You can tell everything is made with quality ingredients, from the perfectly seasoned and tender meat to the crisp veggies and warm, soft pita. Nothing tasted reheated or dry -- everything came out hot and flavorful. The portions are solid and the flavors are on point. The rice was fluffy, the kabobs were juicy, and the sauces tied everything together perfectly. On top of that, the service was excellent. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and made sure everything was right. You can feel that they care about the food and the customers. My mom and I came to Don Kebab with family around 7:10 PM and spent almost $120 for 5 plates, fully understanding they closed at 8:00 PM. We waited nearly 30 minutes for our food with no communication about the delay, and despite us sitting down intending to dine in, our food was handed to us packed to-go without asking. An employee came up and asked us to leave around 7:44 as he handed us our food, so they could start cleaning, while other customers were still sitting and eating without being told anything. The whole situation felt awkward and unprofessional, especially considering the amount of time and money we spent there that evening. We completely understand restaurants needing to close on time, but better communication and consistency with customers would've made the experience much more respectful. read more

I went back and forth between 2 and 3 stars and settled on the lesser. Stopped in for dinner around 6pm. Waited at the counter for 5 minutes before someone took our order. They were extremely busy dealing with pick up orders. Understandable. The restaurant was HOT! Considering it was about 90 degrees outside you would hope the place would at least have a fan. The meat is good quality, though it was a little overcooked during my visit. The overall flavor was excellent, but the chicken was a bit dry for my taste. Considering that I was in town from the Bay Area for an event, my buddies from around town had me try this place out. I ask myself, why does Yelp only have 5 stars? This place can rock 10 stars honestly. Food comes out piping hot, personally I ordered beef and it was so juicy that I wanted to take some back with me to SF. I knew about The Don Kabob in Victorville before it even opened its doors. I just have not gotten to checking them out until today. I was so excited as I love Mediterranean foods. Unfortunately, it wasn't a very great eating experience. I arrived about an hour plus before closing time. They weren't busy at all. It has very colorful interior with lots of seating. Some outside seating available as well. They have one of those fancy soda machines. They have restrooms for customer use only. I knew exactly what I wanted to try which were the Chicken Kabob Plate and Falafel Plate. I ordered them to-go. The lady who took my order was very friendly and nice. Thank you miss! Fyi, their menu is on the left side upon entry. Just a tip, you should review the menu first and once you know what you want, then walk up to the counter and order. Otherwise, you'll be turning your head and squinting your eyes to look at the menu like I did. Or you can take a photo of the menu to have it on hand when ordering. Btw, they don't have the menu at the counter. The wait time was about 15 mins which wasn't too bad. I didn't check my order before leaving the restaurant and I should have. My boo boo... After I got home and opened my Chicken Kabob Plate, I was like... why is the chicken kabob meat flat? This is NOT chicken kabob! It looks more like chicken shawarma that was repurposed to be chicken kabob. They didn't do a very good job because chicken kabobs are chunks not flat. This is very UNACCEPTABLE! I paid good money for chicken kabob, I should get what I paid for... the real chicken kabob! In addition to it not being in its true form, chicken was super super dry. I had to stop eating it. Hence, 1 star! Btw, flavor was just okay. Anyway, rice was in a dark orange color which I'm not used to seeing for Mediterranean yellow rice. It tasted okay and could have been fluffier. Now on the bright side, the falafel, hummus, Arabian salad + turnip pickles, and pita bread were very good. Quite tasty! Will I come back you ask? I would have if they stayed true to serving the foods that their customers ordered. I feel they fell way short in this area. So verdict is a big fat NO... I will not be back unfortunately. I really wanted to try their other food items, but they have lost a customer for life. Businesses that don't do right do not get my patronage and support going forward. If it is an honest mistake, then fine, but if it is intentional to serve something that the customer did not order for whatever reason, then it's not fine. Good, well-priced, fast-casual Mediterranean food. The place is clean, service is quick, and you get a good amount of food for what you pay. I got the chicken kabob. The chicken itself was okay, but it was definitely far from high-quality. It was a bit dry, but it had decent flavor and char from the grill. There were plenty of kabob pieces, plus a solid serving of rice underneath. And you get a sizable piece of pita on your plate as well. My guess is that the shawarma is better than the kabob. The shawarma looked fresher and juicier. Still, this is a good spot if you're passing through Victorville and need a filling and healthy option. I'd come back and try the shawarma. read more

