I recently started a new lifestyle that requires a huge change in diet. I was incredibly worried that I would not have many food options while taking my kids to Great Wolf Lodge. Buried in the haven of fried food and pizza is The Loose Moose Cottage. This is not gourmet food by any means but the menu gave me plenty of options! Beef Meatballs and Shrimp alongside my Lean & Green. Thanks for giving some of us who are trying to be more health conscious better options. I appreciate the hard work and delightful staff. I'm only giving 4stars for their Thanksgiving Day Buffet. There was a waiting list, we were the first ones there. Paid for our meal and was guided to our table by our waitress. We were fortunate enough to be the first people to get the first slices of turkey, prime rib, and everything else down the line. Basically, our plan worked!!! Because you know...CoVid and let's be honest...kids 'snot...well, adult snot too!! We managed to avoid that. They had a whole selection of food!! Tried a bit of most things...I would say, it's pretty good. Prime rib was better than expected. If your picky kid goes for more Prime rib 3 times, kind of a good sign, huh? All in all, Thanksgiving lunch did not disappoint. Got my little piece of turkey fix. Only thing missing is cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie...what they had was terrible. Mushhy...like it came from a baby food jar and tried to make pie. I doubt a baby would even enjoy it. It was dark brown and smelled too spicy. Service was really good despite it being a buffet, Brenda was awesome. Food was subpar, even for a buffet, with the exception of the freshly cooked omelet. Everything else was under seasoned and bland. Pancakes were hard from obviously being microwaved. At the price you pay, it should have been fresher. And drinks should be provided. read more

We went to the breakfast buffet while we were staying at Great Wolf Lodge. Its $15.99 for adults and $8.49 for kids 4-12. Our bill was $31.95 for myself and my daughter. It costs the same to go to breakfast in Seattle. So I wasn't too concerned about the price. I WOULD like to say that it is bullshit that you're charged $3 for drink orders on top of your meal price. Its a blatant way to get more money out of you on a high profit item like soda. But that does seem to be the aim of Great Wolf Lodge in general, so its not really surprising. The breakfast buffet is your totally standard breakfast buffet. Like Old Country Buffet, but a little more limited on your selection. Go in with that expectation, and you won't really be disappointed. Except that Old Country Buffet includes your beverage and the buffet here doesn't. The staff is very nice, and mostly prompt. OK, I get it. Kids, busy week, Spring Break, frustrated parents, short staff - most of us going to Great Wolf Lodge (GWL) don't expect a fine dining experience but darn, this place was horrible. Thankfully the kids, who will eat off the floor, didn't care and I guess that's all that matters. But when I review I look at the price, the quality of the food, the atmosphere, the wait - and all in all for us to spend $20/adult and $12/kid it was a huge bill. The food at Old Country Buffet would have been better and the drink service more attentive. And yes, I totally understand that this was a buffet which sets the bar low but even in terms of buffet, as a previous reviewer mentioned, tasted like hospital cafeteria food. I tried something from each station. Some highlights: - Salad bar: basics with some lettuce choices. The butter ran out for the biscuits. The dressings had dried and congealed around the edges. The lettuce and toppings were picked through. - Chicken nuggets were on par with McDonald's. Amazing. However, they don't rotate them out - just dumping more freshly fried ones on top throughout the night (they actually do this for a lot of the food). This is dangerous for food to be sitting out on warmers to not be discarded (rotated out). - Mashed potatoes and gravy is better at KFC - Vegetables were grilled but cold - Roast tri-tip was yummy - Pizza is better at the pizza place upstairs - Tacos were good - Kids loved the mac and cheese and the raviolis. My eldest liked the corn dog bites. We got there at 7 and they closed at 9 but by the time we got seated it took a while - maybe 7:30? The drink server was nice and while no one was rude there was an aire of apathy amongst most of the staff especially the "cooks". I expect this from what is likely the best job within 15 miles of the local, ahem, suburban alcoves (on wheels). So, kids happy - endless ice-cream and carbs. Parents, miserable. The Loose Moose Cottage is located at Great Wolf Lodge. My family and I had the breakfast buffet. For three of us, the cost was under $40 for all you can eat. My kiddo enjoyed as much bacon as he could pile on his plate. Hot offerings include items like bacon, sausage, eggs, biscuits, etc. A omelette bar is also available. Fresh fruit, yogurt and smoothies are also on hand. Beverages cost extra so we went across the way to grab Starbucks. Even though I'm not much of a cereal eater anymore, I loved looking at the cereal station. I was jealous watching children pour 3-4 different kinds of sugary cereal into a bowl and topping it off with milk. If that's not your thing, hot oatmeal was also available for the eating. The hostess offered us good customer service but one came to refill our water the entire time we were there. The food was okay. I think the price point is right because it's all you can eat. The quality of the food is a bit institutional and somewhat better than cafeteria food. I'm sorry I didn't get to eat a regular meal there but it was only open for breakfast during my visit. read more

