Stopped by mid week around 6, so just missed the Happy Hour specials. Secured a seat on their patio which was perfect as in the shade with a light breeze. Opted for the burger and fries with a Fat Tug (IPA). Burger, fries and the beer were all great. There was no issue with the service and this was a much more positive experience than my last visit several months previous.

One line review: decent portions, mildly seasoned. We went here on the recommendation of a friend who said they served the biggest burgers he had ever seen, that he couldn't believe people would eat something that size. Intrigued, we had to go. We ordered (for takeout): - American Burger (Only the bacon really stood out; the burger was a good portion but not well-seasoned. Produce was not much. Bun was better than average.) - Chicken burger (meaty and fried crispy, but not well-seasoned) - the fries (tasty and abundant -- best part of the meal) - coleslaw (glad to have it, but this was tiny and not well-seasoned) This was plenty of food. But it was just good enough -- not really good. Value was so-so. At this price point, I think there are better choices. Parking was at meters on Main or free if you go far enough into the neighborhood. Bottom line: This was fine, but I'm not rushing back.

Came by to try some steak goodness. Parking isn't the best here. There are some metered and free spots along Main, as well as the side streets. The place has been around for a while, so things are a bit worn. With that said, it's still classy looking on the inside. The inside is decently sized. Staff were friendly, but they didn't come by too often. I had to physically go find the waitress. As an appetizer, they served bread. It looked like a random mix of pita and baguette slices. The steak I had was pretty decently cooked. A bit too cooked. My rare steak turned out to be medium-rare. My friend's steak also turned out overcooked as well. Dinged 1 star there. The baked potato was exactly as it sounded (no green onions or anything). The vegetables were cooke beans, carrots, onions, and broccoli. It didn't taste too bad, but the meal was almost $20. Overall a decent experience, but nothing really stuck out.

Our server suggested that, because it was happy hour, a pitcher would be cheaper and save us money. I specifically asked how many ounces the pitcher was and was told 32 oz, which sounded reasonable since we planned to get 15 oz beers. When the pitcher arrived, it was clearly 64 oz. The server apologized for the mistake, and I let it go, thinking we didn't have to drink it all. However, when the bill arrived, the price didn't match the quote. We were charged $25, not the $20 we were originally told when the 64-oz pitcher showed up, with the explanation that the regular price was $35 and that we had "saved" money. In the end, we were served twice the beer we wanted and paid twice what we intended, based on information that kept changing. Whether this was incompetence or intentional, it left me feeling frustrated and uncomfortable. The food and atmosphere really were great -- but the experience was overshadowed by feeling manipulated. Enjoy the food and beer, but pay close attention to what the wait staff tells you and what ends up on the bill.

Firstly when we arrived nobody greeted us for I would say about 10 minutes even though the place was quite empty when we arrived, and when we finally received a table we were seated at a table that was wobbly, and the menus we received were stained and sticky, which got me immediately on edge about hygiene and made me uncomfortable. For drinks selection - nothing special that you can't get anywhere else, and the place being quite empty the vibe was quite boring too. I just felt uncomfortable being there and there isn't anything special about this pub that you can't get better anywhere else. We finished the one drink that we got and headed elsewhere. I wouldn't recommend this spot.

Had many a great night here over many years as it provided a nice respite from all the crazy nightclub activity on Granville St. Sadly, they will be closing soon and will be dearly missed. The memories of the Morrissey Pub will live on in those who frequented it, and I will cherish mine.

This corner spot is neatly tucked away with a few outdoor seating spots, but the magic in itself is inside. The mix of vintage and old glam showcases the hybrid aesthetic. Perfectly described, The Ballyhoo definitely lives up to the over-the-top decor from their food offerings and styling. I managed to find myself arriving within happy hour and was super please I was able to bring my laptop out and get some work done without it causing anyone a fuss. The server I had was super friendly and she had all the tables she was handling in good spirit. After opting for a local draft beer and some bites, I kept over hearing how delicious the mozz sticks were. Now IDK how one levels up mozzarella sticks, but these truly were some of the best I've ever had. The dipping sauce was super spicy but bearable for anyone's heat preference and the breading and cheese inside had such a burst of flavor you wanted to simply inhale them. What had me in awe though was the cheese pull game. No need to fear about them being overdone not cooked enough, these babies were cooked to perfection with the cheese literally oozing out of each bite. I saw a few plates being served around and think this spot is definitely worth exploring.
