We hadn't been to Chop House in a while and forgot just how good it is. This location definitely feels a little more elevated than the Chapman Highway one, but still has that classic Chophouse feel that's kept it around forever. What makes it so unique is the crust is a crisp chip and the base of the pizza is their creamed spinach. A+ Haley was our server and she was wonderful: attentive, friendly, and made the whole experience smooth from start to finish. I ordered the Spa Day mocktail and honestly... it was better than a lot of actual cocktails I've had. So refreshing and absolutely perfect for summer. We started with the Chicken Pizza Florentine appetizer and WOW. Such a unique dish and easily something I'd order as my main meal next time. Apparently it's been on the menu forever, and after trying it I completely understand why. For dinner, I ordered one of the specials: buttery noodles with grilled shrimp and a 3oz blue cheese steak. Unbelievable. The portion was actually perfect, though I added the creamed spinach just in case and it was delicious too. My husband got the clam chowder plus several sides that aren't even listed on the menu. One of the best parts about Chop House is all the side options. He chose onion rings, snow peas, and a loaded baked potato. The onion rings were already great, but then the manager came out with a fresh batch because they felt the first ones "weren't up to their standards." That level of customer service really stood out. Also worth mentioning: the kids menu is HUGE with tons of choices, which made things so easy for our family. I ate here passing through Knoxville on my way home for Christmas. My experience was pretty good! I was seated quickly and the service was great. HS/College age gal waitress honored my dietary request to have my meal cooked with butter/olive oil and not seed oils. Got the mahi with mac/cheese and asperagus as my sides. Mac was excellent and clearly made on site. Mashed potatos are not made on site FYI. Early bites of the mahi had some fat and tasted bad but the rest of the fish was fine. We stopped by for lunch and it was between 11-4, so we ordered off the lunch menu. I got the Shrimp and Crab Cake with fettuccini lunch plate. My husband and mother in law got the same thing and my daughter got the kids macaroni. We ordered the spinach cheese dip and that came quickly. The cheese was nice a hot (temperature) which I appreciate! It was good and the chips were fresh and crunchy. The food came (my husband also had a salad) and it was pretty good. I don't know why I thought there would be some sort of sauce on the noodles but there was just some grilled shrimp on top of a bed of plain noodles. The shrimp was pretty good when dipped in butter and the crab cake was okay. The noodles being plain was odd and I dipped them in my daughter's cheese from her macaroni and they tasted much better! She liked her macaroni. The service when we got there was pretty quick after we were seated (about a 10 min wait around 1:30 pm Saturday afternoon), however, it took quite a while to get our bill so we could head out. As far as ambiance goes, it is fancy, the seats seem to be white leather and they felt pretty comfy even when you don't get a booth. Overall, the food was good and everyone was nice. Oh and baked apples which weren't mentioned on the menu - nice surprise! The pork chops had great flavor - however found the mashed potatoes and creamed spinach on the salty side. I'd order the pork chops again but maybe substitute the two sides. GRILLED RAINBOW TROUT - $15 (lunch) Seasoned 4 oz fillet, rice pilaf, streamed broccoli. Dad needed something on the healthier side - but fortunately his dish still had great flavor. He really enjoyed it - even the broccoli! I think he'd order this again :) CHOP HOUSE STEAKBURGER - $15 (lunch) 8 oz patty, choice of cheese (Mom said no cheese), bacon, sauteed mushrooms/onions, lettuce/tomato/onions, brioche bun, baked potato (Mom substituted the fries). I have been a fan of The Chop House for years. It has a dignified, relaxed environment. Despite how busy it was (on a Thursday night, no less, with parking all taken up), there was no trouble seating us. I didn't see anyone waiting. I truly don't know how they did it. It had been at least six years since my last visit to the Chop House, and the grand return did not disappoint. Their house salads are among the best I've had in any restaurant, with every ingredient (especially the rice noodles and bacon bits) coming together to make a flavorful, satisfying masterpiece. The salad is a 10/10. You will be hard-pressed to find a better house salad anywhere else, even with Outback's being as good as they are. I ordered their larger sirloin and tried their mac n cheese for what I think was the first time. Both were delicious. The steak was ordered well done (Hey! Don't make that face at me, you animals! I like what I like!) and was cooked well with minimal pink despite how thick the steak was. It was juicy and super flavorful, quite tender as well. I rate the steak an 9/10. It was spectacular. The mac n' cheese was good, but very salty. I like salty food, but by the end of the meal with the salty steak and salty mac n cheese, I felt a bit overwhelmed. I think this mac n cheese would go better with their chicken (which I also sampled from a family member's salad, and that, too, was phenomenal). While I don't regret ordering the mac n' cheese, I don't expect to do it again if I order steak again. I rate the side a 7/10. There are better options or perhaps just a better time to eat this one. I do love their baked potatoes with steak, typically. So how about that bread? It's fine. The Chop House's butter is the selling point. It's rich, sweet, with a hint of cinnamon. The bread is merely a means to eat the butter...the flavor is weak, but not bad. I found myself still eating it with my meal, and overall I'd rate the bread a 6/10. The butter is a solid 10, though. The service, as always, was excellent. The waitress was friendly and despite how busy it was, she made no errors and even told US thank you when we placed an order. Lovely, pleasant attitude. Wasted no time and didn't keep us waiting any longer than necessary under the circumstances. The price was reasonable considering what we were eating. It runs somewhat expensive, but it isn't unreasonable by my standards. Expect to spend at least around $50 for a dinner for two in this very nice establishment. All in all, The Chop House remains one of my favorite eateries. I'm rating it five stars because it deserves every one of them. Kingsport is home to many great restaurants, but The Chop House is king. read more

