We found Jackson Street Tavern on Yelp while looking for a place to eat that was 1. walkable to our hotel, and 2. would have hamburgers for the kids. This fit the bill so we walked over around 5pm one evening for an early dinner after spending the day exploring the zoo. When we arrived the place was pretty empty - think maybe two tables occupied, and the hostess asked us if we had a reservation. We did not, and honestly she seemed a bit put out for a bit. I kind of wondered if we were going to be able to eat in this empty restaurant, but alas she decided it was okay and we were seated. This is one of my pet peeves at restaurants. I know, I know, that there could have been a ton of business booked for later, but it's such a bad look to make such a big deal about reservations when the place is empty. Also - while it did start to fill it was by no means full by the time we left. At any rate, things perked up at that point and we all got seated, ordered drinks, food etc. and had a good time. The server was kind and thoughtful and the food was pretty tasty. I had the fish and chips and shared it with my husband as the entrees are a good size here. My six year old had the kids hamburger, though we did have a bit of a scare when the server said "your cheeseburger will be out soon!" we had a long wait on the kids meal and when she said cheeseburger I immediately said - "no cheese!" the menu item was described as a "hamburger" with no mention of cheese and our kid doesn't like cheese her burgers so that was a really close call. I sort of got the impression that server wasn't accustomed to kids, but when the burger came out it was right and even though she had to wait, my kiddo gave it two thumbs up. Overall this is a good pub style restaurant in Old Town. Nothing really to write home about, but they do have decent food and local beers which was all we really cared about after a long day at the zoo.

    Charcuterie Board

Jackson Street Tavern has a great neighborhood vibe and is a really enjoyable spot for dinner. The food was good overall, and the charcuterie board definitely hit the spot--it was a great way to start the meal. The steaks were flavorful, but they came out slightly more undercooked than expected. The prices are on the higher end, but the atmosphere and quality make it worth checking out. Overall, a solid experience, and I'd come back again.

My better half & I happened to be downtown and was looking for a chill spot to grab a cocktail. We popped into JST and the whole vibe was solid. However, the highlight is when that big garage door is open and the whole spot has that breezy, Old Market open‑air energy that makes you want to stay awhile. Food wise- We split the Nebraska Burger and the Shrimp Scampi, and both were delicious. The burger had that perfect local‑beef richness everyone raves about, and the scampi was buttery, garlicky, and exactly what you want it to be. Zero misses. Drink wise- My better half ordered the Strawtini and immediately hit me with the "oh wow" face. She said it was amazing. I tried the Old Infusion, and it just wasn't for me... so I pivoted to a dirty martini, and that one landed perfectly. Clean, cold, and DIRTY dirty. Everything a dirty martini should be. Service wise- On point the whole time. Friendly, quick, and genuinely attentive. We'll definitely be popping back in when we're downtown this summer. Great food, great drinks, great service.

On our way home from Clarinda, IA to fly out of Omaha to NJ we found the place in The Old Market area. The service is friendly, patient and knowledgeable. The place itself has indoor and outdoor sitting with a very tavern feel. Wood everything. There are TVs with sports on and the tables have mismatched chairs! So cool. And the food is made to order so have a drink while you wait. I had the JST Steak sandwich with sweet potatoes fries and my daughter had the Nebraska burger with house fries and both meals were delicious. So juicy, and the steak sandwich is a real steak not chopped up strips or slices. A+

Best spot for delicious poutine in Omaha! A great place to grab a drink and have lunch or dinner! Love the poutine and the steak sandwich! We had great service and love the location! Can't wait to go back n

We had an exceptionally nice lunch. Service was friendly and attentive, restaurant was relatively quiet for mid afternoon. We enjoyed the charcuterie plate was which was really generous for two people. Pretty outdoor seating area works well during good weather. Metered Street parking is available but can be a little tight during busy times. Difficult these days to find a restaurant open during the day for a meal and Jackson Street Tavern is definitely a place to stop! We also had the ribeye, which was a very good meal that included mashed potatoes, sautéed mushrooms, and shoestring onion rings. Can you say : to go box?! Overall, a nice visit to an old haunt. A little bit of sticker shock for the price of the meal for two people, but I think that's just the general direction of things these days. Full bar service available as well as many N/A options. Highly recommend the Jackson Street Tavern !

We went Monday late afternoon and the front of the restaurant is roll top doors and they were open so it felt like an open air restaurant on the beautiful day. We go lunch food, burger and salad. The plates were quite huge and we had to take home 1/2 our meals. The burger is fresh made (not a frozen puck) and tasted nice and beefy. The salad was meal sized with quality toppings and freshly cooked fish. This restaurant was not crowded. If you find yourself in Old Market and want a relaxing meal, this is the place to go.

My husband and I stopped into Jackson Street Tavern after a day downtown, and we were so happy at the discovery! The whole ambiance was very homey and casual, with an exposed ceiling, wood panel walls, black and white photos, and industrial looking hanging lights. The staff were also really kind and chill and gave great recommendations. And the laid-back/cool vibe also translated to the food. Very hearty, big portions, and super tasty! We started with a Caesar Salad and the Poutine, and both were excellent. The Caesar was well dressed and large (we shared it), and the Poutine was also a big portion and had lots of toppings of a brown demi-glace gravy, cheese curds, and chives. Our entrees were also amazing: -My husband got the Jammin Salmon, which was a good size filet, topped with a jerk rub, pineapple mango salsa, and a side of jasmine rice - which sounds like a lot of different components, but all the flavors worked so well together! -I got the Gnocchi Saltimbocca (I'm a huge Gnocchi fan), and this dish was AWESOME. Proschiutto wrapped pieces of chicken, delicious béchamel sauce, and of course the pillowy gnocchi. It reminded me of a fancy version of the Chicken and Gnocchi from Jimi D's. It was so simiar that I Googled and found out the two are related restaurants! Love it. We were stuffed at this point, but had to top off our meal with something sweet, and we picked the Cinnamon Raisin Bread Pudding. We are both bread pudding fans, and this was one of the best we've had! Not too sweet in terms of the bread pudding portion, but topped with caramel, vanilla ice cream, and whipped cream - so definitely a nice dessert, but not overly sweet! If you're in the downtown area and looking for a nice local spot with great food at a nice price, give Jackson Street Tavern a try - you will definitely find something to fall in love with!

