First they forget the avocado and I have to come back. then I get the tiniest scoop of avocado in the biggest box And I literally looked at the guy and said really?! First 5-star review of 2017! After a buddy of mine told me about Low-key Poke I agreed to meet there, especially now that they have a booze option. Pulling up just as it started to rain I had a yearning for poke. No, it's definitely not an obsession, like, say, sushi, but I kinda sorta need to be in the mood for poke and tonight it was right! As per tradition the menu is staged for choices and preparation. One thing that makes Low-key different than other poke places in Riverside is the choice of kale salad and green tea infused rice. They also have taro chips and jasmine rice and spring mix salad for starters. The large size offers five scoops of fish and even tofu is a choice! One note of approval is they weigh the scoops to ensure a fair amount each time and portion control. Novel idea. The usual toppings with the possible exception of ground spicy Cheetos. Next came ordering a beer from the small selection on tap, Stella Artois did nicely, and munch a bunch. My friend warned me before ordering to mix the Lava sauce with something milder. It was a good suggestion and leant a nice and balanced flavor to my meal. I selected spicy tuna, tuna, spicy salmon, salmon, and shrimp for my five scoops and all tasted fresh and were plentiful. The green rice was nice and I ate just enough not to feel full, or break the diet raiding the frozen macaroon ice cream sandwich display. This was one of my favorite poke joints until today's incident. Since there's no indoor dining, my boyfriend and I ate our bowls in the car. A few bites in I noticed a HAIR in my bowl. I was immediately grossed out and went back in to tell the employees. What was annoying is that the girl had an attitude when we told her there was a hair in the bowl. Going to keep this simple and short. First of I'm happy to see another Poke joint in Riverside. Like all poke places same concept. The difference here is that they also serve Uni Pasta, sushi burger, truffle Fries and so on. They have beers on tap as well. Why just the 3 stars. Inconsistency and chewy pieces of fish. FOOD: My wife ordered the regular bowl with Tuna, Salmon, and Spicy Tuna with the Shoyu the way sauce. First of who mixes the spicy Tuna in with the our fish together. Doing that makes it everything taste like spicy Tuna. So to me that's a no no. The other thing is that the sauce was lacking flavor. I got the large bowl that comes with 5 scopes, so I got 2 scopes of the tuna, 1 of the Salmon, Scallops, and Spicy Tuna with the Jalapeños Sauce. Same thing they mix the spicy Tuna altogether with the our fish. If that wasn't enough I have few chewy pieces of Tuna and my large bowl was just half way fill. lemme start by saying that i understand the pandemic is hard and being an essential worker sucks (we'd know) we walked in close to 8pm and maps said they closed at 10pm, we had no idea. however nothing says EFF YOU from two workers like rushing us through the line, taking liberties with what we ordered like adding cucumbers, and literally putting so much sauce in a poke bowl that it looked like soup. We drained it - not once, not twice, three times... JK. Four times to get all the excess liquid out of there. Too bad the rice was a soggy mess. $30 for two large poke bowls after driving 20 miles to get there... just for it to taste subpar. I had an amazing, refreshing and delicious bowl of pokey today. I chose the spicy tuna and raw salmon with some greens and rice. Then when I found a table, I almost wanted to just leave because I felt uncomfortable sitting down on the filthy chairs and booths at this place. The table was beyond sticky, and I had to clean it myself and then when I got up to look around; I noticed that every table was this way. I hope management or the owner/s read this because I've been coming here for years and the food is always and consistently good but The place is filthy now-a-days....It was never like this before. The lady at the counter went way overboard with the sauce that there wasn't a single piece of my meal that wasn't absolutely covered in shoyu sauce. It's great to have another pokē spot open up in Riverside and The Low-Key Poke Joint offers something different than the other pokē restaurants in the area. LOCATION / PARKING This establishment is on the west end of Riverside off the Magnolia/Pierce exit on the 91 Freeway, near the railroad tracks. It's on the corner of a plaza so it's very easy to find. There's also plenty of parking spaces around. AMBIENCE / INTERIOR This is probably the classiest-looking pokē spot I've ever been to. Although it's a bit dark for my preference, it's still very eye-catching and not what you'd expect from a casual dining spot. I do love the decór, the chandelier, the bar area, the overall aesthetic, the graphic design including typography, the menu names, etc. It's a total package for visualizers! :) I also enjoyed the music they played because the Top 40 playlist set the tone for this trendy place! Totally cute and photo-worthy! HOW TO ORDER / FOOD Ordering your food is a simple step-by-step process. You can peruse the large overhead menu board while in line or just order as you go once it's your turn: 1. Size and Base Similar to other pokē establishments, you start off with choosing a bowl size (Regular or Large) and a base! Thanks to Yelp, I ordered the Bootea Rice (it's a must) as my base but I only asked for half with half Spring Mix salad. The Bootea Rice is not offered at the other local pokē spots so be sure to add this! Totally worth it! 2. Protein Choosing your protein is the next step and I like adding whichever looks the freshest so I chose Salmon, Spicy Tuna, and Albacore. They also have Tuna, Tofu, Shrimp, Scallop, and their Lowkey Weekly (ask for details). 