a zillion beers and 5 am Cookout the night before. Facing the consequences of your actions can be a real SOB. Needed something fresh and light to absolve me from this hangover; like trying to stick a piece of duct tape on the Titanic as it's going down. I digress and less about me and my poor decision making and more about The Loop. Going to stray from my typical review style and talk through this one sequentially. Walking into any lunch spot at 1pm and seeing it mostly empty made me raise and eyebrow. Not sure if they make their money on takeout/to-go but seeing a spot so quiet can make real hesitant. Hesitation was immediately removed after seeing this ice (see photo) flowing out of the drink machine. If you know anything about anything you know this ice is far superior to ice in any other form. Ordering is cafeteria style, which I like but if you are expecting 20% tip when I'm forced to do all the things that waiters do then we probably wouldn't get along. The menu offers a range of lunch food that honestly all sounded good, enticing me to come back and try something new. Kept forgetting about this place until I would ride by. Finally got there before a DPAC show this past week. I didn't have any expectations, I just wanted to try it and liked the outside seating area. The decor is adorable. You order at rhe counter and you get a pager which goes off when your food is ready. I love they have 8 in pizzas because it's just the right size. The Pinsa's are delicious! Had never heard that term before. 2 of us had burgers and 3 of us had pizza. I got the creamy French Onion soup and the white pinsa. OMGoodness was the white pinsa cheesy and delicious! They ran out of arugula so I got fresh basil. The soup was very good as well... different because it is creamy not broth... but good. I tried the other dishes and was pleased with everything. The experience was horrible! We have eaten here several times before and were satisfied. Tonight we went and ordered a hamburger and a pinsa. We waited at our table for over 30 minutes. I finally went up and asked what was the problem. The gal said "I am sorry, but I am the only one here. There were five others in the kitchen behind her. There were also less than 20 people in the restaurant. Our food was on the counter. Pinsa was cold, and hamburger that was ordered medium rare, was well done. Waste of good money. We heard so much about their onion rings and couldn't wait to try them. But, when we ordered them with our hamburgers, we were told that they had no onion rings "cause they were saving them for online orders". It didn't help that while we were at the register, 2 orders of onion rings were sent to customers seated in the restaurant! When we questioned why they could get onion rings, the person at the register said that these customers got the last of the onion rings before they had to SAVE THE REST FOR ONLINE ORDERS. (We were there at 11:15am) We told him that it doesn't make since NOT to give a customer that was there in person preference to an online order and we were told that "it's a struggle to turn off the onion rings on the online orders site" If I had thought quicker, I should have pulled out my phone right then and done on ONLINE order for my lunch! "Pizza, burgers, and more in old Broad Street Cafe space on Broad Street in Durham" At what I think was the building for the old Broad Street Cafe in Durham, we now have the Loop restaurant. Folks from Duke University may well know the Loop because of the on-campus location-- same excellent food! The setting is large, airy, and a little bit dark. Nicely given pandemic conditions and hot summer weather, they have a few covered outdoor tables with fans above them. And there's some free parking on the side of the restaurant. We ordered takeout from here on a Saturday night. Pro-tip: order takeout by phone rather than using GrubHub or equivalent online sites-- you'll pay a LOT less. My son and I both got burgers, and my wife got the portabello sandwich. Food was prepared quickly-- it was ready 20 minutes after I ordered, and was ready at the promised time when I arrived. (Large styrofoam tray-boxes-- boo...) Service was efficient. The food was delicious! Our burgers were made to order-- my son's medium-rare and mine medium-well. The meat felt like good quality, and it was a decent sized burger, with fresh lettuce and tomato set on the side so as to stay fresh. Mine had bleu cheese, and that also tasted fresh and yummy. The fries were "steak fries", so good for those who like potato. The chips were fresh and crisp. I also got the broccoli -- meh... it was steamed but totally devoid of any seasoning. My wife liked her portabello sandwich. I almost got the salmon sandwich, which I've had and enjoyed from the Duke location many times, so may try that next time. Overall, good food, and a very reasonable price-- a little cheaper than say Burger Bach or Bull City Burger. Would happily go back. read more