Nebraska burger with a side of poutine

Stopped in for dinner with friends on my last night in town. We ate on the patio and it was perfect weather with perfect service. We shared a platter of wings to start and I moved on to a Nebraska burger with a side of poutine for my main. The burger was huge and a bit under seasoned, but cooked a perfect medium. The Dogfish Head was served cold and the poutine was a generous portion.

Tavern Reuben w/ hand out fries

Great at atmosphere and friendly, attentive staff. Super laid back. Best Reuben I've had in awhile. I wish the fries were done a little more with some crisp, but I'm not going to let that ruin a review. Boss had the Nebraska Burger -woth a very meaty patty, bacon and melty cheese. He concured on the fries. Our associate had the Caesar salad, which came with an odd offering of added strawberries, blueberries and almonds. He actually raved about it. We also split the poutine that was good, bit the fries struggled to hold up. Still, would have no issues returning or recommending Jackson's.

I came here for dinner with some friends. It was my first time here. It was in the Blackstone area and the restaurant had a cool vibe. We came on a night after the dinner rush so it was not busy at all. We were seated immediately. Our waiter Zane came to our table and once he learned it was our first time, he gave us recommendations on the menu. I chose the spicy margarita which was excellent. It had a good amount of spice and I could also taste the alcohol. For my meal I got the ahi tuna, it was cooked perfectly. Zane checked on us multiple times and made sure we had everything we needed. This place had a laid back atmosphere, great staff and food and I will definitely be back.

Great spot for a large group! Came here with the whole extended family without a reservation and they were able to accommodate us without too much of a wait. Service was fine, especially for our big group. Food came out quickly and everyone got the correct order. We really enjoyed the salad and their charcuterie board with some lovely wine. Definitely would order the same food on our return visit - it was that good!!

Amazing, one of, if not the BEST chicken sandwiches I've had from a restaurant. So crispy and perfectly cooked, plus this thing was HUGE. We came on a Sunday night and were able to get seated extremely easily and were served extremely quickly. Always a cozy environment at JST!

Ok the other hand, the service is rather iffy & unpredictable. The chicken & waffles is my go-to for each visit, and they have many types of delicious sides to choose from, with my favorites being the biscuits & berries, goat cheese grits, and also the fried green tomatoes. I have zero problems with the food that they serve here, they always do an excellent job at preparing whatever they need to prepare & the portions are always satisfactory. As for the service, there are days where you will receive perfect service while on others the service is not so great. Some days you will be attended to in a timely manner, while there is other days where there isn't anyone available or willing to seat you somewhere. I've also experienced instances where they didn't attend to our table to take orders until I made a complaint. Most of these instances were during days where the place was virtually empty so it's not because of the place being busy. I've also ordered take out from here before, again some instances are perfect and there's other instances where they don't tell you if a certain food is out of stock via text or call so if you ordered something that isn't in stock, you're forced to wait for them to prepare something else once you arrive to pick up your order. They also don't always include syrup or butter in the takeout bags for chicken & waffles. One minor thing I'm also disappointed about is how the portion of grits has lessened over time, going from being served in a bowl to instead being served in a small cup/mug. Overall, I certainly don't return for the service because you never really know if it's going to be a good day or a bad day for that. It's always the food that brings me back. I do want to like this place, and I do to an extent but again the service is always unpredictable. I'd still say the food is worth coming here to see how it goes.

Actually, we enjoyed our meal and service so much we had dinner there twice. First off, the restaurant is really well designed inside. It's a really contemporary space with a great vibe. The service is exceptional (for dinner) and they go out of their way to take care of their guests. Then comes the cocktails, which were also quite excellent. And they have an extensive (VERY extensive) wine list! Impressive. The food is also (mostly) excellent. We dine in fine restaurants all over the world from Chicago to Paris to Tokyo and London and the food here was top quality, prepared exceptionally, and really delicious--largely due to their wood fire oven. I hadn't seen an oven like this since Grant Achatz's Roister/Fire in Chicago. I was very impressed. We started with Wood Fired Oysters, which were delicious. Their house corn bread and honey butter were also quite good. I normally don't care for corn bread but this was a really nice accompaniment. My wife and I shared the ribeye and truffle cava mac and cheese. Both were very good. On our second dinner we had Omaha Farmer's Board, a very good charcuterie and meats appetizer. But the Ricotta Agnolotti was our only complaint to this truly exceptional restaurant. The pasta dish felt like it was trying too hard to be fancy. A parmesan foam on top was cold, brining a nice hot dish down. The overall look of the plated dish was "overfull diaper." Not appetizing. The creme brûlée was very good. Overall, highly recommend this place as a steakhouse with an incredible wood fired grill. This place should be busier than when we went, to be sure. It deserves attention and it deserves to be recognized as one of the top restaurants in Omaha.
