The service was good. They seem to be good people. Unfortunately they know nothing about fondues or what a real fondue experience should look like. Combine that with the "Kitchen" not cooking anything, they start behind the eight ball when serving people that know what fondue is supposed to look like and with what sides. Right off the bat, they are using electric stoves on the table with a steel double boiler bowl. No authentic fondue pot. Right there you lose the Smokey vibe and a good crust forming at the bottom of the pot. The bread is served wet and cold as it comes out of the freezer, almost directly to the table. Good fondue bread is slightly dry and crisp. What they serve is straight up bread for ducks at the duck pond. They offer potato's as a side. This one had me scratching my head. They don't boil or bake potatoes. They defrost frozen previously cooked potatoes. They were mushy wet and flavorless. The portions are not marked correctly. A serving for 2 is 6oz I think she said. I ate 4 servings to feel full. I was looking forward and was hungry. They do not have little pickles or cocktail onions. They do not have any Swiss Whites that I noticed. 2 stars on service only. The chocolate fondue might be ok. The fondue experience is lacking. If you want a pot and fork experience find a Korean KPOT. you'll enjoy that experience better and save some money too. read more

My daughters always pick Melting Pot for their birthday so we stopped by and got cheese and chocolate. (I have had some of the other courses before, but the girls just like the cheese and chocolate.) They love the Oreo coated marshmallows and the pure dark chocolate. All the cheeses we have had are delicious too. The Fiesta cheese has jalapeños, but it isn't overly spicy or anything. I probably could have used some more but not every one we were with wants their food super spicy. Shrinkflation has hit this restaurant. As a family of 4, our cheese and chocolate portions were what a party of 2 normally sees. We had half our dippers left without cheese to dip. My 6-year-old and I were out for a mommy/daughter day and since she loves playing with her food, we thought Melting Pot would be perfect! We walked in at 4 pm and were told 25-30 min wait. No problem. It ended up being 1.5 hrs, and this was only after me checking and then being forgotten again. Oof. If my daughter didn't have her heart set on this spot, we would have left. Once we did get seated, I was admittedly disappointed by the atmosphere. We have been to probably 8-10 different Melting Pots, and this one hands down has the worst layout/environment. It is in a basement with the only separation is a small party room. It is lacking intimate spaces and lighting and was incredibly loud. It will not be a romantic meal spot for my partner and I, unfortunately. As for the food, our cheese course was good. The salads were fine, albeit very overpriced for the size. The chocolate portion was tasty, but the dippers were sparse and disappointing. Both the cheese and chocolate were lukewarm, which may have been intentional because I had a kiddo with me? My daughter bit into her brownie and found a piece of steak inside. Since we didn't order a meat course, we knew it was an accidental part of dessert. I don't even know where to begin with our experience at The Melting Pot because it was an absolute disaster from start to finish. Before arriving, we called the restaurant because we were running late, which was completely our fault, and asked if there was any way to push our reservation back, but the employee who answered, Joseph, told us they were "completely booked" for the night and "no longer taking any walk ins" and could not change the reservation, which was clearly untrue because when we arrived there were only two other tables in the entire restaurant for the nearly three hours that we were there. After being seated, it took over 15 minutes for a waitress to even come to our table to greet us and ask for drinks, and we then found out they were not serving alcohol because they no longer have a liquor license, which is something that should have been disclosed when making the reservation or at the very least posted somewhere on their reservation site.Once the waitress finally came back about 20 minutes later to take our food order and then returned another 10 to 15 minutes after that to turn our burner on, she gave us a warning that the table we were sitting at had a known issue where the burner either gets too hot or not hot enough, which made no sense as to why we were seated there in the first place considering how empty the restaurant was. After waiting nearly 40 minutes total, she came back to start preparing our cheese only to tell us that they did not have all the ingredients to make the cheese we originally ordered, which meant she had to remove the pot that had already started cooking and we were forced to choose a different option that we did not even like. Shortly after