I got there last tuesday near noon. I was greeted by 2 very helpful maitres who pointed me towards the bar as I was alone. There the barman took the best care of me. My husband and I were in town from NYC and wanted something delicious and unpretentious. We found it! AMAZING service and great food. My husband had the Director (their Brussels sprouts are a must have) and I had the cheese plate and Waldorf Salad. Nice variety in the food and drink menus--veggie friendly. I was pleasantly surprised with this restaurant! I was seated immediately and waited on by the manager because the waiter was a little busy with a big group. The manager was patient and very knowledgeable about the beer selection. My normal waiter came out with my drink and then appetizer very shortly thereafter. The bartender made a minor mistake with my drink so they comp'd it even though I said it was perfectly fine. The food was amazing. I ordered their ribs which were fall-off-the-bone and basted with a sweet and spicy glaze. Their pickle chips appetizer is also phenomenal. Everything was served quickly yet still presented well and the prices are fair. I highly recommend this place. I might have to eat here again before I leave town this week. read more

First time tried this new place (located where The Marquette Inn previously was located) for a co-workers birthday lunch. Overall experience was good. I ordered the Marq Burger. Very good burger, but the fries were a bit soft. Went back the following day to try the Three Grilled Cheese because it looked excellent the day before. VERY disappointed. The place was a bit more crowded, which obviously took a toll on the kitchen's ability to be consistent. My "grilled cheese" was more of a cheese sandwich, evidenced by the attached picture. The "sweet mustard glaze" was good itself, but paired with the sandwich, was a complete failure. The "oven roasted tomatoes" were excellent by themselves, but needed draining as the entire sandwich was wet...not moist...wet! The fries, however, were crispy and perfect...hence the consistency issue, which is a common restaurant killer. Service was still good...but their kitchen needs work! Probably wont be going back any time soon. One final note, the checks all come inserted in a wood cube, which is cute, but impractical. I see the servers straining to take two or even three checks from tables ready to leave during the lunch rush. The longer it takes the servers to complete the 3rd grade wooden block challenge, is time your customers do not have to waste. read more

This is real fresh and delicious. For starters we had the short rib croquettes, fried pickles and the brussel sprouts. The brussel sprouts were perfect texture and flavoring. The croquettes were subtle flavor but topped with the aioli. The pickles were thin slice which added a nice blend of flavor with the crust. For dinner we all went with salads. It's a trendy spot to bring co-workers and friends after work. -Drinks were great (but they would do well to expand this side of the menu) The Bad: - The menu items and prices are all displaced. They could do better to match the image they are trying to portray by offering items that go well. They could streamline to mostly sharable plates not a diner trying to offer a little of everything, - Don't advertise "Best burger in the block." It's almost like the place demoted itself. It's not an ordinary burger joint or a diner....there isn't much competition in the area to say so. It doesn't match well when you walk into an trendier place as this. Why not just advertise the drinks. - Their bone marrow was subpar and pricy for what was provided. It came with a lot of bread with a side of jam as well. seemed disproportionate...I would have just taken this off the menu. the side of fries were not fresh or plentiful. Very cool restaurant with an urban vibe. Well laid out restaurant with the bar in the center anchoring everything. Great beer and wine selection. The food and service was great. Our waitress was really attentive and kept our water glasses full. My friend Renata ("Rachel") and I were in the area after leaving a industry event and decided to check out the Marq. I must say this was the best experience I have had at a bar/restaurant. The bartenders were very friendly and knowledgeable of various drinks and they were made very well. The executive chef Michael was phenomenal he engaged in convo with us and whipped up an off the menu dish which was delicious. The food the other customers were ordering looked very tasty. We were dining for the first time at The Marq on Adams St in the Loop, enjoying the friendly, efficient service, when my wife's steak arrived with a sauce that happened to include lots of cilantro, which literally makes her gag. We apologetically explained the problem, the plate was whisked away and the manager, Donny, courteously offered a replacement, no questions asked. A second steak, with no sauce, arrived tender, tasty and cooked exactly as requested, no charge. My meal was equally good. We'd definitely return. A small quibble-- if you want wi-fi, you could be disappointed. For us, the guest wi-fi here just didn't work, not at our sidewalk table and not when I tried again inside. read more

This bar tries very hard to please their customers and it shows. Our bartender was very attentive, friendly, and fun. I had a lunch meeting here once. The food was pretty average. My colleague and I had a difficult time hearing each other as the noise level was very loud. For a lunch crowd it wasn't too busy but the acoustics were really bad. Definitely not a good place for a business meeting. read more

Been to this place a few times this summer, and decided to give credit where credit is due! My wife, and I really love the service. Down to earth, upbeat waitresses..... not to mention great food! The fried pickles is our go to app. Create your own Marq Burger and you won't be disappointed. As a BBQ guy, I can assure you that this place knows how to do ribs. Excellent. If you're considering going to the Marq, just do it! You will not be disappointed! The location and ambiance are great, the food is phenomenal and the staff is friendly and attentive. We loved it so much we recently held our rehearsal dinner here for a group of around 40 people. Sean worked with us throughout the planning process and was super patient and helpful. The food was incredible and we had the chance to meet with Sean and the chef in advance of the event to try food and talk details for our larger group. We received a ton of compliments from our guests on the food: We had Fromage & Charcuterie to start which was beautifully arranged and set out during our pre-dinner cocktail mingling and placed on tables to kick off the meal (Yum! The chef picked some incredible options which I'm craving just typing about it), Greek Salad (super fresh and love the quinoa addition), Chicken Adobo (very flavorful and moist) and Short Rib (super tender and delicious). I could eat the Broccolini every day (the lemon and breadcrumbs give it a unique and delicious twist) and the Creamy Mashed Potatoes potatoes paired well with the short rib and chicken. Desserts did not disappoint either. Another wonderful benefit was the team's flexibility and support of dietary restrictions. We had a few GF/DF and vegan guests, and they were accommodating in modifying or offering alternatives that were just as tasty. Fall salad fantastic but when I asked about the missing butternut squash the server and the manager had to find out from the chef they are out of it. I hit up the Marq with a group of coworkers for a quick Friday Happy Hour. The staff did a great job attending to our group of 15+ people and even split the bill for everyone in our group. Exceeded my expectations given this was one of the few places with a lot of reservations open for a last-minute Valentine's Day dinner (within 15 min). We shared the beach risotto and some sort of vegan meat spaghetti... Alone the beet risotto would have been too much because of its richness but bouncing between the two dishes was fantastic. The only odd thing was when one of us got a drink and thought there was no jalapeño, they took it back, put it into the shaker with jalapeños then served it up again... perhaps they figure the alcohol kills the germs! While I came here for a burger (which is great), the bartender convinced me to try the Lamb Osso Buco. Let me tell you, it was Amazing, so tender and flavorful, worth the extra expense (compared to a burger). The mashed potatoes and grilled cauliflower took this dish over the top.
