Baked Shrimp Scampi
Valdez M.

My better half & I happened to be downtown and was looking for a chill spot to grab a cocktail. We popped into JST and the whole vibe was solid. However, the highlight is when that big garage door is open and the whole spot has that breezy, Old Market open‑air energy that makes you want to stay awhile. Food wise- We split the Nebraska Burger and the Shrimp Scampi, and both were delicious. The burger had that perfect local‑beef richness everyone raves about, and the scampi was buttery, garlicky, and exactly what you want it to be. Zero misses. Drink wise- My better half ordered the Strawtini and immediately hit me with the "oh wow" face. She said it was amazing. I tried the Old Infusion, and it just wasn't for me... so I pivoted to a dirty martini, and that one landed perfectly. Clean, cold, and DIRTY dirty. Everything a dirty martini should be. Service wise- On point the whole time. Friendly, quick, and genuinely attentive. We'll definitely be popping back in when we're downtown this summer. Great food, great drinks, great service.

Best spot for delicious poutine in Omaha! A great place to grab a drink and have lunch or dinner! Love the poutine and the steak sandwich! We had great service and love the location! Can't wait to go back n

We had an exceptionally nice lunch. Service was friendly and attentive, restaurant was relatively quiet for mid afternoon. We enjoyed the charcuterie plate was which was really generous for two people. Pretty outdoor seating area works well during good weather. Metered Street parking is available but can be a little tight during busy times. Difficult these days to find a restaurant open during the day for a meal and Jackson Street Tavern is definitely a place to stop! We also had the ribeye, which was a very good meal that included mashed potatoes, sautéed mushrooms, and shoestring onion rings. Can you say : to go box?! Overall, a nice visit to an old haunt. A little bit of sticker shock for the price of the meal for two people, but I think that's just the general direction of things these days. Full bar service available as well as many N/A options. Highly recommend the Jackson Street Tavern !

We went Monday late afternoon and the front of the restaurant is roll top doors and they were open so it felt like an open air restaurant on the beautiful day. We go lunch food, burger and salad. The plates were quite huge and we had to take home 1/2 our meals. The burger is fresh made (not a frozen puck) and tasted nice and beefy. The salad was meal sized with quality toppings and freshly cooked fish. This restaurant was not crowded. If you find yourself in Old Market and want a relaxing meal, this is the place to go.

I came here for brunch with some friends and had a pleasant experience! We were seated indoors near the patio. I had seen some reviews mention the Nebraska burger, so I figured had to give it a try. Service was friendly and the burger was pretty flavorful. I'd be interested in trying other menu items in the future.

My husband and I stopped into Jackson Street Tavern after a day downtown, and we were so happy at the discovery! The whole ambiance was very homey and casual, with an exposed ceiling, wood panel walls, black and white photos, and industrial looking hanging lights. The staff were also really kind and chill and gave great recommendations. And the laid-back/cool vibe also translated to the food. Very hearty, big portions, and super tasty! We started with a Caesar Salad and the Poutine, and both were excellent. The Caesar was well dressed and large (we shared it), and the Poutine was also a big portion and had lots of toppings of a brown demi-glace gravy, cheese curds, and chives. Our entrees were also amazing: -My husband got the Jammin Salmon, which was a good size filet, topped with a jerk rub, pineapple mango salsa, and a side of jasmine rice - which sounds like a lot of different components, but all the flavors worked so well together! -I got the Gnocchi Saltimbocca (I'm a huge Gnocchi fan), and this dish was AWESOME. Proschiutto wrapped pieces of chicken, delicious béchamel sauce, and of course the pillowy gnocchi. It reminded me of a fancy version of the Chicken and Gnocchi from Jimi D's. It was so simiar that I Googled and found out the two are related restaurants! Love it. We were stuffed at this point, but had to top off our meal with something sweet, and we picked the Cinnamon Raisin Bread Pudding. We are both bread pudding fans, and this was one of the best we've had! Not too sweet in terms of the bread pudding portion, but topped with caramel, vanilla ice cream, and whipped cream - so definitely a nice dessert, but not overly sweet! If you're in the downtown area and looking for a nice local spot with great food at a nice price, give Jackson Street Tavern a try - you will definitely find something to fall in love with!

Nebraska burger with a side of poutine

Stopped in for dinner with friends on my last night in town. We ate on the patio and it was perfect weather with perfect service. We shared a platter of wings to start and I moved on to a Nebraska burger with a side of poutine for my main. The burger was huge and a bit under seasoned, but cooked a perfect medium. The Dogfish Head was served cold and the poutine was a generous portion.

I came here for dinner with some friends. It was my first time here. It was in the Blackstone area and the restaurant had a cool vibe. We came on a night after the dinner rush so it was not busy at all. We were seated immediately. Our waiter Zane came to our table and once he learned it was our first time, he gave us recommendations on the menu. I chose the spicy margarita which was excellent. It had a good amount of spice and I could also taste the alcohol. For my meal I got the ahi tuna, it was cooked perfectly. Zane checked on us multiple times and made sure we had everything we needed. This place had a laid back atmosphere, great staff and food and I will definitely be back.

