I loved living here when I first moved in, but there were a lot of changes that made this place get unattractive really fast. 1. The parking. When I come home at night, there is literally no resident parking left, because people who don't live here and don't have a sticker are parking in our resident spots and are NOT being towed as promised in the lease. Can't blame them though, because there are zero signs in plain view telling them they can't park there. They then send letters out threatening the residents that if they park in a guest spot as a result of not having a resident spot available, WE will be towed! Meanwhile they aren't doing anything about it besides writing letters, and that's why it will never improve. They need to paint each and every parking spot with a resident stencil, or else nobody will know they can't park there. They probably want it to annoy us though, so that we will pay 75 dollars for the covered parking. 2. The pool. I just found out about this after living here for 10 months. The pool is tiny, shallow, and nothing to be excited about. But, they will charge your guests 20 dollars if you bring them to the pool. Even if you live alone, guests are NOT allowed unless they pay the 20 to come to said kiddie pool. Yes you heard that right. It's 20 dollars per guest and only 2 guests allowed. So basically, there is no pool for me because my guests aren't paying that and I'm not going to the pool alone. One of the amenities supposedly included with my apartment, gone. 3. The noise... My neighbors seem to have no idea that they are in fact living in a building with other people in it. I am constantly hearing banging and booming noises because my upstairs neighbors don't seem to know how to walk around correctly in their house, and my apartment shakes every time it happens. One time a shelf fell off my wall because of all the banging. They also drag a piece of furniture (their couch?) back and forth every single day. I guess they never heard of felt furniture pads. I'm pretty sure there is also a domestic disturbance happening above me. I have over 30 videos saved to my phone of different instances where you can hear them disturbing their neighbors. Then there's the people across the hall from me, who blast their music from 3am to 6am so that everyone around them can hear it. Despite neighbors leaving notes on his door and complaining to the office, nothing gets done. I personally have never complained to the office about neighbors because I'm not that kind of person, but I know for a fact other neighbors have, and nothing changes. 4. The pool table advertised in the clubhouse is a lie. The pool cues have no tips on them, making it impossible to play pool. Its just a flat white surface at the tip of the pool cue. They have been like this for a year that I know of. Pool cue tips are 12 dollars. The only good things about living here is Jasmine at the front desk, valet trash, and the maintenance team who responds to service requests pretty quickly. It's also a pretty place to live. These good things are outweighed by the bad. The other employees besides Jasmine always have a sour look on their face because they are miserable. After living here for a while, you realize they are strict enough to nickel and dime you at every turn and send letters out about everything, but not quite strict enough to actually enforce parking rules, starting with NON-residents, and improve the living experience of people they are already collecting rent from. They are more concerned with how they look to potential applicants, than living up to that in reality once you sign the lease. Oh, and they never sign their emails with a name, just The Mastlight Team, so that you can't hold any one person responsible for their ridiculous emails. Also to the other reviewers out there: STOP leaving 5 star reviews just because you toured the place and they asked you to. What they showed you and what they promise is not reality. I agree with the woman who said beware of some who live there. Often felt unsafe, I was followed by a tan sedan while walking outside 2 times. There was a shooting next door while I lived there. Office staff was nice but would never recommend the Southfield complex In general. Not worth risking safety. read more

Loud barking dog all day, and Mastlight won't do anything about it. Everyone complains and nothing is done. It's been a couple years. Owners of dog should be fined and dog removed from them for not taking care of their dog's needs. read more

Beware of the people who live there. Heard two young males in the elevator excited and bragging how they were going to assault a woman in the building that night. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Lived there for a few years, damage to car in lot, opened and missing packages in the mail room etc. So glad I left the area. read more

