The food that we had was decent. However, the service was terrible. We got our appetizers relatively fast but our meal took well over an hour. The other day, while deciding where to go with friends for a Friday night out, my wife suggested the Lime Bar (Lyme Grill) in Avon, CT. I now wish she'd suggested root canal surgery without novacaine! We got there about 7, and were able to get a table out on the patio...BIG MISTAKE! To start, this place is in the Riverdale Shopping Plaza on Route 10. It is obviously trying to be a cool, hipster type of place and we were enthusiastic to go based on some of the reviews. Unfortunately I think those reviews were written by the owner and his/her family and friends! The decor is okay, the patio nice and the view of Heublien Tower a plus. The menu is limited and the drink menu seems to me, moderate, for a place listing itself as a bar. The beer listing were limited. We ordered nachos to start, and they came out overcooked and dry. That's after they finally came out which was about 30 minutes after we ordered them! My wife and my friends wife both had salads which were fine for a main course, but again, a 30 minute wait from when they brought the nachos out. My friend and I both ordered burgers. Plan B and Max Burger, you have nothing to worry about. McDonalds, you are in the clear! I orderedmy burger medium rare, it was medium well. My friend ordered his medium, it was well done! About the only plus were the fries, a ton and cooked well. Meanwhile, I mentioned sitting outside was a big mistake. While we were there someone came out and lit a citronella torch, but only one. We had to ask for ours to be lit, but of course we had to wait for the waitress to re-appear! Finally it was done. However by that point I'd been turned into a mosquito fiesta as had my friend's wife! Well, needless to say, I don't recommend Lime Bar. It's a big fat LEMON! read more

Went out for a girls night recently. It was my first time there. I was excited because I have heard great things about their food. It was a Saturday night and the place was jam packed. There was a band in one room and football on tv so the bar area was standing room only. Once everyone arrived, we ordered food. It was all excellent and delicious. My only problem was that it took nearly 45 minutes to get appetizers. The staff were gracious in updating us along the way, but it seemed an unusually long wait for such quick items. Only a few other people had food during that time. Overall, I really liked it there and despite the band, TVs and crowds, the noise level wasn't so high that you couldn't have a conversation. read more

Have been going here for years. Love their menu, and beer selection is fairly good. Their pulled pork mac-n-cheese is incredible. We love their outdoor eating area during warmer weather. Always a first choice for a work get together or small private party as well. read more

Oh lime bar, how i really wanted to like you. Unfortunately, the experience was so lackluster that me and my companion actually decided to scrap things and head elsewhere. Let me back up: Came here on a recent Monday, knowing the place would be nice and relaxed. Happy hour is Monday thru friday with some good specials: $3 tall bud light drafts & miller high life cans, $4 well drinks and margaritas, and i think $5 glasses of wine. Appetizer specials are cheap, but half orders, so not sure how much of a deal you're getting. I went with the high life ( i know- super classy) and my companion got a margarita, rocks with salt. We were both impressed with the size of her drink, and it apparently packed a punch (though she's definitely a lightweight). The menu is a mix of italian-american and American. Typical appetizers (nachos, wings, and the like) mix with burgers, salads, entrees, and pastas. Featured that night were raspberry-lime wings, which sounded intriguing, but i was kind of winged out, so we went with artichoke dip and the happy hour (1/2 portion) bocce balls. Note that i said artichoke dip, and not spinach and artichoke dip- just artichokes. This was disappointing because it was canned artichoke tang on top of cream cheese tang, lacking any kind of vegetal quality. It was definitely rich, but too sour and not enjoyable. The pita chips, however, with a thing of beauty. They were clearly fresh-fried and still had a toothsome quality. Now- the bocce balls were on the opposite end of the spectrum. They're described as fried dough balls stuffed with meat, and these were super successful. I had imagined the dough to be of a more, like, carnival-type fried dough variety, but these were clearly more substantial, i think made with pizza dough. The dough was crisp on the outside, providing the perfect barrier for the savory, flavorful filling (it tasted like beef mixed with sausage). The tomato sauce was hearty and had good depth of flavor. I would highly recommend this appetizer. Considering the rest of the menu was sort of banal, we did decide to head elsewhere (review to follow, of course). Our service was just eh. The bartender never introduced himself, threw some boxes around (seriously- loudly threw boxes), and i had to lean over the bar to get his attention so we could pay the bill. Also, listening to him recite the happy hour offerings 3 times to 3 separate groups of guests was annoying- get happy hour menus, management! It's too bad, because i feel like this place has potential, but i won't drive 40 minutes for generally average food and service. Hope the rest of you yelpers have a better experience when you visit to try the bocce balls (because those were really good). read more

