The sandwich itself was... fine. The service was... not. First the sandwich. I got the Italian. It was *drenched* in mustard to an unreasonable extent. The bread (french roll) was soft but without the crunchy crust that should be par for a french roll. The meats were ok, and the iceberg wasn't bad, but not great. Maybe three stars for the sandwich, but nowhere near as good as Alameda's other sandwich shops, Domenico's or Santoro's. The service was bad. First the young counter guy had no idea what I meant when I asked to substitute havarti for swiss. Then he charged me $.80 to "add cheese" to the sandwich when it already had cheese. The older woman (owner?) and another young counter guy then came out from behind the counter and had a long, almost shouted conversation in front of the register, all while eating soft serve. After 15 minutes of that, I approached the counter to find my sandwich sitting there. Not that anyone had bothered to tell me it was ready. Anyway, definitely not going back. I will however go back to Domenico's and Santoro's many times! read more

charming and friendly service & well priced sandwiches in a fairly spacious corner shop! we stopped by to grab sandwiches for a beach picnic and were greeted by the very welcoming and kind staff. they were super helpful and accommodating! the food came out very quickly as well. the sandwiches range from $11-13ish which is super reasonable! they're not gigantic, but a good amount of food and will definitely fill you up. i like how compactly they're constructed and wrapped, as it makes it very easy to eat on the go. my tuna sandwich was solid and tasted really fresh, but i wish there was more filling (veggies were lacking). in my friend's sandwich too, she mentioned that the bread to filling ratio was a bit off and that as a result the sandwich got a little dry. we still enjoyed the meal, but would recommend adding some extra veg or requesting more to even out the ratio! read more

Great sandwiches and Strauss soft serve. Around $14 per sandwich. The Italian had flavorful meats, and the avocado sandwich's house-roasted turkey was delicious. The marbled rye tasted more like white bread -- soft, but missing that rye tang. Only downside: a bit on the salty side. read more

This is a cute little place with only Alameda street parking so it may be hard to find some. Service was okay, I did feel like I was a little of a burden but maybe the guy was just having an off day. The reason for the lack of 5 stars is because of how expensive the sandwich was for how small it was. I was thinking the prices were good since this was the first time of me being here but then I walked away with a small sandwich that surprised me a little. I ordered the BBQ chicken sammy and although it was delicious in taste! Again, much smaller than I thought it would be. Due to the high price and small(er) portions than other places, I don't think I see myself coming back here unless I'm in a pinch. I also ordered a mango smoothie and I didn't feel like it was that great, very middle of the road. read more

Rose's Sandwich Shop is approaching it's 1-year anniversary, and it's top quality sandwiches and great service has not changed. What has changed are things like: -more seating -bigger chip display -offers soft serve -serves coffee I was just there last Friday, and ordered "The Alameda" sandwich. Great sandwich, loaded with fresh turkey. Rose told me they roast 1-2 turkeys a day on-site. It doesn't get any fresher than that! read more

Sandwiches are in my top ten favorite foods, so I was excited to try this place after reading so many stellar Yelp reviews. The menu has a great selection of sandwiches, many of them locally themed, which I really liked. There's a good variety of meats and bread options. The service was friendly and welcoming, and the space itself is spacious and comfortable. It feels like the perfect spot to meet someone for lunch, enjoy some food, and chat for a while. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the tables are clean and comfortable. I can definitely see myself coming back for a relaxed lunch. I ordered The Angela, a variation of a turkey sandwich. It was good, but it didn't blow me away. The turkey was hand-carved, which was a nice touch, but overall, it was a pretty regular sandwich on a basic roll. One of the highlights here is the Straus soft-serve ice cream. If you've had it before, you know it's a special treat. I love sandwiches. They're loaded and make me satisfied. I went with the Alameda sandwich which I enjoy having unique items on the menu like this. I took it with a Dutch crunch roll. Vibe is very calm and clean. Looks very local and family owned. You have the basics for a sandwich, crisps and a drink. Plenty of seating. The sandwich was nice and flavourful. The cranberry sauce gives it a sweet yet not overpowering kick to it. Bread was soft and fresh yet a soft crunch. Food is done in front of you and service was prompt. I'd come back. read more