We were in the area visiting and wanted to grab dinner that we could bring back to our hotel room. Upon walking in, there was a decent crowd so I felt good about my choice. The menu on the wall didn't have everything I had seen on the online menu so I went with what I saw on their online menu and ordered the juiciest Egyptian kabob plate and the Shawafel plate (beef). The plates both came with hummus, half a pita, rice and salad with pickled veggies. The food was hit and fresh and insanely delicious. This was easily some of the best food I have had in a while. My husband and I were disappointed only in the fact that we don't have anything this good in Seattle. His beef kabob was absolutely juicy. I didn't think it would be but my gawd, it was moist and full of flavor. My plate came with half falafel and half beef sharma. All though the beef was in small pieces it was still a punch of flavor bites and pretty tender. The pickled salad that came with the plate was the perfect accompaniment for my hummus and falafel. The hummus was smooth and creamy too. The beef samosa had a flaky crust with delicious filling. The creamy garlic sauce was served on the side and added a nice tang to the samosa. Not pictured but also ordered a large baba ghanouge with a side of pita and holy moly! It was some of the best I have had in a long time. The roasted eggplant came through but was highlighted by the other flavors in the dip and was perfect in every bite. I wanted to bring home a whole tub with me. It is a lot of food for the price too. Definitely a great value. Neither of us finished our food and warmed it up for breakfast the next day. It reheated well and was just as delicious. Messed up both of my online orders, didn't give my side that I paid extra for, and charged me extra for meat that they didn't give. I ordered 2 mixed grill salad bowls which comes with 3 different meats - steak chicken and beef kofta. For one bowl I asked to replace the chicken with steak and paid an extra substitution fee. They ended up giving me one bowl with only chicken and one bowl with only steak. How is this a mixed grill bowl? Mind you the chicken only and steak only bowls are cheaper. It's really upsetting when a Kabob restaurant advertises Beef Kabob made with Filet Mignon. This place uses a low grade sirloin steak which I threw away because I couldn't chew it.. If I would've known I would've ordered the chicken. Change your menu to tough sirloin so your customers don't order it thinking it's really Filet mignon. The Ambiance wasn't anything special. Not sure if that was intended but it overpowered the flavor of the steak. We were coming back home and found this halal place. It was so good and it tasted like back home. We got the shawarma wrap which had French fries inside, beef platter, and baklava. The baklava is so flavorful and has honey on the bottom that it takes you back home. There could have been more meat in the plate and wrap or even some spices. Overall the owner at the front was nice he was fast and brought the food to us. The ambiance is super nice because there are paintings on the wall. I just wish they had chai or tea or something. I enjoyed the chicken kabob plate with salad in lieu of rice and my husband had the beef shawarma pita a fries. We both really liked what we ordered - tasty, large portions, and good quality. The housemade hummus was so good that I bought a to-go container. Shout out to Eddie who was helpful and attentive. I will start by saying that the vast majority of food up in the desert is not cooked from scratch and it's hardly made for excellent flavor. 95% of the stuff is pushed out of kitchens without enthusiasm and you can taste the lack of care and passion. This place feels very different. It feels like you're going there to experience that food culture and to enjoy the moment. Excellent service and the host/owner was extremely kind and welcoming. When you enter there is a big board of 3 TV's for the menu and you have to get close to be able to see. That's right next to the kitchen and I can only imagine the wonderful aroma on a busy day. We walked in on the middle of a Tuesday and it wasn't busy. We looked at the menu, decided on the food, and anxiously awaiting what I know is some very delicious food cuisine. I wanted to see the spinning shawarma roasting, but I didn't see that. I didn't try to look, honestly. If it was up front and center or you could see the grill going then I can only imagine how it would excite the senses! Either way. We sat down and waited for the food. I was expecting hummus with my plate, but I was so pleasantly surprised with the garlic-yogurt sauce (I forget the name) but it was out of this world good. I left the restaurant and on the drive home was explaining how fresh garlic is just food for the soul. The chicken was seasoned well. Great flavor and tasted like it should. The sear on it was and added depth that I hadn't had from other places and it was very good to have. The pita was very unique and great as well. I just wish I had another one! I think my favorite thing besides all of that was just the general feel of the meal and eating in that place with this food. We had a variety of dishes, the color of the rice was part of the mood. It set a tone. The tahini sauce on the falafel was nearly as good as the garlic yogurt sauce. I just can't wait to go back. One of my favorites in the high desert! It's expensive but I can usually get two meals out of the chicken kabob plate, so that offsets things a bit. Their menu is wide, but I stick with what I know/like, so I'll just rave about the perfectly seasoned chicken kabob, amazing rice, phenomenal hummus, and delicious, warm pita bread! The little side salad is great, too, with fresh veggies and full of flavor. The HD is lucky to have this place! We like both locations, in Hesperia & Apple Valley, as the food is consistently good. Exquisite flavors! We had the falafel plate. I've had many a falafel and it's always a hit or miss, but this one is definitely different. It's an Egyptian Mediterranean style: Very unique recipe, very tasty. The rice was a-whole-nother level of aromatic flavors. The hummus and Tahini were just ok, not bad, but since those are what I look forward to when dining Mediterranean, it was kinda disappointing. BUT, the vegan garlic sauce made up for them both. More like a dine in fast-food vibe but the Egyptian music added to to the authenticity of the experience, (if you like Middle-Eastern music like I do). It is a little pricey but hands down the best Mediterranean food in the HD (that I've tried), and there are not too many to choose from out here. The portions are sized to satisfaction though. We'll be eating leftovers for dinner. Out of ALL the Mediterranean restaurants that i've tried, and i've tried quite a few, overall, I give the food a 9/10. read more

Our food was carefully prepared, and absolutely delicious. Hubby has Egyptian roots so the different spices used weren't a huge shock, but I could see someone being a-little unsure at first. Was surprising to see the overall rating and positive reviews for this place, it fooled me. Overall, we found the food fair at best. On the positive side, the hummus and garlic sauce were pretty decent but the chicken and beef Shawarma was a poor excuse for Shawarma, they didn't even carve it off of the spit, just cooked it on the grill, kinda tasted stewed and not the traditional flame cooked Shawarma, lame flavoring. The entire restaurant experience was just plain old amateur and not real kebab food especially for the higher prices.
