    Cozy interior.

Arrived in a state of zombieness and ordered a cup of Mad Bean's Secret Society coffee and some breakfast. Great scrambled eggs and breakfast wrap. Left far more awake with a happy belly. Definitely a gem in downtown Madison.

Such a lovely coffee shop. I wasn't expecting the opportunity to shop as well. All the local vendors were so much fun to look at. I ordered a large, iced, butterscotch latte. They have the amazing small crunchy ice! It wasn't as sweet as I prefer but it was still good. What sold me over all was the ambiance and design of the shop. It was super cute and cozy.

This place is great! I got a caramel macchiato which was the perfect balance of flavor and sweetnesss. Can't wait to see the renovations! (I also really like the coffee sleeves on the cups!)

Great coffee house that serves fantastic sandwiches, soups (fall & winter) and salads (summer). I'm not a coffee drinker, but they have great southern sweet tea with real sugar. Frappes, smoothies and of course all types of hot and cold coffees and teas.

First time here. Loooved the chicken salad wrap. I love one with grapes and pickles. Good flavor. If you hate onions maybe don't get it but if you like them go for it. My friend got the pimento cheese quesadilla and it was very good. Both served with chips. Prices are great. Didn't get the coffee but also looked good. They also had canned goods and paper goods to sell... maybe because of the Covid times? Will def come back when visiting my friend! Hidden gem that seems out of place here. Would imagine this place in Winston, Durham, or Asheville.

Iced Cuban latte 1/2 sugar. So yummy! Thanks!

Great coffee! Wide selection and the barista said she could most likely make any sort of coffee we were thinking of. Love it here.

It's a small space - a few tables inside and a few tables out - but don't let that or the line you are likely to encounter deter you. They crank out sandwiches quickly here. Said sandwiches include about two dozen hot and cold offerings as well as the ability to build your own. The meats are Boar's Head, but the desserts and soups are made fresh in-house. Check out the display case for salads and sides that might catch your eye. O'Brien's prides itself on its Reuben, and so I went with the "mini" version (a quarter rather than a half pound of meat) with a pickle for my first visit here. Ordering at the register was a breeze, and I was fortunate enough to snag one of the tables for dine-in. Though I was a bit skeptical that the Reuben would match the hype, it delivered. I don't know that it is without a doubt the best version I've had, but it is definitely up there. The grilled rye was nice and crisp, and I appreciated that they used both mustard and Russian dressing. That, plus the meat, kraut, and melty cheese, made for a very satisfying bite. At $10, the sandwich proved a good value, too. Unpretentious and nostalgically comforting (for Northern transplants, at least), O'Brien's is a well-oiled sandwich-slinging machine. Though that Reuben will be hard to top, I look forward to giving one of their other offerings (maybe a Cuban, maybe a Spicy Italian) a try.

Everything is made there, with sandwiches made to order. Try the Firecracker! The soups are also fantastic. The only downsides are the size of the place (small) and the wait time because the place is so popular. Inside and outside dining. They have indoor and outdoor seating, both of which was full. Often times I walk into restaurants where I'm the only person who doesn't speak the language; here I was clearly the only non-Appalachian person in sight. They offered a veggie burger based on black beans, for which I got more beans as a side. The burger didn't hold together well and made a bit of a mess, but this was ultimately solvable. The accoutrements added to make a dynamic flavor, so I wasn't too disappointed. Their pinto beans came with onions and chow chow, which again elevated the flavor. I appreciated the opportunity to order an apple cider in season. The ability to get fresh and vegetarian-friendly food in this area is valuable. It's not fancy, but it is fresh.

I always order the fluffy on GF with no cheese, and he always orders the Italian on GF with no cheese. There is cross contamination, so if you are celiac, you can ask them to change gloves, use a clean knife, and keep your sandwich away from the others. We have almost never received the correct order without cheese the first time, but they don't make a fuss when asked to remake the sandwiches, and they are very apologetic. These sandwiches are generous with the meat and other fillings, and the pizza-crust-as-bread works so well. We also get their delicious potato salad with our sandwiches. The seating area is not huge, maybe ten tables, but we've never had to wait for one, and we often take our order to go. The restaurant is clean, and parking is fairly convenient. Even with the issue of having to remake sandwiches, I still rate Blake's a solid five star. It's consistently delicious, and I like supporting a small business in my home community.