I don't expect much from Buffets and anybody who does is living in lala land. But this place was a joke. $20 per adult for food that tastes like it's straight out of a hospital cafeteria. I get that Great Wolf is a really nice place and everything but come on...for the price of the stay, they really need to step it up in their restaurant game. Nobody should be shelling out $70+ for a dinner to end up wishing they went to McDonalds instead. Pros -wasn't that busy at dinner time so you're not fighting for food at the buffet tables but then...that's a clear indication right there that you should turn around and run away -the staff seemed friendly - they really are child friendly and have fresh fruit and their own kids Buffett with the usual kids faves like Mac n cheese and chicken nuggets Cons -food tastes like garbage -way too expensive -they have cheap soft serve ice cream. For the price we pay they should really have dryers or some kind of top notch brand -not enough toppings for said ice cream -not enough options in general. Why are there always sad Asian food attempts at buffets? Chow mein shouldn't be wiggling around in the pot. Also the red pasta sauce with meat...repulsive. And the noodles tasted odd. First impression: walk up to grab a plate and there's one plate that literally had some bread-y looking thing crusted to it, and handprints all over the plate. It was off to the side but on top of other plates, but I'm still not sure if it was placed there by a child or an employee. Either way... Seriously? Their breakfast buffet gives a pretty good variety of foods, but they don't match in quality whatsoever. Eggs: watery, some parts were cold and you could actually tell they were frozen. or maybe just disgusting. Sausage links: bland. which is sad. how is that even possible! Tater tots: not enough salt. Hashbrowns: limp and soft, with too MUCH salt. Mini corndogs: good, but definitely some Foster Farms type shit. Donuts: avoid. stale and made even worse because they're cold. Biscuits and gravy: quite possibly the best thing I had, and even still was mediocre. For $15 a person, and in such a popular hotel, I really did expect better. The place itself is just kind of grody, the food is prettyyyyy bad, and I honestly can't think of one thing in there that I'd choose to eat again. So maybe I was starving but I was highly impressed with the buffet and the service! Got in quickly without a reservation. Michelle was our server and she was great!!! Super on top of things we needed like milk for the cereal. And brought out the mimosas we needed asap! Ok for the food! They have so many options. Cold cereal, breakfast desserts, omelets and eggs made to order, waffles, pancakes, french toast sticks, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy and so much fruit! I'm sure I forgot something but they seriously had so many options!! I loved the made to order omelets. They had lots of veggies you could add! What we had: I had the big half pound burger (can't remember what it's called) that came with onions and pulled pork on it. I also had a Perfect Patron Margarita. My wife had dumplings and the Mongolian beef. Three of my kids ate off the kids menu and the oldest had the chicken Caesar salad off the adult menu. We were there pretty early (about 6pm) and there were maybe 4 or 5 other families in the restaurant with us. The good: The food came out really quickly. I don't know if it's because it's mass produced or if they're just that quick, but I was impressed with the speed. It was probably about 15 minutes from ordering the food to delivery. My burger was decent - I felt the pork was a little over the top, but overall it tasted pretty good. The margarita was excellent. My wife said the dumplings were very tasty. The bad: My wife's Mongolian beef was a bit spicier than she's used to and the sauce was a little "off." She's used to a thinner sauce when she has "authentic" Mongolian beef, but this sauce was creamy. The Caesar sauce on my daughter's salad was also spicier than she's used to. Also, while the food came out quickly the drinks took an exceptionally long time. It took longer to get our drinks than it did to get our food, The ugly: The price. Including tip, $130+ for a family of six. We had 1 alcoholic drink on the bill (my margarita). While the food was okay, it wasn't worth anywhere near that much. You expect to pay more to eat in a hotel, and I went into this meal expecting a hefty tab, but I still suffered a bit of sticker shock when the bill came. You may want to eat at the Loose Moose or the Camp Critter Bar & Grill once while you're at Great Wolf just for the experience, but the rest of the time I'd suggest going off property for your food or getting a pizza from the pizza place on the second floor near the water park entrance. Burger Claim is within walking distance (in the parking lot of the gas station right next to Great Wolf Lodge) and gives a 5% discount to Great Wolf Lodge guests -- or 15% if you're military! read more

