    Smothered chicken with side salad
    Benjamin S.

Brasa is a small but mighty restaurant. Mighty in their food quality and friendly staff, that is. FOOD: can't go wrong here. I got their smothered chicken and a side salad. Portions were not super large, but flavor and filling-ness was great. SERVICE: above average and friendly PARKING: I had no issues but their lot was small AMBIANCE: it's a small place but welcoming and fun.

It's a really cozy moody interior, with *no big lights* aka great low lighting and comfy seating options. When we went, there were just a few other parties there so pretty quiet. I liked that we had a whole corner to ourselves with a sectional couch of sorts and some chairs. They close at 10pm on a Friday night, which felt absurdly early for a cocktail bar. But, we were able to order and drink one drink during the ~45 minutes we had. They closed up shop promptly at 10pm. They had a classics and a "rumors" section of the menu. I didn't think the signature drinks were overly unique, with classics like Paper Plane making that menu side. I had a pomegranate mojito which was good! Consensus was that the cocktails were good not exceptional, especially for the $16-17 price point. We ordered churros for the table which were a table favorite! I wouldn't go out of my way to come here again, but we enjoyed our time and could see this being a good option if you lived in the neighborhood and don't mind the early close hours.

Can't beat the views and the parking if you're lucky is pretty close, but no problem to walk to this place. Inside seating is just as nice with great views. Service was exceptional! We had the absolute best server who was just amazing! So outgoing and made the visit enjoyable. Just an absolute delight and I heard others complimenting his as well. He really made our Mother's Day brunch enjoyable. Food was great: Mediterranean chop salad looked amazing and was said to be very good. Eggs, bacon and toast were good. American breakfast- good potatoes. Breakfast sandwich was good. Amazing sauce on the arugula. Breakfast tacos were also said to be good with really good tortillas. Bloody Mary was pretty good. It didn't have all the bells and whistles with it, but it was a great spicy flavor. This place is a gem and checked all the boxes. I am sure it is quite packed in the warmer months. Excellent music playlist and clean restrooms. Highly recommend this place!

I went with the Mexico City cocktail that has a smoky yet fruity taste to it alongside a black salt rim. Delish. Their brunch menu looks great and their patio overlooking the city - can't beat those views! Remy and Brady were our awesome bartenders who were friendly and helpful with suggestions.

The food lived up to the pics and reports I had seen beforehand. The fries were crispy and well seasoned (cajon dry rub) and my chicken sandwich was tasty. We had ranch and comeback sauce to dip but our server brought us a garlic aioli that was her fave. All were good. I would definitely try this place again. Loved the vibe and the food. It did get noisy when more people showed up (one was a loud talker), so that made it difficult to have a conversation, but I definitely recommend. Also, I did see a lot of pick orders while we were there, so this place has a well-deserved, good rep.

Ordered the chicken suqqar and my friend got the beef suqqar with ugali. The meats were a little dry and didn't have a lot of flavor. I asked for some of the green sauce that helped, but it would have been nice if the dishes had more flavor on their own. The spinach dish that came with the ugali had a lot of flavor, and the ugali had nice texture. It was a very cozy space and the service was friendly, but I was also overcharged for my dish (didn't notice it until I paid). I wanted to love this place, but found it only OK. I will try it one more time since they didn't have the dishes I wanted to order.

She warned us it was sweet so I passed. She seemed to be genuinely enjoying her job, not something I see often in restaurants. I chose a Sambusa and a Mandazi since they looked like they would be easy to stuff in my coat. Mama Safia's looks like a tiny corner place from the outside but seems bigger on the inside. Bright and sunny with well spaced tables. I saw some full orders being served and they looked amazing. It didn't take long to get my order but the march had ended, so I went back to my car and bit into the Sambusa (aka Samosa in other cuisines) as soon as I was out of the wind. Best I've ever had! Lovely flakey crust with a mild curry taste in the chicken filling. The Mandazi is something like a donut but not overly sweet, and aromatic with warming spices. This could actually be a 5 star, but I feel I should return for a full meal experience.

The one thing I did find odd is that any toast that comes with your breakfast actually comes out in a separate basket. Mine arrived about 10 minutes before the rest of my breakfast which was the 2 eggs, sausage and potatoes. For me I would rather have it arrive on my breakfast plate because I am one of those folks that likes to dip their toast in their over-easy egg yolks. Arriving before the rest of your breakfast if you hold onto it awaiting the rest of your breakfast you are using cold toast. Everything still tasted good. But I did leave hungry. I actually sat there for a moment thinking do I need to order something else but how would that look. I am not a huge eater -- and typically have a little bit of something left on my plate when I go out for breakfast but this time not so much. First time I have ever taken myself out for breakfast and came home and had a snack.
