I have been a patient of Dr. Ingrid Schwarz at the Magnificent Smile for over 20 years. She and her colleagues, namely Karen and Shannon, her dental hygenists are the BEST. I moved to CA eight years ago and still return to the Magnificent Smile 2-3x per year because I will never find any dental practice as good. Everything from the cleanings to the customer service to the general professionalism is top-notch. Dr. Bill Frericks is the best dentist in Chicago, and his entire team is exceptional. Dr. Frericks has straightened my teeth with Invisalign, repaired a crack tooth, replaced fillings, and bonded chipped teeth--all to perfection. One way to gauge the character of a person is how they handle themselves during an emergency. I had an emergency once upon a time in 2009 and Dr. Frericks was there for me. My two front teeth (yes, the FRONT) were knocked out during a bicycle accident that sent me to the emergency room. I was literally a mess, my face, black, blue and completely bruised. After several hours at the hospital, they released me to go with a mouthful of gauze where my teeth used to be. The details are bloody, the picture, ugly. They said I should contact my dentist. Dr. Frericks literally SAVED MY SMILE. I knew I was in very capable and caring hands. He and his staff are amazing, wonderful, and truly the very best! read more

I don't normally write reviews but I had a great experience with this practice and Dr. Ganzman!! I chipped a tooth over the weekend and went to my normal dentist Tuesday morning and they were unable to do anything to repair the tooth and said I needed to be referred to a specialist for a root canal, crown or gum surgery due to the chip being close to my gum line. When I called the front desk was easy to schedule with and confirm they accepted my insurance. Dr. Ganzman was professional, kind and confident in her assessment that while it was close to the gum line, none of those things were remotely necessary and she could quickly repair it for me that day before I left to go out of town for the week! In 20 minutes she had put in a filling to repair the chipped tooth and I was on my way. I'll be back! read more

I have been a patient at The Magnificent Smile for many years and have always received excellent treatment. Not only with dental care but in dealing with appointments, insurance, payments and interactions. The staff is among the kindest and most professional of any professional services firm with which I have ever dealt. When it comes to fees, they simply will not nickel and dime. For example, some dentists might add charges for working on more than one side of a tooth no matter how small the portion of an additional side might be. I have never had that happen at The Magnificent Smile. Just recently, I needed a filling that turned out to be a rather extensive one for Dr. Irina Ganzman. She only charged for one simple filling even though the tooth had more than one cavity and even though she did more than just fill it, performing extra shaping and reinforcement to help support a crack in it. Dr. Ingrid Schwarz and Dr. Irina Ganzman and their support staff have provided superlative dental care whether with routine exams and cleaning or more significant issues such as crowns and appliances (I'm a night grinder with mild sleep apnea). The Magnificent Smile has ALWAYS stood behind their work and offered service beyond what might normally be expected. As an example, Dr. Schwarz and Dr. Ganzman have gone out of their way to adjust my sleep apnea device which was made (many years ago) by another dentist. They have both spent considerable time over the years adjusting it to changes in my teeth from new fillings, new bondings and a crown...and have never charged a cent for this service. Just recently Dr. Ganzman offered an alternative to the sleep apnea device that she thought might work better for me and told me why. She never pressured me to buy it but rather has continued with her attempts to make my existing one fit properly and work effectively including for the recent filling. For full disclosure purposes, I was asked to provide whatever positive comments I had for The Magnificent Smile on some form of social media. But the truth is that I should have done so much sooner. The Magnificent Smile/Dr Wm Frericks Relocated to Chicago late 2008. A few months later I realized my semiannual teeth cleaning slipped by me, & a friend referred me to Dr Frericks at The Magnificent Smile. Standard stuff is terrific. Jaime makes appointment scheduling "painless." They are busy, but if you have an urgent need she alerts you to cancellations & on one occasion just squeezed me into his packed day when I said "really need to see him." My hygienist, Karyn, is informative, efficient, & a sweetheart, which is nice because I spend almost entire time in a routine visit with her. Now, about the nonstandard stuff. An obsessive brusher/flosser, I have generally excellent dental health. In the year before becoming Frericks' patient I had the first serious dental issue of my adult life, an abscess resulting in root canal and crown. To make a long story slightly shorter, the original infection was never totally eradicated, and I had a few recurrences of discomfort, one on Dr F's watch as my dentist. I phoned from a Florida vacation with rapid onset pain so severe I was distracted from enjoying my daughter's company on Spring Break. I was in the chair moments after I landed at OHare. He treated the infection, made the pragmatic observation that this chronic problem was unlikely to abate and probably causing significant bone damage, and referred me to an oral surgeon (Neil Hagen is also AWESOME, but that's another yelp review) who removed the tooth, and confirmed I had "a big hole in there" which was not likely to have ever responded fully to antibiotics. I now approach the end of the process of getting an implant/crown. During the entire process I've been professionally treated, had the feeling that my care providers communicated with each other, and simply been made comfortable and confident. Dr Frericks has great chairside manner, answers any questions in as much depth as I want, is patient-focused, and simply a good human being. I'm kind of a freak about being informed and treated well by competent health care professionals of any discipline, and I think nothing of switching care providers to get that kind of care. As I relocate again, away from Chicago, I'm considering remaining a Magnificent Smile patient. They're just that good. read more

