I loved living here when I first moved in, but there were a lot of changes that made this place get unattractive really fast. 1. The parking. When I come home at night, there is literally no resident parking left, because people who don't live here and don't have a sticker are parking in our resident spots and are NOT being towed as promised in the lease. Can't blame them though, because there are zero signs in plain view telling them they can't park there. They then send letters out threatening the residents that if they park in a guest spot as a result of not having a resident spot available, WE will be towed! Meanwhile they aren't doing anything about it besides writing letters, and that's why it will never improve. They need to paint each and every parking spot with a resident stencil, or else nobody will know they can't park there. They probably want it to annoy us though, so that we will pay 75 dollars for the covered parking. 2. The pool. I just found out about this after living here for 10 months. The pool is tiny, shallow, and nothing to be excited about. But, they will charge your guests 20 dollars if you bring them to the pool. Even if you live alone, guests are NOT allowed unless they pay the 20 to come to said kiddie pool. Yes you heard that right. It's 20 dollars per guest and only 2 guests allowed. So basically, there is no pool for me because my guests aren't paying that and I'm not going to the pool alone. One of the amenities supposedly included with my apartment, gone. 3. The noise... My neighbors seem to have no idea that they are in fact living in a building with other people in it. I am constantly hearing banging and booming noises because my upstairs neighbors don't seem to know how to walk around correctly in their house, and my apartment shakes every time it happens. One time a shelf fell off my wall because of all the banging. They also drag a piece of furniture (their couch?) back and forth every single day. I guess they never heard of felt furniture pads. I'm pretty sure there is also a domestic disturbance happening above me. I have over 30 videos saved to my phone of different instances where you can hear them disturbing their neighbors. Then there's the people across the hall from me, who blast their music from 3am to 6am so that everyone around them can hear it. Despite neighbors leaving notes on his door and complaining to the office, nothing gets done. I personally have never complained to the office about neighbors because I'm not that kind of person, but I know for a fact other neighbors have, and nothing changes. 4. The pool table advertised in the clubhouse is a lie. The pool cues have no tips on them, making it impossible to play pool. Its just a flat white surface at the tip of the pool cue. They have been like this for a year that I know of. Pool cue tips are 12 dollars. The only good things about living here is Jasmine at the front desk, valet trash, and the maintenance team who responds to service requests pretty quickly. It's also a pretty place to live. These good things are outweighed by the bad. The other employees besides Jasmine always have a sour look on their face because they are miserable. After living here for a while, you realize they are strict enough to nickel and dime you at every turn and send letters out about everything, but not quite strict enough to actually enforce parking rules, starting with NON-residents, and improve the living experience of people they are already collecting rent from. They are more concerned with how they look to potential applicants, than living up to that in reality once you sign the lease. Oh, and they never sign their emails with a name, just The Mastlight Team, so that you can't hold any one person responsible for their ridiculous emails. Also to the other reviewers out there: STOP leaving 5 star reviews just because you toured the place and they asked you to. What they showed you and what they promise is not reality. You are creating a false sense of security for others by blindly posting reviews without living here.

Bike storage is always completely covered in bird shit. This picture doesn't begin to bring justice to how it looks in reality.