Just run the other way. It's a bait and switch. There is nothing to like about living here, you are treated as a peasant and not as a resident who is paying a landlord for landlord services. There is no insulation and not one respectful neighbor, so don't expect any quiet. By the way, the "included" amenities are not included, they cost money. That's right, the ridiculous $2,700 you're paying for a 1 bedroom does NOT cover your usage of the pool, or a parking spot anywhere remotely close to the building. There are levels to parking that each cost a different monthly amount; the free one means you'll be walking a mile and you'll be out of breath by the time you get to the building. They will nickle and dime you at every chance without ever lifting a finger or leaving their office chairs. They make more money off parking, frivolous fees, and pool passes than they do off rent. There is no chance at nuance, they will throw the book at you. Don't expect to get a fee waived or any type of accomodation made for your nuanced situation. This is a corporate company and it feels very much so. They constantly teeter on the line of breaking housing laws and have actually already broken one in my case. Terrible experience living here so far from May- Sept and I want to save someone else from making the same mistake. I believed the amenities would justify the price but they drop the ball in every area. The pool (4ft deep) is only open until 8pm so no night swims and you need to purchase addition pool passes to bring friends. You have to promptly sign in every time and the strict lifeguards absolutely ruin the ambience of the pool so you won't even want to be out there even if it wasn't filthy. Every single time I tried to enjoy the cabanas this summer they were disgusting. Nothing outside works !!! That's why I've included a pic of the water fountains that are collecting dust. I asked management today and they "didn't know" it was broken. However they have known the outdoor TV has been broken for over 5 months. This was so upsetting because I chose the Mastlight to enjoy outdoor TV on summer nights while grilling or even football this fall but it obviously isn't going to be fixed any time soon. Nor do the outdoor lights or speakers work. The bike storage isn't shown during the tours for a reason !!! And that's because it's covered in sh*t. This is the other most upsetting part because I'm an avid bike rider and looked forward to what I thought was a beautiful storage area. Come to find out it's infested w birds and they defecate all over my nice bikes. Then I have to stand in their poop to unhook a bike. It's so disgusting it's actually embarrassing to bring friends in there so I try to retrieve them before hand to avoid having friends see the pig's sty. The fire department lives here. Just this week I was woken up by the fire alarms in the building Tuesday. Today is Friday and I was woken up again when the building next door went off. They went off twice just today alone. If it weren't that disturbing my peace and quite it would certainly be my neighbors two dogs excessively barking. I had been woken up countless times and disturbed for hours before I went in person to tell management last month I couldn't live like this anymore bc the dogs bark the entire day and I work overnight and sleep during the day. Unfortunately for me they've done nothing about this and I'm still extremely lucky to ever catch some shut eye here. The Package Concierge is a terrible fail without ample storage lockers for residents causing most of my packages to be thrown to the side and management writes your last name on them. The last package I order you can see was delivered to the hallway at 5 am when I went to pick it up at 7 am it was moved. The leasing office isn't open during those hours so I don't know who moves them but I'm reluctant to order anything else. The amenities are definitely not worth it so pick any other complex in Union Point to have yourself some $$ and headaches !! read more

Not sure how any development in Weymouth can be trusted. The former South Weymouth Navy Base is so contaminated it is hard to believe that any of the new condos/over 55 housing is not contaminated. The Tar mats end right before where the condos are built. Cannot understand why anyone would even consider buying these homes? Convenience to commuter rail vs. drinking water contamination is outrageous! Just to consider the high levels of unusable land only feet from your residence is beyond denial. Horrible views and contaminated land/drinking water hardly weighs in to convenient commuter schedules. Enjoy the convenience before your health fails and you develop any number of cancers. The contaminated streams and dump sites look and smell like motor oil. Take a good look at all the land that cannot be developed. "Forever Chemicals" are just that.....forever! read more

