Went here to meet up with friends. The parking is only for employees. Had to park almost two blocks away. No biggy, nice walk. It was such a nice day. We had a table outside. I should start by noting that this review is coming from a non-beer drinker. As of last night, I have now been to Eppig twice, both times when beer-loving friends have been visiting from out of town. As a non-beer drinker, when I go to a brewery, I look for a comfortable and scenic location, a place that is dog friendly, food options, beer that my friends enjoy, and at least one or two non-beer options (cider or wine) for myself. Eppig checks all of these boxes. First, they always seem to have some type of food booth outside. I'm not sure if they always have the same food, or if they have various pop-ups. Last night, they had pizza. My friend enjoyed some garlic cheese bread. Eppig is located along the harbor near Shelter Island, which is one of my favorite places in San Diego. We sat in comfy Adirondack chairs, watching the sun set over the city while we enjoyed our drinks. Next, my dog was welcome there, and she had fun meeting a few friends. Finally, my friend enjoyed his Hazy IPA. I, on the other hand, had a choice of three ciders. They gave me tastes and I chose the SPG Cider. It was smooth and not too sweet. It is rare for me to say that I look forward to going to a brewery, but I will definitely return to Eppig. read more

I've always loved visiting the Eppig Biergarten in Point Loma. You cannot get any better of an atmosphere to hang out with friends or family. It's absolutely beautiful by the marina with all the boats and there's tons of seating. I used to hesitate going there though because there wasn't food available for the longest time. Finally, you can get something to eat! There's an Italian woman that owns a downtown panini restaurant on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays that is serving up, bomb Paninis and a couple of salads, made fresh for you on the spot. We tried the spicy shrimp hoagie and the meatball sandwich and both were fantastic. Huge portions, wonderful flavor and ready in just a couple minutes. She also told me that when the weather gets a little bit cooler, she will be making fresh pastas!!! Yum! My only beef with Eppig now is that if you don't feel like drinking alcohol, they don't really have very many non-alcoholic options. They have a couple of bougie local craft sodas and tea, but I'm really surprised they don't make even one nonalcoholic beer or cider. I'm not always in the mood to drink alcohol but I love the atmosphere and the availability of food now. There is a big sober/drink less movement now and they are missing out on potentially attracting more people. Most of the other local breweries that I have been to have at least one non-alcoholic offering that's not a soda. read more

Found this nice ocean front view brewing spot, with tasty ciders and nice sunshine! There is a lot of outside sitting all around the brewery, lots of options to drink - and eat, along with nice staff! I will be honest though, I walked into the area feeling a bit out of place, it may because my friend and I looked much younger then the crowd that was there, or maybe I had an all pink outfit. Either way, I got over it immediately because I'm allowed even entitled I would say, to take up space in different places. When we walked in we were greeted and given a moment to make our decisions. They had quite a few options from ales, lagers and ciders, all made by Eppig. I went with the Ube cider (very tasty if you like purple yam based items), and my sister went with their Kolsch (sorry no umlaut on my keyboard). Both were great. This Eppig Brewing taproom is simple, yet great views. The taproom itself is maybe 30 x 30 ft with open doors. It's mostly open with a couple 2 tops to stand at. Just feet outside is a patio and a dozen or two large chairs and picnic tables overlooking the bay. Most seats were full. The chairs' seats are slightly deep and angled. The chairs smartly had a bit of sandpaper to handle the beer in place with possible condensation. The staff was quick and nice. I prefer my beers more hoppy than they had, sharper with aftertaste. The flight we got didn't represent that. I sat in one of their Adirondack chairs with pleasing views of the marina and a distant view of downtown San Diego across the bay. Staff was friendly and inviting. I don't recall the name of the business making the tacos but their specialty was prime rib tacos...and they were absolutely fantastic! I'm still amazed it took us this long to visit Eppig. The location is pretty epic - right on the waterfront, views from every part of the brewery, lots of places to easily walk to. I guess we just don't get to Point Loma as often as we should. At any rate, we ended up here on my husband's birthday, and the place was fairly packed for a Thursday early afternoon. We snagged a couple of barstools overlooking the marina and had planned on hanging out for a bit, but other things got in the way (namely a full hubby - he ate so much at lunch that he didn't have a lot of room for beer.) My first - and favorite - pour was the Moment of Weakness, a dark sour. It was tasty and tart, and my brain kept forgetting that it was a sour purely because it had the coloring of a porter or a stout. I'd take a sip, acknowledge the tart flavors, put the glass down, then see it and think, "I like porters" before taking another sip only to be taken off-guard by the sour tartiness of the brew. It was amusing in the moment but really why couldn't my brain parse that information? My second pour was their Radler, which I got because I was feeling a bit boozy after the sour. The Radler was crisp and refreshing, and light enough to crush. Everyone working that day was so friendly - not just to us, but to our puppy as well. We always appreciate when someone takes a second to chat with us and to acknowledge how incredibly adorable our little guy is. read more

They have a nice selection of beer and with the setting and layout, there's often little to no wait, at least from when we were there. We just walked up, picked out a beer, then drank said beers. After getting a response from the owner very promptly to my review the intended flavor features and I directly quote "with subtle aromas of sweet pilsner malt, pear, and hint of German noble hop. Our kolsch was not intended to have tangerine or pine notes." I got the idea for how the flavor features were to be on Untappd and it makes more sense with how the flavor profile was other than the metallic aftertaste at the bottom of the can, top of the glass that it was poured into. read more
