Having lived in 3 similar apartment communities in downtown Boston and a nearby competitor in Quincy over the past 10 years combined, I can tell you that the quality/professionalism of staffing and level of dedication/detail to this property is nearly second-to-none. The property manager is on their A-Game 24/7 and so is Leasing. These are some of the most hospitable team members I have ever been privileged to be a tenant under. Maintenance? They'll be at your door before you know it. This was such a game-changer compared to the level of services I received at another property proximate to this corridor on I-93. This staff really makes you feel like you're at home, always. This community feels more like owning/renting a townhouse than an apartment where you have to constantly worry about what goes on around you. You are safe here. This is the most comforting place I have lived since being in the Greater Boston area. It is a hidden gem if you enjoy golfing/visiting Granite Links, direct access to I-93, hiking in the Blue Hills Reservation, having a beautiful pool to bask in during warmer months, or care about having more privacy than a similar type of complex anywhere nearby. There's a reason I stay here and likely will - it's the staff and quality of living. You won't find that same level of dedication anywhere within 4 miles of proximity. Quarry Hills is the dream apartment community, basically, and a lot of that has to do with how well it's managed. The property is gated and secure, the grounds are immaculate and beautiful (especially the resort-like pool - this is not an exaggeration), and the gym has excellent equipment. Everything is managed logically, from the mailroom to the trash area, and any concerns are responded to immediately by mgmt. The manager Christine is extremely responsive and friendly, but more importantly, she has been with the property a long time and there isn't a problem she doesn't have a great solution for. Other apartment communities I've lived at had great amenities, but were ridiculously mismanaged and not maintained at all. I have almost 100 more square feet of space than I did elsewhere, plus my own garage. It's more like a townhouse setup than apartments. It's extremely convenient to the Expressway and right next to a world-class golf course with a restaurant and an outdoor bar. Bottom line: you're getting a huge amount of living space for the money, including (in some cases) a personal garage. The property is really well maintained, there are beautiful amenities, and extremely competent people managing things. You can focus on enjoying your beautiful apartment because you don't have to worry about much of anything. That's how smoothly it's run. I'm extremely happy here. read more

I moved into Quarry Hills about 2 months ago after living here 2 years prior. The moving process from my home to the apartment was very rushed and very stressful, but the office team was awesome. They walked through every question I had, and patiently went to about 6 different apartments while I decided on the one right for me. This is a dog-friendly community. I really can't speak highly enough of the office team. I had an issue with a water bill, dropped it off with Christine, and she resolved within the day. They go out of their way to be helpful and accomadating. read more

We have lived here for almost 3 years and really enjoy it! The office staff is very helpful and friendly. I cannot say enough about the maintenance team - they are friendly, polite, SO clean, and pretty quick to respond. We have had 2 fairly big maintenance issues in 3 years of living there (not that bad in my opinion) and the maintenance team kept us in the loop the entire time. I wish there was a little park for the kids though. There is a lot of green space which is nice but a little jungle gym or park would be huge our young son. Only complaint is rent goes up a lot each year but not surprised since Quincy is attracting new residents read more

We have lived here for over 1 year, and renewed for another. It is a great place. Great staff (Eric is my favorite), and nice buildings, grounds, and facilities. They work fast to correct any problems you are having, with infrastructure, or neighbors, etc. I have lived in many apartments in many parts of the country. After owning a very nice home for some years and relocating for work and family, we chose this as our transition residence. We have decided to stay longer, as it really is an enjoyable place to live. Rent is on the higher side- comparable to a mortgage payment for nice smaller home in the suburbs. read more

I have lived here 2 years. it is beautiful to look at - gorgeous landscaping, great snow removal, garages, granite kitchen and modern stainless appliances. It is pricey but they deliver great service and are dog-friendly. Living on the second floor may mean you are over garage doors and they open OFTEN and disturb you. Also apts facing the road mean you wake up OFTEN. They gym is gorgeous and there is a great computer and party room. Gorgeous pool too - I have the girls over often and they enjoy it. The best apartment I ever had in the Boston area. I lived here with my husband and young son for about a year while we looked for a house. The apartment complex is a mile off the road, so it is very private. Easy to get anywhere since the entrance to 93 north and south is just a mile away. I was worried about heating, since I have had bad experiences with poorly insulated buildings in Boston that left me freezing and with huge bills over the winter. The buildings are really well insulated, and the heating is subsidized (the halls are heated, and generously) so my utility bills were low too. We loved the mix of people who live and work at Quarry Hills. We chatted frequently with retirees, snow birds, singles, young couples, and other families. Lots of friendly people to interact with. The apartments are more setup like townhomes, so on days when I needed some space it was easy to enter through our garage and have privacy. We had a terraced first floor unit, so our entrance was on the first floor, but the unit itself was actually on the second floor. It was the perfect setup, to never have to walk upstairs with groceries or a baby. The landscaping and grounds are meticulously maintained and absolutely gorgeous. Rules about dog waste, parking and noise are strictly enforced and we loved that. Our experience with the staff, from office to maintenance, was a perfect 10. I literally had tears in my eyes when I handed in our keys and said goodbye. My only "complaint" is that there is no option to purchase any of these units. We might have stayed for a couple more years! read more

