This choice was not made lightly, and it comes as a result of insurmountable challenges in maintaining adequate staffing in our kitchen, compounded by rising operational costs. Throughout our journey, our goal has always been to offer you an exceptional dining experience. Unfortunately, the challenges we have faced have made it increasingly difficult to maintain the standards that our guests deserve and expect. We know some of you will shake your heads and point to all of our faults. We've certainly had many but our greatest accomplishments, our three kids, deserve so much better than what we've been able to give them over the past year. We know some will question us for doing this on such short notice. Please know that we had no other choice. Without a kitchen staff we cannot operate the restaurant. We know that many of you will want to reach out to us to lend your support. We are taking this time to spend it with our family and catch-up on long overdue snuggles and hugs and memories. The owners of Legitimus Brewery in New Hartford, opened up this restaurant which serves New American food, craft cocktails, and craft beer. It's located in the quaint and quintessential town, Collinsville, CT. It's situated right on the Farmington River and just steps away from the historic Collins Axe Company. We went on a Saturday for lunch; there were plenty of parking. Since it's winter, the patio area overlooking the river was closed; I can't wait to dine on there when it gets warmer. They didn't have high chairs yet, but we improvised and brought our baby carriage in. The place was lovely; I loved the emerald green chairs and the plants on the walls as decor. The bar looked classy too. Our server was friendly and attentive. We started off with the cheese board; for $16 it came with three cheeses, nuts, fig jam, mini pickles, and crostini. The cheeses were blue cheese, brie, and gruyere. The board was great and had a good amount of cheese; I just wished there were more crostini to hold all the cheeses. They had an awesome food and cocktail menu. I ordered the pomegranate margarita $14; it had pear juice, tequila, honey, and triple sec and it was a tasty drink. I've been following them on social media for a bit and their short rib dish ($28) looked delicious. I had to get it for lunch even though it's a dinner entree. It's Legitimus beer braised short rib, carrots, onions, over garlic mashed potatoes and cheddar. The short rib melted in my mouth, the au jus was flavorful, and the mashed potatoes tied it all together. It was a 5 star dish. The ambiance, food, and service were 5 stars. The prices were a little high but you pay for the quality. They make their own syrups and juice their own lemons & limes for their cocktails. The Lunette is located right in the midst of all of the antique shops of Collinsville. I was a bit confused on how to enter this restaurant. There is a sign that said enter at the front door, well I couldn't find this front door. Every single door was to an antique shop, and they were all closed. So I called The Lunette to help me understand how to find them. The very nice lady told me to walk towards the blue lights. That was helpful. The inside was cute, with subtle little decorations. The outdoor patio was more impressive, with the Farmington River right next to the patio. Unfortunately it is currently much too windy to comfortably dine outside. We were the only ones here tonight, other than the two gentleman at the bar. Our waitress, Maria seemed to be the only one running the show. For my cocktail, I got The Green Bird. This is rum based with pineapple, orange and lime juices. This was a bit tart and refreshing, but not too sweet. For my meal, I got the Portobello Wrap. This wrap in addition to the mushroom, came with spinach, feta and hummus. It also came with fries on the side. It was very filling. While nothing was wrong with it, I wouldn't get it again, maybe because it was a bit too ordinary. Others got, the calamari, this was ok. The fish and chips, the fish portion was massive, it could easily feed two. And finally The Short Rib sandwich a very filling and generous portion, but far too salty. Now, the stars of the show were for sure the desserts. We got the creme brûlée and the flourless chocolate torte. The creme brûlée was perfection, with the glazed sugar layer, and its creamy vanilla goodness below it, this was hard to share. The chocolate torte slice was very small, but very rich in chocolate, this was satisfying for the chocolate lover in our group. The food was all pretty average at the Lunette. The drink and the desserts were the standouts. The service was excellent. read more

Great food , creative menu . We arrived on the early side so it wasn't busy. It was very cold inside and everyone was wearing their coats. Interior had a industrial feel to it. Our meals were delicious but they were cold when they were brought to our table. For a 29.00 entree I would think it would be served warm. All of our meals were cold which was disappointing. To this place credit it just opened... We went on a Saturday night at 5:30 and were promptly seated. The food was good, with the star of the show being the mussels. We also ordered the Lunette burger and the French onion soup. These were good, but the mussels were our favorite. For drinks, we had a chocolate-cherry Manhattan , an old-fashioned, and a whiskey drink called the hatchet? All the drinks were OK, but none were amazing The wine list was sparse, maybe something they're still working on? For now, I would stick with the beer, since Legitimus is known for its amazing beer! As for service, our server was knowledgeable, funny, kind, and prompt. I'd love to come back once they get their feet under them and can't wait to try more dishes on the menu. read more

Very attractive restaurant indoors and on the deck, overlooking the Farmington River. Lots of parking. Restaurant was not noisy, which makes it ideal for having conversations with family and friends. Gone twice now with family and tried the Portobello Wrap, Crab Cake, Burger and Short Ribs-all were excellent! Servers were pleasant and wait times were reasonable. I would definitely recommend trying The Lunette. read more

