This gem is my kryptonite. In here you become aware of a desperate vacancy that only one of their special items can fill. This is a spiritual experience of the aesthetic variety. It's absolutely worthy of five stars. However, being that the items are somewhat consigned, the price points on some items are a bit excessive. Drove past this place on my way to the airport last year. Started following them on instagram, and knew I had to go back asap.. That said, asap would be one year later. In December, I saw the coolest ice bucket and emailed for a quote. I got a quick reply, and thought it would never be around in June, 6 months later. The shop is large and tidy and the staff helpful and nice. Guess what, the bucket was there! I got help to give an offer on it, thought about it a day, came back and bought it. Hubby and I got to talk with Tyler who has a boot with his professionally taken photos he did in the 60s and 70s. Wow, they were cool and Tyler super friendly. So, we might have to go back and buy a photography from him. Take your time.. One hour is not enough. read more

This is a cool spot to check out vintage items. There's just a lot and it doesn't' appear to be organized in any way, so be prepared to spend some time here. With that said, there are a lot of different items and this is a great stop if you're looking for unique art/vintage items to set your space apart. read more

This is the best antique/vintage store in Los Angeles County. Huge selection with an ever-changing stock. Ever time I visit it looks different! Great place for collectors or nesters. Wife and I walked around and she bought a couple items. Unfortunately the staff followed both my wife and I around the store for over 45 minutes like we were criminals. We both commented on it when we left. It was very uncomfortable. I can only imagine how they would treat people of color. I have a love hate relationship with this place! As a vintage glass and pottery collector I appreciate high quality antique malls with lots of diversity of design and so much to choose from. Years ago my husband and I occasionally bought pottery and art from Wertz Brothers. When Wertz decided to focus solely on furniture we happily followed the Wertz antique dealers to The Mart. Since then we've bought a couple of small pieces from them and I'm a kid in a candy store when I'm there. That all said, my husband and I are also vintage dealers so we know what things should cost and what they shouldn't. The prices at The Mart are seriously high retail and we can't justify ever over paying for things. I understand the store owners have to pay the bills, dealers have to pay booth fees and everyone wants to get paid, but the internet is a real thing. Why should anyone pay high retail when they can find the same pieces so much cheaper elsewhere? I knocked a star off my rating because of that. read more

I visited Mart Collective for the first time and I was impressed. High inventory of estate and resell items. Some reasonable prices and others not so much! I'm kind of a geek for these kind of places and I wasn't expecting the enormity of it. The place has a lot of stuff! WOW! You name it, they seem to have it. Plus it's all so clean and displayed beautifully. Lots to look at and you do get a bit lost in it all. I read some other reviews saying that the store didn't have enough merchandise. I totally disagree. There's PLENTY of stuff to peruse - if there was any more then it'd be overwhelming. Pretty amazing selection, I saw incredible mid century furniture, lots of cases with smalls- although I rarely ask for case keys myself, I find cases hard to shop, but if you like sterling or Indian jewelry or collectible smalls, you'll love it here! They have some nicely curated vintage clothing, Indian blankets and the like. I'd love to see more vintage clothing ! One suggestion- I do like to be greeted upon entering a shop so that I know who is an employee if I need a case opened- since no one bothered to say hello my entire visit - that may keep a less determined shopper from buying anything. Though I was unable to find a piece I am looking for, the salesmanship and courtesy of this shop is right on! Robert introduced himself and we commenced to leisurely walk about. There's a lot of stuff here, but the prices are absolutely OUTRAGEOUS. $495 for a steel jack!? There is a plethora of other examples of shameless gouging in virtually every booth. I've been to MANY antique shops all over the country and have never encountered prices like these. It's offensive. I found myself scoffing at just about every price tag, seeing items I found at other shops earlier in the day for triple the amount or more. The people at the registers are friendly but not enough to overcome the feeling of being ripped off. Drive a little further to Long Beach or Highland Park and find similar items for a quarter of the cost. read more

I walked past the Mart Collective for six months before making it through the door for the first time. From the window displays I thought it was ONLY an antique (traditional to modern) furniture shop. Instead it is a consignment warehouse for about 100 curated stalls. Essentially it is the Pasadena Flea Market in a 16,000 square foot warehouse dropped into Venice. As each stall is curated by a different collector you are bound to find a stall catering to your passion, taste, hobby or need. This is a destination visit. Glad I stumbled upon this place. I was driving back from home depot after I had bought a tree to plant and came to a stop at the red light in front of Mart Collective. I look over and think to myself if it's worth stopping in or should I get on with my Sunday chores??? I went in and I really was blown away. Bought two gorgeous silk pillows for a couch in almost pristine condition and saw a bunch of cool art and knick-knacks that would add charm to any room. Definitely a good place to shop for some unique pieces that you wouldn't find at a store. I saw some art pieces for my hallway but was in a hurry to get home. I'll definitely be coming back. This is kind of like an emporium of antique stores and saw something similar to this place in Ashville, NC called the Tobacco Barn. As far as their prices, it's not a bargain nor is it too pricey. read more

