We stopped here for breakfast and loved it, [[HIGHLIGHT]]the outside patio is beautiful and relaxing with a huge fountain as the centerpiece.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Staff is attentive and professional. The food was top quality and it's obviously a higher price point but worth it in my opinion,

This a sampling of breakfast sides we picked up to go.

We tried a breakfast sampling for takeout to enjoy in our room. It was prepared in about 10 minutes and placed in environmentally friendly cardboard boxes. The food was very good and by ordering sides we were able to get everything we wanted to share family style.

Food was great, [[HIGHLIGHT]]very charming atmosphere[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], service amazing. Reasonable priced and everyone loved their meal!

Best charcuterie board I've ever had.

Jackpot! We had just visited the Gibbs Museum's Rembrandt exhibit, and were walking to find a spot for a drink and a snack. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We happened upon the Iron Horse's cloistered patio. It was beautifully protected from the breeze, anchored by a fireplace on one side, and a beautiful fountain as the centerpiece[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. We ordered, and I received the best charcuterie board I've ever had. Our waiter was excellent, professional and friendly. When the sun went down, we asked that a propane heater be moved nearby, and he did so quickly, and fired it up. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We so enjoyed our whole experience - the background splashing of the fountain in the middle, the flickering fireplace on the far side, and the warm glow from our nearby patio heater[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Then the food came, and we savored our choices. Although not expensive, the quality and arraignment of our choices were top notch. We feel like we found a gem, and we'll be back. Give it a try.

We stopped in for lunch to escape the heat. The food was good, although the prices were a bit on the high side. The service was just okay, but overall it was a decent place to grab a meal.

I was thirsty and a little famished from trekking around Charleston all day, but had a while before my dinner reservation . . . so I stopped off at Iron Rose, which is housed in the Hilton Curio collection hotel, Mills House. The spot is open, light, airy. I came between lunch and dinner and sidled up to the bar. My server was Reilly for most of the evening and she was fast, warm, and personable. For food I had the pimento cheese, served with super savory applewood bacon and breadsticks as well as the charcuterie board. The pimento/bacon concoction was amazing, but would have been better served with some type of crusty toast rather than breadsticks and crackers. The charcuterie board was standard, but the meat and cheese were quality. I had the Soul Mate, which was made with mezcal, elderflower, rosewater, and hibiscus. Very refreshing and flavorful, a great flavor profile. My favorite drink of the night. I also had the Royale rose (reposado, pamplemousse, lime, agave), which was also light and easy to drink, but not as tasty as the Soul Mate. I finished with the sweet brier (rye whiskey, grapefruit, honey syrup, ginger beer), which wasn't bad, but unimpressive. They have a full lunch/brunch/dinner service here with burgers, chicken sandwiches, salads, steak frites, shrimp, scallops, pork, etc. But I just stopped in for the perfect bar bite.

We stayed at the Mills and came here for lunch with a $100 gift card. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The dining room was beautiful and we were sat in the back room area at a nice big booth because we had just checked out and had our things.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our server was very helpful in recommending things that were GF because of my hubby and she was so nice and attentive. Service overall was great. The food however, a bit underwhelming. I would say the pickled shrimp was the main thing we enjoyed. Fresh and was accompanied by a nice array of veggies and presented nicely. It was a bummer they didn't have a GF bun but they did have GF toast so he got that swapped out for his burger. Can't help that's how the burger looked but it tasted fine. The market catch was group and I was excited about this dish because I love corn and mushroom. There was one main flavor in this dish, GARLIC. I love garlic but every bite of that sweet corn puree was just garlic. It overwhelmed the entire dish. The fish wasn't seasoned much but I actually couldn't finish this dish and I'm not one to not finish my food or take with. We opted out for dessert since we had to head out, but overall it was just ok. Again service was wonderful but we're not sure if we'll be back for the food.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]this place was like stepping into a different country, especially if you sat outside. there was live music being played, a big fountain, a chill breeze, etc.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] for drinks, i got the aperol spritz and a lemon drop, they paired perfectly with the small bites we started off with. the potatoes (7/10), the asparagus (8/10), and the dip (9/10). for the main, i got the burger and it was cooked to perfection. there was so much flavor and the fries were so crunchy. the service was great! [[HIGHLIGHT]]the only thing i would critique on is that the menu is a bit small and you'll have to talk a bit louder when outside because of the music.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] but overall, i had such pleasure eating here!

