My mind is blown. The seafood here is affordably priced and I am not used to that! My friends and I split the deluxe, with a couple add ons. It was plenty for the 3 of us. We also got the fries oysters, a side of sweet potato fries, and soft shell crab. I was so shocked that the soft shell crab appetizer came with 4 for only $13. I've always only had 1 for $14 in Chicago! Everything tasted good, and the service and ambiance were great too! Came here for my daughter's 13th birthday dinner and it was fantastic! We ordered a ton of food and all of it was amazing, we had calamari, softshell crab, crawfish, shrimp, dungeoness crab, snow crab, mussels, corn and potatoes and nothing was less than excellent. I have driven by this place countless times and written it off but finally decided to try it, and I was beyond surprised by how delicious everything was! You can honestly not beat this place as it comes to flavor and cost, it's incredibly affordable. The service was super quick and we had all of our food within like 15 minutes. The place had some quirky decorations and vibe to it but it kinda works. Not super upscale but who needs that when you're tearing into a huge seafood boil and making a big mess. Went here to celebrate a birthday. I'd never been to a seafood boil restaurant. I will definitely come back. It was a Friday night do service was a tad slow. But the food was amazing. We split the calamari and the sauce was delicious. We opted for the seafood deluxe boil and added eggs and mussels. We ordered it house style medium spice level. I ordered a pound of shrimps, with extra corns and extra sauce, and the calamari baskets. I got the combined flavors with medium spice and it lacks of flavors. It taste like oils only, i was only able to eat 2 shrimps. I go to every seafood boils i can find every time i travel, and this isn't one i will return. Every seafood boils i go to would include some lemons but this one doesn't, and they charge if you ask for some. The calamari baskets basket isn't as crunchy as i was expecting it to be, its soft. We stopped in Saturday afternoon, it was busy but the building is spacious and the service is fast. I got the make your hands dirty with crab, shrimp, and mussels. It's hard to get a good boil this far up north but Cajun kitchen does it right. We ordered online for some takeout but upon arrival were surprised at how big the resteraunt was. Lots of parking and what seems like plenty of seating inside. Counter service was quick and our food was immediately ready for us to go. We ordered two boils, one with crawfish and sausage and one with sausage and shrimp. The boils themselves were huge! One is probably easily enough food for two. We got one in Cajun kitchen special sauce and one in Cajun medium. If you love your boils with a ton of butter the Cajun kitchen special is for you. It was way too much for my personal preference and would just go with a Cajun in the future. Well, you know it's usually a good sign when you get excited to visit a restaurant for the second or third time. This restaurant is currently second on my list of favorites that offer a seafood boil, but is nonetheless, worth the drive. We were seated almost immediately after entering. The waitress (although slightly difficult to understand), was patient with us and kept an eye out in refilling our drinks throughout the meal. As far as the food goes, there's not much I can say except that I wish I had gotten more snow crab. I felt like it wasn't enough, but it was definitely tasty and cooked to perfection along with the other items included in the dish. We were seated right away. The place was clean and the staff was friendly. Fast service too. We got our waters and I ordered a beer. We decided to order the Seafood Deluxe for the two of us and were able to order it with beef sausages which was a pleasant surprise as you don't see that as often. They came over with plates, crab cracker, bibs, gloves and a bucket for the shells. The food came out pretty quickly in a plastic bag that looked like a balloon because of the steam. All that was left to do was open the bag, dump it all on the tray and dig in. We had ordered mild spice which was perfect for us since my daughter doesn't like it too spicy. The shrimp and sausages were great and tasty so was the lobster. The crab legs were hard to get the meat out of but we did ok. The vegetables were the least flavorful especially the corn and the potatoes. The flavor hadn't penetrated them as well. The broccoli was pretty good though. We also goa side order of white rice to soak all that gravy even though it was a little oily. This was an enjoyable seafood boil but not great. I would not mind going back there but would also like to try some others to see if they are better. We do make a pretty good seafood boil at home but the convenience cannot be beat. read more

I am a huge seafood fan; obviously in Minnesota it is difficult to find seafood that tastes fresh. For a seafood boil, the options were slim. Although this place offers different spice levels, the flavor tastes the same: super buttery and peppery. I prefer other seafood boils like Crafty Crab in Fridley over this place. The corn cobs were cut into quarters or thirds... totaling to a half corn cob in the entire dish. The service was pretty quick and the pricing cheaper than other locations but I likely won't be going back. Serving portions do not appear to be the 1lb sizing but I'm sure they are weighing it out. This used to be a Wendy's - they have turned the space into a nicer place with a "southern oceanic" feel. It's a good spot to go to when on a Keto diet as the carb-load is low. read more

First time trying this restaurant. Nice and clean on the inside. Waiting staff were very friendly. We decided to get 1 lb crawfish + 1 lb shrimp (head on) both very good. Seafood was hot. The seasoning was not too spicy. Very flavorful. Wish there were more potatoes and corn in the boil. The red potatoes are nice and soft (tip: cut them in half so the seasoning can soak into the potatoes). Would definitely try this location again they have more options other than boils. read more