SUPER PRICEY for a bar. If you go with one other person order drinks and food plan on spending $50+.... Food is delicious though! Waitstaff is very friendly and this is the only place (that I know of) that is open in the valley every day past midnight, which is AWESOME, considering I work late every night. I've only had the lime bar once so I'm not the best judge but whatever...I'm writing a review. Overall, it was ok. The burger is not as good as a five guys or counter burger. (Counter is a restaurant in Blueback square by the way). I like my burgers medium and it was cooked properly but it has that heavy char on the outside that i did not like. I mean the fries were ok and overall it was just an average burger. My brother raved about his burger (I think he got one with pulled pork on it) so hey who knows. Anyways, Lime Bar is worth a shot but I personally prefer burgers from other joints. read more

Stopped in on a Sunday afternoon. Light traffic for the place.. Ordered the Taco salad and steak and cheese. Per the photos, I think that a little more could be done with both. The taco salad was pretty bla along with the steak and cheese. This is a mediocre at best grinder and will not find myself ordering it again. They kick butt on burgers but both of these specific dishes were nothing to write home about. read more

I came here after hiking Heublein Tower and I have to say this place really surprised me. I wasn't expected a whole lot. Started with the chicken Tacos and they were spot on, dripping with flavor. You would be surprised how many bland tacos Ive come across. Next we tried the Heublein salad. after all we just hike Heublein so why not keep the theme going right?. Now Im not much of a salad girl, so it's gotta be something ridiculously good for me to consider eating it again over something with more of a chew factor. Decent selection of beers on tap and the menu isn't bad either. The outside area is pretty nice, they've got a sweet fire pit and plenty of seats. The only downer is that the bar tenders pretty much ignore you at bar. Everytime I come in even when there are open seats at the bar they don't pay attention to new customers, let alone make eye contact with you. Was handed a menu and it took a while for the guy to come back and asked what I wanted. Not sure why they'd not be quick to someone who's gonna buy food, which brings up the tip. Left my card their that night, came back the next morning to find they ran the card through already and didn't have a receipt for me. So I have no idea what the total was and how much someone tipped them self, found that to be a little sketchy. Teaches me to bring cash out with me. Went for a quick drink after attending the Back East brewery yelp event, but after taking to the bartender and looking at the menu, we decided to try a few sandwiches. Both were amazing. The burger topped with pulled pork was very delicious. The fries were cooked perfectly. The blackened chicken sandwich was also very good. They have a perfect patio to sit on and have cocktails in the summer and fall. William is by far the best employee they have he always goes above and beyond for everyone. The chicken bites come with an array of options for sauces. Sunday football is usually pretty fun because they have Sunday ticket and you can watch any game you want. Being located in the edge of simsbury and right off of 44 and 10 makes it easy to get to on the way home every day also. Friendly service and very affordable pricing just makes the ambiance of this sports bar even better. read more

Went today for Boozy Brunch. Service was good and got a table right away. We both got the bottomless drinks and brunch entrees. I was excited to get the Captain Crunch French Toast (I've had it at other places). Well I was disappointed. The atmosphere well dim at best. No one greats you at the door, that's if you figure out which door you have to go in to. I highly doubt we will ever go back unless the get better cooks and servers. We had dinner and watched the game here last night. I loved the decor and layout of the dining room, it felt really comfortable and laid back almost like I was over someone's house. Our waitress Megan was fabulous, I could tell she was handling the dining area by herself and doing a great job. Very attentive and friendly. We went here a year ago and loved this place--but they have changed the menu. Now it is very limited and has basically burgers and sandwiches. It's still a great place to go for drinks and appetizers if you don't mind the wait, but eat dinner somewhere else. I ordered the fish n chips and asked for a salad. The fish batter was undercooked and pasty inside and the salad was limp and some of the tomatoes were spoiled. When I sent back the fish to ask it be cooked more, the waitress told me that is how it is cooked here. They did not even reduce our bill. There was no one to greet us at the door, leaving us uncertain where to go. Two other patrons brought their well behaved dogs, so that was different. The outside patio has a nice view of Heublein Tower and we liked the Bocce balls as an appetizer, but we're greatly disappointed with dinner. read more

Had a gross meal here...ordered their gyro steak meal, there were huge pieces of fat & gristle in the sandwich. One big bite turned-out to be nothing a but a big mouthful of fat, gristle, & bread. I was with friends, so I tried to chew it anyway, but it was so disgusting, I had to find a way to spit it into a napkin. Bartender actually argued with me, trying to charge me for a drink I never ordered. Nobody told us about the specials and when I saw something I liked while paying, I asked why.
