Food was amazing. The portions were huge. Our server was kind, knowledgeable and definitive with our questions and experience. Several members of staff checked on us and they are a wonderful team. The bathrooms and tables and floors clean

this place has THE BEST FOOD EVER i loved it so much and our server was SO nice! it has great decor and the experience was also so fun. it was so fun to cook you're food in it and the cheese was also so good. but the BEST PART was the dessert; chocolate fondue and you dip fruit, waffle, and other sweet treats. over all i HIGHLY RECOMMEND

The Melting Pot is great place for any occasion. If you do plan to visit and you get the Big Night Out, expect to be there at least for a couple of hours and go hungry because there is plenty to consume there. The staff go above and beyond to ensure you have the best experience. Parking is available at Water Street Garage, they do accept Debit/Credit cards.

Melting Pot Charlottesville is situated right off of Water St adjacent to the downtown mall. We made a reservation for 6:30 and showed up at about 6:15 and were immediately seated. Upon entrance, we passed a wine cellar which we sat next to as we dined. Each booth is private and cozy and are different sizes depending on your party. We both decided the create your own. We had to share the first cheese pot so we chose the Artichoke dip to share. Each starter cheese comes with an assortment of breads, apples, and broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots to dip. The artichoke dip was literally my favorite and I HIGHLY recommend trying it. Our toss up choice was the Fiesta cheese so we will save that for another time! Plenty of breads and dippers for 2. And we eat a lot! Next, we both each chose a salad to which we both ordered Caesar. These don't have to be the same choice but we were in the mood. The dressing was nice and flavorful and each salad was topped with Parmesan cheese, croutons, and some sort of candied nuts. Next we needed to agree on one cooking style for us to cook our proteins inside of. The smaller booths have one burner for one pot so you need to share this but that makes it even more fun! We chose the Coq au vin cooking style which was a burgundy wine base broth with scallions, mushrooms, and garlic. I ordered the herb chicken, mushroom sacchetes, and the filet minion. All were very tasty, fresh, and lean. The mushroom sacchetes were basically mini mushroom ravioli type pasta that was shaped like little octopus. :) They were all so yummy! The broth was great as well but I think some meats would be getter in another cooking style. My husband's meat choices were the same except instead of the chicken, he ordered the ahi tuna hunks. He said the tuni was good quality, and fresh, but once again he would prefer to have grilled it instead of boiling it in the pot. For dessert we shared another pot. We chose the Cookies and Cream Marshmallow Dream option. And it was just as you expect! Loads of chocolate, Oreo pieces, cream, and marshmallow fluff! So yummy! We were given many dippers for dessert including strawberries, bananas, pineapples, blondie and brownie chunks, shortbread, rice crispies, and waffle pieces. During dinner my hubby ordered two Tito's martinis which I didn't photograph because they were served a little under a half empty and also served bruised. He still drank them both of course and we don't really send things back. We will probably not order mixed drinks here again. As for the entire dinner, it was very delicious and enjoyable! I would recommend for a close, romantic dinner, or night out with a couple close friends!

I've heard many good things about this place, so I decided to come here for a special occasion which was fantastic! Because of the many courses, I was able to spend awhile eating amazing food and bonding with close friends. The atmosphere and aesthetic is fine dining and warmth. Perfect place for a celebration or a date night with a serious, significant other. To start off, we had the spinach artichoke and Wisconsin cheddar fondue. Not going to lie, it was a bit underwhelming. The flavors were a bit bland. But it was a bit better than decent. I really expected more since this is a fondue place. For the main entree, I had the pacific rim which was again, ehhh. It was a bit bland and I expected more. The meats were okay but for the price I expected more bang for my buck. As for the cooking style, we got the Mojo and Bourguignonne. The Mojo was again, underwhelming and bland. And the Bourguignonne was literally just batter that didn't stick and hot oil. Lastly, we got the dessert which was without a doubt the best part. The chocolate choices were phenomenal, and it really ended the note on a high note. 10/10 because you can NEVER go wrong with chocolate. Overall, it was an amazing experience. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful with any questions we had. The food wasn't the best for the price but the experience and time spent with friends made it all worth it. I recommend coming here at least once for the experience, but I wouldn't say I would come back anytime soon. Maybe in a few months or so.

We went here for our anniversary and had a great time! They even gave us an anniversary card signed by employees. We got a secluded little booth which was FANTASTIC. The service was great and the owner even stopped by to greet us. The food was, of course, amazing and the drinks were great. We did the big night out, shared a bottle of the sparkling rose, margaritas, and beer. It was a wonderful experience and I'm excited to go back!

I would give this place a 4.5/5! I did the four course meal and it was a great experience! My friend and I spent almost 3 hours here, and seriously a great time. Cheese - 6.5/10: The Alpine was good, but too much of a wine flavor for me! I wasn't expecting it to have that much of a strong flavor, so it wasn't amazing, but it also wasn't bad. Salad - 9/10: The Cesar salad was super tasty!! The other strange part was the sweetness to it. I think it had some kind of candied thing. But overall the salad was great, especially with the garlic wine seasoning they have. Entree - 9/10: Garden pot has a great variety!!! I love how there were dumplings, vegetarian meatballs and more! The asparagus were probably my least favorite. My friend got the pacific pot, and liked it overall! We do wish they had a solely seafood option. Dessert - 10/10: Sooo good!! Got dark chocolate fondue and it was very yummy. The strawberries, cake pieces and waffles were the best in it! Service is great and the overall vibe is great too! Amazing experience!!

