I was a loyal customer of Magic Maids for many years. I recently moved and wanted to bring Magic Maids along to clean my new home. I scheduled them to come out twice a month. About two weeks ago, one of the workers accidentally broke my $380 marble table. The worker that broke the table was extremely apologetic and very worried how Her boss, Carolina Avila would react to it. I told her that I know accidents happen and I appreciate her honesty. I discussed with her that I would speak with the owner, Carolina Avila regarding replacing or paying for the broken item. On Yelp, the company states it was bonded and insured , so I figured they could easily pay me back for the broken table. Once I spoke with Carolina, I made sure to mention that I absolutely adored the cleaning service and ladies that have been cleaning my home for years. As a refund, I suggested that they could refund me the total of $380, OR they could deduct the amount from what I normally would pay for their service, which was $350 per clean. So Carolina deducted the $350 then paid me the remaining balance via Venmo. The conclusion of our conversation was pleasant and nice. Fast forward two weeks later, I received an email the night before they were supposed to clean, saying that They are no longer providing their service to me. I was very stunned at the email, it was very unprofessional to drop me as a client when they are the ones that broke my table. Not only that, I called them multiple times and they have not responded to my phone calls or emails. They act like they are the victims, when I've been nothing but respectful and nice. Carolina Avila and her husband are punks who hire undocumented immigrants and pay them very little. I know this as fact because their workers have told me, and that's why I always tipped them WELL in cash. If you are reading this, do not hire these people. I have the personal phone numbers of their best working employees, and I would hire them ...... not MAGIC MAIDS --- this is in response to Carolina who responded to my initial review, since all she cares about is Yelp reviews and not responding to phone calls or emails. When Mayra broke the table, she initially said she would pay for it and it would take about three months. I told her that she didn't have to pay for the table, because the company she worked for was bonded and insured, so they could file a claim and get the money back without withholding their pay. She said "ok" . Toward the end of the cleaning, I saw her taking the table outside , I asked her what was she doing, and she said she was taking the table, said Carolina's husband was going to fix it. If you look at the photos, the marble was completely broken, there was no way to fix a broken marble top. So I told her don't worry about it because I could buy another one. So the claims of her being uncomfortable or me being mean are just totally false, I've bought Mayra Christmas gifts and tipped them well in the past. This incident I wasn't even upset about the table, I just wanted the total cost of the table to be replaced because it was a newer piece of furniture. As a business owner, YOU should have called me and apologized for the inconvenience, I shouldn't have had to call you multiple times and text you multiple times to receive a response from you. But once again, this shows you her character. I do not believe the cleaning ladies said they didn't feel comfortable in my home, I don't believe that claim you're making, because in all actuality they said that you (Carolina) sometimes withhold money from them, and don't give them their tips that other clients give to them. I have also encouraged the ladies to start their own business so they can cut you out of their pay. If you read all the negative reviews on Magic Maids, you can see Carolina attacking her customers, instead of taking ownership of the mistakes they have made, she is a very bad business woman. Once again, to anyone reading this, PLEASE DONT USE MAGIC MAIDS BECAUSE THE OWNER, CAROLINA DOES BAD BUSINESS AND ONLY CARES ABOUT YELP REVIEWS. What they were able to do in 2 hours to my apartment, which is filled to the brim with furniture, is amazing. I didn't realize they would also organize little messes I wasn't able to pick up before they came. My dresser with coins and random stuff...my desk, my bathroom...everything nice and organized. Also got a major stain out of my kitchen table I gave up on years ago. And somehow removed stains from my stovetop I put countless hours of elbow geese into. The quality of cleaning was ok but they showed up 2 hours later than the scheduled time. I ordered 2 cleaners for 1 hour because It was a small job. Actually 3 people showed up and I was forced to pay more than quoted. Communication is not nice. Personally, I will not use them again. read more

Originally I loved this company. I had them come the first time, it was Martha and some man. They did great, but my place was small and Martha did a much better job, so I felt it was only best if SHE came by herself the next time because her detail was more spot on than the other man. I told Carolina (the owner) and she said ok. She then sent Martha by herself the next time. Great. The 3rd time, she sent 2 Martha's. (My original Martha, and Carolina's mother in law, Martha.) Ok, whatever. Even tho I clearly explained that I only wanted the ONE Martha, for my small apartment. Tried to give her another chance, and called for a 4th time. She sent Martha and another man. AGAIN. After telling her I simply didn't need that many people in my apartment, nor did I want that many people, due to having a small child running around. I felt that Carolina simply wanted to get the job done quicker, and pay her employees less, so she could be "in and out" and on to the next. The 3rd time she sent girls over, Carolina came herself as well. During this time, she asked for payment before the service even started, then left. For what reason? I have no idea, but I'm assuming it was to go cash my check to go shopping etc. which I felt was unprofessional in every way possible. She did follow up to see if I wanted another service, however I decided to hire Martha privately (after