Every table had a roll of paper towels which was much needed after handling the delicious seafood. We split the Luscious Special Boil (I believe) and it was the perfect amount for the 8 of us! this was my first seafood boil ever so i don't really have anything to compare it to, but i thought it was pretty good! we got the head-on shrimp, calamari, and fried crab. the shrimp was definitely my favorite, and i thought the calamari was pretty good too. the tentacle pieces were definitely the best lol. i really liked having the rice with it too because it was good for soaking up all the sauce from the pan. the fried crab was an interesting appetizer. it was good, but i don't think i'm the biggest fan of fried food, so it was kind of just mid for me. the atmosphere inside was pretty cool though, and overall i enjoyed the experience! read more

Don't taste fresh, meat was chewy and mushy which lead me to believe they were dead. Some what disappointed when you specialize in this and it's not up to par. Walking into this restaurant where you are greeted by a supersized lobster stature, fish nets and other nautical items, you may not remember your in St Paul. The festive decor is matched with yummy food! The menu is fairly simple. The appetizer list has a variety of old standards for a seafood restaurant such as hush puppies as well as a few you'd find in an Asian restaurant like edamame. There's a number of pasta and sandwiches with seafood in them, such as a fried oyster sandwich. We ordered the hush puppies and they were excellent. Freshly made, the textures crunchy on the outside and soft but not too doughy on inside was perfect. The hint of onion provided excellent flavor. My only disappointment was that they were served with tartar sauce- which may be normal but was not a flavor combo I like. Next time I will ask if they can be served at same time as the seafood boil because the hush puppies would have been even more amazing dipped in the sauce that came with the bowl. My first Cajun crawfish boil! Got a combo that had a 1/2 lb of shrimp, 1/2 lb if crawfish, 2 potatoes and 2 pieces of corn. Loved the flavor of the seasonings though it was a little more Asian than I expected (not sure if this is normal or because the owners of the restaurant are Chinese.) We got the mild version which still had a good spicy kick. Also got hush puppies that had good flavor and were fried well though a little bit dense. Do wish I'd saved some to dip into the shrimp boil sauce though. The space is cute with lots of fun nautical themed pieces to take photos with (giant lobster, pirate, nets, etc) but also pretty stark and not very cozy. read more

For two people with strong appetites, it was the right fit, but could work for up to three. We got our meal cooked with the House Cajun Spice. In general, the flavor was quite good, if a bit inconsistent. The crab for example was more flavorful than the crawfish, but everything felt very fresh. The shrimp was the star for me, practically falling out of its shell and full of flavor. Service was also top-notch. The restaurant is clean and modern, and there are glove dispensers and buckets for shell disposal at every table. The only improvement on this front would be to provide a shell-cracker for each diner, but sharing between two was no big deal. I'll be back! read more

