Stopped in here a few weeks ago while walking back and it is definitely a cool spot. It has a full market inside with grocery items, wine, beer, and a lot of prepared foods. They also have a counter where they have a full menu of hot food items. I tried one of their steak tip sandwiches and enjoyed it. Well we received one their flyers in the mail . Well I arrived I noticed that was limited parking and paid parking on the street . When I walked in side the place is super clean and updated sorta a fancy butchers shop comparable to Whole Foods . The prices are also comparable to Whole Foods . We bought a few spices and dry rubs for our meats, chicken dip that was a bit tasteless, a sandwich roast beef which was ok not that great, to much tomato and lettuce not enough roast beef which need some flavor ! You know how there are certain foods and smells that just make you start salivating immediately? Well, the thought of the sandwiches at Meat House do that to me. The first time I went, I had their Supreme BLT. The name sounds a bit lofty and is perhaps a bit pedestrian to some, but I have to say, it's far and above the best version I've ever had. Thick warm bacon, cool lettuce and tomatoes, avocado, and a delicious garlicky aioli. I ate it in my car and must have been a real sight to see, because I practically made love to that thing. It was that good. The second time I went, I opted for their Cuban. Again, the best version of that sandwich I've ever had. This thing was like an orgasm on bread. I don't even know where to start, but suffice it to say that all the ingredients were exploding like a symphony of savory wonder. Thank goodness no one filmed me eating it, that would definitely have been embarrassing. On top of the incredible sandwich menu at Meat House, they also offer a pretty impressive assortment of groceries, a custom salad bar, fantastic butcher counter with steaks and chops galore, beer and wine, etc. Sort of feels like a specialty market on steroids. From the minute you walk in you realize that you are here for an experience along with some great food and locally bottled drinks. The Meat House Is a Neighborhood Butcher shop which offers amazing quality of meats, from aged dried beef, fresh fish, poultry, and pork. Everything is custom cut to order. If there is a specific meat you would like and they don't have it, The Meat House will order it for you(.example:rattlesnake) They have marinated raw meats and shish kabobs which can also be purchased. Besides meats they also make wonderful sandwiches, from chicken n broccoli rabe panini, smoked ham n brie,slow roasted pork loin,fresh fish sandwich, and my personal favorite The Steak Tip sandwich. This sandwich is loaded with pieces of Steak Tips marinated and grilled on a large garlic buttered n toasted hero roll. You can personalize it any way you want. I got roasted peppers, onions, salt ,pepper, provolone and balsamic. To accompany it i added the Deep River rosemary kettle style chips, and" Mash" ripe mango and blood orange soda.. This sandwich was really good, the steak Tips were tender and juicy and the vegetables along with the balsamic dressing was the perfect touch for $7.49. After i placed my order and while waiting i decided to stroll around the store. I came upon four large kettles. Two of them had gourmet flavored olive oils from Greece. They have Garlic and Raspberry. There are also flavored Balsamic vinegar's imported from Italy such as Berry.A nice gentleman who works there came over and gave us fresh Italian bread pieces so we could sample any of the oils or balsamic vinegar's. Oh! I was in heaven! I could just imagine a wonderful salad, or meat using these products. I continued over to the dairy and freezer section. They sell locally grown eggs, and have reg. and chocolate milk in old fashioned glass bottles.They had very unusual flavors of natural sodas. In the freezer they sell homemade ravioli's in gift wrapped boxes, and Turkey Potpies. You can purchase ready made sandwiches . There is a salad bar with three choices of lettuce, and you can add grilled chicken and any of their vegetable add- in, and top it off with a choice of homemade dressing. They sell many varieties of fresh fish and they have a lobster tank so you can pick your own fresh lobster. I liked that they sell locally grown produce so while picking up your meat or fish you can add fresh vegetables too. The staff are extremely friendly, and will explain any meat, or help with any details. They are all in black uniforms so their easy to spot. The Meat House sells an assortment of different homemade desserts from Chocolate Lava cake, Vanilla Bean Cheesecake, Carrot Cake, Red velvet Cake, cupcakes and cookies all supplied by local bakeries. The Meat House opened 3 days ago and I have now been three times. The first time I went in, I got a "321" sandwich from the deli counter and it was great, and for only $8.00 in Summit, it was big enough for 2 lunches. The rest of the menu looks great, we had some people come over the next day and they were hungry so they got a Chicken Caesar Wrap and a couple other sandwiches and they all loved them. The other time we were in we picked up some Burger supplies for dinner (Ground beef, buns, tomatoes, cheese, onions) and we were really happy with the quality and pricing. The burgers were really juicy, even though I over cooked them on the grill. They also gave us a sample of their Beef tips in the house marinade and I threw that on the grill too-- wow. just wow. Absolutely delicious. The store is walking distance for me but you can park on the street, or there is a free lot in the back that you can access on Summit Ave (Behind Food) and there is a back door you can walk in through. My review would be 2-stars, but the quality of their meats is generally excellent. There are certain butchers who do a really good job with customer service even when the place is very busy, but there are times when I go in here and wonder who is managing. Totally hit or miss. If I ask you to cryo package my meats, then you should. If you prepare my order in paper and a plastic bag and think I forgot, you are wrong. The deli area can be a bit slow. I've waited 15-18 minutes with no line for a basic cold sandwich. Think about this for a second if you are the owner reading this: 15 to 20 minutes to make order 2-3 minutes for a cashier to arrive at the register (since they are not there when there is no line) Another 2-3 minutes to pay for my order after the cashier arrives and looks up my rewards. Not good and would hate to see you go under when your food quality is pretty good. read more