she offered), because she wouldn't go against what I said, and would come by herself, rather than with a crew that was unnecessary. I cannot tell you how happy I am that I found Magic Maids. Really. Amazing. My husband is EXTREMELY picky about organization and cleaning. Have you seen the show "Flipping Out"? You know how insane Jeff Lewis is? Well, my husband's not quite that bad, but pretty close. We've used other services and every single time, after they leave, my husband spends the rest of the day re-organizing everything that they moved around and complaining about spots that they missed. It drives me (and him) nuts. And along came Magic Maids. The house gets CLEAN, they put everything in its proper place, and are always willing to correct anything if we need them to (we haven't needed them to...they're very thorough!). Starting to think the reviews here are less than authentic. I requested a "deep cleaning" after some remodeling we had done. But to our surprise, our contractor and his crew did a decent cleaning of their own the day before our appointment with Magic Maids. So, I figure this should be an easy job for Magic Maids. Uh, yeah. In my email to the owner (who did come by to see the house for an estimate) I asked for good detailed cleaning, removing dust from every nook and cranny and "windows included." The estimate came to $225 for a 1100 sq. ft home and 2 workers from 9 am to 1 pm. Well... the two that showed were nice, but missed the 3 very dusty on top ceiling fans, tops of windows, and, you guessed it, didn't touch the windows. The cleaning job was good for a standard job, but not a deep clean. We're bummed that we put windows in the email for estimate and didn't get them. When I asked the owner why they were overlooked the response was, "Fans they should do it windows no sorry" ...and that was it. Magic Maids has been cleaning my house every three weeks for about a year now and I can't tell you enough how EXTREMELY HAPPY I am with their service. I've tried others and none of them even come close to being compared to Magic Maids. I like my house to be cleaned a certain way and have a very hard time trusting others so I'm glad to have given Magic Maids a shot because they are amazing!! They were also highly recommended by some of my neighbors. I come home and not only is it freakishly clean (seriously, dust cannot hide from Magic Maids) but it smells fantastic (not bleachy...FRESH)...I LOVE IT! Bottom line, call Magic Maids because they are reliable, professional, and trustworthy. Just like another reviewer (Emma L.), I too feel totally safe leaving my dog while they clean. Look no further and just call them because they're the best! BTW, Carolina is the owner and in charge of managing the schedule. I had been thinking about getting some help with cleaning here and there for awhile, but wasn't sure about finding a person or service I trusted. I decided to give Magic Maids a call, based on the reviews here. I'm so glad I did! Carolina does all of the scheduling for the business, and who you will talk to when you call. She manages her aunt and uncle, who come to do the actual cleaning. They were wonderful. They did an incredible job, and they were super friendly (they speak Spanish and were very gracious with my terrible/rusty skills). I am a clean/neat freak who has a hard time trusting that others will get the house as clean as I would. They definitely did! Our place was so clean and smelled amazing when they were done. They got all kinds of little nooks and crannies that I don't always catch (they cleaned the inside of the dishwasher--stuff like that). Magic Maids, however, is one of the few businesses I've come across that provides fantastic service, but doesn't have the 2348739487 4/5-star reviews. I started using Magic Maids about 5 months ago solely for businesses purposes and I have not felt a need to find another company or even "explore my options." Their cleaning is exceptionally thorough and above all, their pricing is highly competitive. Since switching our service provider to Magic Maids, we haven't received any complaints from our clients, and more importantly from upper management. While I could continue extolling just how thorough and consistent their services are, the other reviews pretty much took the words right out of my mouth. The one thing I will say that wasn't, however, mentioned in the other reviews is that Carolina, the owner of Magic Maids, is extremely prompt in getting back to you. If you leave her a message, she WILL get back to you within the day, if not the hour. This may not seem like much, but if you run a business and scheduling is an integral part of your business, this is extremely important. Needless to say, when her employees are sent out to clean, they're fairly punctual. read more

I have been a client of Magic Maids Cleaning Service for over a year. They are my weekly cleaning service at my office. And I am a VERY happy client (thus being with them for over a year). In the past, I have gone through with many services. The normal routine is that the service is great the first couple of months and then everything declnes. But not with with Magic Maids. Carolina is so sweet and accommodating. And the ladies on her team are professional, super nice, efficient and consistent. I have recommended them to many people. They also clean my parents' home every month. My mom is about as critical as it gets when it comes to housekeeping and she loves Magic Maids. I highly recommend them!! read more