that, we were informed that they were also out of lobster, which my husband had ordered and was one of the main reasons he chose to go there, and again this was not communicated until after we had already placed our order. At this point, we had been there almost an hour without any real food, so I had to ask for our salads, and when they finally came out my husband's salad was completely unacceptable because the lettuce was brown and clearly not fresh, and when I pointed it out to the waitress she simply said she was sorry and walked away without offering to replace it. When the vegetables for the cheese arrived, none of the peppers had been deseeded, leaving seeds all over the plate, and the bread that was served alongside it was stale, making most of it inedible. When the meat course came out, things only got worse because the burner issue we had been warned about made it nearly impossible to cook anything properly, forcing us to leave the meat in for almost triple the recommended time, and even then it was either undercooked or came out overcooked, tough, and rubbery, and our waitress was nowhere to be found during this time, so we had to flag down another server to help us fix a problem that should never have existed in the first place.When it came time for dessert, they were once again out of the option we originally wanted, and the chocolate they brought out was barely enough to even cover the bottom of the pot, which was extremely disappointing considering that was the one part of the meal we were actually looking forward to. I ordered a slice of cheesecake because I was still hungry after everything, and what I received was a completely frozen, rock-hard piece that was impossible to eat without it falling apart if it was placed in the chocolate. Despite all of this, a 20% gratuity was automatically added to our bill for just two people, which is something I have never seen in my 16 years of working in the restaurant industry, especially considering the level of service we received, and after paying nearly $180 for this experience, we left still hungry and had to stop at a drive-thru on the way home just to eat. After getting home, I could not let the situation go, so I sent an email that night and received no response, which led me to call back on Tuesday, where Joseph once again answered the phone and placed me on hold for nearly 20 minutes just to speak with a manager, forcing me to hang up and call back before finally being connected with a manager. I do want to point out that Joseph was the same individual who originally told us the restaurant was completely booked, and when I did speak with the manager, Tristan, she was pleasant (during this conversation) and listened to everything I had to say and offered us a complimentary return visit to make up for everything that had happened, which brings me to our second attempt tonight to give this place another chance. Two hours before our reservation, we received a text message stating that they were once again out of multiple items, including potatoes needed for the cheese we like, sirloin, lobster, white chocolate, croutons, and several other items, which immediately raised concerns considering everything we had already experienced, so I called the restaurant to ask read more

My family had a wonderful experience here this afternoon. My mother was in town for a few days, and we wanted to take her someplace nice, while also treating my daughter to a new experience. We were a little early for our 4pm reservation, but we were sat immediately. Our waiter, Anthony, was nothing less than phenomenal. He explained the whole process very clearly, and reassured my daughter (new experience, she was nervous!) that she would have a great time. He allowed her to assist in pouring ingredients into the pot and stirring the cheese until it reached the right consistency. He made her feel that she was not only included in the meal with the adults, but that she was special. He asked her favorite color, then brought her a beautiful matching rose. Children rarely get the same attention as adults in even average restaurants, much less these higher end establishments. He showed a genuine interest in her comfort and happiness, and was kind in a way she will remember forever. Celebrating a birthday tonight. Total bill for the 4-course dinner, six people with NO alcoholic drinks was $447. Pretty steep in my humble opinion. A 20% gratuity was automatically added to the bill. Normally, I would have protested the levied gratuity, BUT, Josh, our server, entertained us with aplomb. He was attentive, and did a great job. The overall quality and rating of the food itself was very good. The choice of 7 different sauces made it nearly impossible to choose. Atmosphere (located in a basement) was meh, BUT this is in the old city area of Knoxville and an expectation of shabby chic is the norm. Fun night out at the Melting Pot. We ordered "The Complete Fondue Experience for Two" dinner. This