I had Shelby Mechanical come out for a plugged and leak under a bathroom sink. Conner told me they tried every which way to unplug the sink and it was solid like cement under the house and the pipe was filled with rust because of old pipes. I received and estimate from Shelby Mechanical of 1,100.00 to go under the house and replace these pipes. I had G&C Sewer and Plumbing come out, for a 2nd opinion, and did not tell them anything of what Shelby Mechanical told me. After 5 minutes he came out and said "the drain is clear". I said "that's it"? He said "yes, usually sink plugs are fast to correct. He charged me 125.00 and it's been 4 days now everything appears to be just fine and running like normal. read more

Please do not trust this company and allow them to come in for your plumbing needs! The plumbers come and say something about your issue ans then their supervisor comes and says something else! They really do not know their jobs and they do not really realize what they are doing. They did damage to my under sink cabinet by cutting a big hole to ultimately find out if the piping attached to the wall is at least 2 inches wide according to the Code ! Ultimately they figured out it being 2 inches wide and another week, their so called supervisor came stating that it must be 3" and who says that code asks for 2 " !!! Omg! After all these , the damage to cabinet and wasting of my time & energy, they don't have consistency and everyone said to me something different I think that they are soo unable to perform a simple plumbing job like connecting a drainage hose to the wall not to mention doing major plumbing tasks! They were called to come and clear a blocked kitchen sink that was backing up into the adjoining 1/2 bath sink, the "tech" was of no real help, and I had to suggest what might be done. The first thing was to check the sewer stack pipe as was suggested by a neighbor's plumber. Of course that required getting up on the roof. The tech had no ladder, so I lent him mine. While using the video inspection cable down the pipe, the blockade was cleared. I have to say the tech did replace a P drain pipe under the one kitchen sink. That was pretty much all he did for an hour at the price of $275. Guess if I was fast enough, I should have charged him $50 or $75 for the use of my ladder. Anyway, I will seek another plumbing company next time when having a problem. read more

The plumber estimated one hour per faucet to clean and repack 5 bathroom faucets and 2 tub faucets, and one kitchen faucet and fix a frozen tub drain. The estimate was $1900. We contacted Trevarrow Plumbing and they estimated under $500. When Trevarrow Plumbing arrived (on time) they fixed the 5 bathroom faucets and 2 tub faucets in under an hour for $311.90. 1/5 the cost and 1/7 the time. To be fair, Shelby Mechanical is price for the same items would have been $1600. Still way too high! read more

I recommend Shelby Mechanical and will use them again. I found Shelby Mechanical on Home Advisor. I spoke to a gentleman on the phone - instead of charging me for a visit, he talked me through what might have been the problem; he gave me advice on how to fix it myself. How thoughtful. Well, I never did it by myself so I called him back. He was ready to come the very next day. I had a leak in my kitchen sink and needed help swapping my washer/dryer around. The water hose for my washer was too short so the installers put in the washer and dryer backwards so the doors were not convenient. With HE washer, you cannot swap the door. The plumber was on time. Her put on booties to cover his shoes. He was very polite. The plumber fixed the kitchen sink. He then went to Menards and bought a long hose and moved the washer and dryer for me. What great service!!! I only am giving 4 stars (he deserves 4.5), because I think he may have charged me for his full time for going to Menards - which I understand I need to pay for his time, but at the same time he should have already had the part because I explained over the phone what was needed before hand So perhaps I should have been charged maybe half- his hourly rate for his trip to Menards. But no matter, he did the job and did an outstanding job at it. I will still use Shelby Mechanical again. read more

The service person at my house was fine although a bit late. My main issue is the office billed me more than they quoted, and actually less work had been required. The ladies in the office are not people you can have a conversation with. I cannot comfortably recommend the company mostly because of the office staff. Update: I have since straightened out the invoice with the owner. Ron is pleasant and did confirm that I was initially overbilled due something unclear in the paperwork. That is resolved, but not before the office staff called me aggressively demanding $ and threatening me in a completely unwarranted and unprofessional manner.