Have eaten here thrice. Quality of product has declined since opening. Sandwiches are overly salty and dripping with mayo, and service is lukewarm at best. Highly recommend looking at Santoro's or Domenico's instead. Both have much higher quality product at same price (with equally frosty service). read more

We ordered two sandwiches over the weekend. I ordered me a BLT with avocado and light lettuce. We had asked them if the bacon would be hot, and they said yes. But when I receive the BLT, they did not put any tomatoes and the whole sandwich was cold. The bacon was cold and so was the bread. I was able to microwave the bacon. I got a great suggestion from the woman at the front to try the Alameda with sourdough roll and I was so happy with that choice! The roll was huge and harder to take one full bite but it was so worth it. The bread had so much flavor! They had ambient music playing and lots of seats available. Date: 1/19/2024 Time: 3:30 PM 54° Rain Recently I received a message from fellow yelper, Steve D, about this new sandwich shop. Rose's Sandwich Shop opened last month. It is my first time here, so I needed time to peruse their paper menu. Despite it is raining, I stopped in to order two sandwiches, #13 Italian and #21 Pastrami, to go. My regular go to place is Domenico's Italian Deli, but I am open to try a new sandwich shop in town. Ooo wee! Which one is better? Folks, it is a tie. Four stars for both places. Rose's has indoor dining with tables and chairs next or near the windows. It is more spacious compared to Domenico's. Nice lighting fixtures and quite comfy for people who want to have their sandwiches and beverage indoor. However, Domenico's has a large selection of potato chips/snacks and beverages in the refrigerator. They also have tiramisu and salads in their refrigerated case and biscotti/cookies. Rose's has a variety of side homemade salads for $4.50, and a mixed green salad is $9.95. The price of their sandwiches range from $4.95 (PB&J) to $13.95 (#5 Giant). Customer service is excellent at both venues. Both have a nice selection of deli sandwiches. The slight edge is Domenico's on the variety of sandwiches. Domenico's has plenty of Raiders memorabilia on their walls; whereas, Rose's has more of a feminine touch of artwork on their wall. Another thing, Domenico's sandwiches come in two sizes - regular and large. On the other hand, Rose's is opened seven days a week from 10 AM to 8 PM; whereas, Domenico's is opened six days a week (11 AM to 5 PM), closed on Sundays. I have to admit that Rose's is giving Domenico's a run for the money. Inasmuch as I would like to give Rose's a five star rating, my loyalty is with Domenico's because I have been a regular customer of theirs for several years. My next visit to Rose's is for #14, the veggie on marbled rye. If Rose's #14 and their #1 (Alameda) are excellent, then I will upgrade to a five star rating. Doing so will also mean an updated rating of Domenico's to five stars. read more

Now I am no sandwich expert but HOLY MOLY! So fresh, delicious and fulfilling! The sandwiches are HUGE for their price. My personal favorite that I get every single time is the Italian of French roll- the layers of meatttt and the right amount of pepperoncini is what makes this sandwich delicious! I love the sandwiches and service here; my fave is their in-house roasted turkey with avocado and bacon on a Dutch crunch roll. That's #2 "Avo-I-Am" on the menu. It's a family business; Rose and her son A.B. are always friendly and quick. I love the big windows to just take a few minutes and watch the world go by. My dad wanted everything on his sandwich as well as lite mustard and etc and the lady who makes the sandwiches wasn't listening and kept trying to say she got it and she's working on it. I've worked in food service for years and it is important to hear what a customer is asking for because after all, it's their food. We got home, no tomatoes, sandwich was missing stuff, my boyfriend's sandwich was missing stuff. It was disappointing. My father was very upset. I think they could be more friendly as well as being more adapting to certain people who are just communicating a specific need or want in their purchase. We will be calling later in hopes to remove or change this review. Thank you.
