To start with on the rating y beautiful wife & I are feeling generous by giving this a 3 after our dining experience last night. We were seated promptly & really liked the decor. Then we waited to be noticed by the wait staff. And we waited, and waited. It took 17 minutes before anyone came to our table. We would have left but we had a $50 gift certificate to use. Finally someone came over. We ordered teas & an appetizer of flaming saganaki. We found it very tasty. For entered I ordered the Greek meatball sandwich. My wife got a cup of egg lemon bowl ( which is a soup she loves) & Keftethes ( with beef meatballs). I found the fries god & the meatballs & bread decent but the sauce was a little off to me which greatly reduced my enjoyment. It was just ok. My wife thought the soup was a bit thin but overall god with a strong lemon flavor. Her entree the meatballs were good, the green beans were cold & the roasted potatoes were decent. Overall she was meh. We ordered desserts to go. Baklava, Galaktoboureko ( custard in philo dough) & Oreo cake. Wife thought the baklava had an overpowering cinnamon taste which hurt it. The Galaktoboureko was basically sugar cream pie with philo crust. I thought it was ok but wife thought it should have been thinner. She also believes the to go containers aren't sufficient for these desserts due to the sugar syrup. The "Oreo cake" had one cookie to the side & was dry. When we gave the waitress our gift certificate she said they would take that off when they rang up the bill. She came back & the gift certificates were not taken off. I pointed this out to her & she went back to talk to whoever is running the register. When she came back she said she has no idea what's going on but they gave me a $50 bill to credit the $50 in gift certificates. My amazing wife surmised that they credited someone else's bill & gave us the $50 to make it right for us. This was a nice spot for Greek food. Came here with a friend and on Wednesday's they have live music, that's a plus. The ambiance inside is really nice. Our server was very friendly. For the size of the restaurant, I thought it was odd that they only had 1 restroom designated for a woman. I feel like during busy times, that could be a problem. The bar area looked really cooled. They offer outside seating which I was informed have heaters during the cold weather. I ordered a seasonal drink - caramel apple mule- and it was good, on the sweeter side. For the appetizer we got the famous OPA flaming saganaki. This was good. The presentation is really cool because they flame it up, and I like fire! I was told if you live in the area they always have coupons for this appetizer. I ordered the keftethes which are Greek meatballs, they have options to get in beef or chicken, so I got both. I don't know how this place is rated as highly as it is. Quite frankly, the entire experience was bad. The service was mid at best, but that's a non-issue for me. They have a spacious patio and the overall ambiance is nice. I don't know what part of this is "oven roasted" or "lamb," but all I can say is that this entire meal was unpalatable. read more

I recently ate at Opa for the first time and was happy to experience another good Greek food option. I ordered the combo platter that literally has one of each of the main items they serve here for dinner. Its got Patistios, Dolamides, Mousaka, Gyros, Spinokapita potatoes pita green beans and tice. Wow thats a lot. I was only able to eat the green beans Spinokapita and half my gyros while there as it is a lot of food count on leftovers. Its a good deal though at $28 for what is probably three meals for me. The gyros are thicker cut and tasted good on the pita with the Tzakiti sauce. The service was fairly quick and attentive checking back in on us during our visit. I asked for take home container to box up my leftovers and hade more gyros and rice for lunch and still have more left for another meal amazing. Will be back to try other greek delights as its one of my favorite cusisines. read more

