This has got to be the crappiest location out of all of the The Melt's locations. Every time I come here, I stand at the pick up window and no one bothers to help or acknowledge customers. The workers lock eyes with you and don't say sh*t. Today during lunch time, I stood there for 3 minutes and not one word from anyone. A lady behind me decides to just reach in and grab her order because no one wanted to help. I've been to other Melt locations, like the one at 925 Market and the old Melt at the Embarcadero Center, and the service at those locations have always been superb. If The Melt decides to downsize and close locations, this spot should be the first on the list. read more

I ordered through DoorDash (which I rarely do), and the food still arrived fresh, hot, and just as delicious as if I were dining in. That level of consistency and quality is why I keep coming back. After a day of touring San Francisco, all we wanted to do was grab something quick near our hotel in Oakland. This place advertises their specialties as burgers and mac and cheese. Sounded great to us. Getting here was easy. We found street parking nearby. At certain times of the day this will cost you. Customer service was excellent from start to finish. The star of the show was Dennis getting people's orders out and interacting with all the customers. This guy needs a raise! So they have everything from burgers, chicken sandwiches, melts, mac and cheese, soups, salads and dessert. I was torn between items and ended up getting the Spicy Mission. I made the mistake of getting a double since I thought they were smash style burgers. This thing was massive. I had to knife and fork it. The meat was cooked to my liking and seasoned to perfection. The addition of fresh jalapenos is what really gave them high ratings. I hate pickled jalapenos. This burger packed heat as well as flavor. Delicious! The fries were fries but good. We finished off the meal with a delicious shake that was a great way to end the meal and go to bed. I'm not from the area, but wouldn't think twice about coming back if I'm in the area. read more

The food is fairly consistently good. The fact that this place is open late is a plus... sort of. I have seen some of the weirdest stuff happen inside and directly outside of this restaurant. The drama doesn't come from the staff, but the "customers" who tend to visit venues like this at 1AM. My suggestion is get the order to go. Delicious and fabulous service. We were warmly greeted by the manager who took our order at the register. It was my first time and I asked what she recommended. She said the original Melt burger is great but her favorite is the mushroom burger so I went with that. It was tasty. I really liked the mushrooms, aioli and Swiss cheese on the burger. We got the garlic fries and they were great. Everything was delicious. We sat inside at the restaurant and they came around and offered us a cookie sample which was yummy. We will go back again. Right when I opened the box I'm already impressed with the size of the burger. There was a piece of bacon sticking out, I thought it was gonna fall out so I tried to tuck it in the burger. Didn't need to because the bacon was melted into the cheese and didn't budge at all. The first bite was so savory as the patty was cooked perfectly and the flavors of the bbq sauce with the glazed bacon made the burger juicy and tender. Every bite got better and better. We had a large order and placed it for 5pm, but got a text at 430 saying it was ready which is didnt love assuming it Sat there for a bit before I was able to pick it up. Aside from that, the patty melt was amazing, and the Mac daddy which is just a carb and cheese dish inside another carb and cheese dish, was surprisingly amazing. It wasn't too dry, but the bread was still crispy. The addition of the bacon was great as it gives it another flavor as well. The Melt has a lot of options for great melt-style sandwiches and burgers! I only got melts in my order, but everything looked pretty good on the menu! I ordered to go, and the big screens were easy to navigate and my order was easy to pick up once they called my name. It's right in downtown Oakland, near the Lake which is a relatively nice area to walk around in. The food itself was pretty good, although I think I was craving more after each one. The patty melt had the most going for it in terms of satisfying flavor, but the Italian job and three cheese tasted more just like a regular grilled cheese. For the price of a full double burger at most places, it left me wanting more in terms of flavor, but the portions are definitely very bit which I appreciated! Overall the melt is a good spot to go if you're craving grilled cheese; they have a lot of good sounding options but try and get ones with more flavors in the ingredients if you're craving something with a lot of variety! read more
