I so wanted to love this place! It is a cute little restaurant. Super clean, and the bar is stocked. Fantastic service! But the food. Subpar. We started with the pretzel app. It was soft, well baked and the beer cheese was good. But no salt?? How do you serve a soft pretzel with no salt? So weird. Hubby had the chicken salad sandwich. He said there was no taste. Guessing no seasoning? Me I asked about the quiche (that was ON the menu saying to ask the server what the quiche of the day was). Guess what? There is no quiche. The server apologized and said it didn't sell and they haven't updated their menu. I'm sorry, the menu is a printed piece of paper. Not even laminated! Update your menu, it can't be that hard. So instead I went with a BLT. On the plus side, there was a decent amount of bacon. On the negative - it was super dry. It could have used more Mayo and on the whole sandwich there was one small tomato. It also included pickles??? Who DOES that? I mean, I love pickles, but not on my BLT. Overall, the service is fantastic. Unfortunately, the food is not great. We are in this area often, but won't be back. I would give it a 1 star, but the awesome service gave it more. read more

First time here and we went for brunch. Started with mimosas and wanted chicken n waffles. The waffle machine was broken so they did chicken and French toast. Few things to comment on, the French toast was made with regular toast bread but I was expecting brioche or challah not something I can easily make at home. We were excited to try this newer restaurant for brunch. Service was very slow from the start. The restaurant wasn't full and it was past the lunch rush. We sat down and it took awhile to be greeted. And then two servers finally came to say hello with a minute of each other. Didn't seem very organized. Drink order took several minutes. We then ordered. Took almost an hour for our food to come out. We were apologized to twice for how long it was taking, but nothing beyond those check ins. Our water carafe wasn't refilled. Our server walked over to another table near us with our food in her hands, and another dish. She dropped off that item and said it was because their food was taking so long. However, they came in after us and we weren't offered anything other than being told sorry it was taking so long. She then came back to our table and then brought us our food. No one checked on us to make sure our food was okay. My friends potatoes were over cooked. My eggs were requested to be over easy and they were very well done. The biscuits were hard as rocks. We then had to ask for our bill twice. The menu had a lot of promise, but combined with the poor service, lack of attention even though there seemed to be plenty of help given the amount of guests, and the lackluster food, this isn't a place I'd consider visiting again. First time trying this place since it opened! Bailey was our bartender and was fantastic! The place was low key & southern ambiance which I loved, with two large tvs behind the bar and a couple beers on tap. We opted to go with cocktails which ranged from $10-$13. All were fantastic! The Raspberry Lemonade was my favorite followed by the blueberry crush. The pb&j and the bourbon margarita were okay, don't think I'd order them again though. The pimento cheese fritters were fantastic! Light & airy with delicious breading allowing the cheese to shine without overpowering. One thing I'd recommend is having an option for tortilla chips with the dip, as my wife can't eat gluten so we opted not to get the pimento dip to share (which we really wanted to do). Excited to come back and try a full meal but it was an awesome place to visit and glad to have a new nice place near our house, we will definitely be back read more

The first visit here over the weekend was a bit of a mixed bag. Upon arriving, we had to figure out where the door to go inside actually was. There are two sets of doors, but neither had the restaurant info on it (tinted windows make it even harder to figure out). I highly recommend adding it to the entry door to clarify which one people should be entering. Get that logo and hours up there, pretty please! There was no wait, so that was great. However, once we were seated we waited no less than 15 minutes before someone came to our table. Our server was lovely, though. She was really personable and checked on us often from there on out. Once we ordered our food, we waited for almost 45 minutes for our food to come out. The hubs was not happy - he was angry (and that's not pretty, folks). The hubs liked the flavor of his shrimp and grits, but there were only three small shrimp. Fortunately, I had plenty of food on my plate to get an assist with my Chicken & Waffles. The waffle had good flavor but was slightly on the dense side (to be fair, I am SUPER picky about waffles). I got butter to soften it up, but it came out melted, which I found a little strange. The fried chicken, however, was PERFECT - nicely seasoned and perfectly cooked. I had a blueberry crush, which was pretty tasty, but slightly lacked in the alcohol content. The prices here are on the high side. It was $72 for two people to have brunch. For a brunch that pricy, I expect to be blown away (at least give me more shrimp in the Shrimp and Grits and a better alcohol balance in a mixed drink). We're definitely interested in some of the other menu items that looked amazing flying by us while we hungrily waited for our food. But we'll likely skip some of the higher-priced items and the drinks. We'll also probably wait a little while to return so the staff gets a better footing in the daily ins and outs. We've needed something like this in the area. I'm hoping it only gets better from here. read more