AMAZING. This is the best dentist I have EVER been to. I found out about them because Ashley (the best hygienist in the WORLD) was a client of mine at my old company. I was casually complaining about how difficult it is to find a great dentist and she said come on in and we'll take care of you. And they did! Every appointment was quick, easy and painless. I had a small cavity and Dr. Schwarz was so great. She did the whole thing without even numbing my mouth in under 15 minutes- PAIN FREE. And she's really funny and makes you feel super comfortable. I was new in town and needed a dentist. Someone told me to go here - just for a cleaning. I walk into the room, the hygienist looks terrible - ill. So I get in the chair, she puts on the gloves, leans me back - then starts coughing into the glove, nose is running, she wipes he nose with the same glove, then starts reaching for my mouth with the same gloves... I say no thank you, you are sick, I can't have you cleaning my teeth. I walk out to the receptionist, ask if there is a healthy hygienist who is available, there isn't, so I left. They really need to examine their policies. Will not return. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. William Frericks since 1985, and this was in response to a referral for a horrible job another dentist had performed on my teeth. After some time, those issues were corrected, and I have never looked back, and he has preserved as well as professionally corrected many of my other dental issues throughout 30 plus years. I have never had a problem since. Every one is great in the office, and very accommodating. Dr. Ganzman and her staff are awesome!! I am not one who normally feels compelled to write reviews, but everything about this dental office was first class. I had my first cleaning there this week and had a great experience. Jaime was so quick to answer any questions I had before my appointment. She was very friendly and helpful and gave me a good impression of the office right away! I ended up coming in 10 mins late for my appointment, but everyone was so nice and understanding about it. The office is very clean and everyone is friendly, so you feel at ease the moment you walk in. JoAnn was my hygienist, and I felt so comfortable during the cleaning! She was very friendly and explained everything she was doing during my X-rays and cleaning so that I could feel as comfortable as possible. She does a great job and gave me some good tips on how to deal with some difficult to reach teeth. Thank you JoAnn! Dr. Ganzman is awesome. She is really friendly and very conscientious! She sat down and talked to me about a concern I had worried about for a while and was very patient as I asked her a lot of questions about it. None of my prior dentists had ever expressed concern about the issue I brought up, but she explained to me in detail what the issue might be and things I could do to resolve it. I felt very comfortable talking to her and felt she cared about my concerns. I know I can trust her with my dental health going forward. I have been meaning to write a review about Dr. Schwarz and her excellent staff for years. She is is one of the best dentists I have ever seen, and I have experienced more than a few. I don't think too many patients can honestly describe their dentist as kind, funny, down-to-earth (I hate that word), and thorough. My boyfriend and I always joke about not wanting to tell the world about great businesses in fear of not being able to get in, but this practice truly deserves it. As a bit of background, I have had Invisalign with her, which went well, in addition to crown issues (her temps are gorgeous!), and one emergency. Bottom line: I do not ever dread dentist appointments here. Who can say that?? Extra bonus: they are right by Nordstrom and you can park in the Nordstrom garage at Rush and pay $13 for up to three hours and get your shopping thing on before/after (with Nordstrom $10 validation). Well, what should I start with? Our doctor Irina Ganzman is just amazing. It is so enjoyable to be her patient. She is knowledgeable, professional, friendly and always ready tp help. I and my husband have been her clients for 2 years and we feel so lucky to have her as our doctor. Recently, just a few days before my trip, I started having pain in my tooth and I scheduled a last-minute appointment with her. It turned out that I needed a root canal. Dr. Ganzamn called an endodontist and scheduled an appointment for me on the same day. After I had it done, she schedule an appointment with her for a filling a few days later. I scheduled an appointment after accidentally chipping my tooth a few weeks before my wedding and they were able to take me in the day after. I was very thankful of their flexibility with appointments as I've gone to some other dental clinics where they need at least a month's notice. I saw Dr. Irina V. Ganzman and she was able to bond my chipped tooth, and even smoothed out surrounding teeth to make everything look even. I came out looking better than even before I chipped my booth! She even went over pricing options with me before we started. Dr. Ganzman is so friendly and professional. After driving three hours to my childhood dentist for years, I decided to settle down and find a dentist in Chicago. I found one close to home and was scarred for life. I called my dentist and was referred to The Magnificent Smile. I see Dr. Frericks, he is a nice guy and got me in right away when I recently had a tooth issue. JoAnn (one of the dental hygienists) is absolutely amazing! She is kind and always does a great job cleaning my teeth. I always leave with that freshly polished teeth feeling!
