Highly recommend! He fixed our dishwasher and toilet. Very reasonably priced. We will be using him again when needed.

UNMITIGATED SCAM: Demanded Full Payment Upfront, Failed the Job, and STOLE 25%! Do not ever trust…read moreMr. Appliance--they are running an absolute racket. We hired them for a stove exhaust job, and before they even touched a single tool, they aggressively demanded the entire cost upfront. Foolishly, we trusted them and paid in full. That was our first mistake. On the day of the scheduled repair, the technician showed up, took one look at the job, and openly admitted he did not have the ability, training, or knowledge to complete the work. Instead of doing his job, he told us to contact the manufacturer. They pocketed our hard-earned money for a service they were completely unqualified to perform. It gets worse. When we demanded our money back for their total failure, they flagrantly deducted 25% of our total payment as a "fee" for a job they canceled because of their own incompetence. To top it all off, the repairman--who doubled as a slimy, high-pressure salesman--was incredibly secretive, shady, and untrustworthy from start to finish. They are predatory, incompetent, and deceitful. Do not let them pressure you into paying upfront for work they cannot do. Save your money, protect your home, and look literally anywhere else.

Let me start by saying I wish I would have contacted Great Lakes Appliance first. Our dryer stopped…read moreheating up and therefore was not drying our clothes properly. As this is one of the appliances covered under DTE's Home Protection Plus plan we have I contacted them and they sent out a company called Phil's Services. They came out on August 25th and said some parts needed to be ordered to complete the repair and they should be in in around 3 to 7 days and that someone would call me to schedule an appointment to have them installed. Weeks go by and no one from Phil's had called me so I take it upon myself to call and see what the hold up is. I am told I need to speak with their Parts Department, but no one was available and they'd call me back shortly. The following day someone finally calls me back and says the parts are on their way and should be in within 3 days. I said "Great, let's schedule an appointment now for you to come out and install them." and the guy tells me he can't do that until the parts actually come in. Two more weeks have gone by and no one from Phil's had called me back. Fed up and aggravated beyond belief I contacted DTE and they sincerely apologized for the troubles and said they would send out someone from Great Lakes and they were a much better company to deal with than Phil's. The tech was scheduled between 1:00PM and 2:00PM, but actually showed up early. Kudos to that! My only small complaint is he didn't call to let me know he was on his way. Luckily I work from home so I was here. No big problem. I explained everything that had been going on with Phil's and he seemed genuinely shocked. According to him he said that both the flame sensor and coils that were originally diagnosed as the problem per Phil's are very common parts any HVAC tech should have on hand in their truck and the issue should have been fixed that day. If they don't have them in their truck then their shop most certainly does. The fact I had to wait a month and never got a call back from Phil's was truly unacceptable. He then went on to tell me that it didn't even look like the tech from Phil's even opened up the dryer to see what was wrong and just took an educated guess at the problem. Reason being is that of the two parts that were needing to be replaced per Phil's, only one was actually bad which were the coils. Not more than 15 minutes later he had the part replaced and the dryer working again. Thank God for Great Lakes Appliance. They will most certainly get my business again if a problem ever arises.

I ordered some appliances from another store (big mistake). They messed up the order. Went…read moreonline--found Sargent (I live near Ann Arbor). Here's what I did find at Sargent......they have a pretty extensive in stock inventory---whih is what I needed since the workers were already at my house doing a kitchen remodel. I selected another cooktop--and got it at a great price. Got home with the cooktop and it didn't fit the opening.....called back to Sargent. John (at the Clinton store and one of the owners) got me a different cooktop (that does fit) and made it right.....right then and right there. I cannot say enough about this company--EXCEPT---now I know where I will START when I need another appliance in the future. These people are TERRIFIC to work with. I NEVER write reviews, but wanted to let anyone who reads this know they are dealing with a great company--and you get the service and attention you want and need when you are making important appliance decisions. THEY ARE GREAT!!!!!

I unfortunately cannot recommend Sargent Appliance…read more We purchased a brand-new GE dishwasher and paid $169 for professional installation. During the very first full cycle the day it was installed, the bottle-jet clips ended up on the bottom of the dishwasher, melted, and left a strong plastic odor. Our salesperson, Joe, explained that the clips can come loosely attached or sometimes be placed in the silverware basket, which only made me question why they weren't thoroughly checked and addressed during the professional installation we paid for. Joe also told us we could continue running the dishwasher. After plastic had already melted inside a brand-new appliance, I was absolutely not comfortable repeatedly running and essentially troubleshooting the dishwasher ourselves in hopes that the smell would go away. I didn't want to risk additional damage or potentially be held responsible for continuing to operate it after we knew there had been an issue, so we stopped using it. On 8/24, we were told someone would be coming to look at the dishwasher. My husband went into work late and I canceled my clients so we could be available, only to wait most of the day and eventually be told nobody was coming. After that experience, I felt much more comfortable requesting a brand-new replacement rather than continuing to troubleshoot a dishwasher we had just purchased. The paperwork we ultimately received documents that the clips were on the bottom of the dishwasher during the cycle and that there was an "alarming plastic odor," but then states that we were given the option to rectify the issue with the existing dishwasher and that the "customer wants new unit." While technically true, I don't believe that wording fully reflects the circumstances that led to our decision. This was not simply a customer preference for a different unit. We had just purchased a brand-new dishwasher and paid for professional installation, the bottle-jet clips had not been thoroughly checked and addressed, plastic melted during its first full cycle, and the proposed solution involved us continuing to run the dishwasher for additional cycles in hopes of eliminating the odor. We then lost a workday waiting for someone who never came. That is also why I made a point of following up with Sargent in writing, to ensure there was a clear record of what had occurred and why we were requesting a replacement. I appreciated that when I later dealt with Jake, he took our concerns seriously and confirmed in writing that the replacement installation team would make sure the new unit was properly installed and would address the bottle-jet clips during installation. The dishwasher was eventually replaced, but getting there continued to be frustrating. We repeatedly had to chase Sargent for updates. Even on replacement day, 9/4, we never received the promised morning call with our timeframe. Around noon, we had to call ourselves and were eventually given a 1-3 p.m. window, which ultimately turned into a 7:30 p.m. arrival with very little proactive communication. Jake was the exception throughout this experience. He was responsive, professional, documented things in writing, and actually helped us get this resolved. We genuinely appreciated his assistance. Had the bottle-jet clips been thoroughly checked and addressed during the original professional installation, this entire situation likely could have been avoided. Unfortunately, what began as an issue with a few plastic clips ultimately exposed just how disappointing the customer service, communication, and follow-through were once something went wrong.
