Love this place. But if a lot of your meals are breakfast why don't you have the shearers hash browns? There is two cents of advise.

I came in with a few friends on a Friday night. It was around 6pm, quite busy. Surprisingly we got a table very quickly. This place is a typical country/home style place. It's basic, crowded, and serves homestyle food. They have breakfast all day, and I've had it a few times. Good stuff. We were waited on by Riley, a funny and available girl who is great at her job. Made everyone feel welcome. I ordered the Friday night flounder special. Two large pieces of fried flounder and hush puppies and slaw. The slaw was meh, cut too small for me. The hush puppies are pretty good. The flounder was decent but could have used some seasoning. I had some tarter sauce which helped. Overall, pretty good food and great service. I adore this place. It feels like home. It has the small town charm with the friendly wait staff and the best food in king. I have never ever left here unhappy or had a bad plate of food. What a nice experience we had at this restaurant today. When you enter there is a counter with display cases full of great looking desserts that folks can purchase without having to go inside. Once inside there was a sign directing us to please seat ourselves. We turned to the right and went down a very narrow aisle which would not accommodate a wheelchair but had we continued going straight, the aisle would certainly accommodate wheelchairs and walkers. We were promptly greeted by a very sweet waitress who offered several good menu suggestions. Although we arrived mid afternoon they were still serving breakfast items. Our food came after a short wait. We both enjoyed our food and will certainly plan to eat there again. The wall murals reflected the local farming community and I thought they were very nice. Although the restroom was very small, it was very clean. I'm not sure how difficult it would be for a very large lady or someone who is handicapped to access the restroom, but it's worth noting for those folks who would have that concern. read more

I just had to stop by for a "quick" bite. I started off with the oh-so-healthy loaded potato skins - because nothing says light snack like a pile of cheese and bacon. And of course, I couldn't resist the homemade potato chips, because who needs a salad, right? I decided to indulge in the triple-decker heart attack sandwich with extra mayo and mustard, because why not add more calories to the mix? If you like country what cooking, this is the place! There's always a line, but never much wait. They turn tables quickly. Service is fast and friendly. The food is perfect. Serving sizes are ample. And they love it when you share.. We've been here many times, with never a disappointment. Tonight it was pot roast - super tender and flavorful. Great choice of sides and desserts. We opted for Cherry Cobbler with homemade ice cream. Delicious. Their house made salad dressings are awesome. Thousand Islands, Ranch, and Greek. They have others, but these are amazing. My family and I have eaten here several times, and it's not bad but it's not great either. We ate dinner here tonight and my food was pretty good this time and the waitress we had was nice, up until I asked to pay for an older man's meatloaf. Let me add, they charge $9 for a slice of meatloaf with no sides! Insane. (Go to John Brown's their's is way better and wayyy better priced.) See, this older gentleman had ordered the country style steak. I over heard him tell his waitress that it wasn't good, he couldn't eat it. He asked if he could have a piece of meatloaf instead. His waitress told him that he would have to pay for the css AND his piece of meatloaf. He asked to speak with a manager, who never showed his face to that table. Sorry, not sorry. This is all kinds of wrong!! Never have I ever been to a place where the manager didn't come to the table OR at least try to switch out something, just make things right. The older man didn't eat half of his plate and then complain, he tried the steak and it wasn't for him. The waitresses were so very rude and loud about the situation, even though they had gone back into the kitchen where the manager was hiding. We left feeling sorry for the man and mad that the way things were handled. Won't be back. This was my first time at this local joint. The menu offered appetizers, salads, burgers, pastas, home cooked meals and breakfast all day. I got the chicken and dumplings. The dumplings were perfectly proportioned and the gravy not too salty. I also got corn and okra which was also yummy! The staff was super kind and always made sure our drinks were topped off. The portion size was large so I had to get a Togo plate but my meal with tip was only $14 bucks! Great deal! read more

Found a hair in my food so they said I didn't have to pay for the entree, then charged me for it anyways. when I brought it up the waitress acted like she didn't know what I was talking about. But what really upset me was how "flirty" the waitress was with my husband. It wasn't just one of them either, another waitress (who was not even attending to us) came up being inappropriate as well. I have been eating at king kitchen for about 12 years. King kitchen has the best food in king. From all day breakfast to burgers and seafood. I have never had a bad meal. This little place fills up fast but it is worth the wait. Service is always right on time. read more

My husband and I visited King Kitchen on a trip to see our grandparents, as its one of their favorite breakfast restaurants. Even on a random Tuesday, the parking lot was packed, but we were seated immediately and our server brought menus and took our drink orders. For my meal, I had the two egg breakfast with a biscuit and one side. I'm not a big potato person, and I didn't want grits or oatmeal. Thankfully, our server said it was okay to substitute a lunch side, and I got the candied yams. I ordered my eggs over easy, and the biscuit was HUGE and stole the show. The yams had very little flavor, and I wouldn't order them again. My husband and grandma both had omelets and enjoyed them. The omelets have a few toppings on the top, which is a nifty way to let servers know which omelet is which. Portions are hearty, with breakfast served all day. The only drawback of the restaurant is the bathroom situation. I'm not sure how the bathroom has two stalls. King Kitchen remodeled a few years ago, but the bathrooms were not expanded because of the wall murals. The ladies room reminded me of an airplane, especially the compact sink. The small town of King doesn't have many breakfast options, but King Kitchen is a solid one. We will likely return here the next time we visit the grandparents. read more