I walked up to the order station ready to order and was informed their oven was out of order and they had removed it from their site to prevent folks from ordering and being upset. Amazing! A restaurant that keeps their website up to date! The very friendly staff made up for my disappointment by recommending another item, and we parted friends. I got a chicken sandwich with housemade chips. It was very tasty, not dry at all (usually not a fan of chicken breasts for this reason), dressed with LTO on a soft, but not squishy bun. Very tasty, and traveled well to the gaming group meeting a few doors down. I'll be back and update once the oven is back in service. This is definitely a cute little establishment. Very clean on the inside. You are able to park on either side of the building which is great because it was unclear at first and I really didn't want to get towed. We got there about 1 for lunch and while it was busy, we were able to order and sit down pretty quickly. I was originally going to get a salad or a bunless burger but then I saw that they had cauliflower pizza crust so of course I had to try that (keto). I got the meat market and it was absolutely AMAZING. The crust was so delicious and better than any other cauliflower crust that I've ever had that I highly doubt it's as keto as anticipated (and of course there is NO nutrition information on their website for this pizza which is slightly frustrating as I won't be buying it again until I know.) My friend got a bunless bacon cheeseburger with a side salad...the burger as just OK but she LOVED the salad. All in all a nice lunch place (although if management is reading this, I did hear a quite loud conversation at the register between two employees that seemed to be having issues with each other and maybe it wasn't entirely appropriate for them to be having that discussion in front of customers.) read more

Pretty disappointed with our experience at The Loop recently. We were in Durham for a medical visit at Duke and decided to have an order delivered from The Loop. My brother had a chicken caesar wrap, with fries, which he said was average at best. The other two members of our party ordered burgers. We wanted to get fries as the side item, however that wasn't listed as a choice in their online menu. So my sister-in-law got fresh fruit, and I got a side salad. The burgers were pretty good. However, the order arrived with no forks, no napkins, no ketchup, etc. It was pretty frustrating to have to go to the hotel lobby to try to rustle up eating utensils and napkins. Can't say that we'll be ordering from or visiting The Loop again. read more

Good restaurant but needs Improvement. The grilled vegetable salad was nothing of the sort. Only a few tiny little pieces of zucchini, onions, and yellow squash sliced ¼" thick. Looks like it was grilled for 2 minutes with a pan on the stove, hardly what I would call a "grilled vegetable salad". I expected marinated nice big pieces of vegetables truly grilled. The lettuce and tomatoes were very fresh, the croutons tasted like dried-out French Bread cubes with no seasoning. The couscous had no seasoning; both were disappointing. This is hidden gem kinda down in Durham, very close to Duke University. I ran up on this place out of the blue thought I'd give it a try. Of course looked it up on Yelp, so I did a little homework. Parking is beyond terrible!! Very tight and not enough spaces. So be prepared to ride around for a parking spot if you can find one. Prices are pretty pricey for the food. I got a chicken sandwich which came with fries and a drink and it was $17. The portions are pretty good. The pizza looks good but I wasn't in the mood for pizza. I will definitely try one next time I am in the neighborhood. The dining area could have been better attended too. The tables were dirty! The service was mediocre, not really friendly. We both ordered burgers medium, they were both medium on outside and well done on inside but still okay. Then our table both ketchup bottles were pretty empty, I went to a couple other empty tables and those ketchup bottles empty. My wife went to get the salt and their were used napkins on table behind salt, GROSS! Then after we took 3 napkins out of napkin dispenser it was empty, I looked around and many napkin dispensers empty. Really liked the setup of this place. Order at the counter with plenty of available seating for our large group. Soda machines were open for do it yourself refills. I ordered the asian chicken wrap with a side of their chicken and wild rice soup. Both were sooooo good. Everyone at the table loved their food, I had a slice of someone's meat lovers pizza and it had a great taste. We were seated right by a television that wasn't on, and they gave us the remote to find a soccer game to watch. Would definitely return if we are in the area again! read more