Buffet, quick seating, kids foods during a stay at the GWL? What could go wrong? A family of six with two under four (ie free) cost $100. Okay, well, the food was at least edible, right? Nope. My kids gagged at the spaghetti and mac and cheese, normally all they eat. Yes. Gagged at spaghetti. Wouldn't finish a single chicken nugget or French fry happy face. Adult food? Not even if you think Sizzler has the best steaks. The only thing decent about it was the service, which for a buffet was passable. Though don't think your drinks come with refills. $3 drinks weren't getting topped off at my table. I'd rather spend $100 for a lifecoach telling me to plan ahead better than eat here again. read more

The service here is slow even when the place is mostly empty and the food is so-so. If there's anything good to point out is their breakfast options were fantastic. I felt like their dinner options weren't prepared well and even my kid complained things tasted mushy or plain. I do think the pricing was fine though for a buffet. read more

Family of 4, staying at GWL over the weekend. Came to the Loose Moose for a quick and easy dinner after an exhausting day at the water park. Our server Michael was phenomenal! Pleasant, prompt, friendly and helpful! The food was good! Lots of selection, and they have thoughtfully catered towards kids tastes. Pizza, pasta, nuggets were all there! There was also brisket, tri-tip, salmon, poached cod and coconut shrimp! An Asian station, salads and desserts. Everyone had something they enjoyed. read more

Food wasn't very tasty and the waitress stole $110 from me by swiping my card twice even when I showed her they had already charged my card and she claimed the receipt wasn't printing! The Great Wolf Lodge Manager was great but hopefully this rude lady that "helped" us doesn't steal from any other Great Wolf customers!! GWL never ceases to amaze me with how they handle service. What I do know is that when I went to the dinner buffet it was amazing to say the least. Since when do you go to a buffet and find flank steak with a mushroom demi glaze???? I would have expected to find something like that at a fine dining establishment run by Gordon Ramsey, Wolfgang Puck some other well known chef. The food was superb and worth well more than the price of the buffet. Well.... That's just the beginning... The chefs cooked one of the flank steaks special for my wife that has some dietary restrictions.... Now that we have the food covered..... The server (Jeffery) was phenomenal... My wife has some dietary restrictions that limited the amount of food she could consume.... He took it on himself to find a way to only charge her for a children's buffet due to the amount of consumption she would be able to get to. All of this with no prompting whatsoever. This guy was amazing and should be recognized for his service. If you stay here, it is recommended that you eat here. You will be amazed!! read more

We ate here for breakfast while staying at the GWL. The food is what you would expect from a buffet at a kids resort. We have four kids who all found food they like and enjoyed. My wife and I enjoyed out food and the omelette bar was fantastic. Yes you do pay a little more than going to another restaurant, the difference in price is for convenience of not having to leave the GWL and go somewhere else. Overall a great experience read more

it's so bad. so, so bad. i want to write a thoughtful and detailed review, but mostly i find myself feeling the need to yell "DON'T DO IT! RUN AWAY!!!" i can't believe i paid nearly $40 for my 11 year old and i to choke down some of the worst food i've eaten in my life. this is below denny's quality. far below. i don't know even how to single out any one item that was bad and describe what was so terrible about it, it's just that it was *all* really REALLY bad. the food was lukewarm, painfully salty, had clearly been setting out far too long. even the soda water was flat. we're glad to be here at great wolf lodge and having fun in the water park, but we won't even bother trying any other food on site during our stay. if they're willing to charge $20 per person for this trash i don't trust any of the other restaurants they're offering here either. read more

