The outside of the place isn't hard to find or see. When you look at it from the outside, it looks more like a tropical type of theme. Parking did seem pretty limited as they were busy when my mom and I got here. Based on that, parking can be severely limited during peak times. Once we came inside, it definitely looked like a tropical theme, which was easy to see throughout the place. Another big thing I noticed as soon as we came in (and remained the case the entire time) that it was excessively loud. It was hard to hear each other, and even our server. I never got over to the outdoor seating area as it was pretty busy. We were greeted by a hostess at the counter and we were immediately seated. With it being busy as it was, our server came over to the table and said she would be back shortly, though it was a bit longer than expected. Someone else came by to ask if we wanted water while waiting for her to come back and we both did that. Once she was able to come to the table, we weren't quite ready to order yet, but I did get the Bay Bloody Mary. The Bay Bloody Mary was good and did have a kick to it, as expected, though more than I thought. It was still good though. After a few more minutes, we were ready to order. I decided to go for The Lesner With a Waffle as the main course item, scrambled eggs, and bacon with Cheese Grits and a Fried Biscuit as the side items. My mom ordered the Jamaican Dark Rum French Toast entree with bacon and a fruit skewer. Given how busy it was, I was surprised that food came out about ten minutes later after ordering. The food looked really good and hot when it came out. I don't normally do a waffle, but that waffle was really good. I only put butter on it as I didn't want to add even more sugar to the meal already. The bacon was nice and crispy as requested. I wasn't sure how the Cheese Grits would be, but they were surprisingly good. The last item I had was the Fried Biscuit. Wow that one was a highlight for sure, though I won't do that one too often. My mom said the entree she had was good too and there were no issues. Overall, this was a good visit. I would give it 3.5 stars but rounding to 4 in this case due to the great food. The biggest negatives were the noise levels, as it was hard to talk to anyone there, and they automatically add an 18% tip for all transactions, regardless of party size. Given the circumstances, the service was good too. I will come back in the future, but maybe not on a weekend or around a holiday where it gets busier than normal. This place is worth checking out if you are in the area and looking for something to choose from to eat at.

Nothing but crab with very little binder. She loved the entire meal. I enjoyed the Honey Glazed Bone-In Pork Chop with bbq beans and potato salad for sides. The beans needed work, but the potato salad was excellent with big chucks of potato. The pork chop was star though. A huge two-bone affair grilled to perfection. I had to cut it in half and take one half home it was so large. Magnificent. We finished celebrating her birthday by sharing the S'mores Tart for dessert. Graham cracker crust with chocolate ganache layered on top, crowned with sea salt. A toasted marshmallow cream on the side with Happy Birthday written in chocolate on the plate. She was delighted. For my dining pleasure, I tried something new and went with the Bennie & the Grits. This dish piqued my interest because I never heard of grits cakes in the four decades of living on this planet. For about 20 bucks, the dish included three fried grit cakes with ground sausage, grilled shrimp, more sausage, two poached eggs and a side. Although the serving size was HUGE, I was not a bit fan of the dish. Note, I didn't think the dish was prepared badly, I just didn't get the concept of the fried grits (this from a grits lover); however, everything else with the dish was pretty good. If you are a Bloody Mary lover, you might some interesting varieties of Bloody Marys here. Additionally, I really appreciated that The Egg Bistro ranks the Bloody Marys based on spice level. Overall, I definitely would not mind visiting this location during a future trip to Va Beach. The only (very) minor issue that I had was that the outdoor seating is right next to the parking lot so you might experience some exhaust fumes/smoke while eating if you chose to dine outside. Lindsey, our bartender, was an absolute superstar. She took wonderful care of us throughout the evening and really made us feel special. Great service is about more than taking an order and keeping a glass full. Lindsey understood that distinction. The Executive Chef also came over to welcome us and started our evening with a fantastic mini tostada served with house-made guacamole and escabeche. It was an unexpected and much-appreciated touch, and a great introduction to what was ahead. We started with the Wood-Fired Wings, featured on their Wood-Fired Wednesday menu: one pound of hormone-free, all-natural organic whole chicken wings with a choice of roasted jalapeño & pineapple, chile de arbol "buffalo," white peach BBQ, or Caesar. I don't throw around superlatives lightly, but these are the best wings in the 757, and it's not even close! Next came the Tenderloin Asador, roasted garlic-marinated beef tenderloin served on a skewer with salsa cruda and salsa criolla. The beef was tender, beautifully cooked, and absolutely delicious. We also tried the Charred Brussels Sprouts with ancho sweet potato purée, maple-Dijon vinaigrette, pepitas, and goat cheese. There is a lot going on in that description, but somehow it all works together. Yummy! For dinner, my wife selected the Bone-In Pork Ribeye, served over mashed potatoes with peanut salsa macha and grilled onions. The dish was as visually appealing as it was delicious. The pork was cooked to perfection, everything was seasoned properly, and she enjoyed it very much. I ordered the Argentinian Grilled Fish, served over mashed potatoes with grilled greens, chimichurri, and almonds. I really enjoyed both the presentation and the amazing flavor of this dish. The fish arrived piping hot, perfectly cooked, and properly seasoned. Everything on the plate worked beautifully together in that rare way that is so wonderful to encounter when a dish looks every bit as good as it tastes. Naturally, celebrating 26 years of marriage required a little dessert, so we finished with the Chocolate Crème Brûlée, made with dark Colombian chocolate. Interestingly, it reminded me of pot de crème because it was served without the usual layer of hardened caramelized sugar. Not a complaint, just an observation. I enjoyed it very much. From the banter we shared with Lindsey, to the Executive Chef taking a moment to welcome us, to the atmosphere, the Happy Hour selections, and the consistently excellent food, Quemar delivered something considerably better than simply a good dinner. If you have never tried Quemar, you are missing out on more than another night out. You are missing an experience that deserves to be savored.