Extremely slow service, ordered medium rare steak that was blue when it came out... didn't bother to complain because it took two hours and we just wanted to get out of there. Pretty unacceptable to get a served sliced steak's temp wrong (it looked as if it was cooked from frozen given how crusty it was on the outside)... French onion soup was good. There is potential here but they need to get organized, two hours to get food with a reservation isn't acceptable. It's also quite cramped on the inside, hopefully opening the outside porch later this summer will improve this. Will give this place another shot in a couple of months. read more

We had dinner at the Lunette last night for the first time and we will definitely be back. Literally everything about the meal was fantastic. The setting is fantastic, right on the river, with a super cute bar and dining room in a historic town, Collinsville. We sat at the bar and ordered chicken noodle soup, which was homemade and delicious. Then we ordered hummus and pits and the hummus was made with chopped up, marinated vegetables in it and was literally the best hummus that we've ever had in our lives. Next we had the fish and chips and the fish came with a fantastic side sauce, was crispy, fresh, and delicious. Next I had pots de crème, which was homemade and fantastic. That is one of my favorite desserts, and it was the best one I've ever had. We both had coffee, which was French press, and my wife is a coffee fanatic and said the coffee was excellent. The prices are good, too, and all in all it was a great restaurant experience. Highly recommended. read more

We went for late Sunday lunch and nearly had the place to ourselves! Francesco is an excellent server with attention to detail, friendly spot-on recommendations, and unobtrusive. We enjoyed a delicious mocktail cranberry fizz, Brussel sprouts, amazing whipped feta with pitas, and shared the short rib French dip with fries - outstanding food, portions, prices and presentations. We hope to get back when the deck is open for a view of the gorgeous Farmington River but we will stay for the food! read more

Was excited to try Lunette because we love Legitimus and the owners seem like really good people. Beer was great as always but I don't know if it was a bad night or the chef was sick but the food was bad! The drinks were tasteless. I had the "short rib" which seemed like more of a cheap pot roast you could get at any local grocery store. It was hammered and dry as a bone, the jus had no flavor and the mashed potatoes tasted like they were out of a box. Service was lacking somewhat too, despite the owner being at the restaurant that night. The place has potential based on location and beer but definitely needs to step up the food game massively. read more

We highly recommend this restaurant it was everything we thought it would be. From the moment we walked in we felt welcomed. The ambiance was warm. We had a party of seven, started with cocktails, and I had a refreshing hibiscus cocktail which was on the spring drinks menu, very good. Of course our appetizers did not disappoint from the Brussels sprouts to our calamari every bit of them were gone before our dinner was served. I decided to start with a French onion soup and my husband had the wedge salad. All the salads and my soup were delicious and now onto the main course. I thought I was going to be too full to eat my main course but I didn't have a problem eating it all gone plus trying a bite of everyone's plate. We had the steak, short ribs and chicken on the table and it was so good. My personal favorite was the tender steak. I ordered the chicken that just melted in my mouth with a swoosh of Chalk Hill Chardonnay. Can you believe we still had room for dessert? Chocolate tort , chocolate mousse and crème brûlée all so delicious and we shared them all on the table with everyone. Throughout our dinner the service was exceptional. Ordered the onion soup and fish & chips. The onion soup was flavorless. The fish and chips was obviously overcooked. I can't believe it was even presented to the table. Service was terrible when it counted. I asked for additional tarter sauce and ketchup. Took forever. It didn't arrive to the table until i was done eating. I would consider my feelings on the food mixed. One of the dishes at the table was very good while the other was subpar. I was not a fan of the fries, as I thought they were a bit burnt. The ambience and service were both very good though. As I understand it, the restaurant is still somewhat new, and there were enough positives for me to try again. read more

Had a lovely late afternoon lunch. Too early in the season to enjoy outdoor seating riverside, but indoor ambiance was light and airy. Courteous and friendly waitstaff. Enjoyed their whipped feta and nice succulent muscles apps. Duck confit was also tasty. Nice way to spend a leisurely Sunday afternoon. We'l be sure to return again. read more

I was intrigued by the location and the looks of the menu and it did not disappoint! My husband ordered the Salmon which was so tasty and done just right! I ordered the Short Rib dinner and it was melt in your mouth delicious! I ended up taking 1/2 home but it was tough to put my fork down. We shared the flour less chocolate torte for dessert and it was also amazing! Collinsville has always been a beautiful town to visit and The Lunette is a great addition! read more

Got to the restaurant for a 5:30 reservation. Waiter was very friendly and atmosphere was modern fancyish. Put in drink orders and got bread and butter around 5:40. Did not see our waiter again until 6. Put in an order for an appetizer and ordered our meals. Got our meals around 6:40 and never got our appetizer. Finished our meals by 7 and asked for the appetizer to be taken off our bill. Our waiter was nice enough to offer us a free dessert. A rocky start to a new business but all around the meals were great, the staff is very nice (like to crowd around the bar and talk though.) Absolutely love the owners and would come again once they get out of the opening jitters. read more