My wife and I took a lunch date to The Mason Jar yesterday. The hostess/waitress/bartender/manager was delightful and took care of us. We ordered the pimento balls for an appetizer and they were tasty. They weren't to greasy and the jam on them gave them a different dimension. I got the meatloaf and it was good. The mashed potatoes could have used some help on taste, but the broccoli was good and the onion rings were as well. My wife got the chicken salad sandwich. I had a bite and it was good. It could have been elevated by adding maybe pecans to it for some crunch. We'd go back for another meal. read more

Would have liked the bacon to be crispy. Coffee was good and loved the cups with the little personal creamer. My bagel sandwich was delicious. And the house potatoes were fire!!!! So make sure you get house potatoes. Wish I took photos of everyone's food. We were a big party of 7 adults and 4 kids. The biscuits and gravy are not your traditional kind. My neighbor had no complaints and ate it all! My husband and kids got pancakes. They were a bit thick and dry. We will be trying this place again outside of breakfast items. I came across this place when I was getting paint next door. I noticed the string lights and outdoor seating and thought that looks like a cute new place to try. I looked up reviews and they were mixed, but decided to try it anyways. First of all the decor doesn't go with the name. The place has no character inside or out. With a name like Mason jar I expected maybe a southern or garden vibe. It's a painted room with basic furniture and a bar. Nothing cozy about the place at all. On a positive side the service was good, but I was the only table in the place. The food was ok. I can't say too much about that because my kids ordered pancakes and French toast. They liked it, but my BBQ sandwich was just ok. It had far too much bbq sauce and the cole slaw was definitely not homemade. I have had better store brand cole slaw. Just nothing special about the food and it was overpriced in my opinion. They didn't have kids menus printed, but apparently have a kid menu. My daughter wanted the pancake, but it's literally one big pancake that comes with nothing else. I also noticed the price on my menu for my bbq sandwich was different that price on my bill. It was more on my bill, but I didn't bother bringing it up I was just ready to go. All in all I have to say it has potential if they would just improve the outdoor space and make it more inviting it might be a nice place to hang out and have a drink. read more

Do not go to this place!! My girlfriends and I went for brunch today. Walked in, were not greeted or acknoweged. Stood there awkwardly for several minutes. After some time, the bar tender told us to seat ourselves but all of the empty tables were dirty and dishes had not been cleared. Found one semi clean table and seated ourselves in the back. Waited close to 10 minutes before anyone came to the table. We were then brought water with visibly dirty/brown rimmed glasses. The waitress took them back and brought two new glasses but then upon her own inspection she realized one of them was also dirty! After that we obviously wanted straws. She disappears again and then comes back with 3 unwrapped straws in her bare hand. Waitress was rude and couldn't care less. My friend asked about a specific drink on the menu, and she said "I don't know." She couldn't care less. Needless to say, we walked out without ordering and will not be back! This place will be out of business very soon. read more

We got to the Mason Jar at 6:00. We were a party of 6. There were only a few people there. The service was so slow. We ordered 2 burgers, fish and chips, Cobb salad, shrimp Alfredo, and a BLT. We all had water. The food came out after 75 minutes. We were not all served at the same time. One burger was fine but she never got the honey mustard she asked for, the other burger was partially cooked. They were supposed to be smash burgers but they were not. The sweet potato fries were limp and greasy and uneatable. The salad had limp greens in it. The worst was the Shrimp Alfredo. The sauce looked like white water. We flagged the waitress down and sent it back. She offered to have the cook replace it but we declined. The fish was supposed to come with French fries but they were out. We will NOT be going back here. Our bill was reduced by half but it was not worth that at all. We won't be returning. read more

Disappointing. This was my 3rd time eating at the Mason Jar. The first two times were fantastic, including the food and service. However, I couldn't help but speak my mind after this last visit. I tried to order a club and they said they were out, which was fine, so I ordered a BLT with grilled chicken instead and my accompanying family ordered fried chicken sandwiches. We waited over 30 minutes for our food to come out, mind you the restaurant was empty with maybe 2 other tables and a few solos at the bar. Once the orders came out, both fried chicken sandwiches were overcooked. The waitress made a mistake and brought out a 3rd fried chicken sandwich instead of my BLT with grilled chicken, which was also fine, but I reminded her that I ordered something else. She apologized, took it back, and said that the cook was starting my order again. Perfect, no problem at all. She returned once again with "another" sandwich less than 10 minutes later. I quote "another" because it was the exact same sandwich she had brought out before, but this time the fried batter had been picked off, leaving remnants of it along the edges and on some other parts. I was shocked and confused as to why anyone would do this other than being lazy. The sandwich itself was plain and flavorless, and not to mention it was also $20! I'm usually not one to complain, but that is a little ridiculous. I'm certain the restaurant would make it another day if another chicken breast had been used and cooked properly. Fortunately, I don't have any allergies or another major reason as to why I ordered a grilled sandwich versus a fried one, but I'm very disappointed. I'm not sure I'll ever be back, but I hope that others have a better experience than I did. read more