First off, I love the flaming cheese. It is a must have and there's usually a coupon somewhere in any flyer to get that if you buy an entree. The food comes out fast and hot. The only disappointing thing is that they now charge a 4% credit card fee so if possible I recommend bringing cash. This is definitely new. . There is plenty of seating for large groups or small. They even have a bar area to order specialty cocktails that look delicious. The staff is usually attentive as long as they're not too busy . One of the other disappointing things was, I asked for a side of ranch to dip my fries and and I got this packet of ranch, which was separated even after I shook it up. We met here for a Saturday family lunch. They are always so friendly and welcoming. They menu is quite large with many good choices. I chose the Greek salad with a gyro pita sandwich. 3.5! Opa is an older restaurant located at the far west end of Rockville Rd. We visited late afternoon on a Wednesday. The restaurant was partially empty and we had attentive service. I got the spicy feta shrimp pasta and thought it was just okay. I then asked for the lemony Alfredo sauce and poured it over the top. It gave it a little more flavor. I boxed it up for a to go and I can say it was better the next day. My sister tried the chicken gyro amd thought it was okay as well. Overall it was okay and we might go back and try something else. When you walk into OPA you feel like you're in Greece in a quaint cafe. It took us a while to be seated and there was hardly anyone in the restaurant. It starts with a friendly greeting from the staff and the anticipation of starting with their flaming cheese and a big side of authentic Greek olives. The hardest decision is what we are going enjoy for our meal. Love their Greek spaghetti topped with gyro meat and as much cheese as one can sprinkle on top. We have past this place several times and decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed. The Greek salad was pretty good. It is not my go to salad by far but I had zero complaints about it. The gyros meat platter was absolutely delicious. It is hard in America to replicate an authentic gyro but this restaurant gets it pretty close. My wife had the chicken gyro platter and we both left with full bellies! The restaurant is very relaxing, even for a Friday evening it was just a relaxed crowd and great ambiance. OPA! Is one of my favorite places in Avon. I've been there several times and the outcome is the same. Amazing food, great service and Ambiance and decor to make you feel closer to Greece. So, this time we had the flaming saganaki as appetizer and it was delicious it came out fast and of course very hot. My chicken breast platter was UNBELIEVABLE everything was so tasty and I additionally had the pork tenderloin that was just as good. Definitely recommend! I was there for lunch, so it wasn't as packed, but for dinner it normally is, even during weekdays. However, I've never had any issues finding parking right outside of the restaurant. Ambiance was great for us. We really like this Greek restaurant. The service was good as well as to be attentive. However I ordered the Gyro thinking it should be outstanding but not the case. They come with rice Greek potato's and green beans. The green beans were cold and our waitress replaced them and they were hot. I would have expected the gyros to be tender but they were thick sliced and not tender at all. Amazing and affordable Greek food! We started with the saganaki which was fun to watch them light it up, and tasted really good. My entree was the chicken gyro which was only ~$15 and came with chips, but upgrading to the fries was worth it (so crispy!). Came to Opa with some friends for dinner and I was pleasantly surprised. The minute I walked in I couldn't help but feel like I had been transported to Santorini with all of the decor. The ambiance felt so warm and inviting. As we quickly took our seats I was very happy with the service as our waiter was quite prompt and attentive. We decided to get the Flaming Saganaki as a starter for the day experience and I ordered a gyro. The Saganaki was definitely an experience and equally delicious (cheesy and lemony all at the same time!) We don't usually get out west often however after an appointment we decided to give Opa a try and I'm so glad we did. We were there in between lunch and dinner so it wasn't too busy. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. She spaced our courses out perfectly. The ambiance is casual and laid back with a classy touch We ordered the cold sampler which consisted of perfectly smooth hummus, tzatziki which was creamy and wonderful flavor, the other item I can't remember the name but it had a light garlic taste and has to consistency of mashed potatoes this is served with pita, Domas, cucumber, tomato, onion, olives with lots, and feta cheese. Flaming cheese served table side with pita just like I remember having it at an island restaurant. Gyro platter: meat was seasoned well and tender would highly recommend. Served with a Greek side salad, potatoes which have a hint of lemon to them, green beans which I honestly didn't care for as they were cold and have tomatoes in them, rice was really good as well. Combo platter gives you a sample of almost everything on the first list of entrees on the menu. Too many to name but honestly this is the best value for your money and would be enough to share as well. You'll see previous good reviews from me for this place. Tonight, they have lost me as a customer. Came for dinner and they served my fiancé rice with a whole bay leaf still in it. Anyone who knows anything about cooking knows you don't leave whole bay leaves in food. Long story short, he choked, had to gag and cough vomit to get this out of his throat. The manager DID. NOT. CARE. He acknowledged it was an error from the kitchen; but refused to do anything about it. He grabbed the plate immediately and then when we asked for the meal to be taken off the bill, he got in my face and told me he "owns a restaurant and it's just a spice". Yes, it's just a spice. 30 seconds on Google will tell you they are dangerous due to choking and intestinal damage if eaten whole. Everyone knows you remove them before serving. Errors happen. The way they are handled, however, makes or breaks whether you get repeat customers. read more

They used to have a beautiful salad with fresh lettuce,tomatoes, green pepper, feta and Kalamata olives. OPA is a nice casual spot in Avon. They have an extensive menu with Greek basics you'd know plus some you might not. We went with the Dolmades appetizer which was a nice portion and excellent. I had the Village salad which was huge. Very fresh and lots of pita. You'll be taking some home. We also had the Spanikopita which was 2 large pieces with a salad. It was a great choice. I was surprised with the number of desserts. Traditional like baklava and Tiramisu and cakes such as German Chocolate and Red Velvet. We had a party of 8, including 2 young children. Our server was very stressed, as the restaurant was pretty busy, and we appreciated her attentiveness. The restaurant itself is nice, and very clean. My husband and I went for the first time today and the food was fantastic. The portions were so large that we could only eat half of our meals but have plenty to enjoy later. There's not a ton of parking but I went for lunch so I don't know what the dinner situation looks like. The decor is very inviting and traditional. The bartender who served me made sure I could watch the basketball game and made sure I had everything I needed. She was awesome. I ordered the gyro plate with salad. Ya'll....I absolutely housed this plate of food. It was so good. The meat was season and cooked perfectly. The salad had just the right amount of feta and it was dressed just right.