option gives you flexibility in choosing a cheese fondue, salads, entrees and a fondue dessert. We started with the Jalapeño and Bacon cheese, which is a three cheese mixture with jalapeños, bacon, white wine and shallots. The cheese is served with a tray of veggies, breads, and chips. Very tasty. Out of the salad options, I like the Caesar and the California. For the entrees, we chose the coq au vin cooking style and went with the Pacific Rim and Land and Sea. Mushrooms, potatoes and broccoli are served along with the meats and there are a variety of dipping sauces to enjoy to enhance the flavor of the food. I really enjoyed the Pacific Rim. The duck was my personal favorite, when dipped in the teriyaki sauce. For a finale, the bananas foster dessert is heavenly. You are presented with a try of fruits and other sweets, such as rice krispy treats, brownies and pound cake. I would have eaten the entire bowl of fondue by myself. You haven't had fondue?! While we are giving them 4 stars we do visit every time we are in town. The kids fell in love with fondue after trying adventurously and beg to come. It's not an inexpensive meal, but it has plenty of food (translation : they may have to roll you out). The menu is overly confusing but if you just go with the recommendations (with the little pot symbol) you'll be more than good. Don't skimp on the courses - get all 3 and save room for the dessert as it's truly worth it. I mean, weren't you out hiking the Smokies anyway?! I have to start off by thanking Jenae! She was amazing and a great server throughout the whole night and made sure we had everything we needed even though it was a busy Sunday Night. The food is amazing here as per usual. I've always loved the customization that you could do for your own meal and the cooking is all done yourself! They have a QR code to lead you to their own personal timer website to keep track of your cool times now. Their Coq Au Von base is a must try if you are a red wine person, I get it every time and pretty much refuse to change it up cause it's great. Since it was a Sunday night it was very busy, but that made the ambiance very lively even though we were having a date night out. Everything was prefect for our late valentines day. They had our table ready for us. I had order the teddy bear, rose, and chocolate covered Strawberries. We had the cheese and chocolate. My girlfriend and I thoroughly, and I repeat thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Melting Pot! Due to the Pandemic, we have not been out to eat as much; So, this was a special occasion for multiple reasons (we were celebrating our anniversary and it was a night-out. An opportunity to dress up). We truly appreciated Melting Pot's attention to detail and safety precautions - masks, social distance, etc. Our server took excellent care of us. We enjoyed the multi-course meal that was perfectly paced, delicious with high quality ingredients. My girlfriend and I paired our meal with Strawberry Lemonade and our drinks was excellent! We had the Thursdate menu selection, a four course will. By the end, we were very full and satisfied. Another thing that made this day a very special day in a sense of gratitude and caught us by surprise, is that someone at the restaurant went out their way to paid for our dinner. My husband scheduled our Valentine's Day reservation in November-3.5 months out-at one of two seatings that night (8:30 pm). He did so because I have really enjoyed The Melting Pot (in other locations) in the past and he had never eaten fondue. We arrived at 8:15 and had a drink while we were waiting to be seated, and during that time, many couples were arriving. We learned then that an 8:30 reservation only held your place, but it was a first come first served situation in terms of people who arrived to satisfy that held seat. A ridiculous process. Plus, they could not get the people from the earlier reservations to leave. So that was frustrating enough. But I was shocked when at 9:15, 45 minutes later than our reservation, they were seating others who arrived AFTER we arrived, got and finished our drinks, and were waiting patiently to be seated. It was so offensive-especially as he had planned it so far out. Then when we started our dinner, the cheese course was supposed to be a black truffle cheese fondue, but it was actually just a cheddar fondue with what seemed like 1/4 cup of black truffle SALT thrown in. It was genuinely inedible. As we were eating, condensation from the black ceiling was dripping onto us AND our food, so we obviously lost our appetites. And I was freaked out by all of the meats being put on a plate next to each other. I have never seen that before-even at THAT restaurant. It's no coincidence that I was sick through the night. The server was kind, the host was incredibly dismissive, the drinks were $60 for two tiny drinks and we walked away from a disappointing evening having spent $360. Come on The Melting Pot.
