Recently, I was in town for my kid's graduation. As a proud father I stayed in town all weekend to hang out. On the first night, I ended up at Hen House. It was so great that we went back every night we were in town. Before getting into the particulars of the experience, I would be remiss to not mention the ladies who made our three visits here truly spectacular. First off, Ashlynn. What a wonderful server and downright great person who is fun to be around and really made us feel welcome. Next, Gabi. She is an excellent bartender who knows what she is doing behind the bar. She made the best cocktails and was friendly, and welcoming too. Finally, Laiken. Another fantastic server who put up with our nonsense and made sure we got whatever we needed. I have no idea who runs and owns The Hen House, but these ladies should be cherished. Your place is great but they made it spectacular. Now back to the regular review. Fancy cocktails? Check. If you are a little (or a lot) bougie, you will find your cocktail here. Fancy glasses (so fancy we found some online and bought them), fancy ingredients, and charming presentation are the name of the game. The taste even matches the presentation. What else could you ask for? For starters, something other than a fancy cocktail. They have that too. Several solid, local drafts and a great selection of Bourbon. Need food to help soak up the drinks? They have that too. Everything we tried was great but I strongly recommend the charcuterie and anything pimento cheese. The eggs are also pretty darn good. In closing, just go here. It is great. Anytime I am in Hattiesburg, I will surely be here. I only regret that I found it as my kid graduated. There's always hope the next kid will come here. I really hate leaving bad reviews, but this place has so much potential. all it needs is a good renovation. I would say even putting in $1000 to replace all of the bar chairs would do a huge difference. Don't expect to come into a nice cool area either because air-conditioning is nonexistent. We planned on eating there, but after the discomfort we got up and left, their menu actually did look very good.