The owner served us personally and was so delightful, consistently checking in on us and adding such great conversation and great vibes during each check-in. A couple of good things and several screw-ups - 3 stars. I checked out this place tonight with an old friend of mine that works for the State of MN not far away. They seem to be a Louisiana style place with seafood, crawdads, and Po Boys. You get the idea. Disclaimer: I'm not a huge seafood fan and my friend IS a seafood fan...but...she wasn't too interested in dropping a Ben Franklin on one of the big "by the pound" trays. We went with simple baskets, but I feel the big messy seafood trays are definitely the main thing to order. Everyone else was eating a version of that tonight. You're gonna drop some dough due to high seafood prices and inflation - not the fault of the restaurant at all though. To start things off, you can have a glass of water or soda in a can. Basic stuff. Our first food items were fried calamari and a cup of shrimp gumbo soup and a side of corn (3). For the meals, we got a fried shrimp basket with Cajun fries and a fried oyster basket with Cajun fries. I topped it all off with green tea flavored cheese cake. The Calimari and the soup were good. Our fried baskets were okay. NEEDS IMPROVEMENT: Hummm, where to begin? There were several irritating things, most of which can be easily fixed. 1. They forgot my order of sweet corn. I didn't say anything about it to our server (the owner?), I just went with what they brought us because I was starting to get a negative vibe. 2. They gave us wimpy portions of cocktail sauce. After my second time asking for more, he dropped the bottle on the table. 3. I wasn't impressed with the Cajun fries...whatever. 4. The lettuce leaf under my fried shrimp had brownish rot around the edges. Back when I was a kid and cooking at a Happy Chef Restaurant (remember those?), my boss would have kicked my ass if I let that leave the kitchen. Come-on, just grab the next leaf off the lettuce head! 5. The green tea cheesecake was good and looked beautiful. But I couldn't taste any tea flavor whatsoever. None. Zero. What's worse, the front was warm and the back 2/3 was frozen like a rock. You can actually see this in my photo...where the ice crystals start and where they end. Amateur. 6. They tried to bill us for a catfish meal, which we didn't order. I was a little suspicious when he didn't take notes during our order. I figured he was one of those savants that can remember everything. I guess not. 7. Last but not least, the neighborhood is super sketchy. When I was driving west, getting ready to take a left at the restaurant, a car was literally parked in the middle of both east bound lanes to talk to his buddy, blocking everything. I went around the car by going into a parking lot. The dude finally stopped talking to his buddy and took off. That's not all. Next, another dude was dancing and swaying on the light rail center island but then he walked into the middle of University Avenue, dancing in the road and stopping all traffic. I can't believe no one hit him because it was rainy and getting dark. All of this happened in front of me, trying to get to the restaurant. What the hell? The seafood was fresh but they need to provide a utensil to get the crab meat out. Crab was tender enough but the legs were quite skinny. The shrimp were fantastic though. The sauce had a great depth but was not spicy enough for my taste. Corn and potatoes were awesome and absorbed all the flavor. I would go again at full price, if it was cheaper. Reviewing boiled crawfish. Ordered 2 Lbs, cajun seasoning, hot. Was pleasantly greeted with 3 potatoes and 2 corn, gratis. Crawfish size: medium-large. Came in consistent size. Dead crawfish: 1 Heat profile: Hot tasted like medium. Back end spicy, not forward. There were some fresh sliced jalepenos at the bottom of the bag so I think they added jalapenos to the boil for spice. I presume that the normal way to add spiciness is to add cayenne. Spice flavor: 3/5 stars. Not bad, certainly the tails are seasoned fine. Sucking on the carapace to get to tomalley, the flavor is blander and dilute. Needs more salt. I liked that they used a coating of spice and garlic rub that caked everything. Spicy oil on the bottom. Not typically found in backyard or grocery store boils, but excellent in my book. Perfect for dipping bread or mixing with white rice. Meat quality: 4/5 stars. Obviously farmed fresh and boiled live. I arrived a few min late to pickup and another 10 min drive home. By that time the vein could be pulled cleanly from the tail 1/10 of the time. Meat pulls cleanly from the tail shell. Not stringy, but a little less moisture than I expected. If I had to guess, it was slightly overdone, but the meat wasn't overly denatured. Corn: perfect. A minor thing, but was clearly cooked fresh for this order. Unheard of. Potatoes: Cooked well done. I liked it, easy biting. Price: $13 per pound. Astronomical for peak crawfish season, but given its about 1200 miles from a crawfish farm, totally acceptable. Final opinion: Adequate for a crawfish boil. Enough to satisfy a spring crawfish hankering. Compared to NOLA boil houses, I'd say it was mediocre. In this town it may be among the best. So long as crawfish is in season, I'd be willing to come back. By June, I probably wouldn't be back until next year. read more

I was in the twin cities for the day for work and in between appointments was looking for something to eat and stumbled upon this place. The inside is bigger than I thought it was going to be from the outside. The inside looks very nice for this type of restaurant. I enjoyed the decor, ambiance, and overall vibe! It was early afternoon so I was able to get seated right away. Their staff was really nice and met all my needs the entire time, without over doing it. The menu had more of a selection than I had originally thought. I walked in thinking it was just a seafood boil restaurant, but they had much more than that. I ended up ordering their snow crab and shrimp boil lunch special. I added all 3 of their seasonings (Cajun, lemon pepper, & garlic butter) with the medium level heat. The food came out fast, hot, and was really good! All the flavors blended well and the medium heat was just spicy enough to make my nose sweat (spicy food lovers will enjoy the next couple levels of heat).
