I was in town for a bachelorette party weekend, we decided to have breakfast here. I ordered they're famous Chelsea and it was a great choice. The food was very tasty, the combination of the ingredients made the dish worthy. The eggs were over-easy and the bread absorbed it nicely. I would definitely recommend a trip to this little market if your in town. The market also had very unique organic products and the feel of it was very cute. A great quick-serve breakfast/lunch spot in the heart of downtown Greenport. A group of 7 of us wanted a quick breakfast after a yoga class, so we decided to stop by The Market. They had a good sized menu with your breakfast/lunch staples, and they're extremely vegetarian friendly! I had the platter with eggs and potatoes and it was delicious. They have alternative milk such as oat milk, so if you have a dairy allergy then you're in luck. There are some tables and chairs if you'd like to sit down, and there's a small grocery store section with lots of allergen friendly and vegan food options for purchase. The service was quick however one of our orders was incorrect: One egg sandwich was supposed to have avocado and tomato and it came with just eggs. Just be sure to double check everything before you leave if you have a larger order. Otherwise, everything was delicious and very decently priced. read more

The Market is multi-functional.They sell local/natural products as well as organic produce, bake their breads and desserts on-site... and they have a nice little sectioned off cafe for breakfast & lunch. Their mission is also very focused around being environmentally conscious especially to the community. I mean, what's not to love? I took a day off with the family and we traveled out east (li) for the day for some much needed R&R. Of course we had to stop in Greenport! While walking around town, the Market immediately caught my eye. Everything appeared to be so healthy and fresh (which can be hard to come by!) The ladies at the counter (esp fellow Katie) were very sweet and helpful. After some contemplating and with a high recommendation from Katie, I opted for the Pear with Brie on a toasted Ciabatta Roll with homemade Jam. While waiting you can sift through their products or you can grab a newspaper. I esp loved the unique salt & pepper shakers on each table. Plenty to look at inside. The decor is pretty unique. But back to my sandwich. It was delicious. I've had granny smith apple and brie, but never pear. But all in all, it melded together perfectly. Layers upon layers of sweet, savory and bitter. They even added a nice little side of tortilla chips too. Wish I could have tried more from the menu since everything looks delectable. However, I did manage to grab some homemade coconut sea salt caramels on the way out... the perfect sweet treat to end my meal. If you're a health nut or simply a fan of fresh food with local ingredients, you MUST stop by the market. It's casual, relaxing and won't burn a hole in your pocket. Worth a visit for homemade breakfast, lunch, snacks, fresh juices, baked goods, and of course, plenty of healthy groceries. This was my third time at The Market and my first for breakfast. The breakfast burrito was excellent and pretty filling - I couldn't finish it. It came stuffed with scrambled eggs, black beans, melted jack cheese, salsa, and seasoned roasted potatoes. If I could give this place zero stars I would. I ordered three juices one of which was supposed to be a "green juice" which instead tasted like beets and was bright red. I asked why my juice was red when the owner snatched the juice out of my hand and yelled at me asking me what my problem was. I responded that I ordered a green juice and it tastes like beets. She rudely asked "well what do you want then?!" And I stated nothing. She ran to the back as I went to the register to get my money back while she continued to yell at me across the place. "The juice is red because it was made with red apples." HA because the color of the apple determines the color of the juice. Have you ever seen apple juice lady? And what explains the taste of beets? One of the best things goin' in Greenport - a much needed health food store (complete with Ginger Beer and "yuppie sodas") that has a cafe-style restaurant (and yes, they serve Bacon - applewood smoked Bacon) with a great selection of prepared foods to stay or to take home. Their Breakfast cups are mmm, mmm, good :) I've also really liked their vegetarian (tofu) egg salad, and their veg. burgers (especially their lentil burgers) on a bed of greens are simply awesome!. I just had their Breakfast burrito for the first time today - it was great! I also found out that they are now making vegetarian (marinated seitan) gyros which sound great, and hope to be trying soon.. In all, I haven't had a meal there I didn't love! They also stock great health food/organic produce, and fixins (teas, spices, vitamins, cereals, and much more) - if you're used to NYC-type health food stores, you'll love this place! I hope to find these folks in business for a long, long time :) After trekking out to Greenport w/NYC bought health food in the past, I'm *really* glad to have found out about "Market". When I walked in, I was not even sure they were open. It was stocked like a store not a cafe and no one was in front. I had the roasted veggie wrap which was good but very tiny for $9 and not filling at all. I also got the veggie chili to go but there were no utensils, and no corn muffin or bread, which was stated on the menu. The chili was watery and not good, and it cost $6. The Market came highly recommended from a friend and it definitely did NOT disappoint. It's a natural/organics/health food grocery store that happens to have a kitchen that dishes out some mighty fine eats! I have to admit, I walked in wondering "where the hell am I going for breakfast and what the hell am I doing inside a place like this that has 1 woman in the front and a young girl in the kitchen?" Well, the negative notions went straight in to the toilet after the whole wheat breakfast burrito I had...all I can say is WOW. All organic, all natural local ingredients were used including the beans, potatoes and the most fluffiest eggs I've had in a really long time. If you have kids, there's a little play area that'll keep the kids occupied while you shop and/or nosh on their wonderful creations. Someone in my party of 8 ordered the pancakes which were the size of mini compact discs and immediately exclaimed after the 2nd bite that they "were the best pancakes they've ever had in their life!" If you're into health food or healthy living, you'll probably like this place. While it's not for me, the wife liked it. We actually stopped in for lunch over the weekend. I had the chicken burrito wrap which surprised me as being very good. Wife had the vegetable wrap with a gluten free wrap. She had the juice of the day, which was carrot, apple and something else. As usual, it was too much for her to drink (she doesn't drink much liquid anyway). I got stuck with an Honest Tea which tasted like crap. I know the store is a health food store, but please keep some good ol' Diet Coke around for us non healthy types! There is one employee (possibly owner) who is of a particularly scornful nature. She will give you dirty looks as you approach the counter, act like writing down your order is some sort of God like task and then tell you "I'LL BRING IT OVER" in the nastiest of nasty tones I have ever heard in my life. The woman is nothing short of a witch. So be forewarned, if you place an order with this creature, be prepared to exercise great restraint in controlling your emotions. I've been in Greenport for only two days and both days I had to stop into the market for their terrific chicken salad sandwich. I got it on the 7 grain bread and received a hearty amount of chicken salad along with thick slices of tomato and lettuce. When I ate there it came with a side of chips that were crunchy and paired well with the sandwich. The place is part restaurant part local whole foods with a different type of salt and pepper shaker on every table. Armin had a goat cheese wrap due to a 4sq suggestion and he was not disappointed. The only thing that might deter someone is that these sandwiches come in around the 10 dollar mark but unlike a lot of places, you will get what you pay for. read more