Terrible experience living here so far from May- Sept and I want to save someone else from making the same mistake. I believed the amenities would justify the price but they drop the ball in every area. The pool (4ft deep) is only open until 8pm so no night swims and you need to purchase addition pool passes to bring friends. You have to promptly sign in every time and the strict lifeguards absolutely ruin the ambience of the pool so you won't even want to be out there even if it wasn't filthy. Every single time I tried to enjoy the cabanas this summer they were disgusting. Nothing outside works !!! That's why I've included a pic of the water fountains that are collecting dust. I asked management today and they "didn't know" it was broken. However they have known the outdoor TV has been broken for over 5 months. This was so upsetting because I chose the Mastlight to enjoy outdoor TV on summer nights while grilling or even football this fall but it obviously isn't going to be fixed any time soon. Nor do the outdoor lights or speakers work. The bike storage isn't shown during the tours for a reason !!! And that's because it's covered in sh*t. This is the other most upsetting part because I'm an avid bike rider and looked forward to what I thought was a beautiful storage area. Come to find out it's infested w birds and they defecate all over my nice bikes. Then I have to stand in their poop to unhook a bike. It's so disgusting it's actually embarrassing to bring friends in there so I try to retrieve them before hand to avoid having friends see the pig's sty. The fire department lives here. Just this week I was woken up by the fire alarms in the building Tuesday. Today is Friday and I was woken up again when the building next door went off. They went off twice just today alone. If it weren't that disturbing my peace and quite it would certainly be my neighbors two dogs excessively barking. I had been woken up countless times and disturbed for hours before I went in person to tell management last month I couldn't live like this anymore bc the dogs bark the entire day and I work overnight and sleep during the day. Unfortunately for me they've done nothing about this and I'm still extremely lucky to ever catch some shut eye here. The Package Concierge is a terrible fail without ample storage lockers for residents causing most of my packages to be thrown to the side and management writes your last name on them. The last package I order you can see was delivered to the hallway at 5 am when I went to pick it up at 7 am it was moved. The leasing office isn't open during those hours so I don't know who moves them but I'm reluctant to order anything else. The amenities are definitely not worth it so pick any other complex in Union Point to have yourself some $$ and headaches !!

This place is an absolute nightmare. Do not live here…read more I've been a resident for less than two months and my car was shot with a BB gun on their property -- my driver's side window completely blown out and multiple BB holes along the side of my car. This happened in what is supposed to be a residential community. I discovered the damage while leaving for a doctor's appointment. Management's response? Total apathy and disrespect. I was told, "Call your insurance company and get it fixed." When I asked to review security footage, I was informed there are NO cameras anywhere on the property. Zero. No security. No deterrence. No protection. Then -- unbelievably -- the staff member looked at me and said, "Well what do you want us to do about it?" That sentence alone tells you everything you need to know about how little this place cares about tenant safety. This property is unsafe, poorly managed, and completely negligent. They take your rent, provide no security, and when crime happens, they wash their hands of it. If you value your safety, your belongings, or being treated like a human being instead of a nuisance, run. I would break my lease today if it were financially possible. Since it isn't, consider this your warning: this place is not worth the risk. There are safer, better-managed neighborhoods and buildings -- choose literally anywhere else.

Going back to apartment life after decades of home ownership was a huge adjustment, but I found HCR staff very welcoming and the community became very much my home. The apartments and amenities are beautifully appointed, with numerous floor plans to choose from Studio to 3-bedroom. A high priority for me was noise insulation and pet friendliness. The only time I hear noise from other tenants is when they're conversing in the hallways or out in the courtyard. No sound penetrates from sides or downstairs. And dog friendliness is exceptional, with a dog park in the central courtyard, numerous doggie station around the property for disposal of your best friend's droppings, and even a dog spa for those who like to bathe their dogs at home. After a year I've renewed my lease and braced myself for a steep Increase due to inflation, but was able to negotiate less than first offered. The only compromises I had to make were adjusting to an electric cooktop versus gas, because new apartment construction never has gas anymore. And the limited indoor parking, which is available only at a high monthly fee. But all things considered, and compared to all other apartments on the south shore, I'm very pleased with my choice.