The food was still great. However, the service was a bit questionable this time around. The paper towels at our table had alot of oil on top like someone had grabbed it with their oily glove and saturated pretty much the entire roll. We asked for a new roll which our waitress swapped with another table and put the oil side down at the other table. We had also ordered a side of boiled eggs for our daughter and we repeated it several times to our waitress who only kept confirming our seafood order.. of course the eggs didnt come out with our meal and 20 minutes later we were able to get the bus boy to get them for us. I love this place. I come here or take takeout from here regularly. I have only had their boils and skipped the other items on their menu. The service is not that great until you're recognized as a regular, but the food is really what does it for us. It doesn't really matter what you put in your boils, the sauce is what brings it all together. If you split your boil with one other person, I recommend only getting 1/2 lbs of each item you'd like. I was so excited when I saw this place was replacing the Wendy's that use to be there. No need to worry about parking, they have their own private parking with lots of space. I feel like I am sitting next to the ocean or something. The pricing is reasonable. If you are dining in, they do have a small selection of alcholic beverages. Beer and wine only. I decided to treat my family to dinner, so I ordered a lot of food. I ordered a side of hush puppies(10 per order), a bowl of gumbo, 1lb of mussels, 1lb of crawfish, 1/2 lb of squid, 1/2lb of sausage, 2lbs of head on shrimp, and a shrimp basket with fries. I believe my total was about $90. I thought this was a pretty reasonable price for the amount of food we received.The seafood comes with corn and potatoes. You can pick your seasonings or mix and match. They offer the classic cajun seasoning, lemon pepper, cajun kitchen special, garlic butter, and a few others. I got the regular cajun seasoning. There was a ton of flavor in each bite. The seafood didn't taste as fresh, but I don't expect much, we do live in Minnesota. if you have a big seafood order like mine, they ask if you want it all in a bag, separated bags, or in a big tray. I opted to go for the tray. The tray came with steamed broccoli as well. They also provided me with a handful of bibs. The atmosphere is cute. I love how they have a sink in the dining area for you to wash your hands instead of running to the restroom. First of all, one bonus star should be automatically awarded to any independent restaurant that opens in Crystal, home of every boring fast food chain in Minnesota. But more importantly, my son-in-law and we were both super-impressed after weI went there tonight. The service was excellent (contrary to other reviews -- maybe because they weren't overly busy) and the food was fantastic. We both had the combo of snow crab and shrimp. He had the head-on shrimp and the "hot" spice level (3 of 4), seasoned garlic butter style and I opted for the head-off shrimp and the "no spicy" level garlic butter style. Next time -- and there will be a next time (!), I will try the level 1 or 2 spice. The hot level here seems to be much more tame than Cajun Deli (different owners) than here at Cajun Kitchen. That's why I was so conservative in my spice level, but after trying Aaron's sauce, I would go spicier. Also, we found that the "head-on" shrimp, in addition to, you know, having heads also are not deveined (the intestinal track was not removed), so I would stick with the "head-off shrimp" which are cleaned before serving. The price for seafood here is excellent and I think they have more variety than at their competitor in Brooklyn Park. They also have lunch specials, as well as dinner specials. Prices for clams and mussels seemed exceptionally low with crab and shrimp being very, very reasonable -- maybe even less than buying the food uncooked at Hy-vee and having to make it at home. Please note that this is a seafood restaurant with oysters, clams, crab, crawfish, etc. Don't look for New Orleans style cooking here. Read the menu online before you go and you will have a better understanding of this style of cooking. I have lived in Crystal for over 40 years and this is the BEST restaurant I've found in our city. (Yes, Miltons is good too!) Overall, this was a winner for me and I highly recommend it based on food quality, food taste, price, variety of seafood, and lots of seating. read more

Best price for around for a great seafood boil. Yes, the service is a little questionable, but it's because of the language barrier. This is the price we pay for great food and I am not mad about it. Someone said they are "stingy on the sauce"? Not at all true!!! The garlic butter has chunks and chunks of garlic in tons of butter sauce. This is great to pour over the white rice. I had the seafood gumbo, which I was told by the busboy is from a can, but it was still pretty good and had I not asked I may have never known. Overall great place for great seafood. read more

I ordered delivery from Cajun Kitchen and the food was just okay. I got the popcorn shrimp and Cajun fries, chicken tenders, hush puppies and chocolate cake, just to get a taste of several dishes. Nothing had much seasoning, the Cajun fries were soggy--I know that they'd be less crisp than normal since I did delivery but they were very limp--and had no flavor to them. They were just colored a darker color than regular fries. Popeyes has better fries. The popcorn shrimp was over cooked and dry. The hush puppies were flavorless though the texture was good and the chocolate cake had obviously been previously frozen. I was really disappointed because I was hoping to find a new local restaurant with amazing food, but this was not it.