Sips, bites, and Southern charm! Make sure to add happy hour at Iron Rose, inside the iconic pink hotel - Mills House, to your summer bucket list. Timeless cocktails and elevated small plates, starting as low as $5, play homage to the hotel's 170+ year history, available from 4-6pm daily. Cozy up in the courtyard, or take a seat at the bar. Service was great and everyone was so attentive.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]First time here, nice atmosphere, spacious tables, comfortable seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered a few different things, food was ok, most lacked flavor especially the chicken. Where my review comes in is the service - host wasn't friendly, manager making rounds as a task with dull energy and seemed annoyed, our server was running around sweating (they appeared understaffed) and no one was really helping him out even though there were people just standing around. Our drinks stayed on empty until we asked for another, I needed a knife for cutting the chicken and never got it, took way too long for our entrees to come out. I won't be back here.

Came for breakfast on a Tuesday and had a lovely experience. The restaurant is really beautiful and equipped with a nice bar area that I imagine gets busy in the evenings. We got iced vanilla lattes which were fine, the coffee and the hotel cafe is likely better. I really liked the egg white frittata - the goat cheese added a nice kick. My partner liked the tres leches French toast but it was nothing special - nice sweet treat that eats more like a dessert. Skip the chicken sausage - it wasn't great. Overall, solid breakfast option just wish the food was a tad more consistent and they had better specialty coffee. Service was great!

One tip: sit at the bar if you can, the set up is stunning especially for taking photos! The cocktail menu was moderately extensive with two full pages of complex and simple cocktails. Honestly, it was so difficult to choose what drink to get because I wanted to get everything on the menu. The bartenders were so attentive and talented - their implementation of each cocktail was even better than the menu descriptions. Not only were the drinks delicious but also beautifully presented. They have some bar bites as well as quite a few small and large plates, we got the pretzels which to my absolute surprise were so good! You can tell the bartenders know exactly what they're doing. The surprise star of the night, though, was the grilled cheese. Calling it a grilled cheese almost feels unfair because this thing was next-level. Perfectly crisp on the outside, rich and gooey on the inside, and paired with the cocktails so well that we were talking about it long after we left. Sometimes the simplest thing on a menu ends up stealing the show. The atmosphere strikes that perfect Charleston balance of classy, cozy, and effortlessly cool. Great service, great drinks, and one of the most memorable grilled cheese sandwiches I've ever had. If you're in Charleston and appreciate a serious cocktail program, The Gin Joint is a must-visit. Nice list of 3 mocktails so even if not consuming alcohol one can look to play the part at the table and enjoy the flavor notes of a well made cocktail. The first meal we had was a bit of a work/get together meal. We ordered an assortment of items off of the menu and created a more tapas menu. The charcuterie board we picked the cheeses for and it was lovely. All as expected and quite surprised to find a cheddar I enjoyed. Came with some grapes, figs, nuts, honey and I think mustard. Glazed carrots were phenomenal. Heartily enjoyed the beet salad and thought the presentation was quite pretty. Lamb lettuce wraps are alright. Not my favorite of all the dishes served but delivered as promised, nicely cooked and presented. Spouse really liked the lamb wraps and were a stand out dish to them. Meatballs are excellent truly great texture and flavor. Escargot was a fun take on a classic dish. Finished with a unique strudel in its presentation it was quite pleasant. Spouse liked the peanut butter chocolate dessert. For brunch, I had the carrot ginger soup. Which I must say was a total delight. The soup had the hallmark texture and base flavor of the carrot ginger but it had a beautiful breath of savory and some heat seasoning wise to it. It was quite an elevated soup and heartily enjoyed! I followed the carrot soup with a French toast. I am all for softly scrambled eggs but the French toast was a touch undercooked. (I did not let the restaurant know or give them the chance to make right. I regularly eat soft boiled eggs and soft scrambled so I felt comfortable with consuming them.) Strawberries were ripe and tasty. The whipped cream was gorgeous in thickness and flavor. One in law had the caesar salad with croutons and grilled chicken. Their bowl was left clean so while they are not the talkative of sorts they did seem to enjoy it. Ordered a baguette with butter. Unfortunately the butter never made it to the table but the baguette was enjoyed. Spouse had the Azur burger with the side of tapas style potatoes. All was cooked properly to temperature and texture. Flavor and taste as promised. Wasn't their favorite dish at Azur as we had tried so many lovely dishes a few evenings before. But it did deliver on what was represented in the menu. Other in law had the quiche and a side salad. They liked the quiche and would order it again.