We had this maid service for awhile and they were pretty decent minus an incident damaging some furniture; however, we let it go bc accidents happen. The poor review is for a rude letter they left for us to pick up after our kids things. I contacted this company to a cleaning of my kitchen. They were supposed to show up today, Nov 7 at 8:45AM Nobody showed up. They don't answer the phone of respond to my messages. Stay away from this company. I changed my mind on this review. Due to lack of communication they did not show up when I thought they would. I've been using Magic Maids for more than half a year and I couldn't be happier with how well they clean. 2-4 maids come bi-weekly and spend between an hour and 2.5 hours depending on the number of them. Everytime they are smiling, courteous, and take the extra step if I ask them to focus on specific task. They really pay attention to details. They don't just clean around things, but take the effort to clean under objects and place them back the way they were found. Carolina and her crew have been cleaning our condo for about two years now. To be frank, we're very messy and we have pets. Nevertheless, our place is spotless every week (for a day). Staff is polite and helpful. They've been flexible with us when we've had to change dates/times at the last minute, and Carolina is accessible to us- which is greatly appreciated. My boyfriend asked me if I could watch his dogs while he was away for work and I agreed to help him out. The only problem was that I would be living in his space for 3 weeks. I stayed one night and realized I needed to have his whole place cleaned to feel comfortable for the following few weeks. I requested a cleaning from the magic maids and needed the appointment for early morning. They were able to schedule a 7am cleaning just days after making the request. I greeted the ladies and gave them simple instructions about what needed cleaning. I went out and walked the dogs to keep us out of their way. I was out for about an hour and had to leave for work. I put the dogs in a room and asked if they could let them out before leaving and asked if they could lock the house door on the way out. I got home at 6pm and walked into a fresh smelling, clean and neat environment! The floors were immaculate, the bathroom was shiny, and the kitchen felt brand new. I was in a much better space and felt more confident to be there for 3 weeks. I m breathing better air in the space and it feels more like my space than a man's space, yay! I usually use the magic maids for my personal space in Highland Park, I count on them for my kitchen, bathroom and dining area. The Magic Maids really are MAGIC! I called on Wed because I was working from home to see how their process worked, cost, etc. After I told them my situation (needed to clear a 220sq ft room above a garage and a 660 sq ft house before Saturday), Sofia told me the rates ($75/ 2 ppl/ per hour or $95/ 3ppl/ per hour) and said she could actually have 2 ladies come by that afternoon! I'd never had anyone come to my house to clean so I was apprehensive, but they immediately put me at ease. When Jessica and her partner came over, they were respectful, kind to my pets, polite and spoke English. They looked at both spaces and worked upstairs first. I had no idea how dirty it was till I saw how clean they made it 2.5hrs later. Since I still needed the house cleaned, we made an appt for Friday afternoon. The only reason this review is 4 and not 5 stars is that they were supposed to arrive at 2pm and I had to contact Sofia to find out where they were. Eventually we confirmed they would arrive by 3:15p. That was the only downside - since I had to leave work early to be there (and make sure my cats were ok with the vacuuming). But when they showed up- there were 3 of them- ready to do the work that I could have never done alone. It still took 3hrs, but boy! what a deal. I keep looking around now that they've been gone for 2 days and see something new shinning or sparkling. Chopsing a new maid service is difficult unless someone comes with a lot of references. This is one service that you want done right because you (and your family) will be living and breathing in that space after the service is delivered. We took a risk with magic maid because, first, Carolina is very friendly, easily accessible(more so on text), clear on deliverables, and cost, and was prompt. The best thing is, they come home, estimate ando a quote instead of picking random hours as an estimate over phone fixed without scoping the work. As good as it gets for me, for sure! I had used other services on-and-off in the past, and the reason why I could never "stick" to a service was mainly because I was never quite happy with the results, and after a few weeks, I'd go back to doing it myself, problem with this was I was never able to clean my whole house in one shot :(. I recently came across Carolina's "Magic Maids" post card at a local HP coffee shop, and wondered if I should give this another try. Happy to report I am SO glad I did!! I would have missed out on GREAT home cleaning! I have to admit, I came home the first time practically "looking" for the one thing that would make me unhappy ;), and was pleasantly surprised to find everything the way I like it (and then some). My daughter came to me and said what a wonderful job they had done cleaning her doll shelf :)... They dusted shelves packed with dolls? Really? I was sold on the very first visit, and couldn't wait for them to come back! I booked her every-other-week right away. Carolina, checks in to make sure I'm happy when I make a special request, and she's always just "a text away". Magic Maids was referred to me by my niece. I gave them a call to schedule a deep cleaning; after all, my niece's home is always neat and clean. Carolina was very cordial and promised she would return my call within a day or two to schedule. She did not call so I called her a few days later and we scheduled. I asked about cost and she said it depends upon the number of workers. Our next contact she informed me that a team of 3 were coming. On cleaning day, I learned from the workers that I would be charged by the hour for 3 people. The team cleaned very well but were rushing and told me they would not be able to complete everything I had requested because of time limitations. So I paid even more. A very expensive crystal vase was broken during the cleaning which has not been replaced nor have I been compensated for it. It has been 3 days since my house cleaning and Carolina promised to pick up the broken vase and try to replace it. I have not heard from Carolina since. Every day I discover something else that was rushed or simply overlooked. I am completely disappointed with this company's unprofessional and careless attitude and will NEVER use Magic Maids again.