The wait staff was unbelievable not professional we spent $36 bucks on this terrible meal and about half hour we were both sick and it's becoming the worst restaurant in the area and what a shame it used to be to be top notch. We went for dinner tonight and it was beyond my expectations. I had the chicken stew which was fantastic. My husband had the Moravian chicken pot pie which was Just one of the specials available. It was like a religious experience. I seriously have not had better Moravian chicken pot pie! We had the Apple cobbler for dessert with ice cream. We stopped by for another visit today, it's been a little over a year. We were not disappointed. We were greeted by friendly staff, and received our drinks right away. The food was absolutely amazing, delicious, and a word I have never used in a review until now "perfect"! We got a two egg breakfast with bacon and hash browns. Those potatoes were the best we have had in a very long time. We also had to get the French toast again with crispy bacon. How in the world they got that French toast battered and cooked like that is a mouth watering mystery. The bacon was amazing. Our waitress checked on us and refilled our drinks. Who could ask for better food or better service. This small restaurant is very clean and well lit. Sure wish this place was closer to us. This place is hit or miss. Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's below average. I used to love getting their ribeye steak sandwich or steak and eggs for breakfast. Sometime after the pandemic, they removed all steak from the menu. I then took a liking to their popcorn chicken. Unfortunately, last nights experience has drove me away for good. After waiting 15 minutes for a table, we sat for an hour waiting for our food. No big deal, it was a busy Friday night. Annoying, yes, but understandable. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich. It was pretty good. I also ordered a chefs salad. The salad was ruined by a bad batch of ranch dressing. It literally tasted like mayonnaise. The coffee tasted like vinegar. My wife ordered the hamburger steak. It was acceptable, but overcooked and dry. My daughter loves King Kitchen burgers. She has always ordered it over the many years we have lived in the area. However, the burger she received was much smaller than usual. It was paper thin. This is when we called over someone for a complaint. The owner of King Kitchen refused a refund for the burger and said "don't ever order the burger again". We were told that McDonalds has a good burger/nugget deal for 5 dollars. We found this very rude. The gentleman with glasses that seated us gave us a tip that I will share with you all. He said the owner refuses refunds unless there is a hair in the food. Keep that in mind if you have an unsatisfactory visit here. The server was amazing. She didn't charge us for drinks and apologized. It wasn't her fault. We tipped her 30%. Sadly we have decided to never eat here again because of the rude owner. Over the years, we have eaten there 50-100 times. I would say the meals were above average only half of the time. read more

Frequently eat here and usually no complaints. 3/28/24 I got a Philly cheesesteak sandwich and I've ate this a million times from here but it was extremely dry as far as the beef goes to where I couldn't eat it and it looked and tasted like steak em. I also got the cheese fries and they always have cheese and bacon but this time it was only cheese on them. My mom got a chicken teriyaki sandwich and she didn't eat it either as it was rather dry as well and the grilled onions and pineapple was not good as whatever it was marinated in was not good she said. The side of chips was stale and cold. I did taste them and they were not fresh. The meal was at best halfway edible. Giving a 3 as we eat here often and it's usually very good. read more

This restaurant will be crowded. There's no question as they serve breakfast all the time. Plus it a good local place to eat. It's not loud but the seating is tight so you can hear other people's conversation. But it's not an uncomfortable feeling. Our server was very nice. She have us enough time to order. Her service was above very good. I had the bacon omelette and it was cooked the way I liked it. I had the chunky home fries and they were good. You need a sauce to go with it as it's a potato and I don't like ketchup. If they had shredded I would have been in heaven. They also had a crunchy French toast. Cooked French toast dipped in Frosted Flakes. I almost didn't think I could try it without ordering a full meal. Nope! You could order by the slice. Next time I'm getting the full order. I decided to try King Kitchen after hearing many good reviews from people I know. They have a wide variety of menu options. I got the popcorn shrimp, greens, and mac&cheese for takeout. The customer service was excellent! Probably the only excellent thing about King Kitchen. The popcorn shrimp was very flavorful but pretty mushy and overcooked. The mac&cheese had absolutely no flavor. Never have I ever known anyone in the south to mess up mac&cheese, but here we are! The greens and hush puppies were good, but all in all the meal wasn't all that I had hoped. read more

Food is excellent! However the owner was a bit rude. I sat down and was told I couldn't save tables when my family was trying to get through the people waiting at the front door. THEN after we cleared that up... we were ask to wear our mask ... which we all did!! Except for the baby!