Quaint and charming with mostly good food and very friendly employees. I have eaten here a few time with my husband, who is a vegetarian. Their food is pretty good and healthy. They have one of the best veggie burgers we have ever eaten. Absolutely delicious! It was clearly homemade and not frozen, really flavorful and full of yummy goodness. Most of their salads are good too. I would give them 5 stars except their food is often under seasoned and their selection is quite small. Not a lot of options at all. I also have found that some of their dishes really miss the mark. I ordered a split-pea with coconut milk soup, which sounded really interesting and unique. The problem was that I couldn't taste a drop of coconut milk and it was very heavy on curry flavor, which was not mentioned in the description at all. I do not like curry, so I would not have ordered it if it had been called split-pea with curry instead, which would have been a more accurate description. I also found the peas to be undercooked, hard and chewy. It was also short on seasoning. All in all, they have the best food of this kind in the area. I like this place and plan to eat here often. Update: I've eaten here a number of times now and the beans in the soup are always, always undercooked. If they could get this right the soups would be great. Although, I still feel they don't quite have the names right. To me, they imply different flavors than I actually get. That said, they are still tasty. Still one of the best veggie burgers I've had anywhere. Lastly, the place is always clean and the food is always fresh and that is big part of what keeps me going back. read more

They have a large selection of vegetarian and vegan food, which is hard to find in this area. My sandwich was pretty good, but unfortunately the avocado was not ripe at all and had to be removed before I could eat. I would have preferred to be told they didn't have ripe avocado so I could either skip it or order something else. They also have a nice variety of groceries. The staff were all very nice too. I've given this place several tries now and continue to be disappointed. Service is miserably slow, even when it's not busy. Staff seems lost in their heads and the manager/owner is downright rude. We ordered five sandwiches- one of which was the pear and Brie, I asked to add prosciutto and was told "you can buy some and we will put in on"- very strange, so I said I would do that myself. I looked for some in their store and they had none in stock- so I went to IGA. After purchasing the prosciutto (had time to go to IGA, buy it, and return before any sandwiches we're ready) they told me they had no Brie. Thank god for the cheese shop in the back of the store that is a separate entity. So we pay $5 for Brie, idk what for prosciutto, I had asked for greens on my sandwich and got none. The girl at the counter graciously said we should try to get money back since the Brie is most expensive part of the sandwich. However, the owner said "well, we provided the bread and pears so we will split it" and gave us $3 back...as we left she sarcastically called after us "sorry about the Brie thing." It took over 30 minutes to get five sandwiches to-go, buying half of the ingredients ourselves, and they ultimately forgot to add the greens I asked for and there was a seed in one of the pear slices! I am in LOVE with this place and only wish they had one in Manhattan! I tend to eat here once a week, and every thing I have ever ordered is really good. I am vegetarian, and my very NON vegetarian BF happens to LOVE the food as well. The people are very friendly, and it has a nice warm and welcoming feeling. There is a portion that is supermarket-type too, so if you're not looking to dine in, grabbing something to go, or purchasing food to prep at home is totally an option here. The smoothie recipes need to be improved. There's one with oats that's just inedible. And for nearly $10 they should've perfected their recipe. It's a great concept to have a vegan-friendly market in the center of town. I wanted to like it more than I did. It needs to be cleaned and painted. It's kind of dingy looking. The bread for the sandwiches that you might order is in the middle of the room completely exposed and shoulder-height so that anyone might sneeze or touch it. Gross. The cases needed to be cleaned out as there were lots of crumbs in them and food remnants. I get that this is a homemade, mom and pop place but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be spotless. The food could look a bit more gourmet for the prices, which are not cheap. Just ok. read more

A woman finally came then harshly asked me to move behind a line of people who had gotten there after me without even asking had I been there first. Just because she irresponsibly left the register unmanned, is no reason to have an attitude with your customers. I will not be going back. read more