Midnight Cowboy - Grilled Roast Beef, Caramelized Onions, Blue Cheese Crumbles, and Onion Garlic Jam on a Toasted Ciabatta Roll - Yes, it is as good as it sounds. Chickacon - Grilled Chicken Breast and Thick Cut Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato, Onion, Melted Cheddar and Mayo on Toasted Sourdough - One of the best Chicken Cutlet sandwiches I have had. Big and tasty. I really want to pick up some steaks here - not cheap but you can see that the quality is in everything they do. First time customer. Wanted some pork chops. Service at Butcher was excellent. Purchased a Few other items. The meat was great. There is a decent selection of well priced wines and just the right amount of other staples one might need. I like a shop that saves me a trip to the grocery store without feeling I am being overcharged. The only negative was right before I went to check out, I stopped at the deli counter. (Someone else wrote a review that pretty much summed up my experience. I didn't even a sandwich, just 3/4 pound of swiss.) There were three people behind the deli counter. Two were having a conversation. The third person seemed like he might wait on me, but instead picked up the telephone. Hello!?! Am I invisible? I manage to get the attention of one of the other two people and place my order. I go on the check out line across from the deli, tell the cashier I am waiting for swiss cheese from the deli. But they never fulfilled the order. I was sort of "hangary" and might have left unhappy but the catering manager saved the day with an excellent Customer Service Intervention! I'll be back. I came here last week and got a mozzarella and prosciutto hero. It was really good. I also got a loaf of bread from the grocery section, which went completely moldy in two days so I returned it. They were apologetic and nice about the return. Before today, I thought the Meat House was really good, but not amazing. Today, my life changed. I tried a bite of my coworkers "Fire Dancer" sandwich because it looked delicious. I was not disappointed. I am not kidding when I tell you it was the best bite of sandwich I've ever had. How bout an update? It's been almost two years that I first paid a visit to the Meat House. Since that first visit when I enjoyed their famous Tri Tip with a kick sandwich, I have returned several times for aged beef. Aged rib steaks and porterhouse. Unbelievable. I will never, willingly, buy supermarket beef again. Nothing can compare to a slab of aged beef on the grill or seared quickly in my cast iron skillet. I'd be remiss if I did not mention again that The Meat House carries a full line of interesting condiments, dried pasta and amazingly fresh seafood. The sandwiches still kick ass also. We are foodies and very fussy. We have been looking for a new place to buy meat. We FINALLY found a place to keep us happy! The marinated Steak Tips are incredible! I'm not a "meat" girl, but this is one of my favorite little places to head to when I want to make a nice meal. With a full selection fresh meats and poultry, not to mention a whole seafood section, fresh veggies, wines and cheeses, cold cuts, fresh salads, marinades and much more, it's more than just a meat shop. The meat was great (we ordered three kinds) and the fish was incredible. I got halibut, which is not something I would normally order and they suggested a homemade marinade of mango teriyaki. I was sure I wouldn't like it but it was delicious. I still think about it. They took time to offer recommendations and also provided us with their house marinades for the steaks. I absolutely love the Meat House. I have been a customer for about 5 years now. Their weekday salad bar makes for an incredible lunch (or dinner!) with nearly unlimited options as to toppings. Make sure to try the Basil Vinaigrette! The sandwiches (especially the Steak Tip sandwich) may just change your life. Some specialty grocery items can be a bit expensive, but the unique, healthy options are seldom available elsewhere. Gluten-free raviolis are something I never thought I would find!! Food is great, butcher area is awesome. The service at the deli is atrocious. They're decent at taking your order. But then be prepared to wait minimum 10-15 full minutes for a simple sandwich. They're disorganized and have no idea how to run a line efficiently - constantly asking each other who did what. I absolutely love the Meat House and have been going for almost 5 years. The small-town feel and welcoming staff make the trip a pleasant experience. Their salad bar that is open on weekdays is amazing - build your own, with a variety of topping for the lowest salad price I have seen. Try the basil vinaigrette dressing!! What a disappointment. We are new to the neighborhood, and are looking for a new butcher. We found a coupon for this place and decided to check it out. Though the prices are steep, the quality looked good. The butcher, Scott, behind the meat counter was incredibly helpful and friendly, and answered all of our questions about placing upcoming holiday orders. We thought we'd found our new spot, and then we got to the register where all that changed. The woman ringing us up ruined the whole experience. She refused to accept the coupon, claiming an error that was all the printer's fault. No apology, no concession. She was just rude and abrasive, as if we'd done something wrong. Someone needs to teach her some customer service before she loses the business more patrons. First impressions are lasting. The Meat House, located right on Springfield Ave, is a very cool place. There selection is awesome. Tons of different fresh meats, seafood, deli sandwiches, prepared hot foods, cold cuts, etc. You get the picture. They have almost everything. Prices are a little on the steep side but you're definitely getting some very good quality when you come here. They also have a very good craft beer selection. You can also mix and match to make different 6 packs. This place fits perfectly in downtown Summit and is always pretty busy whenever we stop in (which is usually on the weekends). I walk into this place at least twice a week and everyone is more than happy to help you with anything you need or any questions you have. This seems to be a rarity nowadays. When you visit this restaurant for the first time, there is a checklist of things I frequently do here. 1. Make my steak tip sandwich order. This will take a couple minutes since they cook it to order. FYI, the steak tip meat is what made this store a hit when it first started. 2. Walk around and taste from the many samples of food they have. You can sample some of the different type of meats they prepare, breads and gourmet oils, chips and salsa and sometimes they'll have slices of sandwiches you can try. 3. Take a look at the meat at the butcher area and order steak or chicken to cook for the week. Quick tip: I'm not sure if they still do this, but if this is your first time here, let them know and ask them if you can get one of their raw steak tips to go!