We arrived just after 6pm on a rainy Tuesday evening. When we pulled up it appeared the restaurant was empty, but after entering there was one other couple sitting and eating a table. My wife, son, and I sat down and were immediately greeted by the hostess/waitress and sat down. The restaurant has a cozy country vibe with 6 or so tables in the main dining room and a number of outdoor patio tables. I ordered a Habanero Moscow Mule and it arrived promptly. The drink was really tasty with just a hint of spice, definitely didn't give off habanero vibes. We ordered an appetizer of the fried pickles. The pickles had a thick cornmeal batter and the sauce appeared handmade. The first issue was uncovered after taking a bite of the pickles, the batter was pretty dark and held a decent amount of oil. After taking a bite, they were really hard to bite through, tough, overcooked, and were actually fairly spicy. Although they were overcooked, the flavor was overall pretty good when paired with the sauce. My wife attempted to order the cold plate appetizer for dinner, and after a minute, the server came back and said they didn't have any of the other items except the chicken salad, which she then just ordered the chicken salad sandwich instead. The main entrees came out and I ordered the Cowboy Burger, which was also handmade and was very good. Lots of bacon and the burger was juicy and cooked perfectly. My son got the Fried Chicken Buffalo Sandwich, and it looked amazing. It was dripping with lots of buffalo sauce and the condiments looked fresh. After taking a bite, we said it was really hard to eat. I tried to cut the sandwich in half and it was really difficult to cut and similar to the pickles, the breading was really dark. I took a small bite of it and realized it was really overcooked and dry. The abundant amount of buffalo sauce helped with the dryness, but the chicken was really hard to bite and chew as a result. My wife's chicken salad sandwich came out on what looked like regular white bread (not Texas Toast as indicated on the menu), and was pretty bland. The chicken salad has a strong celery flavor, but seemed fresh. The sweet potato fries were amazing with a crispy exterior and pillow interior. Overall, the service was fantastic. Our drinks never were empty and we always had someone coming around to check on the table. The food however, was underwhelming. The fried pickles and fried chicken were well overcooked and both were really tough to chew. The chicken salad was lacking seasoning and tasted too much of celery, but the star was the burger and sweet potato fries. The price is on the higher end for a restaurant like this, especially for the quality of food we received. As much as I wanted to love this place and keep coming back because it is close to home and the selection of food is good, I think this will probably be our first and only visit. read more

The name Mason Jar suggests a southern style, be it in the ambiance or the food, this place misses on both. On our first visit my wife and I went in for lunch. The decor is nondescript not leaning in any particular direction. The menu offered appetizers that averaged about 12 to 13$ Salads averaged 14 to 15$ brunch classics and sandwiches average 15 to 16. The lunch plates start at 20$ for chicken and waffles and top out at 35$ for crab cakes. I was looking at the lunch plate meat loaf with two sides (broccoli and mashed potatoes) for 22$, but I just couldn't do it knowing I could get lunch meatloaf at Cracker Barrel for 8.95 with two sides, and you get to pick from about 12 different sides. I ordered from the brunch classics, Ham Benedict - described as English muffin with country ham, two poached eggs and hollandaise. My wife ordered from that section as well getting the Biscuits and Gravy. On mine the country ham was a single very thin slice of deli ham not what we know as country ham. One egg was slightly under done with a running egg white and the hollandaise was lemon forward but not bad. My wife's biscuits and gravy had a poor quality sausage and the gravy was not a milk based creamy sauce but an off yellow thin sauce. It was served over home fries and most of the gravy ended up in the bottom of the bowl rendering the home fries soggy. I didn't volunteer any feedback at the time nor were we asked how things were. We drank water and spent 43$ for lunch. They may have better food on the menu but we will never find out as we won't be back. read more

It was a strange experience. I get that it was a soft opening. The manager/owner was very nice to others around us, but that didn't last long. He wasn't expediting when the servers were in the weeds. We ordered a key lime ice cream sandwich and our server did not know that she was to get it herself. We waited a ridiculous amount of time for the dessert.
