My husband surprise me and took me to a birthday dinner at the melting pot. We got the four course meal with the classic and the Pacific Rim. We finished off the meal with the turtle chocolate fondue. They offer special packages like roses to be at the table when you arrive. My husband gave me six roses to represent each decade! The weight staff were friendly and attentive. We had a great time.

I love melting pot 10/10 every time I go. I think it's a place everyone should experience at least once. The portions may seem small but you'll definitely be leaving full. The food is always good my favorite part is the cheese fondue. The service is always good and they are attentive. The vibes in there are very nice and it does have a dark vibe but it's not just for couples, you can go with family and friends. Always recommend this place!!

We enjoy coming around this time of year. We get the full meal for two and it is perfect for myself my husband and our tween daughter. Plus I love the chocolate covered strawberries they give me for my birthday.

Started with the cheese fondue. Coq au van fondue was delicious. We also got the charcuterie board as an extra. It was wonderful with the cheese. That was delicious. We got mushrooms, scallions and garlic along with some red wine. the pacific rim chicken, potstickers. teriyaki steak, duck, shrimp. The meat douse was not good. Meat was tuff. Would skip this portion. Dessert was the dark chocolate. Very good. The stars are for the dessert and cheese course. The meat portion is not worth it. Our server was pleasant.

Atmosphere so cute and server Ryan was sooo sweet and nice BUT!! Man $70 per person for some bread, cheese and a couple veggies?? Absolutely not. Will not be returning, glad I saw what it was about I can make my own fondue!

Starting with our Classic Alpine appetizer and our favorite Cesar salad!!

The food is always great! Good quality and just the right size portions! It was really nice that the GM stopped by the table to check on everyone. Will say, though no fault of the restaurant, it's just how it is.... The tables seem small. Sometimes there's not enough room when the salad arrives and you're still working on the first course

Fam Fondue Date Night

Fondue? More like Fun Do!! My fam came here for Fondue Date Night! (any Everybody Loves Raymond fans?) This is definitely an "stirring" experience as much as it is a restaurant. The Melting Pot has been in Richmond for decades. This unique Swiss dining adventure is worth the ride! I'm not sure it's worth the price, but it's certainly a great way to enjoy an unusual meal! It's a "hot (s)pot" for a romantic dinner or any special occasion! BTW, fondue comes from the French word "fondre" meaning "to melt". During the cold season in Switzerland, fondue and bread was a way to stretch out meals and limited food during the long winter months! Now, time to whet your "Alp"etite! The ambience in this cozy restaurant is mellow, dim lighting, dark wood, deep colors. We were shown to our table, there were 6 of us, and we nestled in for a long evening. As we perused the menus, most of our party was a tad confused. Six people, 2 burners, and the menu outlined "meals for two". After some math equations (I thought I'd left that behind in high school) and some clarification from the gracious manager, we calculated our order! We decided upon two orders, $95 each order, of the "The Complete Experience for Two" (split 6 ways which saved us $95) a Four Course Dinner, which included the first course: a traditional cheese fondue course with your choice of cheeses and accompanied by artisan breads, veggies, and fruit. We picked the Wisconsin cheddar & the Quattro Formaggio. Second course: choice of salad, our picks were the Caprese and the California salads. Nice and fresh. Next up was the 3rd course: choices of meats/seafood. We ordered the Steak Lovers entrée which came with several different cuts of beef; the Land and Sea, a combo of shrimp, chicken, garlic pepper steak & Atlantic salmon; and the Pacific Rim which had shrimp, chicken potstickers, tuna, steak and duck. You also choose how you want to cook your meats. Yep, the entrées come raw and you cook your own food! Boiling pots of broth to dip your entrée in! The skewers are colored coded so you know which one is which. All in all, the meats were average. Nothing to write home about, but it was interesting to "cook" your own proteins! Last 4th course: Dessert fondue - we chose the dark chocolate pot and the chocolate/peanut butter pot, served with a platter of fruits, rice krispy treats, brownies, blondies, pound cake and marshmallows. The desserts were my fav part of the whole shebang! Don't mind if I fondue! We "skinny dipped" through each course, and our server, Cara, was patient and friendly. Some people don't like my puns, but I'm quite fondue of them! Our drinks were spot on, their bar is pretty good, cranking out beer, wine, mixed drinks and coffee beverages! This is truly a "dining" experience - no fast food here - it was long! It took us about 3 1/2 hours to get through all the courses! I suspect since we are familiar with the menu now, we could do it in about 2-2 1/2. Although I had a great time, and I'm glad we came, to me, this place is a "one and done". It's a place you'd go for a treat, but not on a regular basis. I could see popping in for a dessert fondue though. The restaurant was packed with happy diners having fun with their skewers! So dip away and try this RVA spot for a "cheesy" good time!

Dessert!