Ok, well I don't have kids so obviously the experience will be different if you have kiddos in their pjs wanting waffles with paw prints on them. For an adult price is 14.99 plus pay for drinks. Ok not terrible considering you pay 12 for a mediocre breakfast at IHOP but here at least you can do all you can eat, which wasn't too exciting. Here is the entire list, scrambled eggs (or a cook will do them however you want) pancakes, hash browns, veggie grill mix, gravy, biscuits, chicken fried steak, waffles, sausage, bacon, fruit, yogurt, oatmeal, cream of wheat, doughnuts, cinnamon rolls. Corn dogs, tater tots, toast, English muffin, cold cereal, and of course, butter, syrup, jam, honey, and I think there was ice cream somewhere. I didn't eat everything, but I'm a damper for sure, so here's my play by play. Hash browns-Standard buffet fair, soft, soggy, and generally unexciting, but not gross mashed potato. Waffles, hard, wouldn't melt my butter, standard fare. Biscuits, hard and room temp. Scrambled eggs, soft, not wet(which I appreciate) but flavorless. Great catalyst to eat gravy or ketchup. Chicken fried steak. Ok. Kinda crispy. No weird pieces of question. Also not exciting. Corn dogs, straight from freezer to fryer. Meh. Fruit, flavorless and too much close to the rind on the melon =rock hard and no taste. Oatmeal, fine standard buffet mush. I.don't expect much texture in oats that sit. Cinnamon rolls, yuck. Hard and dry. Doughnuts dry. Butter is cold and doesn't melt. syrup isn't heated so you don't even get too melt your butter that way. Pet peeve of mine. I was so impressed with the quality of our rooms and the water park at the Great Wolf Lodge. We had a pizza for lunch and it was reasonable and tasted great. We wanted to stay in for dinner so we took our family of six to the Loose Moose for dinner buffet. PLEASE DONT WASTE YOUR $$$$$$. The owners need to revamp the menu and the quality. I was expecting at least Sizzler or Old Country buffet but it was by far worse than hospital food. read more

Went here for the breakfast buffet. DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE WE DID. It's probably the worst, most over priced buffet I have ever been to. Dann near raw, soggy hash browns. Hard, brittle, unedible mini waffles. We were told they had french toast, which turned out to be those crappy elementary school style french toast sticks. Sub par offering of room temperature fruits. Luke warm at best mini pancakes, that were hard around the edges. Sausage was undercooked and bland. The bacon was cheap, paper thin and over cooked to a brittle flake that crumbled upon touching it. The toaster doesn't toast... needs about 3 cycles before your bread is actually toasted. I can go on and on, but I'm sure my point has been made. At $15 for adults and $8 per child, plus drinks are extra... the town about 9 minutes south of the lodge has a much better offering of places to eat. Avoid throwing away your money on this place. If you're a family on a budget, don't eat here. The kids are so distracted by everything at GWL they won't want to eat anything more than a doughnut. In addition to that the food isn't even that good (imagine school cafeteria or a hospital). Fresh and a good variety. Breakfast offers a bunch of fresh fruits as well as standard breakfast fare. They also offer odd things like mini corn dogs and ice cream, but hey, to each his own. I was just here for breakfast, for the price you would expect it to be good... Nope, very bad! Food was not up to par, French toast sticks rock hard, doughnuts stale, bacon cheap, hash browns soggy and so on... At the end the cashier asked us how the food was we said not good and she says, oh okay. Not at all interested in why. Oh well, we will not be back. They had donuts, yogurt, fruit, muffins, oatmeal, bacon, sausage, hash-browns, biscuits and gravy, make your own omelet, cold cereal, scrambled eggs, vegetable medley, English muffins, waffles and French toast sticks.