It's a chocolate fondue with fire. Great experience

We had a great anniversary at melting pot. Love the experience there and services. Food was tasty as well.

This was an amazing experience. All 4 courses were presented super well, and our waitress, Abbie, was extremely knowledgeable and had great suggestions for each course. The staff was wonderfully accommodating, and the drinks just as quality as the food!

When dining here, I enjoy the superbly prepared food, a very high level of attention and a cozy, classy and quaint atmosphere. The restaurant is small but the food taste is large. Before I describe my courses, there were many bonus bites, starting with an amuse bouche and then other small and wonderful taste surprises between the courses. Had the small, bite-size food gifts been a full course, I would have been quite content. For example, one plate of small tasty delights had 5 items to enjoy. That little dishes included quail egg, beet, steak tartar, stuffed corn cakes, avocado mousse and corn jam and some creamy pistachio. There was also the delicate and frothy egg yolk with a ginger and carrot salad. I was also given a surprise small portion of delectable soup, which was root vegetable-based with a truffle cream dollop on top. I enjoyed the carrot and rich parsnip flavors in that soup. Of course, there was some fresh warm bread with a yummy, garlicky butter. i had a glass of champagne whcih had a light, clean grassy taste with an nice acidic bitterness. My three courses on the Prix Fixe menu started with the Tagliatelle aux fruits de mer parfumee a la truffle. This seafood pasta dish, with a truffle accent, was a wonderful balance between the earthy flavor and the slightly sweet and perfectly-seared scallops. The next course was a Bourride de fruits de mer. This dish is a seafood stew in a tomato soup. As usual, the flavor combination is so sublime and so interesting on the tongue. The soup arrived with a slice of flavorful garlic bread, perched above the bowl which was holding fresh seafood on the surface. The final course was La bombe au chocolat. This is a rich dark chocolate and raspberry mousse in a deep hot chocolate sauce. Of course, the chef was so kind in sending out another bonus dish with a type of of kouign-amann, a wonderfully tasty lime tart and yummy chocolate truffles in the center. What a spectacular experience!

They made her feel completely safe and included by providing an experience just as elevated and refined as the standard menu. We began with a beautiful progression of hors d'oeuvres and a silky lobster bisque, followed by perfectly seared scallops. For the main courses, the venison was tender and masterfully seasoned, while the lobster was a delicate and buttery triumph. The in-between courses really set this restaurant apart. We loved the thoughtful amuse-bouche to start and the chocolate pre-dessert that served as the perfect bridge to our final courses. We finished with a dramatic Chocolate Bomb and a classic Grand Marnier Crème Brûlée, followed by a lovely plate of mignardises to close the evening. Fleurie is the gold standard for French dining in Charlottesville. It is intimate, professional, and genuinely caring about dietary needs. This is a must-visit for any special occasion.

From the moment we arrived, the staff was welcoming, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable about the winery and its selection of wines. She mentioned that she had been working there for about a year, which honestly surprised us because she was so confident, personable, and entertaining. Her sense of humor and excellent customer service made the experience even more enjoyable. The winery itself is absolutely beautiful. The décor, atmosphere, lighting, furniture, and bar setup were all thoughtfully designed and created an upscale yet comfortable environment. I couldn't stop admiring the space. We also had the pleasure of meeting some wonderful people during our visit--a group of siblings and their spouses. In an incredibly kind gesture, they paid for our meal and wished to remain anonymous. I couldn't leave without expressing my gratitude for their generosity. What stood out most was how engaging the staff was. They kept conversations flowing, shared laughs with guests, and created a warm, welcoming atmosphere that made everyone feel at home. We ended up ordering the 4 course big night out meal which consisted of a salad, cheese fondue, a large shared entree with a broth to cook it in and chocolate fondue all served with multiple dippers. We went the weekend before Valentines day weekend which resulted in a busy evening. Our cheese fondue was a bit cold and separated upon arrival but we were able to heat it up more at our table. Our wait between courses was very long with us waiting 40 minutes between our cheese fondue and entree with no one checking on us or communicating. I did speak to a manager who spoke with our server and once we received our entree the wait time did decrease for our desert which was nice but I wish there was more communication about what was occurring as my partner and I genuinely thought that our servers shift may have ended and we were going to receive a new server due to the wait time and then having a food runner deliver us the broth with no food for another 10 minutes. For our desert we decided on the smores chocolate fondue which consists of chocolate fondue topped with graham crackers and flambèed. The lighter used left a smoky lighter fluid taste at the end of our fondue. So I woupd recommend skipping the flames on it but overall the food was good and the variety was very nice. The food at the melting pot is delicious and I do think they offer a great value per person in regards to food and experience of fondue. I would keep in mind that even the week before a holiday appears to be busy and that could affect service and impact your experience, with the cost of the melting pot I would have attended on a weekday to ensure I was able to enjoy it completely. It may be best to attend on a less busy day to have a full experience.