I lived at The Mastlight for over two years with mixed experiences. The employees in the management office do the very best they can, considering the tenant population. That being said, there's not a lot the management can do to corral immature, thoughtless residents, many with the mindset of drunk college students. Dogs & Drunks It was common on my floor for a few residents to stage "doggy play dates" - the dogs ran and barked in the hallway while the residents drank and laughed and had great times, frequently snapping at anyone who needed to walk down the hallway around them. You know who you are! Also, as the pandemic lockdown went on (and on and on) many, many new dogs moved in, living with residents who preferred to leave them out on the balcony barking & yelping rather than walk them. You can't blame a dog for peeing/pooping in the elevator or hallway, but you CAN blame the "owner". Appliances "Always-on" hot water heater takes ridiculously long to heat up- many times I waited up to 10 minutes. Maintenance routinely directed running the tub water until it got hot, then turn on the sink faucets. Ok- wait, what?? Stackable washer/dryer is a space-saver but not a water-saver as I routinely had to run 2-3 loads a week to get everything done. Also the washer locks once the cycle starts so if a load is unbalanced, there goes the afternoon trying to get it open to reset it! Electric cooktop is my preference, I don't like gas but there's so much space between the oven and the counter (1/2 inch each side) that I finally bought these handy but ugly covers for the side of the stove so things didn't keep falling down. Really ugly. Smoking It's a smoke-free complex. The lease states that fact in multiple places, it's posted everywhere, the management office reiterates that in emails which doesn't stop anyone who wants to, from burning candles, incense, weed, and smoking both inside and outside the building. BBQ's on balconies, tabletop sized grills, and the constant wafting smell of weed. Because rules are for everyone else, not you! My windows were always open the first fall I lived there but after that, not at all, as I wanted to try and keep the smoke smells out of my apartment. Parking Residents and visitors can park on the street for free, pay to park in the open lots, or pay more to park in covered but open "garage" parking with a color-coded sticker system. That doesn't stop anyone who wants to park in the garage from parking wherever they want, whenever they want. ! Trash Trash Valet! (angels sing above) The greatest amenity known. Five nights a week, a bag of trash placed in a provided trash bin is collected from outside your front door, which seems like an easy to grasp concept but for some people means save up all your trash for a week and stack the stinky mess in a pile for the poor Trash Valet to deal with. But when it works, it's magical. Which is good because for some reason quite a few people won't invest in a trash bag and they dump trash -loose - in the dumpster. Again, mindset of drunk college students. All in all, the apartments are nice inside; not 5-star luxury but nice. The finishes are color coordinated in shades of grey, white and brown, the kitchen island was huge and sat three very easily. The views outside are nice if you're on the street side of the building, looking across to the old naval base runway with some woodlands. The T comes by with some regularity and I know of one resident who moved just because of the train whistles (!) but once you get used to hearing it, it's kind of nice. The street between the building and the runway is a favorite racetrack for motorcycles and cars, so you'll be listening until late at night, and the runway itself is a popular party spot, especially back in the woods by the control tower. The living room and bedroom windows are huge, letting in lots of light. Unfortunately, once you're outside your apartment, the aforementioned drunk college students have soiled carpets in the hallways, scratched the floor indicator caps off in the elevator, scratched off the lettering on notice holders in the elevator and generally do whatever would entertain a bored 10-year old. There's a couple of electric vehicle charging stations, and whatever can be built "green" has been. It's a quick half mile walk up to Rt 18 to the South Weymouth T stop and CVS, but a drive to a grocery store, restaurant or coffee since there were no occupied retail storefronts while I lived there- maybe the newest Union Point developer will have more luck. Oh, and the drones over the runway almost every night? Totally creepy to see these professional-sized eyes in the sky hovering across the street from The Mastlight apartment windows, as many as 5 at a time. read more

We moved in 12/2019 and just moved out in March 2023, in which time our rent increased by almost $800/month for the same unit. Honestly up until Fall 2022 it was fine, our unit looked really beautiful and the area was okay. The building overall was pretty gross though, the stairwells smelled like urine and there was always dog poop along the grass outside the building. We easily had to place over 10 maintenance requests for broken appliances throughout the years, such as the washing machine which smelt like sewage and needed to be completely replaced, a broken dishwasher that wouldn't stop beeping, a water spot which turned into them cutting a HUGE hole in our ceiling that wasn't properly fixed for months (this was the only thing I have a pic of), our shower randomly backing up and almost flooding our bathroom with gross brown water that made our entire unit smell like sewage, and the list goes on. We finally had enough once we had to deal with the most obnoxious upstairs neighbors for our last few months of being there, who would run around stomping and screaming all day and night. Plus their dog would bark for hours right above our bedroom starting at 7am. Absolutely nothing was done by management, I wasn't able to sleep or relax ever with the amount of noise going on. I was just told over and over again that "they are working on it but can't disclose anything" for months. The sound of things being thrown and the stomping literally traumatized my dog to the point where we couldn't leave him home alone because he was so anxious. On top of it all, the person in the unit upstairs was violent, we had to call the police on him because of what we were hearing one night and it was very upsetting. I voiced my concerns to management SO many times. And finally when I asked them about being let out of our lease early since it was supposed to go through Sept and we were paying nearly 3k a month to live here, I was told they would waive the $3k termination fee but I would have to continue paying for 2 more months OR I could pay the termination fee and leave whenever I wanted to (they told me that I would still need to wait the 60 days after I had already set up tours for other apartments). In the end we wasted $3k on the fee because we couldn't get out of that place fast enough. And of course, our unit was on the market on their site RIGHT away after breaking our lease Good luck to whoever moves into B322 because it will probably be an absolute nightmare for you! To summarize: it's not worth the money they're asking for in the end. I assume the price is a reflection of its proximity to the commuter rail station nearby. A lot of the things that have been said by other reviewers are spot on, but I'd also like to add the following - 1. The hot water tanks take an absurd amount of time to heat the water. Considering how much water costs and you pay for it yourself, it's quite annoying. 2. Other residents' flagrant disregard for rules and the trash concierge. Not only have I experienced three different fire alarms that require me to evacuate the building with my dog in the past month due to someone smoking in their rooms, but then Management will send an email out to remind people of this requirement which will go unnoticed. Also, I lived there for a large part of the pandemic and the number of other residents that would just walk around maskless in the gym and the common areas, despite it being a requirement noted by management, was just fitting into my perception that a lot of the residents are gigantic assholes. The trash pickup sounds great until half of your floor is too lazy to take their own trash out on weekends and just lets it pile up in the hallway, which happens every weekend. The weed smell of my two neighbors in my hall is overbearing at times: as soon as I open my own door I can smell it come in, and it's disgusting. I have nothing against using if that's what you want, but the complex being "smoke-free" means no weed inside the apt as well. In general, it's being rented out to people who have no idea how to live in a communal space and be considerate of other people, a strong indication of management not doing any due diligence on renters that apply. 3. There's evidence of deferred maintenance already in the common spaces, hallways, lobbies, and garage. Additionally, the walls and ceilings are not thin/not well insulated from both noise and temperature. I cannot tell you how many times I've listened to my neighbors next to me argue/fight and could hear everything they've said even with my tv turned up. This past winter, my heat had to constantly run due to the immense amount of cold air coming in through the windowed wall, even with the windows locked properly. It's like I have to get window heat-shrink plastic up again as I did at my old place that was built in the early 1900s! Soiled carpets are a content eyesore, 4. The area: I don't know why, but the younger local residents of Abington/Weymouth/Rockland love to use Patriot Parkway as a 1950s-style, 'American Graffiti' drag racing spot, speeding up and down the parkway, generally after dusk. Every. Night. They also love to hang out on the parkway and harass people as they go out for walks/bike rides, leaving litter everywhere and then running into the old runway area at night setting off fireworks all throughout the year. Also, outside of the other living complexes and Union Point Sports Complex, there's not much around. It's "walkable" to get to some things (CVS is close, some restaurants) but the closest grocery store (Whole Foods) is not walkable if you're trying to trek home with groceries. It's still a car-centric area banking that you're working downtown and will mostly use this as a bedroom community; development has slowed around it, with nothing on the horizon - take that what you will. read more