Whether it's plumbing or a paint touch-up, it gets taken care of extremely quick. They can even install an extra A/C in the horizontal slider window with some plexiglass. As for winter-time: just clear off your car, and the rest is plowed and salted. Price: Rent this close to Boston will be expensive no matter what. Prices used to be on the lower side of the spectrum, but have since increased. Noise: Sometimes people outside can be a bit obnoxious with the yelling, and somethings kids playing a little late into the evening, but no one testing the limits of their amp. Safety: While I've never felt unsafe, there are a couple of things I'm not thrilled about. First, I wish there were more functioning cameras throughout. Second: packages get stolen like mad! USPS does not deliver, leaving a note to pick up at the post office. If you are getting packages by any other carrier, ship it to a friend, your office, else your package will get opened, if not taken. I've had lens wipes stolen... enjoy your clean glasses a*****e! Neighbors: Other than thieves who steal your s*** leaving torn packages in the lobby, people keep mostly to themselves. But some folks need to learn to use a dumpster. It's not difficult, just don't leave it strewn outside, this is not a modern art installation. Though the complex is officially smoke-free, I can sometimes smell mild cigarette smoke coming in from the bathroom vent (most likely). Hot water: As someone who likes hot showers, the water is far from tepid at ~140°, and I love it! No, I don't crank it all the way, I'm not insane. Parking: I've never had an issue with parking, and there's always a spot nearby. Though I do wish they would repaint some of the lines! Area: Nice for a walk (semi-circle of about 1/2 a mile), with a good amount of greenery. However, due to its forest-like nature, always keep some bug spray around. Would also be nice to have some sidewalks, though people don't particularly drive it's NASCAR. There is a bus station at one of the entrances to the complex. The bus runs okay (the T is well, the T), it runs enough to get you to and from work, but if you need to get to work early, or are planning to get back very late, seek other means. The bus is 222P, the 'P' is important. Lighting: I would invest in some new lighting. The lamps around the complex have a nice aesthetic but are quite dim. The parking lots are generally well illuminated, but that light pollution though... One of these insanely bright things mounted on a different building acts as a sort of nightlight! Bricks: My apartment is a freakin' sauna! Heat may be included, but it's like having a radiator in a steam room. Sure, it's great for aesthetic and fire-resistance, but not climate. Case-in-point: outside was ~50°, heat off, balcony opened a crack, still, 80° in the apartment. I wish I were kidding. If you like it cold, try for an electricity-included unit... I like it cold, and my electric bill in summer is insane. Pools: Small and more for the kids, two-and-a-half strokes, and I am on the other side! Though they are great to cool off on 90° days for everyone. There are chairs to get from R & R in the sun, though they're not the most comfortable Basketball and tennis courts are okay, but the volleyball court lacks a net (or even the posts anymore). There is a small playground, but I'm afraid I've outgrown it by quite a bit. Fitness Center: three treadmills, two ellipticals, some free weights, and a pulley. If that's all you care about, you're almost fine. Otherwise, just go somewhere else. Not open 24-hours (which is weird considering you need RFID access). Also, no spray/towels to wipe machines down. The closet is useless for holding coats in winter. There are toilets and showers, though the showers could use a lot of love. Bring shower shoes! Pre-move cleaning: They did a stupendous job of cleaning the apartment pre-move-in. I thought they'd just vacuumed and borrowed my parents' carpet steam cleaner, and the water came out clean! Though as it is with old carpet, no matter how good you clean, the stains eventually pop back up. A bit of the weird: The cabinets could use a better layout. Some of them you have to reach with your whole arm in the blind and hope you pull out what you were going for. I want to get a thermos, not do the hokey-pokey. Likewise, some of the closets have storage above, but the door only reaches so far. Light switches are sometimes poorly placed, a light switch for the plug directly below means I have extension cords running half the length of the bedroom!

Ruined a table, puddles on the floor, mold on the window blinds. Took a couple years for them to finally fix it. (Huge block of black colored mold was inside the wall when they opened it.) We also had 2 floods, totaling 3.5 months without a home. Lost half of our belongings, and had to clean up ourselves after the walls and ceilings were replaced. Lots of mold. The second flood (and perhaps the first) was a result of pipes not being up to code. They immediately fired the head of maintenance. Also, Avalon is a big corporation that unsurprisingly has no heart. My small business failed, and I had a period unable to pay. When I was able to catch up, Avalon did not want to let us stay.