3. Sauce Here's the fun part where you get to experiment with different sauces. One of my new favorite poke places! I've had this place bookmarked for awhile and haven't had the chance to go until now! It's nestled in a small plaza on magnolia street. I love this place because it has a lot of options! Not only do they have the usual poke bowls, they have poke wraps! Or sushirritos essentially. I decided to go all in and get the hot cheeto crusted wrap with bootea rice, spring mix, salmon,spicy salmon and shrimp. I also had the avocado with my mix. For sauces I had the sriachacha. FYI the cheeto crust and avocado are each a dollar more. It seems kind of small but it is very filling! Although I feel like the price is a little much, I think it is worth the experience and flavor. This is for a weekday afternoon during lunchtime, place was not too busy and NOT kid friendly. Music was loud with profanity and sexual references not blurred out so parents beware. Decent poke bowl, I added dry seaweed at the very end and it had a really bad after taste, but besides that the flavor of the bowl was good. I got salad on bottom with tofu and shrimp~ the size of the protein scoops were really small for a small. Each scoop of protein was the size of something slightly bigger than a melon baller. Anything additional was $1 extra which adds up fast. I added avocado only because a small starts at $9.95, and I eat 5 small meals a day and I was hungry after an hour so it's that small. The ingredients were fresh which I appreciate, and the dressing I asked for light which was good. There should be different prices of protein because tofu is a lot cheaper than ahi tuna, etc. read more

This place is really good. My husband and I have been coming here for years and we always order the same items, regular 3-protein bowls with the green tea infused rice. The seafood is always so fresh and flavorful as are the toppings. The sauces are delicious, sweet, savory with a hot kick. We've tried other poki places and we were not happy at all. They either lacked the flavor (tasted bland) or the fish tasted old and not fresh. If you like poki, you've got to try this place. The service is very good, helpful, friendly and courteous. I've tried low-key poke in Garden Grove a couple years back and I was excited to see one in Riverside! I was interested in the hot Cheetos topping, haha. I got a regular bowl, portion was pretty good. I'm a fan of the boo-tea rice, but they put a bit too much sauce. It covered the flavor of the rice. It was a bit too heavy for my liking. Everything tasted fresh and I loved the extra option for Hot Cheetos flakes. We came on a Saturday afternoon but the place wasn't busy at all. Customer service was good and they were patient with us since we were newbies at this. They offered samples of several sauces and the cilantro flavored rice. Sushi burritos were pretty big....there's enough for 2 meals for us small eaters. I came and I tried. I was only intrigued by their hot cheetos flakes. Really not missing too much, personally. First time here, don't let the slow service scare you away. They take their time handling your order and do it to your specifications. I had the hotritto (which is a wrap with crushed hot Cheetos on the outside) with crap meat, shrimp and avocado. It was very delicious! Nothing to drink and it cost $13. The Lowkey Poke Joint is one of my favorite poke places, and I'm so happy it finally came to Riverside. It's probably my favorite in the IE. I like to order a bowl with the Bootea rice, the shoyu and the sriracha, and with the Kpop when they have it. The service is always really good, and the servers are really attentive! Love the name. You wont forget LOWKEY. Came in on a weekday afternoon craving poke. This place was shown on insider youtube for its sushi burger so i had to try that. Workers were super friendly and welcoming. Everything was premade on the burger so i couldnt sub things out or add additional toppings. Was hoping to choose the fish but was only given spicy tuna which makes sense to mimic a burger patty. Presentation looked nice, IG worthy. We ordered a side of truffle fries and uni fries as well. The burger was just about average. Overrated imo. Cant really pick it up since it just falls apart, so that kind of ruins the experience. And they do absolute jack to help keep 6ft distance between the customers, in fact THEY ENCOURAGE THE CUSTOMER TO BE NEXT TO EACH OTHER with their BUILD YOUR OWN Line that traps you in! You don't need a million bucks to keep social distancing in your store but the management here does not care!