What a place!!! It is like going to a flea market that is air-conditioned!!!! This is a big space and in it each seller has their own section. Each section has its own vibe depending of the objects and how they have been curated. It feels so awesome to walk through here. Meander this way and that. Stop to look at this old tool and admire that old cupboard. Imagine what you would do with this if you just would have the space.....You can find pretty much anything from here: furniture, lights, dishes, decorative items, mirrors, armoires, paintings, textiles even some clothing.....I so enjoyed my time here and left with a mirror and two old books that are perfect for my space. Been to several Antique shops throughout Los Angeles. Lots of the same types of items and not a ton of variety that I'm use to seeing. But the main issue I had with this place, well the first issue is the place has no A/C! No ventilation! It's damn near 100 degrees in the place at all times. Fans everywhere and if your lucky you can get a spot right infront of one to cool yourself from the misery for a couple minutes. The other issue is the items are way OVERPRICED!!!! One example were these little 5 inch sombreros in a basket, there were like 5-8 of them. Inside they say "made in Mexico" you can get these little hats anywhere for under five bucks. This person was selling them for 195 dollars each, even the worker was freaked out by the price of alit if the items in the store she worked in. Completely outrageous!!!! I've seen all the same type of crap for a 1/16th. of the prices. They think cause they are in Venice they can get away with this crap! Won't be going back! So . . . I'm not really sure why it's taken me so long to find this place. What a gem! The Mart Collective features a wide variety of vintage and antique objects. The place is massive. Good for an hour or two of browsing, if not more. So many of these types of places are outrageously overpriced, but The Mart Collective definitely does not fall into that category. A set of four beautiful chairs from 1820 for $395? You can't get four chairs for that price at Cost Plus! There's a TON to see, but it's arranged in such a way that you can actually see it all--not overwhelming like these sorts of places so often are. Everything from antique furniture and artwork to miniatures and dish ware and quite a few objects that defy categorization. I see many more trips to The Mart Collective in my future. read more

I love this place. The selection of vintage items available there are impressive. On top of it, they are displayed nicely and orderly. Customer service is top notch! The people worked there are all so friendly and often ask if i need any help. Usually, i did not expect antique shop staff to be this friendly.. Haha. Granted that the price are a tad bit on expensive side, but i went on the day where most of the vendors are doing discounts. And, i came with the knowledge of the stuff that i plan to buy. So, i already knew the fair price of the item. The usual ticket price given was, i admit, overpriced. But, with the discounts, i cannot complain about the price anymore. Better than a swap meet or a snotty antique/decorator shop. Fun place to snoop out some quality vintage finds. Very good variety of items/eras and helpful employees. Items well displayed and organized. Variety of pricing (some high and some that were fair). Reminds me of the anttique "malls" on the east coast, but this is cleaner with fewer "bargains." This has got to be one of the best vintage/ antique stores I have ever been to. If you are looking for records, old art, vintage clothes, antique furniture or even just weird cool stuff, this is your dreamland. They are constantly getting new items from different vendors and every time I go in there, I am astonished of the history in front of me. It is a bit overwhelming because there is so much to see so I would recommend dedicating at least an hour to soak it all in. It is a little bit on the pricier side but is understandable as everything is authentic. The staff has always been helpful when I've asked about an item. I do, however, have to limit myself to this store because I will always find something to fall in love with and end up spending more than planned. read more

Stumbled into The Mart Collective yesterday and WOW! Super excited to see what they had to offer!! Everything from pill boxes to grand pieces of furniture! Something for everyone! They took two buildings and connected them...filling them to the brim with eye catching items for decorating, gifting etc. Prices were all over the board...low and high...something for everyone's price range. Not just one type of item as I think they have different sellers/vendors so the merchandise is different from one stall to the next. The staff was nice and the bathrooms CLEAN which is something to think about. Overall I spent a good 2 hours and left with a Christmas gift for a friend and one for myself!! I was super excited to see this antique mall move to the Venice community and could not wait to visit. Sadly, I was underwhelmed. The best thing I can say about the Mart Collective is it is professionally merchandised...meaning it "looks" nice. However, that is the only nice thing I can say. The energy of the place is terrible...as if a group of disgruntled space renters came together to start their own place thinking they knew better without any consideration to their customers. I was followed around everywhere I went by a worker with tightly folded arms and intense stares. Not once was asked if I needed any help. No smiles were given, no greeting upon arrival or thank-you upon exiting. I did see several things that I was interested in purchasing, however EVERYTHING was extremely overpriced. Just to make sure I had not gone completely mad, I looked up one item on display when I returned home. I found the EXACT item on amazon for $12, the Mart Collective price was $55!!! Now I understand paying a premium for someone's good taste to curate a great collection of items but over 4 times the value of the item is ridiculous! read more

A wonderful spot for treasure-hunting in Venice. The place is enormous, with a good range of eclectic dealers and decorative objects. But the real secret is the space in a back corner with a LARGE selection of pristine LPS. Records are clean, priced below market, with shelves of selection and new arrivals in all categories.