From the first time we spoke to Barbra about finding an apartment to the move in date, the entire team was extremely helpful and communicative. It took a couple months for us to find the perfect unit because they were going so quickly! But alas, we are here. I would strongly urge people looking for an apartment to look elsewhere. The local management team at the Quarry Hills Quincy location are among the worst you'll ever see in customer service, and good luck ever trying to get your security deposit back from them after you leave. I've been fighting them for a month to get an answer on why a multi-million dollar company tries to steal their tenants security deposits, in violation of MA landlord law, but they continue to stonewall me at ever turn. Quarry Hills Apartments makes living easy! Big walk in closets, good size rooms, a great gym and clubhouse with a pool that makes it feel like a resort. The staff is very accommodating and so helpful - I would stop in the office with my dog just to visit - my dog got very spoiled with all the attention and treats (she just loves "Auntie Barbara!". I thought we would be there about 1-2 years and it ended up going over 7! They have lovely events several times a year and it feels very safe. read more

They are now known as "Equity Apartments: Quarry Hills Apartments." Hmmm, deciding between a 2 star and a 3 star. I'll be nice. 3 it is. These are luxury condos with granite countertops and nice cabinets and stainless steel fridge and stove/oven. There's also a very nice fitness center and an outdoor west-facing pool with a couple of barbeques. It is a gated community (and you have to activate the gate open) but some guests decide they don't want to wait and tail in residents from time to time. There is great landscaping, snow removal, and leaf removal. I think most of the buildings are 3 levels and some of them have direct access to garage and others you do have to go outside. There was a business center with some computers. The property is a bit remote, about a mile up Ricciuti Drive from I93 so public transportation (the 238 and 215 buses) are a bit far away but not completely out of the question. Quincy Adams is about 3.5 miles away. Being remote, it is very quiet out there (you can't hear the highway, you can occasionally see deer and other wildlife, and there is a feral cat colony over at the Quincy Auto Auction across the street). I think there were plans for a zipline up in the quarry area and a state dispensary for drugs across the street. There is a central recycle and dump area, although it did break down like every other month. I believe they have 1-, 2-, and 3- bedroom condos. The longer the lease, the better your rate. The staff were very professional although they didn't have a ton of business sense. When you move out, you will be expected to thoroughly clean (oven, bathrooms, kitchen), fill in holes, take down all your stuff. Do not be late when turning in your keys -- even if you turn in your keys (say Saturday at 5pm), if a staff member did not receive them, you will be charged days until they were received by a staff member! http://www.equityapartments.com/massachusetts/south-boston-apartments/west-quincy/quarry-hills-apartments.aspx The downsides: #1. Archstone usually offers a first-year introductory deal and then the subsequent year, it jumps up. So you may think the rent is pretty good for the first year, but then aha, it will go up -- around 20% (back where we were in it was close to $500 from $2200 to $2700 for a two bed room). If you read other Archstone property reviews, you'll also find that is pretty common practice. #2. Because people don't stay long, while people can be 'cordial,' they aren't terribly interested in investing in friendships. In one year there, we may have gotten to know two people. So largely people don't want to get to know you, and they're just there to live there, short term. #3. Some people decided not to pick up after their dogs or did not walk their dog on a leash. This happened quite often. read more

As a member of this community, I can say with certainty that its by far the nicest apartment community around. I don't think there is a location anymore convenient seeing as the end of the road is 93- literally. As for "tattling on neighbors", personally, I take pride in where I live and if others don't and choose to make a mess of the place, you better believe I'm going to speak up about it and not bat an eye about doing so. It's expensive to live here, but it should be given the amenities. Between the in ground pool, full gym, full business center, banquet room, personal driveway and garage for every unit, snow removal, landscaping, etc. I don't know any place on the market that can top this community. I think the cost to live here keeps the community "professional" in nature. This isn't a place to live fresh out of college with a bunch of your friends. So if you want a beautiful view, quiet, respectable community, this is the place for you. If you want a party pad where people don't respect their neighbors or the space, I'd look elsewhere. This is our 3rd year here and there's not a place comparable, which is why we signed on again! Thanks Archstone Quarry Hills! I agree with Frank. I've been at the archstone for some time and found that with enough time the same issues come up. The neighbors suck, the manager is not nice at all. Eric and Julie are fantastic though. For a place that's 'dog friendly' they aren't very tolerant of dog issues. I would advise people not to rent here, it's way too over-priced, and not in a very convenient location. read more