It was great seeing so many service members dining and from the moment we entered the restaurant, everything was great. Our server, Kaitlyn, was attentive and friendly and took great care of us. So very disappointed with our visit today at the Kingston Pike location. We have been to two other locations that were great experiences. We went for lunch today, and were seated at 1:30. We got our drinks right away, but the server didn't come back to take our lunch order until 1:50. We ordered soup, and it took a while for another server to bring it to the table. Before we got our soup, a third server brought out a salad that we did not order. She looked very confused, and looked around trying to figure out where to take it, and went to another room, not back to the kitchen. We finally got our entries at 2:40. That was 50 minutes after the server took our order, and over 1 hour after being seated. There was no apology or explanation from the server, and the manager, who was practically doing laps to get his steps in for the day, never even acknowledged that we waited so long. But he was quick to take our plates away after our meal and ask if the food was ok. The food was good-not excellent. I had the pork loin, and my husband had teriyaki chicken. Mine was supposed to come with mashed potatoes and broccoli. Instead, I was served rice and broccoli. The server should have noticed and corrected this before it came to the table. Our sides on both plates were bigger than the meat. It was not worth the $18 chicken and $19 pork prices. And it definitely should not have taken 70 minutes to get to the table. They had 1 large party, and maybe 40% of the tables were occupied. We spent 2 hours of our day here for lunch with over priced food and poor service. We felt invisible and forgotten. We will not be back. There are so many other good places in Knoxville to eat. read more

This is a steakhouse first and foremost and while I'm sure they had some seafood on the menu, I did not check their options. I ordered a filet, my wife had their pork. I also had a salad and a loaded baked potato. We were able to have a good conversation with our friends without music blaring, or a loud atmosphere. Rooms were partitioned, there was carpet and soft booths along with tables. This is an excellent dinner option for an upscale meal with a varied menu and good portions. This restaurant has long been one of our favorites and has been the place we've chosen year after year to celebrate my birthday. Unfortunately, this year's experience was deeply disappointing. We came on a Friday evening with reservations for 8 at 8:00 PM, celebrating with our grown children and my parents. Despite having a reservation, we were not seated until after 8:30. Two members of our party had to leave early, so we ordered their meals and drinks at the bar while waiting. I paid the bar tab in full before we were finally seated. The two meals had not come out before we were seated, so I asked both the bartender and a manager to please bring those meals to our table once we were seated. After the food arrived, the same manager came to the table and asked me--at the table--whether those meals had been paid for. They had been, and I found it awkward and unnecessary to be questioned that way rather than the staff confirming it internally. To add to the disappointment, no dessert or acknowledgment of the birthday was offered, something that had always been part of the experience in years past. The warmth and attention that once made this place special were noticeably absent. What was once a cherished annual tradition sadly came to an end tonight. We arrived super early (4:30-ish) the Wednesday before Christmas. Even with no reservation, our party of two was seated immediately at a table in the bar area. Around 5, it started to get very busy and when we left just past 5:30, there was a line out the front door and all seats in the waiting area full. The staff was friendly, helpful, and hustling (working hard and always trying for the upsell, but not annoyingly so). The holiday decor was festive and tasteful. In general, we felt that the space, with it's brick walls and arches and dimmed lights made it feel cozy and inviting inside. Perfect for our date! We ordered: Sweet Corn Tamale Cakes: tasted like cornbread pudding in muffin form, topped with a pico and avocado chunks. The standout of this app was the chipotle ranch crema with a kick. It was tasty! Dip the complimentary bread in this and you will be in carb heaven. New Zealand Lamb Chops (with Loaded Baked Potato and Balsamic Blue Cheese Chopped Salad): the chops were well-cooked and tender and the mint sauce delightful and unique. The salad was soggy as though it was prepared in bulk and sitting and only two pieces of cheese, which was a bummer. The potato was fine and served its purpose as a side...it tasted better with some of the crema from the app, though. Homemade Blue Crab Cakes (smaller portion) with creamed spinach: I thought this would come with only one crab cake but still the two sides-just smaller portions. This was overpriced at almost $20 and only one crab cake and one side. The crab cake was tasty and hardly any filler, mostly all crab and delightfully crispy. Unfortunately, some of the crisp was crab shell. The creamed spinach was amazing, however. We will definitely be back at some point for another date, but will try steak next time. read more