Great spot for a large group! Came here with the whole extended family without a reservation and they were able to accommodate us without too much of a wait. Service was fine, especially for our big group. Food came out quickly and everyone got the correct order. We really enjoyed the salad and their charcuterie board with some lovely wine. Definitely would order the same food on our return visit - it was that good!!

Chicken Sandwich
Noah H.

Amazing, one of, if not the BEST chicken sandwiches I've had from a restaurant. So crispy and perfectly cooked, plus this thing was HUGE. We came on a Sunday night and were able to get seated extremely easily and were served extremely quickly. Always a cozy environment at JST!

Easy to find!

Downtown Omaha has a ton of choices, and each one has a little something different. Whether you want casual, bar & grille, or maybe a little upscale, you'll have good luck at Jackson Street Tavern. The menu alone has great range, even if that range isn't all that deep. But from Bolognese through seafood to the predictable steak specialities, there is something for most anyone. In a hurry, I chose some mac 'n cheese with a bleu cheese/chicken kicker and it was really solid. Creamy macaroni, great cheesy sauce, and coupled with a protein makes for an excellent plate. My lovely wife selected the shrimp tacos (and paired that unconventionally with killer sweet potato fries) and the tacos got it done. It's Nebraska, so the shrimp probably isn't as local as beef or pork options, but they were good all the same. Park on the street, if you can, and reserve ahead if you have the time. The service is friendly and attentive, pricing is a smidge high but aligned with the area, and the space is minimally decorated but still very tasteful. If the garage door is open to the street in nicer weather, then the space spills on to the patio to extend the vibe. Great space, good food, and a great spot.

Stopped in for lunch so glad we did. Service was spot on as was the food. I ordered the special soup of the day which was buffalo chicken. I do not like big pieces of chicken really I prefer shredded. However this was perfect. It had very small cubes of chicken and not too much of it, and the cream base was just right as far as spice level, and there was also some spinach thrown in which went well. Another person in my group had the French onion soup, which looked amazing and she really enjoyed it although she thought maybe a bit too much bread, but she said the taste was great. Another in our group ordered the Jojo salad with crispy chicken and was a much larger salad than anticipated, especially considering she ordered the small. Everything was very good. And service was amazing!

Great food and generous portions! The pork tenderloin sandwich is absolutely delicious. So flavorful and cooked perfectly. The draft beer selection is pretty decent. The vibe inside is cool, but the sidewalk dining is even better. This is the place to dine if you are looking for a chillax dining experience. I loved it!

Ambiance was nice and service was excellent. The chicken parmigiana was ok. Chicken breast needed to be tenderized or butterflied.

After a couple of minutes, I went back up to the counter and asked if they had already started making it, because I wanted to change my order. The kitchen was open, so I said to the cook, "Don't worry about it if you've already started. I know my indecision can impact people, and I don't want to be a problem." He looked at me and said, "No, it's totally fine. Would you like some veggies on the side?" "Yes, that would be amazing," I said, and walked back to my table... and burst into tears. It wasn't just what he said. It was the kind energy in his eyes. I felt someone who took pride in what he was making, and who genuinely wanted people to be happy. I found myself asking, why am I crying? Because in a world where so many people in power feel disconnected, where corporations can make us feel like numbers, being genuinely cared for in a small café reminded me how much I love humans. Most people have love in their hearts and are trying to share it in their own small ways. As the world cracks, these simple things are more meaningful than ever.

Actually, we enjoyed our meal and service so much we had dinner there twice. First off, the restaurant is really well designed inside. It's a really contemporary space with a great vibe. The service is exceptional (for dinner) and they go out of their way to take care of their guests. Then comes the cocktails, which were also quite excellent. And they have an extensive (VERY extensive) wine list! Impressive. The food is also (mostly) excellent. We dine in fine restaurants all over the world from Chicago to Paris to Tokyo and London and the food here was top quality, prepared exceptionally, and really delicious--largely due to their wood fire oven. I hadn't seen an oven like this since Grant Achatz's Roister/Fire in Chicago. I was very impressed. We started with Wood Fired Oysters, which were delicious. Their house corn bread and honey butter were also quite good. I normally don't care for corn bread but this was a really nice accompaniment. My wife and I shared the ribeye and truffle cava mac and cheese. Both were very good. On our second dinner we had Omaha Farmer's Board, a very good charcuterie and meats appetizer. But the Ricotta Agnolotti was our only complaint to this truly exceptional restaurant. The pasta dish felt like it was trying too hard to be fancy. A parmesan foam on top was cold, brining a nice hot dish down. The overall look of the plated dish was "overfull diaper." Not appetizing. The creme brûlée was very good. Overall, highly recommend this place as a steakhouse with an incredible wood fired grill. This place should be busier than when we went, to be sure. It deserves attention and it deserves to be recognized as one of the top restaurants in Omaha.