Been here nine months (commuting couple). I don't understand Frank's review and comments whatsoever (I too am from Indiana and people there are like people here...okay to be honest Bostonians are more prickly!). It's a quiet community and no one is keeping a "eye" on anyone. Being premium priced it seems to appeal and older and quieter resident. The staff does a nice job organizing "meet the neighbor" events (around the pool, barbecues, Apple PC training, organizing group interest events, etc), though they are all totally optional. The grounds are beautifully maintained with a short walk to Blue Hills Reserve, a nice restaurant and golf course, and even a view of the Boston skyline (some units from afar). We considered and visited many complexes, and happily we chose a great place. read more

Quarry Hills was the best place to live, we felt at home! At the time my finance and I were looking for housing out of the city, it seemed to be geographically the right location for us. The people are so kind, it is very comfortable, extremely safe and convenient on/off the highway! We will miss Granite Links and all that quarry hills had to offer (I.e. Gym, mail station, business center, social events, etc.). We worked with Barbara and Morgan in the leasing office, they were so helpful and always looking to make your stays better. The grounds keeping crew was excellent, they came and fixed anything you needed immediately and were happy to do so. We were so sad to leave Quarry Hills, we decided to do a lease transfer and continue to stay with Equity Apartments in a different state!!!! Best Community Ever! My husband and I highly recommend Archstone Quarry Hills to anyone who is looking for an apartment in the Greater Boston area. The units are spacious and lovely with every amenity. The grounds are kept impeccably whether it is spring, summer, winter or fall! You are kept in touch with the office by email, you are able to log into your private Archstone website and leave messages for service that is always completed within hours by their staff and always performed with a smile and a kind word. The communication is exceptional and the service team is truly the " Best of Boston" . However; what sets Archstone Quarry Hills apart from other complexes, is their team of wonderful individuals who care about you. This is a community not an apartment complex. Way over-priced, no guest parking. Hallways and interior parts of the building are all banged up, walls disgusting. I had asked for a huge part of the wall in my hallway to be fixed for a whole year, brought it to managements attention 5-6 times nobody did anything. Also I have been getting my money stolen from me from National grid and the new tenant that moved into my unit did not turn on the gas into their name and I have called national grid and quarry hills and they wont do anything. Quarry hills needed to call national grid and have someone take responsibility for the gas bill. This is theft and nobody is helping me. I am filing a claim with the courts. I would stay away, for the money its not worth it. read more

I nothing negative to say about the facility itself, outside of the weak water pressure: the staff is friendly and responsive, the grounds, well maintained and the location, quite convenient for a Boston commute. I do have complaint though, and it's a big one: the yearly rent increases. When my partner and I first moved in, our rent for a 2bed/2bath plus den was $2527.00. After the first year, the rent increased to $2735.00. Had we opted to renew our lease for a third year, it would have been $2899.00 (we didn't). However, what really burned me, and is prompting this "1 star" recommendation, is that I just checked online, and our apartment is being offered for $2565.00 after we move out - $335.00 per month less than what our renewal offer was. So, if you're looking for a short term rental (one year) - the place is lovely. The office staff (Julie, Barbara, Eric and Stacy) are a delight, and the maintenance staff, responsive and dependable. Though it has been about a year since I've lived at Archstones Quarry Hills, I still find it one of the most pleasant places one can live. Quincy, itself, is not that great of a town... but Archstone is right on the milton line, not to mention basically connected to an amazing golf course. The staff for this community are absolutely the BEST! Stacy Holstrom - the manager when I lived at this community always informed residents via email of any community notices, she always knew everyones name and apartment number, and was a very pleasant person to deal with. Kristina and Jean were also great. The apartments themselves were nice. The ceiling height was impressive, I loved the garages for the apartments. The spring time at Archstone is beautiful! The landscaping is perfect and I loved taking my dog for frequent walks around the premises. Overall, I miss living here. It was fun, though now I am in downtown Boston and am adjacent to many things I need to be adjacent to. I really recommend looking at Archstone - the level of customer service along with amenities really justifies the more expensive monthly rent cost. Good Luck!! read more

This place is horrible... the people aren't nice, your neighbors aren't people you would want to know and overall it is over-priced and it under-delivers... To be more specific, they actually encourage you to keep an eye on your neighbors so you can report them to the office... I came from Indiana where we tend to mind our own business... this is too weird for me. I can hear my neighbor above me go to the bathroom, that's how thin the walls and ceilings are... the dumpster/compactor is guaranteed to break once a week and you get all this for a mere $2500+ a month. My husband and I walked in to look at an apartment. We're in the midst of relocating to Boston. When we walked into the leasing office, the associate was in discussions with a senior couple. She looked up, said hi to us, and then allowed us to wait for 20 minutes with no follow up. We ended up showing ourselves around lower level. Eventually we walked out and she still said nothing. Maybe she's not used to seeing young African American couples. None the less, we've visited at least 6 other complexes before this one and all treated us with kindness, respect, eagerness and hospitality. I'm sorry we wasted the time visiting Quarry Hills. read more