Nick was absolutely wonderful. Celebrated 16 year wedding anniversary this evening and he provided the best customer service, food, ambiance everything was truly great.

If you like cheese, chocolate and wine. This is your place to go. I am a little biased because I am not partial to either. I liked more of the entrees with the broth and meats, in addition to the fruits dessert options. The service was nothing short of amazing. They will steer you in the right direction if you don't know what to get. For what its worth, I would definitely bring the kids back for the chocolate and desserts.

Overpriced, food average. Booth seating is cramped. There are better options for the money.

For a Saturday night, the atmosphere was lively but not overwhelmingly so. It is a small space so I was very happy that there were still side tables available to sit at & enjoy our food & conversation. The staff were very welcoming, helpful & courteous. & although my husband were probably the most aged patrons in the place, we never felt out of place & I sincerely appreciated that we were able to go there & feel comfortable being a part of the Saturday night community. IYKYK As for the food. The Fried mushrooms were absolutely yummy. They were crunchy on the outside with a light & fluffy texture to the mushrooms inside. We ordered the Chicago Dog & the Sloppy Joe Dog & Black Lodge has the BEST hot dogs I have ever tasted! & believe me I have eaten a lot of hotdogs in my lifetime. Their hotdogs are juicy & full of flavor. My husband is still talking about their hotdogs a day later & how we have to go back again[this was his first visit]. For drinks we had the Jager-Rita, Miller High Life Pony & Green Tea shot. They all were great & complimented our food perfectly. The Green tea shot was so smooth, I definitely recommend trying it If shots are your forte & even if they are not. I am not a shot person but I really enjoyed this particular drink. I definitely recommend Black Lodge if you enjoy a very casual, laid back bar/cafe type of restaurant that has food & drinks that are very upscale but reasonably priced. Also, the atmosphere is very bright & bubbly. A perfect Saturday night hang out type of vibe. So once again I definitely highly recommend giving this establishment a try!

The waitress over heard me mentioned the temperature to table and proactively took the plate and said "I'll have them remake it for you" the manger returns with the plate in his hand and asked if I wanted the food reheated or recooked. In my opinion, after a plate has been walked back and forth several times and talked over it's not longer appetizing. Not to mention I order it medium, wouldn't that compromise the texture of the meat? I felt insulted by that question. I would like the 50.00 meal to feel worth it. Reheating food doesn't feel like the appropriate approach. UPDATE.. the lamb chops return over cooked. The entire meal was ruined. Four to two. I really wanted to like this place.

You can call me an almost Valentine's Day baby, so it's always busy when I want to hang out for my birthday. Meh. We sat at the bar and our waiter took our orders. The wait for our food was über long. While we weren't in a rush and didn't complain, it was a pleasant surprise when the manager personally came over to apologize for the unexpected long wait. Now, on to the food. If you've followed me long enough on Yelp, you know I'm a big lover of pork chops. Perry's!? Hello, Perry's?! Come thruuuuu! Perry's has one of the best pork chops I've ever experienced. Yes, "experienced," because it certainly was an experience. The chop is gigantic and certainly big enough for two people to share. I did not share lol. I definitely had leftovers. It was seasoned perfectly, it was juicy, it was just amazing. I'd go back in a heartbeat for the pork chop alone. We also indulged in a seafood tower. Now, that's your standard fare. Good, but nothing special. Go for the pork chop. Just go. A huge shoutout to my friend for putting me on. Cheers!

The toilet ran after flushing unless I went back and gave the handle a little jiggle. There were no electrical outlets in the bathroom -- none! I had to plug in my electric toothbrush on one of the nightstands. There was a double electrical outlet at the desk, but the refrigerator plug covered part of the second outlet, so I had to unplug the refrigerator to plug in my laptop. (Fortunately, I had no need for the fridge.) The room was chilly when I got there, but I couldn't figure out how to set the HVAC for heat. The only plus was that the bed was very comfortable. It is a really cool venue. We sat on the second floor and had a very attentive waitress. We shared three appetizers, the ahi tuna, blue crab croquettes and the fried green tomatoes. We all thought the fried green tomatoes were the best. I got a vodka soda with lime, which was so watery that there couldn't have been much vodka in it. I ordered the seafood trio pasta, and the only parts of the dish that had any flavor were the red peppers and asparagus. The sauce was really bland and my scallops were slightly under done. My companions each got steak dishes and were happy with them. I ordered the key lime pie for dessert, that came drizzled with strawberry sauce and was accompanied by strawberries and runny whipped cream. It was a huge piece of pie, definitely big enough to share. The pie was also disappointing as it had absolutely no lime flavor (or any flavor for that matter) and could have easily passed for a bland piece of cheesecake. Overall, I loved the building and staff, but was disappointed with my food and drink. I don't believe the quality of food justifies the prices charged.
