So, a review: Five stars for pets hotel/play dates! My dog loves them. Tail wiggles and lots of kisses on the way there, fond farewells on the way out. I snuck in once only to see him cuddling with the caregiver during afternoon nap time. I love the attention, care and professionalism of all staff. And the few times we had to leave him at the hotel, he seemed that he didn't want to come back with us A special shoutout to Hannah, his trainer. She is his favorite human ever, and loves seeing her. Yorkies are super smart dogs, sometimes challenging to train. We started with puppy classes when he was only 5 months old with Chris (who is not there any more) and continued with Hannah. What an amazing individual! She gained his trust right away and taught us (humans) how to better communicate and work with him. When we were away, we book some one-on-one training with her too; keeping the dog both entertained and engaged is important! Three stars for grooming. I don't have a favorite groomer, but a couple of times his nails are overtrimmed and he is really scared going in there grooming salon... Three stars for the store. Nothing special. She patiently answered all my questions, and I could tell she was passionate about taking care of the fish and plants. I separately had placed an order online for pick up, and she forgot to include an item, but I managed to get a refund on the product. Overall, I think this place has many strengths in having a variety of aquarium and plant supplies, plenty of live plants and snails, different colored shrimp, and seemingly every other fish except endlers. The staff I interacted with were friendly and very helpful. I thought the place was as clean as it could be although there's definitely a strong pet smell. I strongly recommend avoiding any of the Boston Dog Company locations if this is how they run their business. It's not worth getting your dog used to coming to a daycare that could close at literally any time. In hindsight, I looked further into their 'awards' from US Pet Review, and found that USPR appears to be nothing more than a blog that exists only to give awards to Boston Dog Company. Algae growth is a sign of healthy tank water. I would worry if the tanks looked sterile. In the aquarium hobby sterility kills. The other pets may look "miserable" because they were rescued but you didn't bother to inquire about that, did you? Confront the owner first, then write your review. Seeing mature and well cycled tanks with plants and a bit of algae is always a good sign in a fish store and if the water is good for the cat to drink, it must be good for you as well. Someone even suggested the owners should "wash their cat". Do they even know how cats WORK? Those who scrub their tanks, end up busy fishing out corpses the next day and I'm sorry to say, if you put in your tank a fish that has been swimming in the store tank for weeks and it dies the next day in your tank, it's ON YOU for improper acclimation or wrong water parameters. Having good test results doesn't mean that other parameters like water hardness and temperature check out. Most fish I bought there had no issues. Occasional fish death and illness can be random but can't be blamed on the person who just sells them.

Although the prices of the fish and plants are a bit higher than corporate ones, the fish are supposedly from a better source and healthier, and it's a local business.