Katherine was amazing on our move from Washington State to the Mastlight. We did everything via phone/email and it worked flawlessly. She kept in constant contact which also helped calm my nerves. She was professional and thorough and provided world class customer service. As for the apartment, it's above average with nice upgrades from most you'll see. Floors are a little thin but maybe the person above me walks on their heels, that's apartment living though. They have garbage valet that's free of charge that pics up your garbage right from your door. Nice area for packages and even a dog wash facility. Your apartment comes with a plastic key fob thingy that gets you into your apartment and to the building. And one last thing that is rare in apartments these days, lots of open uncovered parking! One bonus is that it's directly across from the old Navy Air Base and the runways are an excellent place to take a jog or walk without worrying about traffic. It's a little out of the way for shopping but it's right on the t line. My drive into/from DT Boston takes about an hour during rush hour. I would recommend the Mastlight. Fanstastic experience at The Mastlight. Katherine in the leasing office is excellent to deal with. She is always very quick to respond to any questions or concerns . Maintenance responds immediately if there are any requests. The grounds are well kept, the building is located walking distance to the train. Valet trash has completely spoiled me .. its awesome. I have never had any issues with noise , the building is pretty quiet. Ample parking, never an issue. Great pool and really nice sun deck. Highly recommend calling Mastlight home if your considering it. read more

I've been here several months and I am just not impressed. Although it's new construction i wouldn't call this luxury apartments due to the quality of the unit and area. My biggest frustration is the appliances. We have a large 2 bedroom with tons of closet space and pay a lot of money but whoever designed this place decided it would be best for a stackable washer and dryer?? I can't tell you how many times the washer has gotten stuck and we've been unable to open it because it locks. The water and clothes "imbalance " the machine and you have to literally keep pressing "start" 5-10 times over the course of 3-4 hours if you're lucky to get it to finish the cycle. The clothes come out so musty. It isn't a good quality washer machine. Secondly the stove ? It takes forever to cook anything... 15-20 minutes for eggs , chicken because the burners are so small, and heat distribution is horrible. Thirdly , the dishwasher never cleans dishes and they come out soaked, as if it doesn't dry them. Whether we put 5 dishes or pack them in, we are forever having to re clean them by hand and hand dry them. For the price we pay we expected nicer quality appliances. The landscape around the building is crusty. There is always long straw grass 1 foot tall that's never manicured, I've never seen a lawn mower come through all summer. There are no street lights on the side of the building when I walk my dog at night. The manager told me this was due to the town not allowing them? If they built a building I am sure they can install some lights off the building or on the side walk to make it more safe. Many of the residents don't leash their dogs or pick up after their bathroom ... I have to constantly restrain my pup when going for walks due to wild dogs running in the hall way which is annoying but that's more so the people who live here. Overall, it's OK. read more
